Melbourne Marriott Hotel

Best thing about this hotel was the location, which was easy walking distance to everything from the Queen Vic Market to the Botanical Garden to the MCG to the CBD. There wasn't anything really "wrong" with the property. But we were shocked that it is branded as a Marriott rather than a Courtyard or a Fairfield. Had we expected this level of quality, we wouldn't have been nearly as disappointed in this mostly average stay. To frost the cake, the "executive lounge" was a tiny room semi-divided on one wall from the lobby. Comically small and notably uncomfortable.

Our trip to Melbourne started off on a high note thanks to Elaine’s warm welcome, excellent customer service and efficient manner. We arrived early and Elaine at the front desk, greeted us, thanked us for our Marriott loyalty and was able to check us in an early. She answered all of our questions about the property, jotted down reminders about breakfast and the Marriott club and ensured that we were able to grab breakfast before the buffet shut down for the morning.

I absolutely loved it!
My sister surprised me in the hotel room with balloons and decorations—it was incredibly special and truly unforgettable. The Marriott staff played a huge part in making it all happen; they were attentive, thoughtful, and helpful beyond measure.
We stayed the night and attended the magic show “Impossible Occurrences” with Luke Hocking’s at the hotel, which is always exceptional. If you haven’t seen it, you must—go see it!
I have seen the show about six times now, and once again, I had an exceptional experience at the Melbourne Marriott Hotel.
From the moment I arrived, the service was truly five-star—warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect.
The room was beautifully appointed—clean, spacious, and extremely comfortable, with bedding that ensured a wonderful night’s sleep.
The hotel’s location is ideal, right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of shopping, dining, and major attractions.
The facilities were excellent, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was elegant yet relaxed. Every interaction with the team reflected true hospitality and outstanding attention to detail.
I highly recommend the Melbourne Marriott Hotel to anyone seeking comfort, quality service, and a premium city stay. I will absolutely be returning.

The room itself was comfortable, however the heater was not very effective. Since our room had a courtyard and it was winter, the room stayed quite cold, and we felt chilly every night, which slightly affected our comfort.
Staff were generally okay and helpful, though both housekeeping and reception felt a bit slow at times — they did assist us eventually, but response time could be improved.
On the positive side, we were allowed early check-in, and the team kindly offered complimentary breakfast since we arrived earlier than expected, which was a nice and thoughtful gesture.
Overall, an okay experience with some room for improvement, especially in room heating and service efficiency during busy periods.

Been staying here since Dec 15th.
The service crew here is real efficient. They are friendly. The egg orders are always right and fast. I like especially the fresh juice Corner. It allows me to have fresh cucumber and carrot with apple daily. Love the place. Coffee is nice too.

Breakfasts were a bit chaotic with missing items had to be requested (tea pots, spoons etc). Coffee machine temperamental and a constant frustration. Location good for the city but the hotel is a bit tired and not what I expected ftom a Marriott. There's probably better hotels in Melbourne that are in a good location.

We stayed at Melbourne Marriott Hotel as a family and had a very comfortable experience. The hotel was clean, quiet, and well maintained, which made it easy to relax after busy days in the city. Staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay and always happy to help. We enjoyed using the pool, spa, and gym, which were great for both adults and kids. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice to start the day. The location is very convenient, making it easy to get into the city and explore Melbourne. Overall, a pleasant and family-friendly stay.

Decent location, about 10 mins away from Collins St, close to a 7-11 and departments stores. And that’s the only thing going for this hotel. Oh and the laundrette which is 4 mins walk on La Trobe.
Rooms were dated and beds were really uncomfortable as well.
M-Lounge is a total joke — small and cramped, poor selection of food or drink or even coffee. Can’t really be called a “lounge” at all.
Gym is tiny as is the pool.
Overall, one to really avoid.

Booked a room through the AMEX website for 2 nights. When I arrived, it was hard to believe how low the Marriott brand has fallen. First, carpet stinks everywhere and looks like it has not been replaced since 1990s. Huge layers of dust in bathroom exhausts. As a Gold Elite Member, I got an upgrade. I was given the so-called upgrade with a view on the wall. Unbelievable. Is this really a 5* hotel? Minibar is empty, complimentary tap water on arrival and a note saying there is a $6 fee if the bottle is removed from the hotel. My experience with Marriott in Qatar has been much better. For what this hotel offers, the charges are absolutely unjustified. I don’t recommend staying here and will never return. Pictures of the hotel on the AMEX travel website do not reflect the reality.

This was one of the most amazing experiences at a hotel I've ever had. Beautiful rooms. Amazing attentive service. I will definitely stay here when we go back to Melbourne.

More staff needed in Restaurant. I WATCHED staff remove empty milk carton in coffee machine and twice they touched the pipe reinserting it into a new milk carton. No gloves same hands that 3 minutes prior handled dirty plates. No staff fault as they were working hard. MANAGEMENT issue here due lack of health safety. Ran out of cups and people forced to use paper cups. Coffee machine ran out of milk 3 times and coffee beans once. NEVER did anybody clean it. BED in rooms was very comfortable and staff genuinely pleasant.

What a decent trip it was! I was there for the OSIC Music Competition, and i'm alway in need for a nap. The beds were so comfortable and chill. The foods are great, the lady cleaning my room was so kind and so efficient. Overall a great experience! I got 5th in the competition, the sleeping quality helped a lot. Awesome place. Coming back to melbourne soon! Staying here again 100%!

It is an old hotel with renovated bedrooms.
It was nice of the hotel to offer upgrade to a proper suite for Titanium member though none was available for booking on the App.
They also gave me a free bottle of de Bortoli sparkling wine.
The club lounge is small and basic.
I only visited on the first evening as the canapés and alcohol were not worth the calories.
The gym was small and basic. After torrential rain the gym floor was flooded slightly.
Not sure why gym hour ended at 11pm and access after that one had to go to front desk.
It was secluded and off the end of corridor on level one.
The buffet breakfast was basic too and seemed to be short staffed. On two of three days I had to eat on a dirty table. On two of three days the coffee machine was temporarily out of order and needed cleaning of the ground coffee beans.

A well appointed and friendly Hotel. Staff were very welcoming and also accommodated requests if they could and gave alternatives to requests that couldn't be done. The food was great value and breakfast buffet was very well set up. The coffee machine was on the blink but they made us proper Cafe coffee without skipping a beat. The hostess actually spoke to guests and was always ensuring that everything ran smoothly with her very competent and willing team. We will be back.

Splashed out for a girls weekend. 3 triple rooms and we had the very best time from the beginning to the very last minute of our stay. Wow wow wow. The decor was super exciting, our sleep in perfectly crisp fresh sheets. Many swims in the pool and a sauna. Absolutely worth the every $. Close to everything. Melbourne W — thank you!

Extraordinary service, Polite and welcoming staff. Everyone was so professional. I was there for the Magic 🎩 show & What can I say, I have travelled to places far and wide but Nothing comes even remotely close to what we Witnessed… IMPOSSIBLE OCCURRENCES was simply Mind Blowing. Incredibly funny and delivered with Impeccable timing so we All left thoroughly Entertained.
If you ONLY SEE ONE SHOW A YEAR, SEE THIS! You will Not be Disappointed…

Right in heart of the theatre district with The Comedy Theatre only steps away. The Marriott is a great base for your trip to Melbourne. The rooms are generous. The staff are welcoming and I can thoroughly recommend a quiet cocktail in their bar.
