A historic and grand old mansion converted to a boutique hotel. The hosts are wonderful and provided a pleasing tour of the house upon arrival. There is ample common space for the guests to relax — we enjoyed a glass of wine I. The beautiful sun room after our dinner in Nelson. The gardens are also wonderful and well worth strolling through or sitting to read a book. Great views of Kootenay Lake also add to the magic. Our room was large and everything I. Good working order despite its antique age! We highly recommend Blaylock Manion!

This property is absolutely beautiful and the house is gorgeous and very well kept. The staff and owner on the other hand seem like they don’t want to do their jobs/don’t want anyone there half the time and the other half they are like prison guards. If they’re going to act like that maybe it’s best if it’s not rented out for high traffic events such as weddings. I was there for a wedding and minus them breathing down our necks constantly it was great. I would recommend having your ceremony there and that is all. And even then make sure you have your own wedding coordinators to move people along. Michelle personally complained about the wedding I was a part of not realizing that I was a guest at the wedding and not hired staff. I do not recommend having your reception there or staying there as you will be “too much of a hassle” for the staff. The breakfasts were basically non-existent and it seemed like there was always a staff member or the owner tucked into a corner of the mansion or at the wedding reception to catch you doing something wrong. Even though I’m not entirely sure why they needed to be anywhere inside the mansion when it is rented out. The staff being so intimidating & controlling really ruined the whole weekend. The bride cried at one point because they wouldn’t leave her and the bridesmaids alone the day of the wedding and that will forever be in her mind as a part of her wedding day. Like I said, I would recommend for a ceremony only.

Even though the property was lovely, my friends wedding was not as enjoyable as we hoped. Michelle kept popping into the bridal suite. Complaining constantly. Not accomidating people's needs. One girl asked if coffee was available and she told her to go into town to get it. Mark was also rude. For the amount of money the couple paid for the mansion… they shouldn't have felt as crappy as they did. Not good customer service. Mark and Michelle seemed like they really don't enjoy thier job. The way they spoke to some of the guests was absolutely unacceptable. I definitely don't recommend the mansion.

I was just at blaylocks for a wedding. Though the property is beautiful, the staff and owner are horrible. They made everyone feel uncomfortable and uninvited. Absolutely would never go back.

This property is absolutely stunning and a great location for a wedding. I was there for a wedding recently and the staff seemed a little inappropriate at times. Michelle kept bothering the bride and bridesmaids while they were preparing. The pictures will look wonderful but the bride was crying at one point because of the staff so that memory will be etched in her mind forever.

We booked the presidential suite for our honeymoon and we were pleased with the friendly service and beautiful grounds. I highly recommend the breakfasts as well.

Amazing people, And incredible food!

It was my first time staying in a B&B! The breakfasts were amazing! Michelle puts so much love into it! The place is beautiful! I enjoyed reading the history and looking at all the pictures!

We stayed two nights and had a wonderful time at the Blaylock Mansion. It was definitely an experience that we will look forward to again. Michelle and Mark were lovely personable hosts that we enjoyed talking to. Michelle is an amazing chef; our first breakfast — Eggs Benedict was to die for! Note, breakfast is $15/day per person. The house itself is beautiful, huge, comfortable, and relaxing. One afternoon it was raining, we snuggled up on a big comfy chair and watched a couple movies from their large selection (DVD, Netflix, Crave, etc. ). We went for a dip in the beautiful pool, played a little tennis (rackets were nice but new balls were needed), had a short basketball game, took a rest in the hammock, and went for a lovely stroll in the gardens. The archive room was fun to peruse and Michelle answered any other questions we had about the mansion and Mr. Blaylock. Such a great experience!

My daughter was married at the mansion in early August. Everything about the mansion was magical! Mark and Michelle were amazing hosts. Everything we needed they made sure we had. Michelle also made the most scrumptious breakfasts for us every morning. It was a weekend we will never forget. Thank you so much Mark and Michelle for helping us have one of the most amazing fairytale weddings ever!

This is such a beautiful place! Mark and Michelle are wonderful people who made us feel right at home and were very accommodating to anything we needed. The property is gorgeous, the garden is like something from a fairytale. The beds are incredibly comfortable. I had a fabulous time! I highly recommend staying here.

As part of the 403 Selects U15 volleyball family we were cordially invited by the owners to spend the Easter Long weekend together with them — to relax and enjoy the Blaylock mansion. What a wonderful time we had together. The mansion is stunning — rich in history and beauty. It was also the perfect place to do the murder mystery party — that was so much fun. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The estate has a unique collection of mature trees, waterfalls and beautiful… tiered gardens which will be even more amazing when the gardens are all in bloom. The owners along with Mark & Michelle were wonderful hosts who make you feel at home A huge thank you!. The Blaylock team did an outstanding job in making our experience a most memorable one. If you don't have this on your bucket list — add it! If you already checked it off, do it again. We have and we cannot wait to go back!

