Rainbow Motel

I drive between Toronto and Vancouver a few times a year. For the past two years, whenever I pass through Swift Current, I've stayed here, as its a cheaper alternative compared to other motels in the neighbourhood.
Even though it’s an older property, I find it relatively clean and well-kept. The motel is very conveniently located close to the highway service road, and I think its worth the money I pay for.
I especially recommend the luxury room in Building A, which is pretty much the one I've stayed at so far. The owner told me that building was recently renovated, so it’s spacious, clean, and quiet.

A little old motel, but very clean double room.
Room space 23m2 was big enough to stay for two people.
The staff was kind and friendly.
Price was nice as well.

Clean big room and fairly secluded parking lot to back.
Proprietors are too cheap in their attitude to deal with, however.
We won't be doing any more business in future.

Heater was broken to the point of being stuck blasting the hottest heat imaginable. Had to blast the AC to have it not blistering hot. Got woken up by multiple bed bug bites at 1am, owner tried to argue with me and not give a full refund. Do not go here under any circumstance.

Unfortunately we had to travel in the snow storm coming back from a funeral and after a 12 hr slow go from Regina we made it to Swift current for 10 pm and decided it was best to rest. After a quick Google search we ended up at the travel lodge to find out there were bugs in the gentleman's room ahead of us so we declined a room and the lady mentioned there was one available at the Rainbow motel so we went there. On a regular basis it would be a $66/night but the front desk probably owner knew there was limited vacancy in town due to the snow and lack of road clearing, people had no choice but to grab a hotel for the night which gave him an opportunity to price gouge. $166.50 for a night in an old motel. First a key to a room that was someone else's, then to our room which we had to climb the uncleared slippery stairs to. At last it was a bed for the night and clean from what we could tell. Also old radiator heating which had zero temperature control it couldn't keep a decent temperature which kept one of the two of us up all night adjusting it. Disappointed of the over charging in an already difficult time.

I ended up here on the evening of Jan 31st, 2022.
I was on my way to a destination further east and got stuck in what was arguably a blizzard. By the time I got to Swift Current it was approaching 8 pm and the hotels were pretty much all booked.
Is the Rainbow Motel amazing? No, it's an independent highway side motel. What it did do was probably save me from dying on the road or sleeping in my SUV. I'm not being dramatic, the weather was hellish.
The staff was super nice and prepared me for my room. No punches were pulled. I really appreciated that. Also, despite full well knowing that people were desperate for shelter, the room prices remained extremely reasonable.
The room was warm, functional and kept me alive. Pretty sure it was haunted as the room light came on by itself twice around 3 am. If that's your jam, ask for room 114.

The owner was very nice and friendly. The room was sparkling and smelled great. The room had cups, a fridge, a microwave and an excellent air conditioner. I requested a bathtub and laminate floors as I noticed in the pictures that some of the rooms have carpet and/or standing shower only, and the room was exactly as I requested. The towels were super soft, the shower was great, as was the linen, pillows and bed. I was surprised of the value I got for the money. The only thing missing was a coffeemaker and mugs. The Wi-Fi signal was too weak for my phone to connect, but there was a lot of channels on the tv. 10/10 would stay there again!
