Crosswaters Resort at Kananaskis

I am unsure why anyone would rate this less than a 5 across the board. The rooms were clean and have been updated since last year. The hotel was quiet, no one running in the halls or making noise waking us up in the middle of the night. The breakfast offerings were more than adequate as were the hot "appetizer" style snacks in the afternoon. The live music in the afternoon was a nice touch as well. The staff were friendly and accommodating and when we noticed a leak on the seal around the toilet, someone was sent up immediately to fix the issue. Not a negative to be found.

Truly spoiled.
We have been to the Pomeroy numerous times, but on this specific trip we ended up getting upgraded to the Black Diamond Club?! We already loved coming here, everytime has been wonderful! At first we were worried about the ‘upgrade’, unsure if we were getting tricked but quickly we recognized the quality and attention that is giving before you even get your room card. Every single person working at the black diamond club was a complete pleasure. Kind, polite, and so incredibly friendly. Our little family already loved coming to the pomeroy but I feel like we are ruined from the Black Diamond. The lobby/lounge is a truly wonderful experience. You still have games to play, a gorgeous fireplace to enjoy, endless snacks and drinks. You still get to enjoy all the amenities and activities from the pomeroy and you get the quiet. We came this time to enjoy the Merry Kananaskis activities and we are so glad we did. The hotel really does go all out for this time of year, and we have loved every activity. I would recommend booking early, and talking to concierge to book in your favourite activities if you have kids, ours especially love the popcorn and pj night — and we love it because we can do the twilight soak at Nordic Spa. The Elf tuck in was super cute, the nightly s’mores, the reindeer, the gingerbread lane tour, the train ride, the crafts at the elf workshop… it has been incredible. I meant it, we feel super spoiled, and potentially ruined.

Recently my girlfriend and I were staying at the Black Diamond Club. The experience exceeded all of our expectations. From the front desk to the staff on site, everyone was welcoming, helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay excellent. The happy hour menu is out of control. They have the best food and lots of tables to sit and enjoy. The coffee machine made my day. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here if you're planning a visit to Kananaskis.

Our stay at the Black Diamond Club a few weeks ago was fantastic. The room was comfortable, the food is delicious, and the service was good… until we left.
I hate leaving reviews like this but I've tried to resolve it via phone twice. On Tuesday I asked for a manager to phone me about the outstanding damage deposit refunds and it is now Friday and I have not had a phone call.
We left on a Friday morning. On Friday afternoon my husband saw a charge to his card that was $600. Our room charge was $30-something. I phoned right away to find out what this was. It was the charge for the room — which had been prepaid and booked through Expedia months before. We should not have been charged for this, so they said they'd send me a refund.
During this same call, they told me I'd been charged the damage deposit twice, once on the card used on Expedia, and once on the card used at check in, so they were refunding both.
The refund for the second room charge came through, but on the wrong card. It went back onto a business credit card, not the personal credit card we had used to cover the room bill. Now we have to do the bookkeeping required to move this money out of the business and back to my husband not as income, which is annoying. I also don't know how this is possible as there was not a reference transaction that large to refund.

Stayed at the main lodge last time, and the experience was mediocre given the fact that it's a Marriott hotel. Decided to come back and give the black diamond club a try and it was night and day. Everyone was super friendly and helpful during the stay. The amenities were brand new and super high-end. On top of that, nothing beats the lounge access. I honestly hope less people find out about this place so it stays nice and quiet!

Just left Black Diamond and I already can’t wait to plan my next stay. I celebrated my bachelorette weekend with 4 other guests and we had the most amazing time! From the amazing staff, delicious après, dessert bar, complimentary breakfast, and the absolutely beautiful rooms. The girls and I felt so spoiled ALL weekend long! Kudos to the entire staff at Black Diamond but extra special shoutout to the amazing manager Ana, and staff Alba, Eric, Kimberley, Jaelyn, and David! We also thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Nordic Spa and all of the restaurants on site. Carell at Forte and Gilbert at Cedar Room truly made our dining experiences 10/10, fantastic hospitality! Thank you to EVERYONE who contributed to our unforgettable weekend. We WILL be back!

Our stay at the Crosswater Hotel was generally satisfactory, though there were some notable aspects that did not meet our expectations, particularly considering the price point. Contrary to our initial impression, the hotel designates only one floor for adults only, which happens to be on the main floor. Unfortunately, this location exposed us to disturbances from the passing children and adults, resulting in occasional noise disruptions outside our window.
Moreover, our room exhibited a subpar level of cleanliness and maintenance. Given the reputation of this establishment, we anticipated a higher standard of hygiene and upkeep. Disappointingly, the provided soap, shampoo, and conditioner did not meet the expected quality, prompting us to recommend bringing your own toiletries for an improved experience.
Several amenities within the room were also in disrepair, including a non-functional clock/radio and malfunctioning USB outlets. The room's shelf was unstable and appeared to be detaching from the wall, while the shower displayed signs of insufficient cleaning.
It is worth noting that we received information about ongoing roof maintenance on the day of our arrival. While we understand the necessity of such maintenance, it would have been preferable to receive advance notice and perhaps an adjustment in pricing to account for the potential disruptions.

