The room was comfortable but I was disappointed with the buffet, especially the hot portion of it.

Upon check in we were very kindly given a free upgrade to a Junior suite. Very spacious. And after travelling it was very welcome.

I loved the bed, the pillows, the ambiance, the kitchenette and staff, how satisfying this gem is.

Visited some friends who were staying for 3 nights. Seems like a fun spot. Pool on the roof is mighty fine.

Spent there 3 nights service is super friendly. Didn't eat there. Location is great. Pool on the last floor is just a pool on the last floor nothing else. Had a basic room with small kitchen worked out good of traveling with a baby. Room had a balcony but no access to it they took of the handle I guess some clown had to do something stupid and ruined it for the rest of us. Definitely would go back and recommend it.

Great and friendly staff. Rooms were comfortable and quite spacious. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the lack of on site store/working vending machines. The nearest convenience store is 2.5 blocks away.

Renovations are to be done, especially outdoors.
The shower is to be reviewed, difficult to adjust the water in the coveted way.
Moreover, it is difficult to engage in a "bodybuilding" workout, a dirty and unwelcoming room.
However, the rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and the presence of two flat-screen TVs are highly appreciable!

We stayed here during comedy fest and it was a great location. For the most part the room was clean and comfortable. There was something wrong with our tub where the water got between the tub and the liner so as you showered it got more “sloshy”. We didn’t feel comfortable giving our little one a bath because the water would come out through a crack by the plug and didn’t want old nasty water in her bath. When we told them they clearly already knew about it and didn’t care. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful. Just glad we have a good sense of humour about stuff because if you didn’t the pair of undies we found in the corner would have been enough to send you over the edge! LOL.

Obviously it was a prime spot. Right downtown, close to the metro station. The room was decent. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Gave us advice and told us good spots to tour. Told us how to get there. Awesome!

We've stayed at Le Cantlie twice now and absolutely love it. The last time we stayed was July 4-7 2018. We came to Montreal to attend jazz fest and initially we booked an air bnb for our stay. We had a terrible suite that was run down and dirty and a host who didn't communicate with us so we packed our bags and left after 1 night and hotwired a hotel and much to our delight we got Le Cantlie! Special shout out to Luc at the front lobby who allowed us to check in right away in the morning as opposed to the usual 4pm check in time (we have a 4 year old boy and there was a heat wave so it was REALLY appreciated). It was about 40 degrees Celsius when we were here so having the rooftop pool to cool off was such a nice perk. Rooms are great and the beds are super firm and comfortable. This will be our go to hotel every time we come now and can't thank all the staff enough who all are very personable and nice. Thanks for saving our vacation!

Beautiful clean rooms. Location s very good. Five minute walk from mcgill. 9 min walk from mary queen of the world cathedral. Lovely place to stay.

I booked a junior suite last weekend and loved my stayed there. The receiptionist was extremely friendly and helpful and so was everyone else I dealt with. The bed was comfortable and the room was a bigger than I thought. Didn’t use the kitchenette but it tucked away in the corner hidden by doors which was pretty neat and made the room look bigger. The bathroom in my room wasn’t as bad as other reviews were saying, the shower was clean and I have no complaints. Unfortunately the pool was still closed but they didn’t hinder my stay. Order room service and the prices weren’t too bad either, wish they had more a drink selection. They only had bottles of wines and champange, no water, soda or beer. Lucky enough I got to the hotel at the time I did for valet parking because when I came back down stairs I over heard how they did not have any parking available. Valet was $20 a day to park which is reasonable. The location was great when it came to finding restaurants however to night life you would have to walk just a little bit further for clubs. The hotel ended up being a lot nicer than I thought and I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Great stay with great prices.

One of the best value for money options. I stayed here for around 5 weeks and it is like home away from home. Location is awesome and downtown Montreal (Famous streets) are 5 minutes of walk away. Staff is awesome and always ready to help the customer.

24th floor. Very clean room. Very comfortable and very large 40m2 bedding in the top bed of 2m… C is perfect in addition to Super soundproofing. We don't hear anything. Great location… really nice staff… I'll be back…

The hotel staff was very professional, the room was clean and well insulated. The bathroom was nice but the bath was very old. Excellent value for money.

