We actually where meant to stay elsewhere but it was very dirty so we rang the intercontinental wowsers from the very helpful staff to the beautiful rooms thank you for make our Melbourne holiday even more better than it was going to be we will be back 10/10

We have been before and loved it. Not so much this time. It’s just too hot! So hot we couldn’t sleep. Adjusting the thermostat didn’t help. Concierge assured us they would fix it. But no! Our room still too hot as was it here while building. Terribly uncomfortable.

Extremely Dated rooms No USB ports for charging Shower was small and lacked pressure Also no water provided only for “ platinum” customers Definitely won’t be coming back again.

Excellent accommodations, lovely atmosphere. Friendly polite service.

5 stars… loved the hotel and service! the waiter at the bar was irritated and rude. But don't let that stop you, this Hotel it's self is exceptional.

Such a beautiful place. Unfortunately due to Covid we weren't able to dine in the restaurant or use the facilities (pool, etc) but still a lovely place to stay. Staff were exceptional.

Central atrium reminds me of a prison, brought back memories of Alcatraz. Friendly staff though!

Absolutely disgusting food. Had stomachache the next day after having chicken parmigiana. Poached egg for breakfast was literally boiled egg. Previously had similar experience in Beijing many years ago with InterCon there — disappointing food (0 star out of 5). I would stay at another hotel next time in Melbourne.

Great heritage listed hotel to stay at wonderful service and staff.

Location, looks and Luxe are alluring & amazing. We wanted a centrally locates hotel and its Colonical looks add it a great value. Staffs were amazingly efficient and helpful. With our normal booking, we have been upgraded to Ambassador level upgrade. Staffs Courtsey were amazing and superb. Thanks you Intercontinental Melbourne! Amit & Family.

1 star will be too much! One of the awful hotels I ever staid … with Super Low standard (or better to say with no standard at all) 5 star hotel with 1 star motel service… Basic things like complementary water — not part of their standard and will be provided only upon request, same goes with tooth brush and the rest of the basic bath stuff, Bedsheets replaced once in a blue moon … Toilet also cleaned once a blue moon One day I was Super tired and decided to catch a nap during the day… the cleaner knock for a few minutes, then came in and keep on calling me till I woke up… I’m staying in hotels 60% of my time … I never, ever had such experience, usually room service guys see u sleeping and quietly leave the room. If the cleaner didn’t clean your room when he came, he won’t come again… No way I’ll chose this hotel again! This is not an intercontinental standard, far from being 5 stars and definitely doesn’t worth the price!

The hotel looks great and was one I had always wanted to visit. Bad experience staying there though. They double charged me upon check out without my consent. Very difficult to deal with in getting a refund for unauthorised charges on my account. The stay itself was unpleasant also. Shame.

We’d stayed at a club room for 4 days. I loved a club room of Inter Continental Sydney so I preferred this hotel. But… different… The location is so convenient. We took Skybus from the airport to Skybus terminal. And we came to this hotel on foot. About 10 minutes.

Intercontinental Hotel Melbourne is located on the western end of Collins Street. A beautifully preserved historic building exudes old world charm. The rooms are comfortable & well appointed with limited views.

Had a great weekend at a lovely facility. Service a bit sketchy though. Hard to compare to some of the great Intercons abroad like Singapore and Bangkok.

Very Comfortable rooms. Great room service. Excellent valet parking. Staff are professional, friendly and very helpful. All in all a top class experience.

Absolutely incredible! Stayed here for our anniversary and ecerything from the building itself to the buffet breakfast and staff was exceptional.

I cannot rate this hotel high enough. Everything was outstanding, but I must say that the friendly, caring and helpful staff are what puts this hotel a notch above the rest. From reception, to concierge to friendly and helpful valet staff, I cannot fault this place. Stewart from valet even recommended good places to go and gave us a map of the free tram line in the city. I was so impressed by Stewart's uniform I insisted on a photo with him. The breakfast was good, the room was stunning, bed comfortable and the in-room coffee and snacks were great. Great job to the team and a big thank you!

Excellent hotel. Courteous staff. Very close to many good vegetarian food joints on King Street. One can use the tram to get to offices or the Southern Cross Station.

Great location, quick check in service. Rooms were large and comfortable. Breakfast was nice. Bed was soft and comfortable. Came for a work conference so I didn't have the time to use the gym or pool but would love to if I came back.

We stay here every year on our wedding anniversary, it’s amazing, the staff are wonderful and the breakfast in the morning is the best buffet we’ve ever had. Highly recommended.

Spent the night of Ed Sheeran, lovely big room with bath. Air con worked well and we were able to set it to a nice cold temp to enjoy the bedding properly. We had access to their club, which meant stacks of canapes and wine, sparkling and spirits. We also visited the next morning for breakfast which was excelent. The hotel itself is very interesting to visit, as they have put a roof over previously external buildings and made a gigantic atrium. Good service and would recommend.

