We had lunch there today. The coffee was cold as was the food. With tip the bill was almost $100.00, with no alcoholic drinks. When we told the waitress she brought us some hot French fries served in a dirty little pail with rust on it and some remnants of food on the side of it. We were not impressed.

Our “room with a view” did not disappoint + the staff was exceptional. Chef de cuisine Luke Chandler delivers show-stopping meals … a surprise that deserves some focused marketing attention! The overall experience was very good — we will go back!

Dining at Sooke Harbour House was the highlight of my vacation to the island. My lunch was a creamy sauce combined with mushrooms and couscous. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere quiet and pleasant with a beautiful view. Dessert was exquisite. Highly recommend this gem!

Lovely place of peace and quiet to celebrate my mom’s big birthday. Highly recommended for any special occasion or to soothe your soul.

Really nice and beautiful Hotel! The right thing if you don’t like a 1000 bedroom Bed-Castle Something for an amazing, kind of exclusive, trip mixed with a great surrounding and awesome food really attentive servers and awesome service ☺️

A recommendation from our hotel concierge for our drive up the coast from sooke. We stopped for lunch. Service was horrible. We were seated promptly, drinks delivered, and orders taken. Then it was a long wait for soup. All the while, others were getting g food and we listened to the server complain to her peer about issues in the restaurant. My poached tuna appeti, er was tasteless. Second course was a wonderful salad. Loved it, actually. But another long wait to get the bill left me a little tired and wish I hadn't stopped for lunch. Maybe it was a bad day or something going on in the kitchen. I dont know. Food was mixed. I won't be going back.

All I can say is WOW!
The food is out of this world and I would go as far as saying it is a MUST to send out of town guests here to experience a true west coast cuisine. (Mmm seafood) You can really tell the chef is passionate about his job and his home town. They source local and grow their own produce which you can see outside. Every detail of the presentation is outstanding and the flavors — unreal! With special menus made daily for their fine dining restaurant, and if you are feeling more casual their lounge is just as good!
Next, the atmosphere is wonderful! The staff are all welcoming and with the sound of the ocean you immediately feel relaxed. They are so privileged to have this slice of paradise with a view that nobody else in Sooke has! They really nailed the West coast theme with the decor — both inside the building and in the yard overlooking the ocean.

A delectable meal. Wonderful staff. Beautiful view abd sunset. The chef should be very proud.

A little fancy but nevertheless amazing.

It was a wonderfully quaint hotel with beautiful seaside view, great artwork — especially the wonderful work they did with driftwood. The food was exceptional as worth the wait staff. They had amazing Gardens there.

This place was so lovely. The room was clean and cozy with a spectacular view of the ocean. There was a real fire place and a wonderful private jacuzzi tub on the deck. I will definitely go back here in the future.

We stayed for one night after after a long drive from Tofino in early September. The room was beautifully appointed with a good view of the straight. The building per say — especially the exterior walls and some of the surrounding gardens are in need of a bit of TLC. We had the 4 course dinner in the evening and really enjoyed the food and presentation. Every dish was well prepared and visiually besutiful although none really stood out as outstanding. My only slight disappointment was with the service overall. At dinner we thought it lacked a bit of polish and artrention. There were long periods of time beteeen courses and no one checking on water refill or bread etc. We ordered breakfast in the room the next morning and they brought no sugar for the coffee and or salt and or pepper for the eggs. My partners pancacjes were excellent and my eggs benedicte were good but for a bill of $60 for breakfast a bit of a disappointment. However these were minor details details and we would certainly go back to the Sooke Harbour House as we wished we had more time to enjoy the surroundings and the gardens.

We had the most wonderful afternoon tea at Sooke Harbour House today. The attention to detail was beyond any expectations we had. The food was delicious, the garden gorgeous, the scenery spectacular, and the service impeccable. Kate, who organized the tea for me and my dear friend from 100 Mile House (currently evacuated due to the wildfires), made us feel so welcome and took the time to talk to us and make sure that everything was absolutely perfect. We were so touched by her kindness. We also met the chef who prepared our amazing cream tea, and were highly impressed with all of the marvellous treats he'd prepared. Our afternoon was everything we'd hoped for and more. Thank you so, so much! We will most definitely be back.

We received a warm welcome. The grounds and facility are spectacularly gorgeous. The views and the walks nearby are also deserving of 5 stars. Though management is not great and there is a constant effort to nickle and dime (e. G $10 for a bottle of sparkling water or a charge for a cup of hot water etc. ). Though it still is a fun and beautiful b&b you just got to pay attention and ask what it will actually cost.

Friendly staff, lovely rooms, and excellent food in the restaurant. Don't forget to take a walk close to the ocean, the views are fantastic.

The presentation of the dishes was fantastic and they all tested exquisite. The house green salad was so fresh that it was alive.

Held my wedding here last June. The view was spectacular, food was alright. We pre paid a little short of 30k for the wedding but not all of the cash was spent. So I emailed them about it and they told me they need to refund 1700 back to me (or so I thought). NO WORDs since that email! I've sent a bunch of emails and the management just ignores me. It is almost my anniversary and I still have not yet got my money back. This hotel is very shady with the way they handle money. I am considering legal actions because it is getting very ridiculous. Try to stay away folks not worth the headache.

