The food, atmosphere and service are amazing! We had our starter poutine extremely quickly and our entrees followed soon after! Craig's Fish & Chips is definitely a favourite of mine and my husband really enjoyed the Chicken Parm! The portions were huge but we couldn't say no to the new dessert! The maple pecan cheesecake is absolutely to die for… so much so that we had to get some to go to enjoy at home! We will definitely be returning!

Fantastic food and great service!

The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. Our waitress was so friendly, and Patrick made us feel right at home. Food is absolutely phenomenal. Biggest compliments to Chef Brian, kitchen team, and staff for all of your hard work. This place wouldn't be as great as it is without your passion. This will be our go to place and can't wait for our next visit.

Delicious and amazing atmosphere! My boyfriend and I are new in town and went there for datenight based recommendations from friends. We got calamari, prime rib and ossubocu and it was very good! We also had the opportunity to try their Creme Brulee and it was delicious. I'll definitely be coming back again! thank you!

New owner but still offer my favourite Craig Fish and Chips. We ate there last evening and the meal was excellent. Best liver and onions my husband has ever had. Vegetable was beets, Brussel sprouts and another root veg.
Service was great and did everything possible to accommodate a larger walk in group (not us).

The Mill was amazing, we had dinner there and I was shocked. The owner greeted us and very friendly! The charm of the the mill is still there with a great menu and awesome team. Highly recommend. Spinach dip will not disappoint you!

Returned to a restaurant that we have been absent from since covid. New owner and an exciting menu. We had battered pickerel, home cut fries and great coleslaw. The meal was 10 out of 10. Great food and excellent service.

We ordered the chicken & fish dinners for take out today and the dinners were 5 star all the way. Service was excellent. I called the owner to compliment.

We spent our valentines day/night at Mill Tales and could not have had a better time. The food was amazing, the room was perfect and Laura Lee (owner) was super sweet to deal with and chat to. She even invited us to watch her feed the ducks before we left which was quite the sight lol. If I could give 6 starts out of five I most definitely would. Thanks Mill Tales, can't wait to see your again.

Wasn't a fan. Overpriced thanksgiving dinner tasted a week old. Portion was super small for $20/pp.

I would not recommend for larger groups. Have been for dinner before and the food and service is fine, but our experience for our extended family was bad. We reserved over 3 months ago, when we arrived, they didn't have all the tables together, and even then some of us had to sit separately. The waitress was quite abrupt with me when I mentioned this. One of our family members could not eat as we requested gluten free and we were told she couldn't be accommodated. All this being said, the food was decent enough, but I expected more from a restaurant so wil be leery to return.

The food is made fresh daily. Staff is dedicated and caring. Ambiance and beauty of the Work on this Historic building 1878 will be a legacy for Tillsonburg for mant years to come.

Excellent fish and chips! Maybe the best I've ever had. The soup of the day was a delicious cream of cauliflower and bacon, which was also amazing. Our table also had chicken fingers fees and fries which were great. I has a Cesar to drink as well, which was very well done — just the right amount of spice. Atmosphere is charming and casual with panoramic views of the river and green space out back. Staff was friendly. Great spot for a date night or dinner with family. Will definitely return.

Extremely good perch. Quick and efficient service. Nice atmosphere if out overlooking river little crowded space for my liking but in no way would it dissuade me from eating there. Very fair prices.

Very nice, clean rooms. We felt very relaxed and enjoyed our stay and will go again. We also had breakfast and the wait staff was very friendly. Price was definitely worth every penny.

A busy place! Make sure that you go plenty early if you're going for Sunday brunch, and expect to wait in a bit of a line. The food is pretty standard brunch fare, and the service is really good, even when it's busy! The place can be a bit crowded but it's manageable. Make sure when you're finished your food that you swing around the outside back of the Inn — the creek that flows through there is beautiful and worth it!

Attended brunch with a large group here. There were a variety of food options available in buffet style and the wait staff were very friendly and hard working! Overall a very pleasant meal.