My mom and I drove from Hamilton, Ontario and stayed here for 2 nights and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived around 11am and our room was ready and we were able to check in early with no hassle. The room had a full kitchen that fit into a closet and the hotel room itself was very spacious. We ate brunch in the hotel restaurant and our service was great and the food was presented beautifully. Even the valet drivers were extremely friendly! Driving in downtown Montreal is hectic to say the least, so thankfully the hotel has underground parking. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance so we rarely had to take our car anywhere. Definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel in January, 2014. Though the weather was bitterly cold, the warm hospitality I got from the hotel staff made my stay peasant and enjoyable. Last November my friends (20 of them, all theater artists) stayed, too, and seems to have enjoyed similar experience. As they speak neither French nor English l thank, on their behalf, all the hotel staff who made their stay as comfortable as mine. Thanks indeed.

Outdated rooms. Breakfast is poor. Rooms are clean. All day noise guaranteed. Or a refrigerator, or an AC, other rooms, streetnoise. Fire alarm sounds very often in this building. Fortunate false alarm. Very close to the city centre. Staff is friendly.

The door handle fell off, the color of the green copper rust, the old decoration kettle inside super dirty, but the front desk and cleaning staff also have valet staff attitude is superb three stars are called to employees.

So I have been staying in this hotel since 2010. I always recommended the hotel to friends as it has good location and affordable prices but this time I was given a room on the back of the hotel and my experience was not as pleasant. First, let me say what still works. Good mattresses and pillows, good valet services and great location. Here is what was unpleasant: The bathtub was cloged. We called the reception and they sent their maintenance guy pretty quickly. He explained to us that it needed to be clean and use the plunger. We left the room and when we came back in the evening, the problem was still there. Nothing was fixed. We used the dishes and utensils they have. Expected house cleaning to clean them as this is a hotel and not an Airbnb. We came back to find the dishes being put away but still dirty and a bottle of dish soap near by. We were shocked if they expected us to clean the dishes. I am disappointed with this hotel. It used to be better. Not sure if I'll return after so many years of being a guest here.

Well furnished and spacious room. The only small problems are the kitchenette and the shower.

Compared to other hotels here in downtown Montreal, the rooms are large, comfy and has a kitchen for those days that I really don't feel like going out. Also, the greatest part is the Wi-Fi, when I get back to the hotel at the end of the day, my devices automatically reconnect. That is so nice and there's no frustration of trying to reconnect.

I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. Amazing location but average rooms. Doesn't feel very clean (especially shower/bathroom) but I think it's just outdated. Rooms are nice, comfy beds and tiny little kitchenette is nice to have. This hotel is fine if you just need a place to stay but it is in no way luxurious or a NICE hotel. Heating didn't work and it was cold which was another issue. Also TV channels weren't great.

The room was alright, I expected more, but that didn't mean it was bad. Staff is reasonably friendly and the pool and restaurant are gorgeous. Food was fantastic, no complaints at all on that end. Definitely recommended.

Comfortable big rooms with a kitchenette. Though no free bottles of water are available. Gym is ok but has a nice view. The pool is located on the roof but is closed in the winter. Friendly staff and free umbrella rental (if you ask). They really need to update the doors though, the keys are hard to use and have the room number on them!

I have certainly found cheaper places in the area that offer an appealing boutique experience for half the price. However, I can't knock this place too much. It is high class and you get what you pay for, for sure! Still, I prefer saving money on overnight stays so I can spend it all at the bars!

Wonderfully refurbished hotel. Super clean, super comfortable beds, excellent service from front desk and cleaning services.

We stayed here for 5 nights and have no complaints at all. The staff are friendly and very helpful, we had a queen suite which was plenty roomy for 3 adults. The rooms were cleaned every day, beds stripped and clean towels provided. Location wise — you are close to a number of metro stations St Catherine Street is a 3-5 minute walk, lots of restaurants, bars etc (we had or breakfast at Universal on Peel which is just round the corner and the food there was great).

