RR Casino was a place that my retired parents enjoyed frequenting since moving out to the lower mainland nearly two years ago, and has been a place that I have stayed at and even referred others to visit/stay at — NO LONGER.! Longer story short: last night a well-meaning RR casino floor manager lacked a bit of empathy in trying to resolve/follow up on an episode of verbally-abusive behavior by (likely. ) a mentally-dysfunctional couple, who initially — for some reason — took umbrage to my dad casually and briefly observing some of their game-table play. This is something I myself would do — and notice many others 'cruise about' — just to try and be entertained by 'people-watching', pure and simple, no other motive and just trying to be the 'proverbial fly on the wall'. I failed to witness the original episode last night that bothered my dad, but he claims that he was in the process of just switching from one slot machine to another — like so many typically do — and he and a few others couldn't help noticing the m-d couple as they attempted some higher-stakes gambling (RR is a casino after all. ) at one of the public/open card tables. For some idiotic reason, this was what the m-d couple took umbrage to in the way they phrased their desire for privacy, to which Dad replied with ". Well, this is a public venue (plus it wasn't like the m-d couple owned RR casino and to be able to dictate policy. ) and again, I'm simply just part of the traffic passing thru. " As I said, I somehow missed the initial exchange, but Dad likely wanted to have the satisfaction of 'the final word' by just telling the m-d couple a parting but polite piece of his mind. Regrettably this was when the exchange spiraled into a verbally-abusive remark delivered by the baseball cap half of the m-d couple, and right after is when I elected to bring this to the attention of RR casino (so-called. ) customer service — neither the card dealer nor so-called supervisor nearby intervened, but they certainly witnessed and heard the m-d couple's idiotic stance. Thanks to all for having read this far — some closing nuggets for you: 1) during a previous stay at this casino hotel, my traveling companion (& some other guests. ) had been bothered by some recurring noise from a nearby suite — this in spite of repeated escalations to the front desk to have resolved. This eventually ended up in a SWAT-like response by a number of security-types milling out in the hallway around the offending room, as they eventually escorted the offending couple out; and 2) a certain hotel front desk woman deserves kudos in helping to re-postdate some breakfast buffet vouchers (that we couldn't take immediate advantage when my companion fell too sick to properly enjoy, during another previous stay. ). When we initially tried to have them post-dated via another front desk staffer, she bluntly refused claiming that our request was impossible to fulfill — this earned a puzzled response from the original front desk staffer who did eventually do so with a smile (my apologies for not recalling the names involved. ). Had also tried to deal with one of the restaurant GM's as recommended, but none ever returned our calls or attempted to follow up. Bad, bad! RR casino, time to shape up! And won't miss having to walk thru "smoker's row" when heading to/from the parking either. Also bad, bad.
