Admella Motel

Admella is a name that is very common on this section of the Australian coastline from Robe in South Australia to Warrnambool in Victoria. SS Admella was an Australian passenger steamship that was shipwrecked off the coast of the colony of South Australia in 1859. It broke up after striking a submerged reef near Cape Banks, off the coast near Carpenter Rocks, southwest of Mount Gambier, in the early hours on 6 August 1859.
This motel is in a quiet area – no need to mention the nearby Funeral Home. The staff are very friendly and also helpful concerning the area for cafes etc. The room was medium sized with the normal facilities available. The bed was comfortable and overall the room was extremely clean. Pricing was competitive and suitable for a property of this age and location. Hot water was constant and of a steady stream for showers. We did not avail ourselves of the Wi-Fi as we tend to use hotspotting with our mobiles for laptop usage.
The large nearby service station was very handy for items, including food, when required.
Return? Most definitely would stay here during future trips to Portland and nearby towns.

Haven't been to Portland in over 25 years and this weekend we decided book accommodation and go see the Whales. I booked on Wotif with book now pay on arrival. Get to motel pay for room and then discovered email asking contact main office due payment method issues. I go to the office ask what the issue is as the money came out of my account already. Manager says they tried two times to take the payment out at 8am that morning. I said why would you do that when I selected pay on arrival and check in is 2pm. Didn't really give me an answer and wasn't very talkative. When we arrived there was no welcome greeting or even hope your stay with us goes well greeting at all not even a smile.
The room was good and beds were comfy and nice big TV would of given more stars if wasn't for above issues. We will visit portland again but will change to diff motel next time.

I went for the night when I stopped in to see the whales when I got there and got reception I found out they tried to take out money in the morning (note they had a book now pay later) definitely won't be comming back.

Very clean, nice, comfortable beds. The owner is very nice. The only issue is that shower pressure is terrible.

We met some friends here and stayed overnight. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. The motel is located in a good position, easy walk to restaurants and cafes. The check in staff where good to deal with.

I think I wanted to not like it before getting there.
There was an error by booking. Com meaning we needed to pay more on check in. (I was made aware well before staying)
Got there and the neighbour is a funeral home… (at least the neighbours are quiet)
On arrival you could see it was very very old. From the outside, not the prettiest.
Even inside the rooms they are old. There’s no other way to put it. But they are very well cleaned and clearly well looked after. We stayed one night. It was comfortable and close to everything to grab dinner etc.

The owner was such a lovely man. So caring and friendly. Room immaculately presented. Loved the large rain shower head. So nice and relaxing after a busy day. Kitchen beautifully fitted out with everything needed. Large bed super comfortable with lovely fresh clean linen. Towels also large and of lovely quality. Location to the town fantastic. I walked everywhere. I have stayed here many times in the past but this was my best stay yet. I will be back. Thank you.

This place is underrated! The best Motel we stayed at during our trip along the Great Ocean Road. Very comfortable beds, super clean room & very spacious (we were 3 adults), great location, very friendly staff and with the best prices. One can also park the car outside the bedroom — so convenient! Highly recommend Admella Motel. Will definitely stay there again :)

This is a revised review based on my second experience. Please note that I booked directly and I definitely wouldn't do that again, not that I ever plan to when there are plenty of other options.
I booked a two night stay in November and cancelled it the same day because my plans changed. I tried to send an email directly to the motel via their website, but when a copy didn't appear in my inbox, I took down their email address and contacted them directly. That email was delivered.
On the night of my cancelled stay, they called to ask when to expect me! I had cancelled, in writing, more than two weeks earlier. Having explained this, I was called again about twenty minutes later to tell me to expect a refund within 48 hours. So they had charged my credit card for a booking that had long been cancelled.
About two weeks later, I checked to see if my refund had appeared. It had not, so I called to ask why. I was assured the refund would be processed within 24 hours. Four days later, still NO REFUND, so I called yet again. This time I was told it would be refunded within the hour. Surprise, surprise, still NO REFUND after several hours, so I sent them a letter of demand threatening to contact Consumer Affairs and ASIC and within minutes I finally got my refund.
If you choose to stay here, I would highly recommend that you go through a booking site. That way, if there are any issues, you deal directly with that site and not the motel.

The owners have done a great job in styling and matching colours to dress up the rooms. From the carpets to the brick wall and curtains with the towels and bedspreads all matching the new laminate benchtop serving the kitchen and bathroom area giving the room necessary to put out toiletries. A really nice room with great space for an older, budget motel. It had everything we needed for an overnight stay. Nice and quiet too. Firm bed.
