Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel

I attended a meeting today at the Calgary Marriott Downtown, and everything was exceptional. From the charcuterie board and delicious treats to the outstanding service, the experience was first class.
Martin, the General Manager, stopped by to introduce himself and personally ensure everyone felt welcome, which was a wonderful touch.
As a Calgary resident, it's easy to overlook the great hotels in our own city, but this experience was a reminder of the excellent hospitality available right here at home. I would definitely recommend this location. Great service all around! 👌

Remarkable that their room keys don’t work. It turns out they don’t do preventative maintenance and the door battery can expire and guests get locked out. Even better, they sent security up to let me in, except security can’t let me in until engineering arrives. Oy vey.
Oh, I forgot: the front desk clerk initially and repeatedly tried to convince me. It was my fault because I had put the key beside my phone 🫣

The hotel is very nice, great location, and staff are great! The gym is very well equipped, with dumbbells up to 70 lbs and lots of cardio equipment. The only issue I had is that the rooms have very little (or no? ) sound insulation. I guess it’s to be expected when you walk into the room and they’ve already provided ear plugs next to the bed. We aren’t light sleepers and we didn’t get much sleep — without ear plugs, we could hear the neighbours’ conversations word for word, hear their toilet flush, sink running, or even the blinds going up and down as if it were in our room.
The door to the bathroom also isn’t super private, so I wouldn’t recommend the basic king bed rooms if you will be sharing a room with someone other than your partner.

We stayed the night at the Calgary Marriott downtown for my wife’s birthday and we had a wonderful time. They even had a birthday plate with truffles on it for my wife and upgraded us to the top floor with a stunning view.
It’s a beautiful hotel inside, all set up for Christmas right now and it has a great valet serve outside. My wife, as a lifetime gold member was disappointed that they have taken away her access to the concierge lounge, but after talking to the front desk, they gave her access for the day, but she was disappointed with the recent change.
Our room was modern and comfortable and had everything that we needed. The only complaint would be the shower, unfortunately. I was actually laughing in the shower because it reminded me of the shower scene from the movie ‘Elf. ’ The water pressure was so weak that you have to stand very close to the wall, which is where the water drains. I am tall, the low shower head was very awkward. My wife laughed when she used it too.
The restaurant downstairs made up for the shower debacle, as the breakfast was amazing. I definitely recommend the salmon gravlax Benedict, as it’s the best I have ever had. All in all, a great hotel.

I had a reservation for the other Residence Inn by the airport but accidentally directed my Uber here instead. The reception staff were so kind and helpful. They called the other hotel and had my reservation cancelled at no charge so I could stay here instead! After an exhausting day of travel, I was so grateful I teared up. The service at the floor 3 restaurant was also superb. I get lonely and homesick when I travel, but this was the best home away from home I could have hoped for. I will stay here whenever I am in Calgary, from now on. Thank you to the Marriott staff for your courtesy, kindness, and grace.

The location is amazing — right in the city center and linked to many downtown buildings with skywalk. A lot great restaurants are close as well. The room is of decent size but the amenity is bare bone — except one little tube of hand location, nothing is provided. I later learnt one needs to ask the front desk, which feels cheap. The most annoying part is Marriott pushes the membership way too hard — no free Wi-Fi for non-members (it's a big no-no to me in today's age), no late check-out for non-members. Staff is friendly enough, but didn't feel like they went above and beyond to help. Overall, it's fine to stay.

Friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Was there for an event and the food was great. Spacious rooms with lots of storage. There was construction on the road so made it a little harder to maneuver around but for the most part got to and from easily. They only have valet parking which was nice but also comes with a price.

Great location, walking distance to so many places. Rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the city.
Every single hotel staffer we interacted with was a pleasure!
Will definitely stay again!

