Days Inn by Wyndham Barrie

We stayed here for a baseball tournament and paid almost $300 a night for a room that regularly goes for under $120. The rooms are run down and poorly maintained. The curtains are missing hangers and inoperable. There was garbage left behind the TV console, the stopper for the sink was missing, the linens ranged in colour from beige to yellow. The water is yellow and the tubs are stained and have discolored and moldy caulking. There was hair stuck to the wall of the shower when we arrived. Our room had a fridge that was constantly leaking water inside and out.
Our team rented the conference room and had to share it with a bunch of broken fridges that were being stored in there.
The day time desk attendant on the Friday was straight up rude for no reason.
Only reason I have it three stars for service is because the breakfast attendant was lovely and on it, making food, wiping tables, sweeping the floor. By far the cleanest portion of the hotel. The weekend day auditor was very nice and helpful.

Very false representation of the condition of this property. The hotel and rooms have a smell, the hot tub was green, pool was murky. Rooms were run down, bathroom was dirty, towels were stained yellow. Property is not secure, anyone can enter the doors without key cards around the building. Do not recommend a stay here!

Checked in with one other traveller. Immediately aware of false advertising of hotel's condition. Hot tub was inoperable with no water, even when we were told it was working. Pool was cool and should have been cleaner.
Rooms are worn, paint on walls marred. Blackout curtains would have worked if hung properly. Toilet was loose and shaky. The entry door seems to have been slammed open a couple times as the door stop was sunken into the previously patched wall.
Other amenities in room were good, beds comfy, but vacuuming under the bed would be highly advised.
Breakfast was good, but I questioned the spotted brown bananas.
My most major concern was that the hotel was dangerously accessible and not secure. The back doors were unlocked, did not require a key card even after 11pm.
This hotel may be catering to long term rental people as a trio of guests seemed to be loitering and permanent and smoking at the front entrance. We were approached by them outside while they were smoking and in the stairwell felt followed by them.
I will not stay here again and would not recommend at this price. I will be looking at it's 2 neighbouring hotels when I checkout.

Lubna♡ She was the lady at the front desk and was the sweetest woman ever. We checked in so easily, she was super sweet to us. My daughter and I were in town to visit a college and my other daughter came, she had no issues allowing us 3 people instead of two. She also allowed us to stay a little later today due to car issues and was so so helpful.
I will say the bathroom was a little run down and the hot tub wasnt hot at all BUT the breakfast was really good, comfy beds and a good sleep! Plus the pool was fun.
Would stay again for the service alone. Thank you Lubna for everything. Youre incredible.

We stayed at this hotel for only one night, from about 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. The room cost $235 for the night, which is already quite expensive. At check-in, the hotel also took a $200 safety deposit, which we were told would be returned if nothing in the room was damaged or missing.
After checkout, I checked my bank account and discovered that the hotel had charged me an additional $185. When I called to ask why, I was told it was because there were blood stains on the towels and on the bed sheet, and they claimed they could not remove them.
This explanation is extremely surprising and difficult to believe. These were fresh stains from only a few hours earlier, and any professional hotel laundry service should be able to remove blood stains from sheets and towels.
Nothing in the room was broken, damaged, or missing. The room was otherwise left in normal condition. Charging a guest $185 for something that can be washed is unreasonable and feels like an abuse of the deposit policy.
For me, $185 is a significant amount of money, especially after already paying $235 for one night. I have stayed in many hotels and have never experienced anything like this.
Charging $185 for washable stains is simply unacceptable.
I feel very disappointed and frustrated with how this situation was handled. I hope the hotel management reviews this charge and considers issuing a refund.

Ok the reviews had me a little concerned but after staying here I know they must of been lies. Ok it’s an older fully remodeled hotel with wood structure not concrete. So expect some noise. Check in was the fastest and easiest check in I’ve ever had l. The girl behind the desk was so nice. The room was clean yes it had some wear and tear but no issues. Beds and pillows were very good. The pool was so warm and extremely clean. The breakfast was really good and fresh. The breakfast guru was an absolute awesome person. He assisted my children which was above and beyond his job. Great stay one of our best.
Thanks 🙏

If I could rate this hotel less than zero I would! Please read the reviews and know they are accurate! I did read them but figured people were over reacting and decided to go a head with my booking. Upon arrival checking in was typical but the minute I was in the room it was evident how rundown it was. Dust was everywhere. Huge dust bunnies on the curtains and lamp shades. Dirt and dust all over the walls and ceiling. Public washrooms are cleaner than mine was. Mold, dirt and rotting walls. But my biggest concern was the blatant prostitution happening and drug activity. The same night we checked in (we were with a hockey team) a member of our group had to call 911 because a man was beaten up so badly he needed paramedics. Police and k-9 were everywhere. I spoke with police and asked if this was a regular occurrence at this hotel and they said they were there all the time and that it was definitely NOT a safe place for children to be. I immediately went to the front desk and asked that my reservation be canceled as they were not able to deliver a clean or safe environment. My request was refused and I was told only the manager could authorize refunds. I have since emailed the manager with no response and called the main desk asking when the manager would be in and am consistently told they don’t know when he will be in and that he doesn’t not have a schedule.