We love the fish and chips! The food is always good. I can't beat around the bush about service. It's good when they get to your table. It just bothers me when a server doesn't come back to make sure you have something to drink! We've literally sat to the end with no refill! The food keeps us coming back.

Mill Tales Inn is a beautiful location with a menu with broad choices. I enjoyed the view. Staff could have been a little more informed about the menu, and the food could have been better quality. Chairs were the most uncomfortable I have ever attempted to sit in. I tried sitting at a booth — too narrow for even my less fluffy friends!

Went for Sunday brunch. If you go early be ready to wait. Food was good but had to wait for plates and cutlery. Wasn't impressed with the kitchen staffs attitude. I would go again but closer to noon.

Great food. But not always consistent. Sometimes they do not have all the ingredients for itens on menu. Fish and fresh cut fries are always good.

There needs to be a zero star. The girls work hard but the management is terrible. Give your staff the tools they need and improve communication and you can do much better.

We have eaten here many times and find the food very consistent, very good especially the broasted chicken. The servers are usually good although have had slower service a couple of times, certainly not enough to ruin the evening. We love coming here as the ambience is very good and the way it is decorated is top notch.

I have only been to the Mill Tales Inn for dining, but whenever I go it is an enjoyable experience. The food is good and the atmosphere is spot on for an historic Mill. I hear their brunch is delightful.

I love there Sunday brunch well worth the money. And great environment and lots to see how the mill was back in the early 1900's. Plus comes with an NHL family history too!

Thia is a wonderful place to eat. The food is great. Its always busy and you may have to wait but it is worth it.

Their room was quite nice, I found nicely lit kind of dark (finishes) but very comfortable and relaxing. I had a fantastic rainbow trout dinner that was prepared very well. The veggies were hot and cooked to a firm consistency (if that’s the correct term? ) the garlic bread was tasty and served in the shape of a pizza. So much to eat. I was planning on a run later I. The evening but ending up haveing a siesta in the very comfortable bed. Woke later to fill the jacuzzi tub and relax while watching a few videos on my phone.

Atmosphere is great, food is average, service is average. We do enjoy going here because there is plenty of room (we go with a group of 15 plus) and the large windows overlooking the creek are a great way to keep the kids occupied. The wait time for food is average and the orders are often a little mixed up or missing things. (Could be the large group size affecting that). I would definitely recommend visiting at least once to see what it's all about.

This place is amazing. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is great and portions are large. Great value. Definitely will come back.

I was hankering for calamari and french onion soup. The calamari was breaded in a different way than most places and was a great choice. Not oily, rubbery and the tatzki sauce to dip in was a nice change :) The French onion soup was par for the course of most places, good but didn't stand out.

We come here with family every year over the holidays. We always rent a room upstairs or the basement. The service and food is always excellent! I would highly recommend this place for any family event. We have attended on Sunday brunches too. Other than being busy and possibly waiting in line, there is nothing negative to say. Also — the pickerel is a must try! So delicious!

Food was ok. This place has the potential to be great if they would focus more on food presentation and more attentive wait staff. Cold food at this level of dining is not acceptable.

Prime rib is served on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 8oz and a 12oz. They do it up well. Other times during the week I will have yellow perch, they do a great job of that dish as well. Belgium mashed potatoes, now there's a good treat.

A bunch of friends had Sunday brunch at Mill Tales this week. Because we were a big group, Ms. Craig (owner) kindly made a reservation for us. We had a great time, food was superb and plentiful, service was attentive and friendly, view from the dining room is beautiful. Mill Tales is absolutely the go-to place if you are hungry and anywhere near Tillsonburg… enjoy.

The scenery was very lovely — the inside of the restaurant is clean and rustic and provides a very charming atmosphere. The service and quantity of food leaves a lot to be desired however. My boyfriend and I waited nearly an hour and a half for our orders (Our server did not attend our table ONCE in that time), and when it arrived the half rack of lamb was barely more than four bites. For such a steep price it was barely enough food to satisfy a child, luckily my partner was willing to share. The food itself was delicious. During our entire stay our server did not check on us a single time (I'm not exaggerating here) and when we brought up our complaints to the manager they were completely brushed off. Avoid the lamb at all costs and you'll be fine, but don't expect attentive waitstaff or accommodating management — both of which ruined the occasion.

