Overall stay was generally okay. The rooms were moderately clean, the main island in the room was stained and all counter surfaces had to be wiped down. For a room that accommodated 4 people we only received two towels for our stay and had to ask for more. The breakfast is very basic and carb heavy no real protein option. I would recommend others to read the reviews of the hotel recently as the majority are accurate in regards to room cleanliness. Check in took about an hour for 4 rooms but the staff were helpful and accommodating. Overall, not a bad stay but you need to know what to expect.

This is actually one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in, upon arrival the desk concierge kept coming up to my room because he thought I had drugs with me. Also, I left for dinner one night, and came back to the concierge saying there is no smoking or drinking in the room, I don’t drink or smoke, but apparently my room smelled like it, and I asked him how it smelt like it, and he said he had a maid go into my room and she found cigarettes, weed, and alcohol. MIND you, I do not smoke weed, cigarettes or drink. I simply came from the states for a business trip. So I confronted him about it, and he openly admitted that he was just saying that so that I could admit to it. Crazy right? My room was filthy, it smelt like smoke upon arrival, cups were dirty and greasy, everything was just nasty. I will never go to this hotel again, and I would never recommend it to anyone. Staff were rude, and obnoxious for no reason.

Minha pior experiência de hospedagem no Canadá. Hotel com boa localização, mas essa é a única qualidade do hotel. O atendimento é desprezível, uma empresa familiar que não tem o menor respeito pelo hóspede. Trabalhei 12 anos nesse ramo e eles não tem a menor noção do que estão fazendo. As fotos do quarto sai claramente tratadas, o hotel era um prédio caindo aos pedaços que foi reformado, mas a manutenção não foi feita adequadamente, percebe-se que tudo está meio quebrando ou vai quebrar… A cama é algo a parte… Como um hotel cobra CAD 150.00 por uma cama de Wallmart daquelas? Além disso o funcionario do hotel, filho do dono, Sr. Peter exigiu que pagassemos adiantado pelo quarto mesmo com a autorização de CAD 150.00 de holding em nosso cartão, algo que eu nunca tinha visto antes. Eu e minha esposa nos sentimos extremamente ofendidos com o tratamento do Sr. Peter, que não passa de um garoto grosseiro e mal educado. Tínhamos um outro pernoite nesse hotel horrível mas conseguimos cancelar pelo prazo e pelo mesmo valor ficamos em um resort em promoção. Cuidado! Espero ajuda. Los a não entrar na mesma roubada que nós.

Staff is nice rooms are small but still nice. Breakfast is minimal but nice.

Friendly and helpful staff. Simple place, bed a bit worn down, breakfast very basic. Ok for the price.

POSITIVES: the price and the service. The breakfast was decent which included bagels, cream cheese, muffins, cereals, croissants, bread, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee and fruits. NEGATIVES:Stayed in room 101, I’m not sure if the other rooms are nicer but avoid this room. Do not be fooled by the pictures. The room was not clean, the counters were dirty, there was hair left in the bathroom, the walls were dirty and looked like there was blood near the wall by the bed. The dishes were not clean. The dishwasher was broken (which wasn’t as a problem as we weren’t going to use it), the baseboard heater was zip tied and made a buzzing noise, the lighting in the room was not enough and there were 4 clocks and all of them had different times. There was a mail slot that anyone could open and look into the suite and directly at the bed. Also, the parking was a block away and was $10 a day which should have been included in the hotel fee.

Ok hotel. No soundproofing at all, extremely noisy surrounding. Central location is good.

One of the worst hotel experiences I have had. I thought I had booked a steal for the value but it was anything but. The AC units in the rooms do not work and the rooms become very uncomfortable. The hotel also nickels and dimes its guests to make up for the cheap prices. I booked a $79 room and ended up paying $140… They use a stove as a counter top in the kitchen that could easily cause an accident. Consider other options.

I’m not sure where to begin to explain how bad the experience was. My friends and I searched online for the closest hotel for us to stay after celebrating New Year’s Eve. The hotel is not exactly how it looks like in pictures. It was a struggle trying to find a parking spot or an entrance when you have a vehicle. My boyfriend had to park the truck and go inside to double check where to park. We had to park a block away, which is so inconvenient when it’s — 37 and you have a few bags and no help. The hotel looks like a motel. Our room was absolutely disgusting. The counter tops in the kitchen were not wiped down. The floors were not clean. Our BED had boogers, pubic hairs/hairs, chocolate crumbs, urine stains all over. Clearly that means the sheets were not changed, and if so, it was still filthy. Me and my boyfriend laid our jackets down and slept on TOP of it with our clothes, and shoes on. We wanted to complain but there was no one to be found. It was the worst experience ever. I definitely will not come here again, or recommend anyone coming here.

The staff and management at Nuvo Calgary are a class act and I would not hesitate to stay again. Rooms are clean and well furnished and hotel staff responded to questions and requests promptly. Hotel amenities are sparse but fortunately the hotel is literally adjacent and across the street from groceries, liquor, nightlife, and general shopping. Great budget hotel without sacrificing cleanliness or quality.