We've been here a few times and had better service. This time however, service was very, very slow and the seat we requested was given to someone who came immediately after us despite having a reservation.

Just came back from an amazing lunch at the Sooke Harbour house. Everything was so fresh and delicious. My mother said the salad looked like a still life on her plate! Locals are treated to a discount as well. Excellent service, stunning view and spectacular food.

Thumbs down on a local business that won't pay another local business. Sooke Harbour House has owed Blue Heron Art $231 for over a year, and won't return phone calls or emails, let alone pay the bill.

This place was absolutely amazing. The view from our room (the herb room) was absolutely breathtaking. My boyfriend and I spent every morning sitting in the sun on our patio watching the ocean and wildlife (while enjoying the complimentary sherry and homemade cookies in our room). We spent every night by the fire and lounging in the big, beautiful bathtub. The walk along Whiffen Spit park was beautiful; we saw plenty of otters, ducks, and super cute dogs! We were also in awe of the great driftwood art along the property. Overall, we had a fantastic little holiday at Sooke Harbour House. The staff was friendly, the rooms comfortable and cozy, and the scenery was absolutely stunning. We hope to visit again someday!

Absolutely beautiful Venue — The view from the dining area is incredible. Service was on point — we had a slight delay at the beginning which was quickly dealt with and our cocktails made complimentary. We ordered the 4 course menu done Vegetarian and no shortcuts were made by the Chef. The variety of flavours were so simple yet elegant with an incredible focus on letting the flavours of the ingredients speak for themselves. Those Heirloom tomatoes will blow your mind! This made for a very special 23rd birthday for my girlfriend and I. Thank-you Brock — Next time we will come and stay the night!

Stayed there on our honeymoon twelve years ago and we think of this wonderful place often. we'll never forget our time in the mermaid room and watching the sea otters. wonderful food, fantastic staff, can't wait to visit again.

As a 20-something year old, I would describe the Sooke Harbour House experience as. Okay. I did have a nice meal and I did enjoy my time there but there were quite a few things that were missing the mark. My first comment would be is that the decor is very outdated. I think a definite face-lift is in order, I know they are going for a beachy-airy theme. But they need to bring it into the 21st century. It seriously reminded me of going to my grandparents. Secondly, the service. The service was fine. I personally don't like when the only thing your server does is take your order and then the support staff do the rest. It seems very impersonal and honestly like they aren't doing very much work for the tip you're leaving them and the support staff only sees a small percentage of. One of the support staff was on her first day and it was not great. She took our food to the wrong table twice, and then when I asked where the bathroom was she didn't know where it was. Something you would assume would have been gone over in orientation.? I just would expect more from somewhere that was "world class". Lastly, the food. It was okay. Was it $80 good? Absolutely not. The first course salad was very unimpressive. Lettuce and dressing on a plate. Still had some dirt remnants on the lettuce. Secondly I had the poached asparagus, it was fine, nothing to write home about.

I'm a wedding photographer in Victoria and I am able to see first-hand a lot of weddings in town. The Sooke Harbour House has a special charm. It's set in the wilderness and you'll have visits by deer, otter, and even views of whales at certain times of the year. The one thing I always notice when I visit is that it always even smells like home, with wood-burning fireplaces, and the natural outdoors. The Harbour House is also unique with so much beautifully hand-crafted First Nations art throughout every corridor. The place is big enough that all your wedding guests can stay there and yet cozy enough that you feel like you have the entire place to yourself. In addition to eating food at weddings, I've also celebrated a birthday in the dining room. The food is all locally sourced (mostly from their own gardens) and the chef is amazing. Every bite tastes like heaven. Plus, the wine list is incredible. I highly recommend this hotel as a holiday away, a great place to celebrate a wedding or a romantic night out.

Amazing rooms and with one of a kind view of the ocean.

I thought I bought a gift for a guest over the phone, and they would have it when they entered their room. They did not wait for the card number to go through, and they simply got the wrong number. They told the guest. What a lack of class. The recipients of my 'gift' ended up paying for it themselves. Double-embarrassment. Don't do anything out of the ordinary — they do not have the skills.

We got an online deal to stay at Sooke Harbour House. I had always wanted to go there and this was a great offer. My husband checked had an amazing dinner and watching bald eagles that were sitting in a tree and watching us, as we ate! After we went for a walk on the beach and retired to our room. The room exceeded everything I heard about. Everything was so beautiful and well done, I honestly could find no fault — except Id like to have more Port in my room! If really provided a great escape to my husband and I who have been battling an illness or the last 2 years. The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable and there were so many added touches, that I have never experienced anywhere else Thank you for such a great getaway.

For what you get, this place is over priced. Granted, they have a great wine selection for the area, but the food, combined with a general pretentious attitude is just not worth it. The food is good, but the forced 4 course menu with smallish portions is just not worth it. Combine that with a pretentious server (in this case, Brian), and you just feel like you are are getting jipped at every step. If you are looking for "fine" dining in Sooke, this is one of maybe 2 options, but you are better off buying some fish at the market and cooking it yourself. Skip this place and save your money. No value, pretentious service, only above average food. Average price per person with a cheapish bottle of wine, $130.
