Hostel Orient

Wish I could give this place no stars! Booked 4 months in advance to receive a phone call hours before arrival telling me that they have become overbooked, and no longer have a room. I am told I can share a room with 10, once I refuse this, I am magically found a room. After checking in I was taken to my room which is 1.3m x 2.5m roughy with a single mattress placed on the floor, the room had no lights, and we are given a lamp on the floor that uses our only power point. Clearly not suitable for 2 adults, I'm told by other guest to find the manager, who I find hooking up with a girl on the balcony, he begins to tell me that this room is the best I'm going to get. And if I wanted better I should have arrived earlier? After a small argument about how we can not be expected to sleep on a mattress on the floor in a room with no lighting. (Luke) attempts to find us a better room. At this point we are also told we can go somewhere else. Just going to mention the only other available places in Fremantle for the dates we are staying are a lovely $1400 (3 nights) we are taken to the staff combined shared room consisting of 6 bunk beds, dirty shoes, socks and clothes spread all over the place, pointed to a bunk bed with dirty sheets and clothes and told this is what we're getting for $60 a night. At this point I am told if I don't want this room, leave. 10pm nowhere to stay. No apologies. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

Do not stay here. Honestly one of the worst, if not the worst, hostel I've stayed in. Before we made our booking we called to ask if it was 24hour reception and were told yes. On the day of arrival we call to confirm our arrival time and were told there was a $5 late check in fee per person. This had not been previously stated to us and wasn't mentioned on hostelworld or their own website. The girl at check in asked for it in cash, we only had card so she said pay tomorrow, …wasn't mentioned again and we feel that it was this girl just trying to get some extra cash (otherwise surely she could have added it to our room payment). We were also originally overcharged, even when we questioned it. We had booked a 4 bed dorm, ended up in a 6 bed and told that they didn't have 4 bed female dorms. The hostel itself is huge and very shabby and dated. Didn't feel welcoming at all, its a shame because it does have potential. We weren't given a key for our room and the door was left open which made us feel on edge knowing anyone can come in and out of our room. The room smelt awful. The kitchen was filthy. The only clean area was the bathrooms thankfully. There was someone sleeping on the sofa, loud and incosiderate guests talking outside bedrooms at ridiculous times. We spent as little time as possible in the hostel. The only positives are the location, clean bathroom, balcony and the lovely girl at reception last night/this morning who sorted out the overcharge for us.

One of the most average hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Disappointed for freo.
No keys for the individual rooms. No lockers or individual secure storage.
Reception forgot to give us the code to re-enter the main door after hours. So awkwardly had to call ‘after hours’ while he very obviously partying.
Disgusting and disorganised kitchen, very obviously only suited to long term tenants.
Only just worth it for $20