Giving them even one star is far too much! My experience with this hotel was absolutely awful. First of all, they falsely advertise the quality of their rooms. The first night I arrived (part of a several night stay), I saw stains on the sheets, blood stains under the pillow sleeves, hairs covering the restroom floor, and an overall disgusting and unsanitary living situation. I didn't even want to stay one more second in this building, let alone several days. I politely asked them to cancel my future reservations (WHICH I CONFIRMED WAS POSSIBLE, BEFORE I EVEN BOOKED, TO CANCEL 24 HOURS BEFORE FUTURE STAYS FOR A FULL REFUND), but these individuals refused to give me my money back. They claimed I got a lower than normal rate price, and as a result, that made the refund policy un-applicable to me. However, truth of the matter is the rate I got was equivalent to their average rate. The problem with this business is that they are devoid of any empathy towards their customers. In their eyes, if they don't get paid, they think they can rightfully walk over other people. I am pursuing legal action and encourage anyone who has had similar experiences to reach out so we can put an end to their atrocious business practice. At the end of the day, it's not about the money, it's about the principle. The principle that no one should be able to take advantage of their customers — to force them to sleep in their car while it is — 15 degrees C outside — in such an ugly fashion.

This is a delightful hotel with well appointed rooms and good general facilities. The lay-out — nice full kitchen — gives a feeling of space and light. However, what really makes this a special place is the care and atention of all the staff, which is simply unparalleled. Nothing is too much trouble.

The only negative about this place was that there is no lift, but the staff helped us with our cases anyway so that didn't even matter. It's more like apartments then a hotel. The room was really nice with a full kitchen and a balcony. The staff we encountered were professional and friendly. Even though we had a full kitchen, breakfast was still included which was very decent. I was only here for one night, but wished I could have stayed longer.

This place is amazing and such a great value. All modern furniture and appliances, great location and nice staff.

The room was modern with updated furniture and appliances such as a microwave, fridge, stove, oven and dishwasher. The breakfast was complimentary with a good variety of food. The staff are accomodating. Definitely service with a smile. Parking was not on premises. About a 2 minute walk away from the hotel with a payment of $10 for a spot. Even though there are only 4 floors, it would be nice to have an elevator.

Enjoyed my stay at Nuvo — parking is very fairly priced and the staff are friendly and nice. The free breakfast was good — and had good hot food, fresh fruit and other good stuff. The kitchenette is well stocked for people on longer stays, but still highly recommended for short stays too. The room A\C worked well, which helped on my summer stay. There is a Starbucks on the corner and a Safeway grocery store literally across the street which is awesome. Great location as 17th St. SW is a ten minute walk for restaurants and shopping but I was also able to walk to Stephen Street as well. I would stay again.

Easily accessible from both front or rear door. Rooms are well equipped and have many amenities. Breakfast is provided. Located across from Safeway.

This Hotel was a complete surprise to us. We did not know the area and it was situated right down town with parking ($10 a night) a block away. Not too hard to find if you know Calgary. Friendly staff, simple breakfast. The hallways were narrow and twisty and there is no elevator. AC was noisy and just about cooled the unit off. There is a board protruding from around the bed that you can crack your shins against, the kitchen in the room was functional, no tub just a shower, window looked out on a back alley that we didn't enjoy, but a positive is that we could see our vehicle from there a block away. Would "NOT" entertain staying there again.

Decently priced place. Rooms appear stylish on photos but are really run down in reality. Dirty and dusty A/C units, rusty towel holders in bathrooms, cupboards doors that are not closing properly, bed that's either old or cheap but it sags in the middle so really uncomfortable to sleep two. I was on Room 405. Oh and what a surprise to taste Sunny D when I sipped on what I thought was orange juice for breakfast… oh Sunny D. Good things: nice location, little kitchen in the room, nice balcony to sit outside and relax, furniture is more modern than other hotels though maybe not as good of quality. It wasn't bad experience but would not stay again.

This was a very good place to stay for a longer trip to Calgary. I basically got a studio apartment with a full kitchen. Superb location, walking distance to the C-Train. Grocery store across the street.

This hotel was good its close to a lot of shops and the room sizes are good and there cheap. But the workers there are very rude. They don't know how to deal with there guest or how to talk to their guest and not once they had a smile on their face. They have no manners at all. The hotel it self is good but the workers there are the worst workers ever and the service of the workers suck.

Best deal downtown. Plus they have great tacos and free haircuts.

A few things make this hotel stand out among the others: The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful; the hotel room was fully furnished (a "mini apartment" indeed, and we fully unitized it) ; the hotel was within walking distance to everything (downtown, MEC, uptown, Saddledome, 2 dozen coffee shops, 3 donut shops, Safeway, the river, et al) ; and the price was very competitive compared to other non-mini-apartment hotel rooms in the area. We'll definitely stay here again when we return to our favorite city in the north.

The room was a mini apartment, everything you would need to feel at home. It was clean and well decorated. I would absolutely stay again and for longer next time.

I thought it was a decent price when I booked it, but then I got to my room and realized what a deal I got! Very friendly and welcoming staff, and the room was really nice. I would book here first when I come back to Calgary.