Beautiful historic building and rooms are comfy and quiet if a little small compared to similarly priced rivals. Internet is fast, all amenities you'd expect are there. Slightly annoying that TV is on side of room rather than opposite foot of bed but no big deal if you don't watch a lot of hotel TV.

Actually My luggage was still in airport when I arrived in hotel. Because of airport's mistake. But all staff helped me seriously (Thank you very much James:) ). They tried their best. So, Finally the stuff arrived safely in my room. I'm going to never forget there❤️ I want to go to Intercontinental hotel again.

There are so many places to explore in this hotel it's very magical and romantic. The perfect backdrop for our honeymoon. We ate at a few restaurants in the hotel and enjoyed them. My critique is that the maid did not remove our dirty glasses or give us new ones so I put them outside in the hallway as a hint. Also when you use the shower water leaks out and makes the floor wet so you have to wipe it up and the bath mat is soaked. But the rest went perfect!

Located at the non Paris end of Collins Street, the Intercontinental hotel offers a touch of class in an area dominated by office buildings. The conversion of the heritage space is classy and respectful. The internal atrium can be a touch noisy, but it's never been a problem later in the night.

Excellent stay, rooms were well maintained and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating. Thanks for everything.

Service was great, quality of hotel was great too. Buffet breakfast is worth the small additional charge and is well stocked with a good variety. Room was comfortable, well equipped with all mod cons and luxury items, and beds are comfy too. Only issue was housekeeping which they forgot to make up my bathroom properly. They forgot to add bath towels, some of the personal items, and bottled water to the room. This wasn't a big problem, as when I called instant service they promptly brought me a pair of towels and some water. Will stay here again!

I love this hotel. It's location is great and it feel modern but still maintains some of its historic features. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is good with good variety of options. Would definitely recommend it.

Located in the historic Rialto building, the inside of the hotel is absolutely spectacular, maintaining much of the original building. The rooms are lovely with a great view of the hotel atrium through the window. The staff were very friendly and even offered to carry our luggage to the room.

Very happy with the hotel, charming architecture and was lucky enough to have the Executive Chef make me a cup of coffee in the am when the kitchen hadn’t opened yet. Recommended.

Rooms were excellent service very good merchant restaurant staff not the best.

I visited this place as part of Melbourne Open House — an annual Melbourne event that opens some of the restricted doors to the public. The building itself is steeped in history. It was the first place in Melbourne to ever have working toilets as we know it. The original work can be see added on to the building from the rear entrance of the hotel. It was also the first place to have a working elevator. I also learned, that the side streets can be privately owned and these people are currently making a fortune from allowing the public to access it!

A very nice stay in the old building. The left side of the gate is a lovely coffee shop right side is the chocolate shop from the city center 2 bus station.

The intercontinental hotel is a beautiful building to walk into. I was in a conference room located one floor below the main entrance off Collins Street. The room was comfortable enough and had the amenities required for the presentation.

My wife and children stayed at the intercontinental Rialto this last Friday and Saturday night.
I used my Ambassador free night, (no problem using it or booking a room).
We stayed in a club room.
Having access to the club is always fantastic, the staff (Matthew & Team) were fantastic.

The hotel is located on busy Collins st, location is walking distance from most off the department stores and shops.
The room was well appointed, lots of charging locations for your phone and iPads.
Room was ok, although it does (did) get a little stuffy.
Bathroom, well appointed, both shower heads worked well.
I found it odd that the main showed Head was centred in the middle of the shower, when you open the door with the water on, it tends to go everywhere.
The bed kept rolling forward, was not stable, this was a little annoying.
As a ambassador member we were welcomed at reception & fruit was left in the room.
The strawberries that were part of the fruit basket had already gone off.
I mentioned this, it was quickly rectified and replaced with fresh fruit.
The pool area was great, we had it to ourselves.
Drinks were had in the Market lane bar, service was great.
Highly recommend, we had a fantastic city weekend escape.
Staff were fantastic and friendly.

I had a meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel this week and has never been there before. I was unsure where to go once inside & the staff were very helpful pointing me in the correct direction. Very helpful customer service! Would consider staying here as a guest.

I arrived quite late so had to have room service where the food was a bit disappointing. The hot aspect of breakfast was equally underwhelming the continental option alone is better. The welcome was excellent and the staff were all great. I had a room which faced inwards which is a little dark and depressing even in the day.

Fantastic hotel and great customer service. Located in the heart of Melbourne. Enjoyed my stay here and highly recommended.