I really enjoyed staying at Le Cantile. A very quiet hotel with a very nice staff. Great location. We stayed 3 nights. The staff called Us a cab to the airport. We had a late flight and they held our luggage while we had a nice lunch before leaving. The rooms have a little kitchen area where we made breakfast every morning. We spent a lot of time at Starbucks since they were the only ones that had unsweetened ice tea which is all that we drink. Most people speak both English and french. There was one time we had to wait for an elevator in the morning (there are only 3 small ones) but it was not much of an inconvenience. If I had to say something I didn't care for it is that the air condition kicked off every night and we had to re set it to kick on again. All in all it was a very enjoyable place to stay and I would go back.

Our room was very spacious and clean. They provide more than enough towels and the kitchenette has all we need. The rooftop pool was a plus. Staff are very friendly. Will definitely go stay there again and highly recommend this place.

Every time I come to Montreal, I stay here. The rooms are huge, has a kitchen, everyone is so friendly and the valet's know where to get anything I need. What more can I ask for. It feels like an upgraded home away from home. You try it once, you'll never go anywhere else!

We had to stay in Montreal, last night, and so we stopped here, as the Cantlie Suites has become our "go to" place in the city: the bedrooms are always clean (and now they are freshly updated, too), and the bathrooms are lovely. Being right in the heart of downtown, we couldn't ask for a better location, as we can walk to everything. Added bonus: the spectacular views! This is by far, the best hotel choice for us… The prices are competitive, and the staff is friendly and very accommodating.

The room is beautiful, big and clean. Nice bathroom with a small bath. The Why of the 3/5 stars: During my booking, I have oris worth looking for a hotel with parking included. Well, when I arrived, the parking lot is full… We paid for extra pay parking.

Perfect, clean and good positioning for the new part, not too much for the old part. Acceptable price for the services it offers such as Wi-Fi and parking.

The staff from the garage to the restaurant, and especially, the front desk is very professional, courteous and knowledgable about the area. Every recommendation was exactly what I was looking for, from restaurants to attractions, and all requests were given urgency. The rooftop pool was very cool, and the view was great. The bed was very comfortable, and the kitchenette was as a great convenience. The basic Wi-Fi was enough to meet my needs including getting some work done via VPN. This was my first visit to Montreal. I will return, and I will stay here.

Rooms are OK the staff is great but the pool was not open which is silly since its June and its a heated pool. I understand the whole seasonal thing but they should at least post on there website that the pool is still closed. The roof top pool is what sold us on the hotel and since it's not open probably would of picked a different hotel since this is a pricer hotel at a 1000 for 4 nights expect a little more have stayed and nicer places for less money in montreal.

The proliferation of hotel room booking channels have often led to check in surprises which actually occur due to lack of complete information in the booking website. When the hotel staff goes beyond ordinary steps to satisfy a customer and their needs, it calls for a 5 star rating. It is indeed these instances that make a business trip more memorable, leaving a pleasant impression of the city as well. On a recent work related trip, I decided to take my family as well and given the picky diet needs of my 7 and 4 year old kids, I specifically booked this via a famous booking channel website since the ring in this hotel included a kitchenette. To our surprise, after check in, we discovered the kitchenette only includes a microwave and mini refrigerator. On apprising the hotel staff about the same, the manager and the staff beyond ordinary means to find a room with stove included; the task was daunting given that occupancy was at peak for the weekend. The rooms are very well maintained, clean and spacious, offering enough comfort to a family of 4 (kids under 10) easily. The coin laundry area is very clean (often neglected in other hotels), the staff is very courteous and diligent about house keeping. On a 4 day stay, I did not find a single reason to not book again. Kudos to the staff.

Great service, bed was very soft, the restaurant employees were friendly and they let us store our stuff all day after we checked out before calling us a cab. It was raining so we got a free umbrella as well to wander the city. Just shows the amazing quality!

Room: Very spacious, and well laid out. Not a fan of the "kitchen in the wall". Especially like the the silver accents on the room fittings. Bathroom: Smaller than I'm used to, but nice use of space.

I really don't understand the bad ratings… This was a fantastic hotel, especially considering the fact that it was half the price of some of the other hotels in the area. We stayed over labor day weekend, and found the staff to be courteous, the room a little old but quite large, and the location superb. The parking was a bit expensive, but the valets were friendly and fast, and we still saved a lot of money compared to parking for free at a much more expensive hotel. It is close to the Metro, close to the fine-arts museum… close to everything important, honestly. Really, take those 1-star ratings with a grain of salt. I think people who didn't like this hotel were expecting $300/night levels of service — If you want that kind of service, go to a $300/night hotel! If you want to save money and still have a great location and a great hotel, go to Le Cantlie Suites! tl;dr: highly recommended, will return next time we're in Montreal.

