Econo Lodge

Pros:
— Room was decent: clean sheets, hot water.
— Good desk for work (but the chair is not same level; needed pillows)
— Wi-Fi worked well.
— No bedbugs.
Cons:
— Heat: Even in October, the room was uncomfortably hot. The fan was noisy and barely helped. Slept without sheets.
— Odor: The hallway carpet had a foul smell, as if it’s never been cleaned. Thankfully, the odor stops at the room door.
— Safety: The neighborhood feels unsafe at night. The front door didn’t require a key card, so anyone could walk in right?
— Price: $200/night for a single room is unreasonable. It was more than twice the listed rate on Booking/Google on that day (89$).
At that price, I’d rather stay at the Hilton, Hyatt, or Holiday, they are all just a short walk away.
Tip: If you just need a basic roof over your head at honest & real low price, hotels next door like Victor, LeLux, or Samesun are acceptable alternatives.
Overall:
I was ready to rate this hotel 8/10 for a budget stay, but being asked premium rates changed my view. In the "premium" league, that hotel cannot justify more than 3/10.

The walls can be paper thin depending on what room you book. Loud noises and chatter from other rooms can be heard.
The bed itself was comfortable and I had no issues with and off putting odors from the room or linen.
A decent hotel if you only need a place to sleep.

Our room had no air conditioning and was stuffy at times. There was a fan placed in the room but it was a bit loud. The rooms size is okay but I recommend to put a smaller chair as the chair was barely movable. The room was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. We didn’t try the breakfast but we had their complimentary tea and hot chocolate daily.
The location is close to the subway but the neighborhood didn’t feel so safe. There was a homeless person right at the door when we were checking in. I felt a bit uneasy when our neighbor, who seemed intoxicated, offered to help me open my room. I politely declined and locked the door when I am inside my room.
I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place that is reasonably price and within close proximity of the attractions in old Montreal.

We stayed at this hotel for one night and were very pleased with our choice. The location is excellent, the room and common areas (corridors and dining room) were spotlessly clean, and the dining area was convenient with 24/7 access to a coffee machine. The mattresses and pillows were comfortable, and the room was well equipped with towels and toiletries.
A special thanks goes to Kristina and Houssam at the reception desk for their kind assistance and for allowing us to store our luggage after checkout for a few hours. Their professionalism and hospitality made our stay even more pleasant.

Econo Lounge was clean and comfortable. The staff during the day were polite and welcoming, and check in was smooth. The hotel itself is a bit older, but well maintained. There’s a great espresso machine in the lobby, and they also offer toast and a cold breakfast if you’re interested. Our room was clean, and I found the price cheaper when booking directly. The location is excellent right downtown and close to everything.

Excellent location — right near good shopping and great restaurants. Room was of a nice size VERY clean; staff was extremely accommodating, and the breakfast buffet that entails an array of coffees, two kinds of juice, watwr, two types of teas and very good quality bagels, muffins, cereals and oatmeal is an excellent, and high quality, great value addition.

I stayed at Econolodge for two days, from May 17th to 18th, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The room I was given was on the second floor—right next to a storage area filled with cleaning carts, which made the whole space feel like a service corridor rather than a guest floor.
The room itself was not clean at all. The floor of the bathroom was sticky and had a strong smell of urine, which made it hard to even feel comfortable using it. The rest of the room was dusty, poorly maintained, and lacked proper ventilation. It felt stuffy and unwelcoming the entire time.
The approach to the hotel also felt shady and unsafe. The area is not well lit, which made arriving late in the evening quite uncomfortable. The only positive part of my stay was the coffee machine on the ground floor—that’s genuinely the only redeeming feature I could find.
I’ve attached photos to show the condition of the room. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless there are absolutely no other options.

Positive: Location is convenient. Front desk people are nice. Negative: The A/C was not working. We booked 3 rooms. 2 of them had almost no cooling. 1 of them was too cold. The A/C was not adjustable for each room. None of us could sleep well. The carpet looks old and dirty.

Breakfast was good, but they need to offer more tea choices. The location is close to the Metro, and many dining options, but the neighborhood is somewhat sketchy. There's ample paid parking across the street. It's a good place to stay for a few nights if you're looking for a base for exploring the city, but I wouldn't recommend it in the summer.

Located near Berri Uqam Station, in a quite street, our twin bedroom felt a bit small because of the size of the very comfortable beds.
Looked like the rooms were renovated.
Staff is extremely kind and helpful.
No facility in the room however coffee/tea/soft drinks available 24/7 in the lobby area.

Front desk staff were very friendly and the room was clean. Very nice coffee machine free for use.
However, the air conditioning is centrally controlled, so our room got very hot at night since it was very warm while we were staying here. The bed was a double, not a queen like we had booked. The pillows were tiny, the size you would normally get for a small bed or couch for some reason? Our room did not even have a do not disturb sign for us to put on the door when we did not want cleaning staff to come in…
The street this hotel is on is a little iffy, but it is walking distance to most areas you would want to visit. For the price not terrible but with a few changes could be much better.

We had a great stay! The location was perfect, just a 1 minute walk to the metro, which made getting around very convenient. The service was excellent and the staff were very welcoming. Our room was tidy and clean, which we really appreciated. One thing to note: the room doesn’t have air conditioning. We stayed in May, so the weather was still cool and it didn’t affect us, but it’s something to keep in mind for warmer months. A nice bonus was the 24 hour coffee available in the lobby and it was surprisingly good!

Horrible experience with Econo Lodge and would NOT recommend staying with them. I booked accommodations online for a Saturday, but following a system error it automatically booked me a room for Sunday. After calling and discussing my situation with management, they were unwilling to help and refused to issue even a partial refund.
This is the first negative experience I’ve had when dealing with a hotel/motel chain. I was appalled with how quickly I had lost money as a result of a system error and the lack of empathy Econo Lodge staff displayed.

Great downtown location, perfect for tourists! Super accessible and right in the heart of it all. Note that there's no hotel parking, but paid parking is conveniently located across the street. If staying longer, definitely grab a parking pass online and use the app QR code. The hotel itself was very clean, and the staff were helpful and attentive. The included breakfast is a fantastic bonus for the price. Would absolutely recommend this spot for budget-conscious tourists!

Service was good but the room I got was super humid with a very bad smell. Damp removers were running but it was still super humid! I guess having booked with point they gave me the worse room because I wasn't paying! Ended up to go to another hotel as I simply couldn't breathe normally in that room! And staff were friendly but helpless because hotel was full and because of points usage, it wasn't refundable. I'm not going back there anytime soon! Very disappointed! That night ended up costing double the price (once using points and second time with $).

The rooms are new but the amenities are not even close to a 2 star hotel. A cheap motel also has a microwave and Tooth paste for their guest. I called asking for a toothpaste at front desk, the lady said they don’t have it.
No complaint about the room it’s pretty new but such small things hide the good impression of the hotel.
The Girl for night check in was pretty sweet and very welcoming.

Stayed at Econo Lodge for two nights. It was very affordable and it was really nice to have a free breakfast included. I left one of my personal items at the hotel and the staff were very accommodating by searching for the item extensively. They found the item and arranged for it to be shipped back very quickly. Thank you Kevin and others for being so accommodating!