Great old building. It's a Frequent location we use for events. Common consensus amongst colleagues is that "it's a great place, but customer service could do with a bit of work"

Excellent mid-city meeting place. The management staff were exceedingly attentive, and where there was a small error in service they were quick to make amends. Highly recommend.

Food was amazing. Great atmosphere. Staff were super friendly but were a bit busy which meant they were slow in attending to everyone.

The lobby had a bathroom. It was worth the trip. I initially wanted to just walk through to the next street but there was no door. The lobby was amazing, but didn't get a chance to check the cafe menu for prices.

Had a couple of work drinks in the bar. Good beer selection. Excellent service. Loved the classic style of the place. Great experience overall.

I'm always very impressed with any hotel under the Intercontinental brand. I've stayed at the intercontinental on Collins several times and love the option to dine downstairs in the Alluvial restaurant instead of the adults only club lounge as I have kids. This extra option is great and they fed my kids as well. The only thing I don't like is that it's hard to use your free night with membership as it comes with so many restrictions. I've had membership for over 5 years and have only managed once to use the free night, so I've given up trying. Everything else is awesome.

Attended whisky live 2017 in the lower ground floor. While it was clear that the layout would have benefited from more space, the hall itself did not have any issues. Could have been better if there was access to the restrooms without having to exit the hall though. This introduced the minor inconvenience of having to have a ticket/stamp inspection before returning to the event.

Love this place. Lovely dramatic setting to impress, automatic opening doors, best comfy refined bar and lounge in town. Beautiful comfy leather lounges or choose a small intimate alcove to relax in. The Tokaj (dessert wine) wins hands down. Great if you're taking clients for a business meeting or for a night cap.

From the immaculately uniformed bellboys to the incredible sense of space, the Intercontinental in Melbourne is a great option for any visitor. The rooms are well appointed, the service is attentive and the breakfast buffet ticks all the boxes. Easy access to The Merchant, Rare and other restaurants is a plus.

Com Booked a room on there and they had the cheapest rates around… I haven't had the pleasure of staying overnight but the hotel looks amazing with all the exposed brickwork. We were going to a restaurant there and the staff were so helpful with directions and offered to walk us to where we had to go. One leaving, even the door man outside was pleasant. I have to say the little dealing we had with the staff, their service was impeccable.

Stayed here for my partners birthday and was going to the comedy theatre. Bit pricey for a small room even though luckily I get corporate rate. Wouldn't pay full price for such a small room and no view or balcony. Crown promenades so far has been the best stay so far

Beautiful rooms and the hotel is stunning… Jazz bar/ cocktail bar with attentive staff and the restaurant down stairs very very good.

Service was excellent. Room for the money was average. Very hot and the set up with the TV on the wall to the side was unusual. It's the little things like no complimentary water and then being charged for 2 small bottles of water as we were so dehydrated from the room was average. I haven't stayed there for many years and thought I would give it a try but felt it was just ok for the price paid.

Ok, expensive for what it is and goodness the working noise from the redevelopment Outside. I planned to stay ten days but leaving early because of the dust and noise. Definitely not among the best IHG have to offer.

Came here on a business trip and was a Intercontinental Club member. Enjoyed the free afternoon tea, evening drinks and buffet breakfast. The location of this hotel was very central, only being a 10 minute walk to Southern Cross station and Crown Casino. The room interior seemed a bit dated, but I am not one to complain. Would I stay here again? Only if the company was paying.

Conference room was great, nice and private for business use.

Excellent location, CBD is walking distance from the hotel. Tram stop is conveniently outside the front of the hotel. Staff were very helpful when I asked for directions or which tram routes to take. Our room was beautiful, had everything we needed and it was spotless. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

Rooms OK — BUT — Food + Beverages sector lets Intercontinental Rialto down badly. Food + drinks either delivered tardy, served cold or simply forgotten! Staff attitude with resect to this bordering on 3 star! — They just haven't performed all Easter weekend! Stay somewhere else! Sorry.

This is a great hotel to stay at because of the modern interior. However, I don't like opening my window to see the rest of the public area of the hotel. You don't get a view of outside. Also, the hotel is more in the business district than the 'paris end' of Melbourne. Interestingly, the sound from the TV feeds into the bathroom. The buffet breakfast is worth a try.

On our honeymoon traveling around Australia. The Intercontinental was fabulous and located in perfect walking distance to so many things. The hotel booked us on a trip to wine country in yarra valley and we were picked up and dropped off at the hotel. The room was great and service was awesome. The club lounge was the best we have seen with the breakfast, snacks, and happy hour. Great experience.

Anyone should be slightly stressed when travelling with a two year old. All the front of house staff that we dealt with were fantastic and took all our stress away. As you would expect, the room was great, service was fantastic, and environment was perfect for a home away from home in Melbourne. I'd book here again.
