Hawthorne Park House 2 Homestay

Decent oasis in the middle of working class neighbourhood. It's small, but it has a lot of blackberry bushes. Also, the odd corpse… don't go in the dark.

Used to be a nice place until they went through it with a bulldozer…

Beautiful park in Whalley area of Surrey BC. There are nice wooded walking trails entry and exit to different direction to neighbourhood. Awesome during spring and summer season. There is enough free parking slots, good to bring children to play and observe ducks in ponds. Plenty of flowers to cool your eyes. It's close to Guildford mall, if you want tonrelax after mall visit this is the place to head.

Great park. Love to bring my kids there. Not happy about the road construction happening right now. Took out a bunch of trees that were part of the park.

Smaller neighborhood park with short loop trails, playground and water park. Currently discussions and petitions on roadway development that will cut through part of the park reducing the park size. over the winter even though we had little snow, there are some portions of the trail that have fallen trees and branches. Since January many of these have not been cleared yet, although likely some regulars have shoved some of the larger branches out of the way a bit. also noticed and issue over summer months is there is a lot of trash that is accumulated at the east pond, also during warmer months youths tend to hang out and there is usually a strong smell of marijuana use. Also the ponds are not directly fed from any creeks, the area tends to attract a mosquitos and flies, and can also start to have some funky smells. It is also quite possible there are some homeless dwellers that are camping out in the northern end of the park in the brush. Sometimes you can see noticeable bike and foot tracks into the brush, and not showing and return markings. the park is generally safe, although the south side is more widely used due to the water play and picnic shelters.

It's very good for picnics with friends and family. This place has a park for children, and walking trails. It's very pretty. The problem is that homeless live there and you would find their belongings in the roof of the picnic table. Other then that it's a great place.

A beautiful Park as is! Too soon be ruined by the bulldozers putting a road through it! Part of the natural trails (which are the draw) will be gone and more manicured stuff put in. I go to the park for the natural walking trail because it is an easy walk and great for the dog. Friendly people. This park is used by many in the community and the city is going to ruin it by putting the road in and allowing for the pollution of the air and the catastrophic loss of trees.

We recently visited Hawthorne Park and Gardens for the first time. It is a small park, but has improved paths leading around and makes for a good short walk. The playground and water park for children is first class and the number of small bridges leads you over the streams going thru the park. The Garden area looks like it will be spectacular come spring time. So we will be back. Well worth a family outing.
