The seafood chowder is beyond awesome, beautifully seasoned with big chucks of different types of fish. I usually go for seafood chowder when I go out to restaurants and I had quite a few, this you blew them all away.

My boyfriend and I ate here today and were beyond impressed with the service, the food and the atmosphere. We both had chowder to start and it was absolutely amazing. Our main meal was the clams and chips. It was beyond our expectations. Huge servings, absolutely delicious, best clams we ever had. Bathrooms were super clean, staff was super friendly, food was super good. Highly recommend. We will be back for sure.

First time there while passing through. Dining room was recommended. Beer was flat and white wine not chilled enough. An hour wait for food and it was not busy. Fish and chips were okay. The second entree (pesto haddock) lacked flavor and was overcooked. Served with baked potato but no sour cream available. One table over was offered yogurt as a substitute but we were not. Our waitress was very friendly.

Fantastic service and welcoming atmosphere. You are always greeted warmly and treated as if you are the only guests they are serving at the time. Their attention to detail is one of the little extras.

The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely. Wood paneling, fireplace, quite romantic. Courteous, efficient staff. They don't have a large menu, but everything is homemade and fresh. THE best fish and chips EVER.

Had dinner, awesome food and the service excellent, loved the history of the inn, so interesting.

Down that way a few years ago. Beautiful. My husband and I still talk about the food and how delicious it was.

Stayed there a few years ago and loved it. David and Phillip were absolutely fabulous on Saturday and would love for you to be able to book them again before the weather cools. The place was jammed we all loved it and so did my out of town company. ❤️❤️

What a hidden gem this place is. We stopped in for breakfast last Sunday morning. The food, service and atmosphere was second to none. Joanne (I believe was our servers name), she was fantastic, and made the best Latté, Chai tea and London Fog drinks we’ve ever had. The food was tasty, well portioned and well priced. As we were heading back to Dartmouth the next day, we stopped in and got a lattè and London Fog for the drive home. It’s started our day off right. Thank you!

Friendly staff, clean rooms with decent amenities, great proximity to the water with some nice views. Restaurant had a great supper service and the food was delicious (really unique nachos). Breakfast was too understaffed, so we didn't end up getting any.

We've stayed here a few times and like this place. Nice and clean. People are Friendly… Scenery is awesome. The omelette for breakfast was the best we've had! Two negatives though. The fan in the bathroom didn't work. The TV only offered cable channels and the Movie on demand was not available.

Simply put, Lane's Privateer Restaurant is awesome. Their service is second to none, Lisa, our server that evening was amazing. Lisa was outstanding from start to finish. The food was excellent especially the Mersey clams. And their bourbon Manhattan's were perfect.

Looked at the menu online and decided to go for lunch. We were disappointed to find out they were serving the brunch menu only and not what we had been looking at online. The waitress was quick to ask what we had our hearts set on, and was very accommodating to get us our requests from the main menu. Very good customer service! And of course good food as well!

Love this place! We come here every time we are near Liverpool. They make the best Fish Cakes and home-made beans. The beans are made in house. They also make literally the best molasses brown bread in the province. If this is your cup of tea, definitely give this place a visit. They also sell the bread and I always buy a loaf before I leave to take home. Best bread ever. The inn is also lovely and has great views of the waterfront and is in the heart of downtown Liverpool, where the pirates used to roam. Great historical stop.

Very nice, historic atmosphere and location with a variety of menu items and very high quality ingredients. Fish and chips are highly recommended. We have been to the Inn in the past and found the accommodations to be clean and staff friendly and helpful. A top class historic Inn with matching restaurant.

Fish and chips was great. Excellent homemade batter and fresh fish, homecut fries, and fantastic homemade tartar sauce. Large selection of craft beers and ciders, many from the local Hell Bay Brewing just across the bridge, with 10 to choose from. If you have a hard time deciding, you don't have to as they offer a 4 beer flight for only $8. That's right — $8. Charming old building with a cozy atmosphere, very friendly servers. If you go to Liverpool and don't stop here for lunch and a pint, you're doing yourself a disservice.

Older home converted to hotel. Charming, great staff. Had dinner at the restaurant with a large group and we were all pleased with the food.

