The Carrington Hotel

We dined at the Carrington restaurant for a birthday dinner. Overall, a pleasant experience, but a few issues. The atmosphere is excellent; tastful decor and no loud music to disrupt conversations. However, we were disappointed to find that the menu on the website is vastly different to the one at the restaurant, in content and in prices. Many of the mains are different and almost all of them are $40, not mid-thirties as seen online. The sides are no longer $9 but $15 and the desserts are mostly $25. I have seen many other reviews expressing this same concern, so please, please update your online menu to avoid disappointment and displeasure. Next, the service. While the staff are all wonderful and polite, they were not as attentive to us as we might have wished. The unused wine glasses on the table were not taken away until we had finished our meals and it was hard to signal waitstaff's attention from our table position leaving us with lengthy wait times. The food arrived in reasonable time and was well worth any wait. Between our group we tried the Duck Breast Risotto, Lamb Shanks, Roast Chicken and Lamb Ragu Gnocchi and all were well enjoyed. The Duck breast was reportedly a little dry but with nice risotto and vegetables. The Roast Chicken was delicious however it was described in the menu as being served with pumpkin puree, but the amount on the plates was negligible to be mentioned, more of a garnish. The Lamb Ragu Gnocchi on the other hand was absolute perfection.

Very good motel with the atmosphere you would expect from a high-quality establishment. The restaurant and breakfast area are very well presented, and the food is honest and enjoyable. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very clean.
The only downside during my stay was a rather strong chemical fragrance in the room, likely from deodoriser or ambient perfume, which I found a little unpleasant. Aside from this, it was a very good experience overall.

We booked this place last year for the year 2026 in October for the Shepparton cup for 2 nights and 2 rooms through booking. Com. We got a phone call from a very rude employee saying that the price that was given is “too cheap” for the dates given and that we need to pay double the amount when we told her we will not pay and its not our problem she went on to make up stories that the room is no longer available its been “knocked down”. She was very rude about it and hung up in our face. We contacted booking. Com they couldn’t do anything as she was very rude so she cancelled our booking only moments later we found the same room up for double the amount. How is it this fair? Shame on you to be doing such thing! We are now left with no room for shepparton cup!

We had booked in the restaurant on New Years Eve. At the time of booking I asked if the menu online was the same for the evening. I was told yes. The menu was not only different, but significantly more expensive, some items over $10-$15 more than advertised. On top of this we were charged a surcharge without being told until it was time to pay the bill. We were crammed into the resturant so close that our chairs backed on to the people dining beside us and we werent able to sit at our table properly. The staff, bar one gentleman, was incredibly rude protesting numerous times that they were understaffed and snapped at other patrons. We heard this from two tables away. Upon ordering drinks, both of our orders were wrong. The waitress was unpleasant when we asked for our original order. My cocktail was made incorrectly twice. When explaining this to another staff member the waitress walked up to the table and rudely interjected, talking over top of both myself and the other waiter declaring that it was how they did it here so thats how I was going to get it.
Our food was indeed lovely.
But our experience was not. When attempting to contact the hotel I was informed that it was our choice to stay after all of these issues and there was nothing they could do about it now.
Very poor service and unfortunate attitude towards guests. We would not recommend.

Booked this stunning accomodation.
Looking forward to enjoying the luxury with my son at a future date.

We loved the hotel beautiful rooms.
A great bathroom with bath and shower.
Also a great coffee machine.
Nice cosmetics.
Our first receipt ironing was ever so welcoming and helpful, also the waiter in the restaurant.
However unfortunately.
The car had no cover and were so hot 35 plus in the sun.
In the bathroom was a leak in the shower.
Only 1 small tube to make do for shower gel for two people.
Only 2 coffee capsules for 2 people really bad could not have more than one coffee.
The owner was not the most friendly nor welcoming person very abrupt.
We showed her a video clip of cobwebs at the restaurant and was argumentative when shower her the clip.
A real shame as it did put a downer on our special stay.

Slightly expensive but excellent food and staff right by that beautiful lake. The food was fresh, the sauces were amazing and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating.

What a little gem! Passing through Shepparton for work and have come across this amazing property in the perfect location central to shops and the lake. Great facilities, friendly staff and incredible food in an elegant setting. Will definitely come back!

Fantastic place, really comfy beds, quality linen, good Showers and massive TV. Very quiet. Great location.

Lovely day / night in Shepparton Carrington. We stupidly left mob phone charger in room. Most helpful staff located item and mailed back to our home in Sydney. Thanks Mary and staff for your attention to detail and sent as promised. Outstanding!

Was a fantastic weekend away!
Rooms were clean and well stocked with whats needed.
Customer service was great and they were amazing interacting with my kid during check in so he didnt have a meltdown while checking in.

Firstly Ian in the restaurant was fantastic. He was attentive and lovely to deal with. Restaurant was stunning and our meal was delicious.
Unfortunately when we arrived we got stuck in the lift. It had only been installed 3 days prior.
We were in there for approximately 5 minutes felt like 1 hour.
An apology was offered and I thought maybe a bottle of wine or a chocolate for a gesture would have been nice, but didn’t happen.

Best service very friendly bed and hotel room very comfortable.

A vibrant and exciting location. Carrington has the whole package, nice comfortable accommodation, beautiful, delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere and reception. Look forward to our next stay.

Modern bright room at the motel like end of the complex. New sparkling bathroom. Unfortunately that’s where the good news ends. When we checked in late in the day we noticed no complimentary water (water in fridge is $4.50). Only one spare pillow for a king sized room. A coffee maker but only one coffee pod. Bed was so soft my husband and I got backache. And to top it all off the shower wasn’t working. This was fixed promptly the following day but no compensation was offered. Upon checking out I asked for compensation for the loss of the shower. I was repeatedly told “these things happen” and grudgingly given a few dollars off.

Bed is huge and comfortable. Well designed so you have desks, tables and bench tops so you have everything where you can put your suitcase etc, specially in bathroom where there’s not always space for anything. But, I had all my things spread on the bench top.
Breakfast was included in our accommodation arrangement and it was top of the range breakfast with very sophisticated dining area.
To top it all off, the hotel has Tesla charging station for EV cars, where we didn’t even get charged, but charged my car😆😀😀
Ian and Mary were very accommodating. Excellent food and excellent service.