I have worked a handful of events bartending here at the Blaylocks and it by far is more beautiful every time I go. Each wedding was in a different spot thru out the property and each spot was over the top romantic and beautiful. Recommended 100%

We had a lovely stay at the Blaylock Mansion; although it was winter, we enjoyed crackling fires, lovely warm conversation, wine and cheese, relaxing hot steam room sessions, and scrumptious breakfasts. We really enjoyed the history and all the beautiful antique pieces, the artwork, and the company of Mark and Michelle. We would really enjoy coming in the summer and seeing everything in full bloom and enjoying the lovely pool. The mansion looks like an absolutely fabulous venue for a wedding, we would recommend it as a beautiful, unique experience.

My husband and I had a highly enjoyable time at the Blaylock. It's in a great location; we were able to visit Nelson. But, being winter time, the Blaylock was a great accommodation to return to/hang out if we did not want to venture into town! The caretakers, Mark and Michelle, do a great job creating a unique experience, making us feel right at home, serving delicious breakfast and being friendly and helpful. The mansion has a great historical and cozy feel. Mark and Michelle are doing a great job as newer caretakers! We definitely want to visit again to see the beautiful garden in bloom!

Comfortable room, with a great games room and comfortable fireplace sitting area. The staff are friendly and the upstairs is full of interesting history. This is a great venue for a small gathering.

The Blaylock provided a beautiful setting for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration yesterday. The winter setting was lovely and the lavish Christmas decorations a delight. The food was great, the service was excellent and the venue was perfect, offering really nice accomodation and breakfast for the folks who do not want to drive after celebrating. Look no further than the Blaylock when you are having a special event — it is wonderful!

We had our wedding there in October, and though it was beautiful, the people that run the place and the groundskeepers are terrible at communication and we didn't feel supported through the year long process. We enjoyed our time, but be weary of the logistical side of it. Hopefully this improves. If you were just staying there for the bed and breakfast side of it, it is lovely. I think they need to improve their wedding management.

A large old mansion with old world charm and hospitality. The beds are so comfortable you may not want to get up! The linens are pure luxury. The owner of the mansion was here and most welcoming. The staff love their jobs and it shows. Their attention to details is impressive as is their respect and integrity.

Excellent resort and spectacular grounds and views.

Well my wife Jeanette and son Joshua wanted to go somewhere different coming from Edmonton. We decided to try Blaylock mansion and so happy we did. Michelle and mark were so hospitable and we have never have done a bed and breakfast before. We had met some very nice people and my 10 year old is raving about staying in a mansion and how awesome a chief Michelle was too! We will be back and thanks again for the warm hopitality and will tell everyone how Wonderful our stay was Thank you once again Mark and Michelle The McDonalds.

The mansion was so beautiful. All though I had breakfast which was coffee and gronola and youghurt and my daughter a waffle she didnt even eat all of it, and its $30 for that. Thry charge me an extra days breakfast and when I inquired they didnt answer my email. Michelle the new manager also told my 4 year old daughter a few times how she would get mad at her if she ran or anything in the house. Would never go back unless other people manages it.

Of course it's an absolutely stunning setting but what set it apart was the warm and generous nature of the staff. From groundskeeper to management, everyone showed how much they wanted to share this beautiful facility with guests. I felt as if it was my home, too. Great time. Thank you all!

My husband and I were looking forward to staying at Blaylock a couple of weeks ago. When we got there no one was there — we called the owners and it turned out that they confused us with another reservation and cancelled ours (they were out of town) — We were super bummed. It seemed like the managing could have used a little more organization.

My wife and I rented Blaylock's Mansion for our wedding. The mansion has 1 large "Presidential" suite, and 6 other smaller rooms. We used the large suite for ourselves, and put our wedding party up in the rest of the mansion. We all stayed at the mansion for 3 nights, and we had our wedding photos, ceremony, and reception all on site. The venue is fantastic. The scenery is gorgeous, and there are lots of places for great photos. The grounds include a very nice rock garden, a tennis court, a pool, and several grassy areas for fun and games. The rooms are a little 80's, but very comfortable. The breakfast served each morning was also great. Delicious home made granola, fresh coffee and juice, and usually some sort of egg dish. They were very accommodating to the vegetarians we had in the group. The one downside was the fact that the owner's family as well as the family of the couple who runs the B&B are often on site during the summer. While they kept to themselves and were very good about letting us have priority on the facilities when we wanted them, it was definitely a less "private" feeling than we were expecting having rented the entire grounds for the weekend. The owners and operators made a great effort to give our party our space, but a little prior warning would have been appreciated. Overall, I would highly recommend Blaylock's Mansion. Either as a wedding venue, or as a great place to stay in Nelson for a few days.