Stayed here for the first time last night.
Definitely not worth the 177$ due to several basic missing amenities/basic cleaning.
Our remote for the TV was not working, we went and got batteries at the front desk, still didn’t work and they had no spare remote,
The shower was filthy, other peoples hair and soap scum around, hand print on the wall over the headboard.
The cleaning standards were definitely not there for even basic stuff.
Pro: breakfast was good (eggs, sausage, waffles)
Wont come back though.

This hotel was incredibly disappointing. Our room was absolutely freezing when we got to it, and the heating unit did not work. It only blew cold air — which was strange because the room directly across from us only had heat and their room was 90 degrees. While getting settled for our stay, a family walked into our room because they had also been given keys and assigned our room number. While unpacking we discovered a large electrical wire plugged into a power bar which was then plugged into the wall receptacle and it appears to.

Very disappointed! They had kids hockey teams staying the night we stayed. We were kept awake until nearly 1am with kids running in the halls, parents drinking at the end of the hallways and when we called the front desk we were basically told to suck it up ppl have a right to enjoy their stay. The fridge freezer was filled with ice the 1 shelf had food residue on it the pillow cases on 1 bed were wrinkled as though it wasn't changed and the sink in the bathroom looked like it wasn't cleaned.

Positive: Comfy bed. Negative: Although there was significant snowfall throughout my stay the snow removal contractor was only on property minimally. Compared to Super 8 Barrie and other properties snow removal was sub par and I was walking through deep snow more often than necessary.

First room we recieved rm 132, carpets were full of dirt, bedding dirty, crumps stuck on, tub very dirty. Asked that the room be completely cleaned, trying to be nice. Came back carpet vacuumed, everything else dirty. When to the desk asked for a different room. Lady was very nice, gave me two room to pick from and found a clean one. One mattress was broke, roll right off the one side, lock to room broken, and everything vet dated and no upkeep. Wrapper found under bed. Last night, very noisy with kids running and screaming thru the halls and above us. I went in for hours with no one addressing the disrespect, until we went to the desk. The walkway by our patio doors and parking lot left uncleared from snow storm. Breakfast was the exact same for 6 days, scrambled eggs and sausage, by day number 4 we didn’t even attempt to go back. No discount offered for the dirty room and room change. Definitely will not be returning.

We enjoyed our stay at the Days Inn. Our room was nice and had a sofa. Pool isn't as big as I imagined but I wouldn't go so far as to say the picture on the website is deceiving. Value for this hotel was very good. Would stay again.

We stayed here one night for a friend’s wedding. Service was great from the beginning, as they graciously accommodated our early check in. Hotel appears newly renovated in some areas, in need of some TLC in others. Room has good amenities (fridge, microwave, coffee maker), and was clean. Continental breakfast was standard, it didn’t disappoint but wasn’t above and beyond either. There were eggs, sausages, a waffle maker, cereal, oatmeal, bread, bagels and muffins. Juice, coffee and tea were available too. Only downside was early finish. The stairs being the only way upstairs is challenging — they are incredibly narrow especially when passing other guests or carrying luggage. Staff were friendly and helpful. With a little attention to detail, things like the stains on the curtains and a rip in the mattress and cosmetic errors in the room and hallway could be improved, which would improve the overall aesthetic of the hotel. Would definitely visit again for an affordable hotel stay.

Stay away from this hell hole — wost hotel experience ever.
If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is an absolute disaster from the moment you walk in. The room smelled like mold and smoke, the sheets were sketchy at best, and the staff acted like you were bothering them just by existing.
For $150+ a night, I expected at least basic cleanliness and functioning amenities. Instead, I got a dingy room, a bathroom I wouldn’t even dare to use, and a door that barely locks — seriously, I didn’t feel safe leaving my bag inside, let alone sleeping there.
Mystery stains/ holes on the walls, and an atmosphere that screamed “get out while you can. ” Honestly, I’d rather sleep on the street than ever stay here again. At least there, I wouldn’t be paying to be miserable.

I was underwhelmed by my 2 day stay at the Days Inn by Wyndham in Barrie, Ontario. We traveled from Nova Scotia and when originally searching for a place to stay, this Inn gave a higher impression then our actual experience. The Inn is located along a strip with several other Inns and hotels along side a very busy highway. Its an older Inn with creaky floors in the hallway, narrow stair wells, no elevator and outdated interior. Our bedroom windows was open upon our arrival and the room had a musty smell as did the hall ways. The bathroom had damaged walls and overall was not as clean as pictures depicted online. The bed is hard but the pillows soft (my favorite part of the room). There is a small pool and a hot tub on site but you need to walk through the lobby to get there which can be a bit awkward if body conscious or looking for more privacy. The hot tub is not as warm as most I've been in but the pool water was nice. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful which I appreciated and the Inn includes a hot breakfast of sausages, eggs, waffles as well as bagels, bread, and apples and some cereal. If you like fruit, there isn't much available (only apples) and there is no yogurt. One of the cereals was out of stock but there is a staff person on sight cleaning and the area is tidy. Its self serve but the staff person will provide help if needed. Its a small kitchenette and dining area. I will probably book elsewhere if I visit the area again in the future.

Stayed over night in Barrie during a road trip. This was a nice hotel. Did not seem to have an elevator though. Breakfast was good even though the employee was hovering over everyone getting breakfast and seeing what they were taking. Waffles, scrambled eggs and the usual breads and cereals were the options for breakfast. The breakfast area was also in the lobby, kinda weird. Room was good, king bed had 4 pillows.