Hotel not worth even a rude service star room non-compliant to the photo anything is included in the we pay to sleep it's all a paid Wi — Fi. I had never seen that a kitchen dirty dating back to the early 1980s just as the bathroom or bathtub was just awful I'd advise while it is in the city center forget the. No commercial gesture no sense of trade he charges anything from Wi — Fi to the parking you pay always exorbitant prices!

Not sure why so many people gave this 1 star. This hotel was great in every way. The room was great, the Wi-Fi was nice, and the garage they had for parking wasn't bad. My girlfriend and I even kept coming back to the front receptionist to ask all types of questions and they were very nice to us and answered every question we had.

Wifi costs $5 per day, and is very slow. We had a decent size HDTV, but most channels were analog and looked terrible. The elevators are small, and you have to switch a different (smelly) one to get to the basement garage (which is valet parking). The hotel still uses normal metal copy-able keys, despite the obvious security risk. We weren't warned that the rooftop pool was closed for renovations. They have a laundry room, but the machines are so ancient that they don't have a timer to show you how much longer the cycle will take. The bathroom was very small, didn't have a proper towel rack, there was no soap dish around the weird bowl sink (I had to buy one myself at Wal-Mart), and the shower's controls were weird (to the point that a child might burn himself accidentally). Our room's air conditioner was VERY noisy the first night, then a repair guy fixed "a loose screw" so it was only just regular noisy. I never ate at the hotel restaurant, so I can't comment on other reviewers' issues around the antagonism between the restaurant and the hotel proper.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! This Hotel steals from you and is absolutely awful! From start to finish I regretted staying at this place. It started with major complications booking on their end and eventually they cancelled on us without telling us so that we would have to book again closer to our stay so it would cost more. After re booking the stay there was less than pleasent with grumpy staff and brutal elevators that sometimes didnt work at all. Not to mention the single ice machine on th very top floor. When we concluded our stay after checking out on thw way home we realized that the thiefs put extra occupant charges for no reason at all! $150 extra for no reason or explanation! I read other reviews saying they did this but couldnt believe it. Believe me! do not stay at this hotel!

Horrible customer service combined with fees Let’s start with the pros: -The hotel was clean. -Decent location Now the Cons: -After paying nearly $800 for 2 nights for 2 rooms they don’t provide you with free Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi cost $5 per a day. In 2015 I can’t believe a hotel still charges you for Wi-Fi after you paid for the room. You can walk down the street and get free Wi-Fi from Tim Hortons when you get a coffee but you can get it after paying $$$ for your room. -We booked 2 suites (2 queens and a pullout couch). Again after paying nearly $800 they rack on $25 per a person, per a night after 2. So even though there is a pullout couch you have to pay to use it. Also if you have 2 staying in 1 bed you have to pay. They don’t tell you that until you are checking out and it’s on your bill. -They say there is a rooftop pool, until you get there and they say it’s under renovations. We asked if there was another pool in the area we could use but there wasn’t. -Parking is $20 a day. -The shower kept going between hot and cold. It never stayed the same temperature. Also the fan in the bathroom in both rooms didn’t work. -The gym states “state of the art equipment” but it’s all 20 years old. Needless to say we will never stay there again.

Great value right in the heart of downtown! Courteous staff, super comfy beds and up to date contemporary living! My family loved it!

My girlfriend and I were in mtl for medical reasons and chose this hotel only because it was recommended by her Dr. She had called ahead of time, explaining that I would be arriving before her, being that she would be in surgery the morning of check in. The lady who had taken the reservation put the notes in our file, and said that it wouldn't be an issue. Needless to say, it was an issue. Upon arrival I recover less than friendly staff, and immediate hostility. Even though the room was booked in my name, and the notes were still there, I was required (after a brief argument) to leave a 100$ deposit. The front desk manager who's name I cannot recall (a rather heavy lady), was the rudest individual I've ever seen. I've working in hotels/restaurants for 15 yrs, and have never seen such a hostile, uncooperative "manager" in my career. Not only was she unwilling to work with me, she made a smart comment about my girlfriend and her surgery. There were two individuals who actually made an attempt to save our stay. Jean Michelle (guest services manager) and Yannick (the bartender). These two individuals have hospitality in their blood, and I wish them nothing but success in their chosen careers.

