The worst arrangement provided by Austrian Airlines on cancelled flights. The room was clean and had A/C.
The Ibis is 20 minutes away in good weather and light traffic, the free wi fi was slow while the (allegedly) secured hotel provided was unattainable therefore I couldn’t get my check in from the hotel.
The Marché, the food court/restaurant associated with the hotel was fly infested and highly priced (€1.99 for one boiled egg, €0.99 for a string of cooked bacon/speck etc. ) not allowing breakfast choice flexibility).
But what was outrageous was the service at the front desk. At my arrival, though there were 2 people at the desk only one was booking, the other doing some non client related clerical work.
In the morning the Transfer to City car service failed to pick me up at 6:30. The paper work provided by Austrian had no phone numbers, e-mail addresses for any of the services involved in the arrangement. Access to the internet not being available I approached the front desk for help. Answer: “Not our problem. This is an Austrian arrangement. ”
I insisted to at least get the phone number for the car service and the young, short, blonde young lady at the front desk refused to provide or to make any effort in looking for one. I pleaded that I had already extended my trip by one day and I couldn’t afford another delay, that no matter how I’ve got to Ibis, I was a client in need of assistance, and that Austrian has vouched for Inis as providing services at least comparable to Austrian’s. When I mentioned the unreliability of the wi fi services she checked, but still claimed that she couldn’t find them on line. Ill will or incompetence? I asked her to allow me to look on line on her desk top computer. In the mean time the night shift receptionist Mr. Orlando Maya working quietly on the other computer was able to contact the Transfer to City shuttle company and reschedule my pick up, proving that it was possible and easily to do so. Mr. Maya as the other people working at the hotel and restaurant were wearing name tags and I asked the young lady who deliberately wanted to make me miss my flight for hers that she declined to provide, therefore this review.
We know Austria as a civilized, touristic and pro business country. Austrian Airlines is my preferred air line to travel between the USA and Europe, an airline that I warmly recommend for the cleanness, politeness and higher standards. I wish Austrian better chooses its partners, discusses with them acceptable standards of service and provides contacts for all providers involved so not to be left at the mercy of some xenophobic, anti-American, frustrated young, blonde, green eyed, glass wearing, short Austrian lady ashamed of her own name, who should work in a back office not with the public.
P. S. I was able to book my next 2 flights and to make it on time.
