Good if you want a budget hotel and don't mind sharing bathroom and toilet facilities. Backpackers dream.

Wonderful atmosphere and many long term residents. I guarantee it's not the best but you can live well and you will have fun.

AVOID IT! AVOID IT! AVOID IT! This is the worst hotel I've been in Australia so far. The online booking is not clear about payments. The manager is rude and seemed to not be able to speak English in a proper and undastandable way as whenever he wants he mixed French with English so as to make things confusing. The place itself is dirty, everything old and smelly and the door can hardly be safely locked. External area smelling pee and cigarettes with dozens on the floor which is right besides the bedrooms. The toilets are dirty and unsafe. The bedrooms are worse. Every dirty, guns sticked to the wall and hair on the bedshit, probability from previous guests. Many guys smoking and in drugs on the place. I would never recommend it to anyone!

It's a really good place to stay the staff are awesome and the company you find here make for some awesome times.

Zero star. Don't go there. Never cleaned rooms. Drug addicts are using drugs in the rooms. Have to wait one hour to get the keys. Reception isn't really open in opening hours. Receptionists are rude.

The Oslo hotel feels like the black lodge from twin peaks but with less little people and more smells. Constantly teetering on the edge of chaos and absurdity. The kitchen wasn't so much a place to prepare food and more of a way for the truly desperate to exhibit the meger dinners that they managed to scrape together with blunt knives and sticky chopping boards. "Abandon all hope ye who enter here" wasn't written above the gates, but instead built into its foundations. We were promised a heater, but there is no warmth here. Just neglect.

Awesome even got an extra late check out being new years. The owner was awesome he was very welcoming.

I could put up with the dirt and noise, but this place crosses the line when they allow people to poke under your door with cameras and lights while you are sleeping in the middle of the night, looking for drug addicts (heard from people talking about me in the morning outside my room; was quite the show for everyone there watching me sleep in a very stuffy room). So, because I wore a cap all the time (thinning hair), pale complexion (i live in the UK and have just arrived, duh), slept at an odd hour (UK time, duh again) and kept to myself instead of raucous partying til 5-6am (like the rest of the people here who apparently don't sleep), this was grounds to let these people completely violate the modest privacy I paid for. Absolutely despicable. I've checked out early and you can keep the f'ing deposit. Assholes.

Covered in rashes after staying in this place. The beds are filthy and smell like urine. Should of known to steer clear after the reviews but I tried to save a couple of dollars. Not worth it guys, avoid this place at all costs it is a health hazard.

Absolute dive of a place. First appearance when walking in, disgusting, smelly, cockroaches. Receptionist is one arrogant sod how he was speaking to guests before my experience. Fraudsters still selling beds in mixed dorms and taking the money happily but when you turn up you are told no vacancy sorry ‘blame the website not me’ no attempt to resolve the issue at all, refund or bed you basically told to p off.

Rang up for a room the previous week, was told check in finishes at 10pm. I got their at 9pm, no one in the reception room and no lights on, waited 15 minutes and then left. Unbelievable…

Basic but… excellent location… friendly and helpful staff… great views from rooftop.

Accidentally booked here thinking it was a Hotel. Found it on Trivago. I think the name Oslo Hotel gave me that impression. The photos online seemed fine so I went ahead and booked. Upon arriving I found out it was a hostel. Initially I booked 2 nights but only stayed 1. Felt a little unsafe there. I got the distinct feeling that being in jail would be more sanitary and safer.

Budget accommodation, very basic, good location though.

Nice youth hostel with a friendly staff. Very good location as you have a tram for the centre of the city just a few minutes away.

If you want to experience what living in a prison is like, then this is the place for you! if I could give half a star or even no stars I certainly would. Terrible beds, unsanitary bathrooms, and sketchy people.

The website offered free parking, it's just leave your car in the street. The sheets were yellow with age, hard to tell if they are clean. Every floorboard creaks. Wouldn't stay here, wouldn't recommend.