I was so excited to be at Crosswaters and it was disappointing unfortunately. The king delux room was not up to standard. I had a mouse trap exposed in the corner of the room, carpet ripped and threading, bathroom trim was really cracked and chipping, my ice bucket which was black leather wrapped on the outside was peeling, the ceiling was patched and stained so much and it had a smell in the room that wouldn't go away. It was a nice sized room and the rest of my experience there outside and in restaurants were lovely but dreaded coming to the room. But so disappointing knowing how much was spent. Would I recommend, no not Crosswaters. Its definitely an older hotel and paid $398 for the room per night plus taxes.

I’m not sure why people find this resort so bad. Ya it’s dated could use a face lift but we had a king room. Room was clean with balcony. Bed was nice same with bathroom big rain shower. We really liked it. First night AC was not working great guy came in it was covered in dust. He cleaned it and it was fine so the resort should take care of things like that. There is no one at the desk in cross water but we had zero issues getting anything. I think people are just to picky.

We love travelling here and the kids always have a blast. It’s the place they love going to the most. The buffets at Forte delicious and the kids do the pool over and over again and never want to leave. Our room was clean and it’s a bit cheaper than staying directly in the Pomeroy. To us there was no difference other than we have to walk outside to get to the pool and the restaurant.
Our waitress also gave us the excellent suggestion of trying the black shale suspension bridge hike. Which was awesome! Really friendly staff!

Rooms do not reflect the price. A free standing ac unit in the room was noisy and barely kept the room at a comfortable temperature. Luckily it was cool outside and we could open the window. No ice machines in the building apparently, and no one to ask. Building was quiet at least and our meal from Woodys was excellent.

For a high price tag, the rooms are so tired. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall, under the window was absolutely filthy, there was a 4" hole in the carpet in the middle of the floor and the ceiling fan was COVERED in dust. I'm not sure if we were just given a tired room because we booked on Expedia but I would recommend staying in the Marriott side because wow, this side of the hotel is rundown. I was really expecting a better room, but of course you can't beat the location. We had breakfast at forno, and our service was impeccable — I believe it was Justinne who served us and she was so kind and attentive. If only the rooms were better maintained.

There are some positives and negatives. First, the positives:
1. The cost is significantly less than staying at the Lodge, but you have access to all amenities of the Lodge.
2. Beautiful area!
3. The Steak House at the Lodge was quite good.
4. We expected crowds during the 1st week of August, yet the Resort area didn't appear crowded.
5. The shower was wonderful.
6. The room was clean, with the only exception being the bottom molding of the sliding glass door.
7. There are a lot of activities available through the lodge. We enjoyed the one making stores. It was fun to watch the kids enjoy activity and the smores were not bad either.
Now for the negatives:
1. The room was NOT SECURE. There are two glass doors that you must open to step outside on the porch. One has a lock; the other does not. The one with the lock was nearly fully open and stuck. It took both of us to move it into the closed position so that it would lock. I fear for anyone who stays in the room and does not realize that the room is not secure.
2. You must check in and out at the lodge. It's a short walk from the lodge, but not a short walk from the Crosswater parking lot. It would have been okay had we known prior to checking in. We found out only when we reached the lobby and saw the sign instructing us to check in at the Lodge. It was a long way to lug our suitcases.
3. There is no one manning the check-in desk at Crosswater. We did not see one employee in the Crosswater part of the complex during our stay.

I was awake the entire night!
The mattress had some kind of divot in it which caused me to roll toward the outer edge of the bed.
The A/C made a racket.
Room service came without utensils.
The duvet weighed a ton and I was boiling all night.
The toilet handle was broken.
I could go on. I went with very high expectations for $350.00 per night.
The manager ended up moping me the room.
Today I am a wreck from no sleep.

Rooms were nice, old style air conditioner on the wall and fairly noisy.
They had updated the rooms and bathroom — only issue was they separated the tub and shower. Yes normally a stand alone shower is nice, but it is really small and barely any room to even turn around.
Would of been better to either have a shower or left as a tub/shower.
Beautiful area, great trails and food was very good at Woody's Pub — excellent service!
Drinks at the lounge patio were also great with the fire tables.

We celebrated our joint wedding anniversaries with another couple and were there for two nights. The hotel has recently been renovated — we had a loft room with a separate upstairs bedroom (and bathroom). Our room had recently been renovated and was very nice — only thing missing were wine glasses. Also enjoyed the nearby Forte Restaurant (in the Pomeroy), the lovely Nordic Spa and the Mt. Lorette Kananaskis Golf Course.

The hotel and restaurant staff were execellent. The food at all the restaurants was good. The hiking trails and access to recreational activities of the area were wonderful.
The room was average. Carpet needed to be cleaned, window would not open and air conditioner really never worked; the a/c was something out of the 1980's. Thought you could at least open the one window to get the mountain air, but handle broke off in my hand while trying to open.
Most of resort could use a paint job and some wood replaced.
