Holzboxen Planneralm

Nestled atop one of the highest retreats in the Austrian Alps, lies Holzboxen Planneralm with vistas that defy the constraints of typical accommodations.
We arrived just in time for golden hour as the light sunk below the emerald peaks; the panorama unfolded like a masterpiece of subtle hues and majestic slopes. The surrounding silence was a dicotomy of epic proportions from that of Milan where we had just made our departure the day before, punctuated only by the distant tinkle of cowbells and a gentle mountain breeze rustling through the trees.
The apartment itself was well-appointed, with thoughtful touches that echoed its remote location. The lack of air conditioning proved inconsequential given the crisp mountain air, though a fan would have enhanced the circulation. Furthermore, the absence of shower essentials would have been appreciated, given the 20-minute drive to the nearest market. However, the responsiveness of our hosts to our virtual queries was immediate, yet the self-service aspect felt somewhat impersonal.
Minor quibbles aside (with modular-like walls and less-than-pristine do-it-yourself linens) the experience remains imprinted on our minds, thanks largely to unobstructed, breathtaking views from dawn until midnight. Without a doubt, this Alpine haven left an indelible mark on our hearts.

We had an amazing stay at Holzboxen apartment. For the two of us and our two small dogs, it was more than we expected: spacious, very clean, warm at night, and with that incredible view from the full-wall window in the dining area! Everything is well maintained, and we had everything we needed to prepare our own meals, as this early in June the restaurants in the village were closed. Hiking paths start metres from the apartments, and there was plenty of parking room under the apartments. Checking in and out was contactless and painless — we’ve received a message with all the information, found our “box” easily, the key was in the door, and everything was ready for our magical vacation.

Together with my wife and our 2 children we were allowed to spend 2 nights in a wooden box. Our expectations were completely met and in some cases exceeded.
Even if, according to the operator, the wooden boxes are almost 20 years old, you can't tell — especially because they are extremely well cared for and well maintained.
The construction (lots of wood) makes you feel extremely comfortable, the size of the box was just right, and the features leave nothing to be desired. You really have everything you need.
And of course the location is a dream :-)
I still have 2 small suggestions for improvement:
*There is really a lot of information on the website! A few more details would be useful if you knew this in advance (e. G. Which coffee machine (s) are available, how generous the tableware is, etc. ). So we took more with us than was absolutely necessary.
*It would be very helpful in the house if there were a few "signposts". It's not extremely big, but if there were sketches right at the entrance or in the corridors showing where the sauna, which rooms, etc. Are located, that would be a relief.
Last but not least: I can very well imagine spending a cozy weekend here with a few of my friends.
The accommodation is highly recommended for both families and leisure groups.