What price what gain. The hotel is a old building, not too beautiful. And the lighting is very dim. Fortunately, the room is clean. On the website. The hotel say have free parking. But when I check in, the staff say no free parking in hotel. And told me next street have free parking I can parking here. It's not too glad.

Very rude reception! Hung up on me when trying to get a room and was being cocky, wouldn't stay for $30, Dont stay here unless you want scabies.

Smelt like marijuana, floors were dirty, wardrobe broken. However felt safe and was good price.

Normally I would give minus 3 stars for the hostel, the hotel is total horror, the room extremely warm and small. In the evening it is very loud, I'm looking forward to my hotel to finally be able to sleep there.

Place is a joke. Rooms are hot and sweaty (no fan or air conditioning). Also look like something from a 70s horror movie. Avoid at all costs if you want to feel safe and value your sleep.

Very old, very dirty, one of the worst places I've stayed at if not the worst.

It's not a bad hostel considering its price. But the building is noticeably old, kitchen area is very basic.

Stuff was ok but you Have to Pay for your towel 5$ and 5$for deposit! no free Wi-Fi. Electricity in te room has a timer couldn't charge my phone you can lock your values only in The Save of The reseption. Shower and Toilet in the backyard. (it's winter) After toilet I missed the basin to wash my hands. Its old and smells bad. The mattress are doggy two. But it's better then sleep on the street xD.

Very sloppy hostel, Non-renovated many years, Russian the service can not clean up the bathroom well and behaves like by reporting the manager confident about everything. manager of Hungary as heard that I will go to another backpacker began to envy to be rude. Only the French and Polish woman staff were competent and nice. Prices incompatible with the web site, the internet does not work, useless kitchen, reception is not open at night, lack of ventilation in the rooms.

Disgusting, rude staff and no bedding — had to sleep on a mattress. When I finally received bedding, I had to make my own bed AND take them my sheets to reception at the end of my stay. Mortifying! you'll be lucky to get toilet paper.

We have book and paid for the room but we cant check in due to the reception close. We have to sleep on the sofa for a night without a blanket. a very very very bad service.

It's a cheap hostel and don't expect to get too much for your money. Rooms and facilities are pretty dirty and you get charged extra for Wi-Fi and lockers. Pros are it's in one of the best areas in Melbourne, you've got a fantastic view from the rooftop and it's cheap. Cons are the standard of the rooms and the facilities and the fact you can't lock up anything in the dorms (very poor).

Reception staff is great. The price is bare with no towels or internet included.

Came for the cheap price, stayed for the super friendly staff and great people. Loved the view and the atmosphere. Great place.

The staff is super friendly; they made us a good offer and were very helpful in finding our way around, finding a free parking spot etc. Our room was clean and the beds comfortable. Showers and toilets are clean and provide hot water after a couple of minutes. The kitchen is in good shape and spacious. And the people we met were nice and not loud at night. If we ever come back to Melbourne, we will gladly come back here.

Worst Hostel you can imagine! Disgusting bathrooms dirty rooms and the people consume illegal substances in the backyard.

I stayed there for one night with my partner last week. We had a double room which was fine, but old. However, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Hairs all over the place, old vomit in the sink and dirty toilets. Hygiene standards that cannot be accepted in a country as Australia. Hotel owners have a responsibility for the wellbeing of their guests, they can't let people stay in sh*t, it's disrespectful towards travellers. I have stayed in many hostels and cheap guesthouses before, but I don't believe that this is just the way it is. Please clean and make sure that people can at least use the toilets when they pay $70 dollars for a double. Btw: I didn't dare to check out the kitchen! I will not recommend anyone to stay here.

WORST HOSTEL I'VE BEEN TO! It is so so so dirty, while your eating in the kitchen you'll have at least 20 flies on your face! There is no social aspect to the hostel what so ever. But the worst part about it all is the STAFF! They are actually insane/rudest people ive ever encountered! I have done ALOT of travelling and from my experience you would be crazy to stay here!
