My wife and I had the chicken briyani which is rice and spiced chicken with a huge side salad, it was amazing and even though I ordered it spicy it was still very doable and tasty. The portions we’re enough that we have generous left overs. They even had green tea to opt in for a pop and the lady who served us was a sweet heart and the food was ready in 15min! They have a 24hr notice option for ordering non-menu ethnic food like butter chicken so we will be taking advantage of that next time we are in the area. The prices are also good considering the portions and they were open pretty late for a Sunday in the depths of winter. I did sneak a bite of my daughters chicken stripes and that was also so fresh and tasty with good quality fries.

Service was awesome! food was delicious, I had chicken burger and my husband had the 3 piece chicken, chicken wasnt dry or greasy, lots of flavor. We will be back for more!

Too heavily battered. Batter had a strange taste. Maybe an Indian spice flavor?
Cole slaw was gray in color. Macaroni salad wasn't much better. Fries were ok.

Hands down best fried chicken in Cape Breton. Try it, you will not be dissapointed.

I was very pleased with this hotel. Honestly was expecting a crappy motel. Got a clean, modernly equipped nice room. Super happy. I would stay here again when I come back.

I thought this was a great motel. You could tell the rooms have been renovated. Bathroom redone very nicely. Very comfortable beds. New furniture. Everyone has a back door towards the lake/river. Staff was VERY friendly. Breakfast was good. We did not eat there for dinner so not sure. We would stay again!

Very busy motel. Beautiful views of the lake and access to the water. Clean comfortable rooms, very affordable. Perfect for motor tourists. The management is also very attentive and the service was great.

Very friendly staff. Family owned and very hardworking. I was nervous to stay here after reading some bad reviews mentioning shower mould. The Motel was in great shape and has clearly been through a recent renovation. The room was very modern and had more of a hotel feel. Sadly there is no beach, as mentioned online, but there is a beautiful lake at the end of a green lawn. A few minutes taking in the view and I wasn’t so bothered about the lack of sand. Ate this evening in the onsite restaurant. Food was good and well priced. Continental breakfast was quite good as well. Pool is well maintained and clean.

Rooms are very nice — much nicer than you would expect from a motel. The owner renovated the entire building when he purchased it and made the rooms more modern — our room had laminate floors, a flat screen, and nice decor. Free hot breakfast in the morning was a bonus, as was checking out at 11am. Great place to stay either just before starting or just after finishing the Cabot Trail!

Rooms are nicer than the place initially appears on the outside. Staff are very friendly and the owner chats with the guests at breakfast. Gorgeous views. Breakfast included and there is a restaurant as well. Overall nice place to stay and was pleasantly surprised. Good value and there is internet included as well.

Needs upgrading. Needs better TV for night time. Breakfast was poor and cold.

We stopped here for the night on our way back from the Cabot Trail. It was in the perfect location and the owners and facilities were great! The rooms were beautiful and very modern, and had everything we could have needed during our stay. The owners brought each room a little basket full of food for breakfast, including fresh muffins they had just made. Great place and great service — if we’re in the area again in the future, we would definitely stay here again!

The service was really bad. They where not the nicest people. There free breakfast was really bad. And the room walls where paper thin. Smelled like smoke all the time.

We were stuck looking for a room on a sat night, the Trailsman was booked solid but the wonderful lady who worked there spent a fair amount of her time on the phone calling every other place nearby hoping to find us a place to stay. Eventually she found us a place but before we left we made sure to book our next night with her at the Trailsman and when we arrived there for the night every thing was great. Very clean place and lovely people.

Nice little spot to spend the night. Incredible view of the lake and is right on the water. Beds were comfortable and clean. Guest staff friendly and polite. Continental breakfast was limited for options. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The linen towels etc. Were fresh and clean. The bathroom/shower spotless. The owners friendly and helpful. The room was recently renovated and the scent including the hallway was fresh. The continental breakfast was adequate. If we happen to be in Badeck again we will definitely stay there.

Good, clean hotel. Next to a lake. Great staff. Amenities are good. Bathroom was clean. Pretty impressive for being almost in the middle of greenery.

Beautiful lake view outside the rooms! Family friendly atmosphere with good management staff. The breakfast included was plentiful. Some minor improvements needed such as providing more bathroom facilities (extra towels).

Loving this place! We're here early, getting ready to hold our triennial family reunion here this weekend and the place, the owner and the staff couldn't possibly be better. Honestly, they're the friendliest, most helpful, most accommodating, and supportive group we could hope for. They're delightful and this place is a total gem. Don't let the label motel fool you. This place embraces you like a resort, for a fraction of the price. Fantastic amenities!

This hotel is the most reasonably priced in the area and has a lake view right outside the back door of every room. It is in the perfect location for driving the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island. The walls between rooms seems a bit thin so we could definitely hear our neighbours. However, the king bed was very comfortable and all the amenities we needed were provided (breakfast, Wi-Fi, fridge). The staff at check-in and in the breakfast room were very friendly. We would gladly stay in this hotel again and recommend for those looking to visit the area!

Hard to sleep. Poor sound insulation, noisy doors and cracking floors that you hear your neighbors walking on. Ok for the price but I'll budget for a better hotel next time.

Stopped here on our way to Cabot Trail staff was great and the view over the water was wonderful after a long drive.

Before travelling around the Cabot Trail, our family stayed at the Trailsman Motel on TCH 105, near Baddeck, NS. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable (and supportive matresses), complete with A/C, and a generous sized mini-fridge. The kids enjoyed swimming in the pool, we liked having laundry facilities to dry some of our wet clothing, and the staff was friendly. The view was beautiful, on the lake shore; so we had our snacks at one of the picnic tables. In the morning our family enjoyed having the complimentary continental breakfast in the motel dining room, overlooking the lake. Breakfast was delicious, with an assortment of dry cereals, homemade bread, muffins, fresh fruit (berries, watermelon, grapes) and fruit salad, yogurt, cottage cheese, orange/apple juice, coffee, tea. My only complaint was that I wished they had 2 QUEEN beds in the rooms, instead of 2 DOUBLE beds, as it would have given us more room for sleeping; as well, I would recommend that a plastic liner be used with the fabric shower curtain, to prevent the water from soaking the fabric, and so there wouldn't be puddles on the bathroom floor after having a shower. I would stay in this motel again, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a clean room, with a supportive mattress, and a nutritious breakfast to start the day and/or journey.