We book this hotel for the location access to Steven avenue and restaurants close to downtown. It's a great location. I can't deny that. However, it's a loud hotel. There is no noise by law on Steven avenue. Windows are paper thin. You can hear every single sound lasting till 12:30 1:00 in the morning. Windows are so bad that it seems like you have a window left open. You can hear everything on the street. The hotel puts ear plugs on the on the bed stand tables not a good sign. Noise was so bad on a Saturday night. We ended up having to move rooms at 12:30 to get to the other side of the hotel. So what wasn't so noisy. Do not get a room that faces west. I do not recommend 2306. As well, fitness room is well stocked, a good fitness room. Cool and hot tub are closed which they only just recently updated but they don't have a pool or hot tub. The club lounge was quite good very spacious. No access to the patio however.
The hotel staff did try their best but mad it is not a peaceful stay. It is very very very very very very very noisy.

We got an upgraded room that was quite spacious. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom counter large to hold all our toiletries. M club was well stocked with food and drink, all though lacking in diet beverage choices. The house made kettle chips with maple butter were fabulous. The Marriott was within easy walking distance to Stepen Street, Calgary Tower, the Bow River and other interesting sites.

From the moment I arrived, Teresa’s warm welcome set the tone for my entire stay. She brings such genuine kindness, energy, and positivity that instantly makes you feel at home. Her smile and caring approach are truly exceptional, and it’s clear she goes above and beyond to make every guest feel valued.
Marriott Calgary is truly lucky to have such a wonderful human on their team. Teresa embodies hospitality at its finest, and her presence alone makes the experience unforgettable.

The hotel was comfortable. Would I stay again — no. There was no breakfast included which was unexpected. Not even free coffee in the lobby (they had a machine but you had to pay for it). For the price of the room for the night, I would have expected even free coffee. Front desk was very polite and we could check in early which was nice. Valet was great (though a bit confusing as there are 2 hotels at this location). All in all it was fine for the 2 nights but I wouldn't stay again due to price, location and lack of free breakfast being included.

I booked the hotel because of a business event I had to attend, and it was quite nice. The room was very clean. They have a restaurant and snack areas within the hotel. If that's too expensive then there are a wide variety of options just in walking distance of the hotel. I didn't have time to check out the fitness Centre or pool, so I cannot offer any insight referring to those amenities.

It is such a bad experience. I would never recommend this hotel to stay. Please prefer motel than this hotel. When I arrived room was not cleaned. They increased my room rate. No water bottle available in room. No coffee. Such a bad hotel.

Not What I Expect from Marriott.
I recently booked a 3-night stay at the Calgary Marriott Downtown and was shocked to learn that breakfast is not included even for Marriott Bonvoy Gold members. We’ve stayed at many Marriott properties where breakfast was standard or at least offered at a reasonable rate. Here, it’s $100 per night for two people, and even after I called to express my concerns, the “courtesy” offer was to reduce it to $80. That’s still outrageous.
I was polite and reasonable on the phone, but the staff insisted this was their policy and that the charges were “standard. ” I’ve since read other reviews with similar complaints, so this seems to be a pattern. The M Lounge is only for Platinum members, and there’s no flexibility or goodwill shown to loyal guests.
This experience has left a bad taste, and I want to warn other travelers: double-check what’s included before you book. There are better options in Calgary that treat guests with more fairness and transparency.

I stayed at the Downtown Marriott in Calgary on a recent business trip and had a great experience. The hotel is very well located—right in the heart of downtown, making it easy to walk to meetings, restaurants, and shops.
The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, with a surprisingly nice view (considering it’s downtown Calgary! ). The bed was great for a good night's sleep, and everything felt well maintained and thoughtfully set up.
Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, from check-in to housekeeping. I really appreciated the convenience of having food and drink options right on site, plus a cozy little lounge area to relax in during downtime. The on-site Starbucks was a perfect bonus for a quick coffee in the morning before heading out.
One standout feature was the spacious and well-equipped fitness centre. It was clean, quiet, and had everything I needed to get a good workout in—something I really value when traveling for work.
All in all, a solid choice for business travelers. I’d absolutely stay here again.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and I really liked the little lounge area and the convenience of having food and drinks on-site. There's also a Starbucks in the lobby, which made mornings easy.
The fitness centre was another plus—spacious, clean, and well-equipped, which is great when you're trying to stay on track while traveling.
Would definitely stay here again for business. Solid choice all around.