Small portions compared to previous visits. Had fish and chips; one medium fillet small container of fries and a mystery greens salid. Fish was not "fresh".

I am hesitant to write this, but because it was good money spent for what we had hoped would be a great mean, I will. We visited on February 14/18, and were first surprised that there were no “special” offerings for the day, other than liquor. We started off with a large Caesar salad, which was “okay” (we’ve had better, we’ve had worse). We then ordered our meals — Fish and Chips, and Turkey Pot Pie. What a disappointment — the fish tasted, as it was described — “like when you get a piece of hardwood caught up in the table saw and it has the burning smell”. This was relayed on to the staff, who had nothing to do with cooking the food — they asked if it was okay and were told. No one asked about the pot pie, and this was worse than the fish! It looked beautiful when it first came out beautiful golden crust, awesome — then I cut into it to let the heat out. The crust immediately fell into what looked more like turkey chowder — way too much sauce to be in pastry, which was pulled out and left on the plate — it was so gummy and slimy, I couldn’t stand to put it in my mouth, so I ate most of the contents, while pulling out the crust that was supposed to be the sides and bottom of the pie.
I’m not saying that all of their food is unappealing, but wouldn’t suggest these two dishes. * note: they did give us 15% off the fish dinner.

A great weekend! Great food, delicious lobster and great music. And a film at the beautiful town theatre. Wonderful getaway weekend!

Great dinner at a great price! Excellent service. Husband and I had beer and the Shepherd's Pie special, delish! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I only wish it wasn't nighttime so I could see across the bay. I'll be back!

Always a relaxed and friendly evening. Love the cod cakes. I've never had a meal I didn't enjoy here. There is a great selection of local beer on tap. Vegetarian options. We've enjoyed the musical groups that play here too which gives a homey feel. Love the decor and view of the water. In summer the outside seating s lovely. We've felt equally accepted after a hard day of renovations as we have dressed for a special occasion. Thanks.

This amazing, quaint and charming hotel stole my heart. We stayed at Lane's for a friend's wedding and the staff, room and restaurant were all excellent. The hotel and rooms are older but this adds to the experience and the staff keep the place clean. Thank you for a great time, we will hopefully be able to return.

Lanes food is really good and very well priced I find. I have never spent the night there but I have been in one of the rooms for a few mints it was small but very nice.

While the food may be a bit above average, we made the mistake of ordering a lunch to go. We called 25 min in advance and when we arrived nothing was ready. We waited another 25 min or so before any food was prepared. And it was very overpriced for what we got. Honestly I would avoid unless you are prepared to sit and even then your patience will be fried…

Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and kind. The restaurant has delicious food and the rooms are well kept. I have Celiac disease, and the restaurant and desserts are extremely well done; the chefs were knowledgeable about my allergies and I did not get sick at all! The lighthouse lunches are amazing as well. I'm am definitely going to be returning many times more for longer stays.

Everyone was helpful and friendly and the restaurant has an excellent selection of food and beer. The outdoor patio has a beautiful view of the river and the rooms are fantastically furnished. We fell in love with this hotel and this city and definitely want to come back soon!

Went for lunch with another vacationing family while visiting Liverpool. Most of us had the fish platters. Generous size fish and plenty of fries. Biscuits before the meal were delicious and came with whipped butter. Staff was very friendly and happy to engage in "tourist talk" (how deep pronounce "Mouton"? Lol)

Great food and service, rooms just okay but friendly helpful staff more than make up for it. Try the pan fried haddock and pear blue cheese salad!

Stayed in Liverpool for work. We rent a house across the river. Lanes Inn is one of the reasons we stay here. This year not so good. The service is slow and unattentive. The food was not the same quality this year.

Great atmosphere in the restaurant, new renovations overlooking the water are great. Nice service staff. Stayed in new suite, very nice. Feels like a new york room, much more than you would expect from the old building.

Wow. Food to die for. The chowder was great. The sausage burger was great. Me wife's fish and chips. The best I've tasted. The Hunky Dory beer fabulous. The patio view incredible. I wish I could stop time and stay in this moment.

Food is average and way overpriced, especially for a place like Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Nothing to see here, in fact, it's a depressed area — really bad area. Don't go.
