Quality Inn Colonial

Quality by name only. Stayed in December visiting family. Second time staying and wouldn't stay again. On checking in noticed the bins full outside the rooms. On entering our room noticed apart from the questionable cleaning that the smoke alarm was open with no battery. On attending front desk the gentleman there said yes maybe broken with a smile. Now I'm sure there may be some language differences and in the Quality Inn — Kolkattabad in far away lands I'm sure that smoke alarms are not considered but here in Australia I point out that its a legal requirement. Much rushing around ensued while a battery was attempted to be found. Eventually after family members were rushing about opening cupboards and drawers like an episode of Fawlty Towers they said we will bring to your room. 15 mins later knock on the door I was presented with a battery — they didnt even ask to put it in — 3 of them. At the door watched me install it. It was bizarre — like they had no. Concept of hospitality. So later that night when we got back from a function the same 3 or 4 men were sitting outside the motel rooms talking and laughing while smoking until well past midnight. Wouldn't stay here again for all the incense sticks in Hydrabad.

Essentially did not have a working toilet for our night here. I would have expected a decent refund for that but all I got was $30 off the $257 tab. The excuse given was that they couldn't refund any more because we booked through a third party site. Reader, we booked from the 1800 number provided on the Colonial site. At no point was it explained it was a third party booking system. Rooms old and tired. Look like they haven't been upgraded since the 80s.

Very comfortable rooms, modern TVs can watch netflix, but shower in the room 6 was poor, also ants were inside.

To be honest, it's a pretty dismal experiance coming here.
Probably the worst of the Choice Hotels I have been too.
1. There was a dead fly on the bedside table which remained until check out.
2. Housekeeping is inconsistent, Day 1 and 2 No biscuit refil.
Day 2, bed not made, no milk left in fridge.
3. TV has no outside signal and is a pain to cast too.
Probably not going to stay here again unless I absolutely have too.

The property was very untidy with overflowing bins, weeds in the gardens, unemptied ashtrays, rubbish and debris blowing around every where. At one point we were sitting outside and one of the managers just kicked bin lid out of the way rather than pick it up and place it back on the bin to stop the rubbish blowing everywhere. The pool was out of order and very dirty, there was an old milk crate sitting out the front of one of the rooms. The property needs a lot of maintenance, the window sills in the room have never been cleaned, there was dirty marks on a lot of the walls. The room itself was ok and there was plenty of coffee, tea and some biscuits provided. The lady in the front office was lovely but the office smelt so bad it was hard to breathe. I would not stay at this motel again.

Clean, adequate rooms. Breakfast /dining room was good.
My only comment is the grounds could be brightened up a bit. Perhaps more plants etc. The swimming pool needed a bit more regular maintenance. Was a bit green when we arrived.

The room was a decent 3 star quality. Had bikkies in the room with tea and coffee facilities. Mattresses were hard.
Pool area was disappointing. Spa and sauna were out of order and the pool was not particularly clean.

Still missing the small cleaning issues.
Staff cannot understand basic requests such as rubbish bins outside rooms stink (was 34c outside) so l requested a staff member empty it due to smell and insects, it was not emptied during my 3 night stay, l had to spray it with Glen20 to arrest the smell!
Air-conditioning filters filthy (l cleaned my own upon arrival) due to the musty smell in the room.
Exhaust fan clogged with dust (have pic) same as hair dryer (also have pic).
I appreciate this is an older establishment and can see improvements being undertaken aesthetically but it's clear cleaning staff are not thorough enough.
Dirty mirrors are another issue!

Quality inn colonial well quality should definitely be removed this place needs some serious updating and more updated facilities the so called BBQ you are supposed to cook on is so so so old and not very appealing to use we did not use it for that reason its upsetting the bussiness makes so much money but clearly just pocket the money for there own luxuries and dont care about the people that come to stay takes 3+ hours to dry one load of washing cant really wash dishes or its expected to wash them in the part where you wash your hand the pictures on the wall are so ugly and unattractive TV's are so small paint scratched off multiple diffirent sections off wood lamp was broken 2 lamps actually almost got electrocuted due to this and the owners did not care rules are so so weird is the only way to describe it office closed most of the day every day staff when walk past give you a dirty look like they are judging you would not recommend this place also the beds are very uncomfortable also had to request for fresh towels after 2 days no quality service at all.

The room was not properly clean, empty milk cartons behind fridge, skirting board carpet not cleaned, shower milky residue on tiles, glass, cobwebs etc etc.
Someone is not doing their job properly. I suggest you stop using males and get a female to clean. The males are not cutting it.
TV couldn't work, manager tried, got some success but the moment he left TV wouldn't work. Annoying! Cars parking in wrong places no one monitored them.

Good tidy room but getting quite dated we’ve noticed a few things that need a bit of upkeep and maintenance including chipped items needs new painting.
The shower needs a new showerhead replacing.
But in all it was good value for money.

We were very happy with the size of our room. Everything was clean and well — maintained.
Room was also very quiet.
This will now be our " Bendigo go — to motel".

Very interesting design of bathroom and vanity area. It's ok for a short stay. Not a walking distance to City Centre.

Needs some minor cleaning exhaust in bathroom and aircon. Had a resturant on site which was good. Checking staff friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is now Gallo's Coffee shop. Wide range of breakfast dishes very well cooked and served. Coffee is also very good which is unusual for Bendigo. Open until mid day.

The rooms were clean but very basic and. Badly in need of updating. Bathroom had mould all over shower. No wash basin in bathroom. Reception was unmanned when we arrived and there were no instructions on how to access our room which was already paid for. Sounds from room next door carried through into our room, including various plumbing sounds. Overpriced.

Heli provided excellent customer service and the room was clean and comfortable great place to stay Robyn and Judy.
