Left bad taste in our mouths. Should have kept driving. You should too. This is a tale of Two Diners, Two Sad Sisters and a Bad Chef. A local and first timer we were excited to finally have a night out at the famed former Loose Box but were shocked to be greeted by a full sized dead bear, gutted with jaws fixed open in a menancing roar, splayed atop a grand piano in the foyer. This was not the warm welcome we expected. Fire was nice and crackling but sadly a couple of chairs strewn around haphazardly were not by the fire so you couldn't sit with a port or your partner to enjoy it. Now onto the food and service. It wasn't very busy for a Friday night as it was not yet 7pm with lots of tables free all cluttered along the deck along louvred windows (no views and not near the cosy fire) with doors closed, blazing heaters on the walls, Italian opera music blaring in the background, paper napkins and an unbalanced table we were in for a ride. It took some time for our drinks waiter to arrive for our order from a set $20, 2 course menu. Our potato and leek soup entree looked and tasted like pureed baby food. Not a chunky potato or leek in sight. We hungry and greedily devoured it. Main course. Chicken parmy filled half a plate with the other half piles of under cooked chips. Sauce tasted and looked like it came from paste, crumb was tasteless.
