Considers itself as a 5 star, but it is definitely not. The building is superb (the grey stone and wood), the deluxe room (n°108) with a view of the river is very spacious, the site in edge of river Thimphu Chhu is very beautiful facing the mountain. Magnificent corridor of exposed stone to reach the rooms. Good bedding (king size bed) and large closet slide to open side-by-side two suitcases. But the sheet is too short to cover the entire mattress! The room smells a little like stale smoke, and the plugs do not work the first night, except for the TV (one advertisement 54 strings, but many don't display anything). No night table to the right of the bed, a single bedside lamp. Height : no switches to turn off the light in the room, the contact is done by an electronic key, it is necessary to move and use the bathroom in the dark at night except to wake up his spouse to turn on the bedside of his side. We will discover the next morning that the switches are hidden behind one of the pillows along the mattress (even the staff called to the rescue the night before did not know). Products courtesy complete in the bathroom, but no soap near the single sink. The flush does not work if the shower is in use. The bar is of a sadness without a name in the evening, either at 18: 30 or after 20: 00, no ambiance and no bartender or staff. The worst? The restaurant. A hall rotunda facing the river (beautiful view especially in the morning) that does not offer tables for two. Minimum of four people. Privacy restricted. Our table is set by putting a glass here, a fork there on the other tables. At 19: 30 and in the presence of a family, two couples and a group of senior English and noisy, the buffet is almost empty : more chicken, (we are promised to report but there will be few of them), few thin pasta, unsalted, white rice, vegetable stir fry, chicken chinese cashew nuts. The English use several cubes of chocolate cake (the only dessert in the buffet), until exhaustion of the plateau. When we call we can get a cube of 2cmx2cm each. Same thing for other couples near us, the discontent is visible. At breakfast, a new disappointment : orange juice brick (not fresh), fried eggs at the buffet (too cooked = yellow dry), toast dry for a long time, etc… The butter is rancid, the jam (what fruit? ) is in bulk in a bowl near the toast, and I have to ask for tea and coffee since tea and coffee are desperately empty. Obviously the staff is poorly trained, and we hesitate to feed you…

If the building is superb, in a great environment, this hotel is oversold and far too expensive for the meager benefits that it offers in spite of a great potential. Charming staff (but embarrassed), management review. Bad ratio quality / price.