Nice, clean accommodations with clean bathrooms, a good shower, and beds that are almost too warm. Room was bright with a decent view of Mont Royal Park. Their Wi-Fi isn't free, but it's fast. They still use keys (just thought that was funny).

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed! They sell room types that do not even exist in the hotel and will *upgrade* you to a smaller room. They will tell you the room you have reserved is not available. This is just an excuse. The staff at the reception said the photos on their website and Expedia were fake. There is no room like that in the building. This is clearly a scam. You won't get what you have paid if you book here.

Absolutely horrible. Pure scam. Booked so called executive suite that in the picture shows separate living space and bedroom. Turns out to be a regular room. Staff claimed that it is an upgrade that I should be grateful. Called expedia and they put me on hold for extended time, did not solve anything. The staff also told me there is no such room as shown in the picture. Really really disappointed. Should have booked hilton, they are always nice and considerate people.

Absolutely terrible customer service, booked this hotel three months in advance and a month later we were informed that our reservation was cancelled because they wouldn't accept our credit card, without any warning or good reason. When I called to get an explanation as to why it was cancelled, I was treated with extreme rudeness and unprofessional staff, after requesting to speak to managers I was not allowed to apparently. Save yourself time and money and find a different hotel in the area. This one is awful.

My husband and I booked a 4 day/3 night getaway for the Easter long weekend at the Cantile Suites, we booked before I found out I was pregnant, so we ended up planning our trip into more of a relaxing one. On the Tuesday before our departure which was set for Thursday, I woke up spotting and ended up in emergency at the hospital. Doctor told me everything looked normal but with the spotting and cramping I need to be on bed-rest as I am high risk for a miscarriage at 6 weeks pregnant. I called the hotel and spoke to the reservations manager (Stefan), took 4-5 calls to finally get a hold of him, once I did, I explained my situation, and said I understand there are no refunds but at least for us to change the dates, I am hoping under the circumstances they can understand. He was rude, and sarcastic, and told me ‘ he hears so many stories a day, this is nothing new’ and ‘no means no’ and ‘I should have known to not book a non-refundable hotel’ He was telling a woman who is at high-risk for a miscarriage, that I should have known this would happen and not booked. I was appalled, asked to speak to the GM (Joanne Cohen) and of course, he transferred me to a line that disconnected. Emailed the GM who also happens to be the owner the next day, explaining the situation, also letting her know that I did unfortunately, miscarriage on Thursday, no response. I am SO disappointed and disgusted with the service this hotel provided.

Really bad, do not book. Maids don't clean even glasses. Place is ugly inside and outside. Location is far away from the old city. You would be better off booking cheap chain or boutique hotel.

One of the worst hotels I've ever been to. On my first trip to Montreal I was highly disappointed. Upon booking I thought the prices were fairly decent, then upon arrival I realized that parking costs $23.00 per day, internet $5.00 per day, and continental breakfast buffet was $16.99. Ridiculous. Not to mention that although our room was okay, the shower leaked every time it was turned on leaving a massive puddle of water on the floor, and the room view was disgusting. On the tenth floor all I could see looking out the window was old rundown buildings. Old building, depressing atmosphere. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel is clean, has great service. There is $5 a day fee for internet, but my room was perfect for my business trip. There was even a kitchenette. The restaurant on the Mezzanine level has quite good food, and the staff are wonderful. The waiter in the evening, and the hostess in the morning, were both very friendly and personable. The restaurant tries to understand about gluten, but there are not many choices for special needs diets like VEGAN or Gluten-free. Still, I would definitely bring the family here next time I am in Montreal.

Worst hotel in Montreal over price. I have so many bad thing to say about that place its not even funny. Way too expensive bad service, maintenance people don't even know how to switch a remote control for the TV. No free continental breakfast. Liking bath and freezer. Overall not a good stay very bad stay actually. The only reason why I even put a 1star is because the valet are very nice and smiley.