For the price, you get quite a lot! Classy feel, the Jacuzzi rooms are the best, the food is great! Minus 1 star for a mixup with what room number I was going to. I had called and booked a Jacuzzi room, and yet when we got there the keys left out for us were for regular rooms. It was cleared up in any case, so good service.

The location is absolutely gorgeous. The room was spotless, and Lauralee was very flexible. Would love to stay again sometime in the fall, the scenery would be gorgeous.

We had dinner only and everyone (5 of us) loved it. The food was wonderful. Four of us had the special which was ribs. The meat fell off the bone. The Belgian mashed potatoes were delicious. Vegetables were not too crunchy but not mushy. Chef knows what he's doing. The young lady that served us was lovely. She could not have been more accommodating. Would highly recommend.

Good food. Never did I not enjoy a meal here. The service can be hot and miss but most times it's good.

We were there for a birthday dinner. Our server, Matt, was very good and friendly. We had a big group of about 15 people. Our food was fast and delicious. Very reasonable price. My broasred chicken was great.

I feel it was a good value meal of broasted chicken and the restaurant gave full meals for the kids but charged kid prices. The staff was great. Very attentive and friendly. The decor is fantastic. Definitely will return.

I had the Caesar salad when I visited and it was the worst I've ever had. There were an overwhelming amount of croutons, the chicken was dry and the lettuce was soggy with dressing. Additionally, although I obviously can't confirm this, the Mill's dressing had a consistency and flavor eerily similar to Kraft's, yes the kind you buy at the grocery store. From the way they post in their comments, on their website and social media they are clearly passionate about their food – but it appears they only feel that way about certain menu items. A good Caesar salad is not a difficult item to make, you could pick up a better salad at a sobeys, superstore or Costco. In my opinion there shouldn't be any "b" level options on your menu if you want to run a successful restaurant, you should be proud of every dish that leaves your kitchen and be willing to eat it yourself. This was definitely not the case with any of our meals. Several items they recommended on the menu were no longer available when it came time to order so everyone in our party ended up getting their second, third and even fourth choice. This was a Saturday night. We were not offered an apology from our server or the manager/owner. All in all I just would simply not recommend the Mill Tales Inn at all.

The service and food were great! The atmosphere is wonderful with antiques from older working days. This was my second time coming to the restaurant. We went for dinner and enjoyed a full meal the first time and there was a hiccup with my order. Management took every step they could to make sure everything was right; great experience! This time, we came for lunch and enjoyed sandwiches/burgers. It was nice to have a different option for the different time of day. We will definitely go back again.

The dining experience was delightful. The food was excellent and priced very fairly. The only downside was the service was a bit slow considering the number of other guests. Overall it was great!

This was our 5th visit to this place for dinner. Food & service is good. Fish & chips is our most favourite. Broasted chicken was salty. The outside coating of the chicken needs to be more crispier & portion size needs to be a bit bigger. Our family favourite place to eat.

Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. I absolutely would not recommend this place for a large group. Just came back from a very poor experience there with a group of 18 celebrating a confirmation. There were countess problems, starting off on the wrong foot with us finding out our reservation was dropped when we arrived, even after we called a second time to confirm it the night before. After a wait, the restaurant was able to seat our group in the "banquet room" which w…as a 15 degree room outside of the main dining area and up a flight of stairs. They had set up dirty plastic tables and small plastic water cups one would find at a water dispenser. We asked for table cloths and glasses, and when the owner came to provide these he sarcastically commented that we were "receiving the royal treatment. " It took a half hour to get drink orders done and brought to the table. We received our appetizers and bread roughly 90 minutes after being seated, and our entrees over two hours after being seated. We were told before ordering that the restaurant was out of about 5 menu items, including main courses and sides. After ordering with these restrictions, the servers had to come up to our room on 3 separate occasions to tell some members of our group that the restaurant was out of even more items that were part of their orders. After three rounds of some of our orders getting changed it must have taken an hour before orders were finalized.

