Park Gate Chalets

The cabin was located right beside the highway, so there was a lot of noise from passing traffic. The heating was not sufficient, and we had to rely on firewood to stay warm. While the rooms themselves were nice, the location was disappointing. Considering the price they charged, I would not recommend it.

The wood log cottage is really cute. The room is clean and has a small kitchen. They also have a fire pit and picnic tables. Good location. Really close to Banff.

Cabin.
Everything you need! We stayed 10 days and the refresh of the rooms is fantastic. Thank you all so much. Adorable yellow cabins soooo close to the park. Phenomenal water pressure and quick hot water. We brought our corgi only 35$ fee.

Room not as advertised. No fireplace, duct tape a few places, not all of the lights worked, pullout sofa bed didnt work, BBQ place was a mini portable BBQ not a standard size as pictured, outdoor fireplace was not safe for a fire. Seemed pretty high priced for how "rustic" the cabin was.

Cabins were cozy. We really enjoyed our stay. Well maintained.

We were originally in a different cabin, but we're moved to cabin 4 because of a water leak. This place is a dump and they should be ashamed for charging such high prices for it. The cabins are so unlevel that you are sleeping at an angle to the right and with your head downhill, thresholds are duck taped, you can see daylight in spots through the exterior door, porch steps are broken, there is a weird cut out "trap door" in one of the bedrooms. There is no curtain for the bathroom window, and while it is frosted, you can't leave it open to get air while you're in there, because people can see in. I am angry that we spent so much money to stay here. Only nice thing I can say about this place is that the beds are fairly comfortable.

We stayed in cabin 5 and 7 due to some unexpected plumbing issues in the originally booked cabin 7. Patty, the owner, informed us immediately of the issue before we checked in and relocated us to cabin 5 which was a great surprise. He was kind and prompt. The cabins could use some love in certain spots but they're clean which is all I could ask for. Linens in both cabins were new, clean and the shower stall in cabin 7 is brand new. Happy new year!

Great little spot to get away, just a bit off the highway and very easy to access. This place isn't fancy by any means. It's about as close to "roughin' it" as you can get while still being inside a building. But the rooms are quaint, cosy and absolutely charming if you're not the five-star princess type. Pet-friendly means we can bring along our elderly, arthritic cat who also loves to get away from it all. We've gone there twice (cabin last year and this year) and loved every minute of it. Should mention that both times we went were during off season (last year October and this year December). You will not want for heat: each unit has what I'd call a furnace-style industrial-strength heat blaster that will cook you in no time. But the little wood stove is where it's at, when it's cold out anyway.
Apparently they're wanting to demolish the whole area so they can put up new, fancy/modern (I guess? ) cabin units or whatever, I don't know. I really hope they don't because this place has a real charm to it that I'm pretty sure will be gone once they "upgrade" everything. Not to mention the prices will go up too. But as of now, my wife and I are in love with the place and it has become our yearly late-year getaway. Parkgate Chalets gives you an authentic, rustic, cabin experience that few others can duplicate. And the price (in off-season anyway) is very reasonable. That makes it pretty tough to beat in my book.

Good price in the winter, chalet has everything that is a necessity with nice surrounding area, room is clean and good service. I love this location despite the fact that it is next to the highway but it doesn't bother me at all.

Okay spot for a base but if looking to spend lots of time relaxing I would say look further off the highway.
The cabins are cute but require quite a bit of maintenance.
Pros: comfy beds, clean, cool at night with the fans, fire-pit was lovely to spend an evening around, spacious, cable tv, parking, comfortable for 4 guests in 1 cabin,
Cons: There was a scent booster that sprayed on a schedule that we had to unplug because it was giving us headaches, bathroom and kitchen falling apart, ants in the bed, loud being so close to the highway and some of the provided towels weren’t the cleanest (leftover mascara stains)

It was my first time experience living in Cabin. We booked the Cabin 4 as we were four people. Heat was hard to reach to bedrooms but we used fans to circulate the heat and then it was really hot in the cabin. It can fit upto 6 adults as there was a sofa bed in living room which we used to watch TV together and play games.

A nice stay ruined by horrible neighbours. A nice and cozy cabin tucked between Canmore and Banff. Unfortunately we had a horrible encounter with some long term residence of the cabins and I can't really recommend a stay if your going to be unwelcome by the locals.

Nice little cabins, friendly staff and nice location. We booked cabin and if you move the dining table in front of the window you can eat while looking at the mountains! The fireplace was a nice thing to have with the — 30°c température we got at night during the polar vortex.

We are glad we brought everything we needed!
The price for the winter season is fair. However, given how old and the shape these cabins are in, I dont believe the summer prices are. The location was okay but not the greatest. Distance to canmore and banff was nice BUT the train and hwy 1 traffic noise was bad.
I suggest adding white noise machines to each cabin and complimentary ear plugs for guests to offset this.
We stayed in cabin 4 for the Rustic feel, which didn't disappoint. It was clean, cozy, decorated, and gave a rustic feel. Layout was practical.
Requires some maitenance — shower head was half plugged so pressure was jet only snd hot water was touchy, one of the bedrooms had no light bulb due to the faulty switch so there was only a lamp. Windows could use some work as they were drafty and barely could open and close and held together by a hook. We had homemade bug screens. Bedroom floors are freezing, they could use more insulation, we noticed theres crawl spaces under our bedrooms where all the cold air is coming from. The couch/hidabed in the living room has seen better days and should be replaced. Kitchenette has the basics — stove oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, all worked.
The furnace was situated in the center of the cabins in the living areas. It worked. However, the bedrooms were freezing at night.

It was a nice cozy retreat, we brought our two corgis. The room was clean, rustic feeling. The heating worked well, had a small kitchen. Location was amazing as it is near to Banff and Canmore. Good place to stay for that cabin get away. We did not do any barbecue (it was cold outside) we brought our own food.

Our stay here was okay. The staff were polite. We booked a one bedroom cabin with a living room and a kitchenette (Cabin 2). They advertized that the living room couch can be made into a bed, but it was a different couch than the one shown in the website photos and was too small for a bed as one arm of it was missing. Kids shorter than 4 feet can sleep on it. There were no additional comforter, pillow and bed sheet available if anyone wants to sleep on it. The bathing soap dispenser was empty.
Their location is excellent if you are visiting Banff, but you can hear the highway noise very clearly during the night as it is too close to it. We had to keep our tiny windows open as the cabin gets too hot. Only one fan was provided and when we asked for another we were told that they only provide one fan. When I told the reception that it is too hot and the tiny windows do not help with the air circulation, we were given a portable desk fan that was not very helpful.
We stayed there for five nights and they did not clean the place in between our stay, though we did our best to keep it clean. Our small and narrow kitchenette had open shelves that we used to store everything as there were no other shelves or storage available in the rest of the cabin. We kept our properly ziplocked snack items on the dining table and observed that a mouse was biting on them, so we had to throw them away and had to keep all our food items in our car.

Ants were an issue and getting into the cabin from the cracks of the front door. It was actually pretty gross. The BBQ area was full of dandelions and wasn't mowed. Kids were running through a dandelion field. We didn't even bother checking out the BBQ since if they don't even maintain the field, why would they maintain the BBQ.
The weeds around our cabin were an issue too.
Traffic noise from the highway was also an issue when you have the window opened at night. Not the cleanest and maintained cabin.
I would not recommend.