I've only been to Mill Tales for the restaurant and it is quite good. The brunch is amazing and the location is very pretty, right on a little stream. It's a very popular place.

Went for the fish and chips special, it was great! Very fast service, despite it being very busy over the lunch hour. Friendly and attentive staff.

The Belgian potatoes (mashed potatoes mixed with cabbage, horseradish and carrots) were great!

We arrived at 7:00pm on Saturday. Understandably was a bit of a wait. But things moved along and we were sitting at a table (booth) at 7:25. Hillary our waitress was amazing took our drink order and because they were super busy let us know what was no longer available. She was able to save me some Belgium mashed potatoes. Amazing… Steak was great. Rib Steak. The FET Alfredo huge portion and good as was burger and spaghetti. Very good experience. A great waitress. If management reads this Hilary is a credit to your restaurant. Thanks for the great food and experience. Reason for not a 5 star. Travel to get here and parking plus the wait is standing and not at the bar. But very much worth the wait. Thanks.

Our son and new daughter-in-law were married outside by the pond at the Mill Tales Inn on October 6, 2013 and we were so impressed with the whole experience. The ceremony, the pictures, the reception room, the food. Everything was just perfect.

We had family over for a visit and wanted to treat them to fine dining in a place with ambiance and the Mill Tales Inn filled the bill in every respect. Our visitors were very impressed and enjoyed themselves as much as we did. Delicious food and in ample quantity, served by an attentive hostess. It was the highlight of a memorable day. It feels so good, to be able to show off our town and its finest amenities.

All of a sudden we had this hankering for fish and chips. The place was jam packed, which is always a good sign but we were seated real quickly. Friendly home atmosphere and friendly staff. The manager keeps a close eye on the seating arrangements and that tables are cleaned quickly to put in new patrons. The place is really clean that is one, just head over to the washrooms (seriously, if the washrooms are clean. ) One paper dispenser in the men's washroom is not enough, especially when the place is packed. We have come to this place now for the third time and like to take out friends here too. So the dinner was fish and chips and simple drinks, coffee, diet-coke and the likes. We ordered two piece with fries. I am not certain why no one can make decent fries, again the oil must have been used too long or the temperature was too low. Fries are soft and greasy but eatable. Coleslaw is DELICIOUS, creamy and perfect in temperature. The fish is most likely the best I have had in a LONG time, perfectly battered, absolutely the right temperature for serving. The tartar sauce is standard, nothing fancy, not sure why restaurants are not getting a little bit more courageous — like put in a couple of drops of hot sauce or spice it up slightly with some horse radish. Plates are too small for a two piece fish and the cutlery needs to be sharpened. The dinner roles to start are warmed but they are only average — don't expect anything there.

Owner disceplines the chef in front of the customers? Twice! Food: some items were good some were terrible Waitress great, hostess not.

Worst restaurant experience EVER, the “manager” which would not disclose her name was beyond OFFENSIVE and should not be in the customer service industry. When I tried to give her feedback on our experience she walked away. I mentioned that normally you would try to get the customers feedback so that you can improve on the customer experience in the future. I was then told that I was trying to make a scene and to leave. I have never been treated so poorly to say the least and can not believe that this restaurant is still open. I had read reviews prior to going to Mill Tales Inn, I assumed it was just one or two bad experiences; however I now completely understand where all of these dreadful customer reviews came from. I could go on about what started the customer experience nightmare but at this point am more taken back by the outcome of our feedback. The worst part is, it was my mother in-laws birthday and this is how we finished her birthday dinner, a night to remember none the less. I would strongly suggest NEVER going to the Mill Tales Inn unless you are looking to be insulted and very disappointed.
