I stay here pretty regularly, not the most glamorous motel but clean, well priced and friendly staff.

Very basic but okay for business restaurants in area, staff very accommodating
Room very dated
Seem to promote restaurant in hotel further up south terrace
My impression they are the owners and this place due for renovations
Strategic placed but car parking limited.

Friendly check in. Rooms really clean. Pool for the kids. Car parking.

Room was good. Car park was a bit touch and go. Lucky to get a park one night as it was full. Disappointed as some services like shuttle bus not running and cafe not open all the time due to it being school holidays. They should list these changes so at least you know what to expect.

Absolutely the nicest, cleanest, friendliest and obliging staff. Everything was just so clean and available. I'll definitely be staying there again soon.

Average sort of place but cheap and convenient. Would have thought being offered a nonsmoking floor without request would have been an option. Didn't think smoking in a public area such as a motel would have been condoned.

Hugely Disappointing. Car park partially closed, had to park in an unsecured area by the model next door. Customer lift not working, had to walk through the kitchen to use the service lift. Room was dirty with paper thin doors to the adjoining room. Could hear next door's conversation. The place is tired and in dire need of a thorough renovation from top to bottom.

We stayed on Saturday night. Just one night was long enough. The staff were very friendly. But it was like a ghost town. Very old and needs Gordon Ramsay in there lol. The lift was out of order had to walk through the kitchen to use the other lift. Smelt old. Breakfast was ok wasn't hot breakfast just cold. Bathroom had no exhaust fan. Heater didn't work properly. Wouldn't recommened if your looking for any longer than 1 night.

From the style of the lobby this place seems great and the staff are friendly. The view from our 1st floor balcony is nice, for the price our room was a let down. Minimal furniture yet the room still seems small, tiny TV and black scuff marks on the walls. The only thing our room has that we enjoy is the bath and the too double beds. The elevator is turned off everyday from 11pm to later in the morning due to "maintenance requirements". No wonder why when riding it, it is old, very noisy and jumps when approaching your floor opening it's doors mid-motion. My 4yo was to scared to rid it after the first time.

Good place to stay. Not noisy. Reception staff lovely. We were only there one night to sleep but would recommend it.

Bathroom was dirty, bath had soap ring and mould under the shower screen. The room was right next to the lift which is outdated old and unsafe. Very loud clunking in every stop. The balcony is nice and the pool area, bummer it's not heated. Other than that the hotel is nice and tidy just the rooms are not the best.

The building is old but staff is extremely helpful to go the extra mile to help, superior service!

Very poor internet. Or I should say no Internet. Poor service and some of the staff have a stick up there, I wouldn't be surprised if they play with the internet connection themselves and blame it on the Company Overseas!

Hasn't changed in 9 or so years. Friendly staff, confortable rooms. Does need an upgrade.

I stayed there on Saturday night with my fiancée, found the desk clerk Chad to be very polite. The foyer was very modern & looked inviting. The elevator was very old & needed updating the doors opened before the life got to the floor. The room was very spacious the bed was comfy no exhaust fan in the bathroom so it got very steamy & built up with condensation. The HD channels didn't work on the television. The balcony door only open a small way & was advised that if it shut u couldn't get back in. Not enough milk or coffee put in the room. Wasn't advised on booking that u had to pay for parking. Went down for breakfast thinking it would be a hot one & it wasn't, was not advised that we could go up to the sage for a hot breakfast which is what we were looking for. Over all experience was ok but will be seeking different accommodation next time.

Very convenient Hotel to visit the city, prices in line, cleanliness and reception to improve.

Our Concierge was friendly and welcoming. The elevator feels like it’s going to drop you half a floor early… when the doors open it’s still moving up or down which is a bit surprising. The taps in the bathroom wiggle around, and the menu folder had no menu in it. The Wi-Fi didn’t connect. The bed was comfortable though and is was quiet. Thus. 3 stars.

The Chifley on South Terrace is an older building however everything was clean comfortable and functional. Good airconditioning in each room. Reasonably close to the tram line for ease of access to Glenelg and the Entertainment Center. Only downside was the elevator which is old loud and mildly terrifying.

Friends and accomodating staff. Rooms very outdated not inviting at all. Beds comfy, breakfast not much selection for a buffet (no eggs or bacon at all) Foyer is done up lovely but a shame none of the rest of the place looks like it.

Where to start, the elevator doesn’t comply with basic WHS laws, I called it the elevator of doom. Decided the stairs were safer even with bags. Due to the loud noise and banging of the elevator you can’t use it at night or early morning, not that you would feel safe in it. The cleaners didn’t even bother cleaning any of the glass wear (cups and wine glasses) for the whole 3 days, just put them back on the shelf with red wine still in the bottom. Bathroom shower wasn’t cleaned for the entire 3 days, so I’m guessing neither was the bathroom it’s self. A king bed… is not two uneven double beds put together with a fitted sheet over it. With the uneven beds, one person was always rolling towards the centre and getting stuck in the night time. The room supplied kettle tripped out the circuits so we lost power. Paint work is shabby in the bathrooms (there is literally a pool of paint on the tiles where is has run down the wall (room 413) ). The only good thing about the hotel was it was only $5 per day to self park your car. Disappointing all round.

Have stayed here before, a number. Of years ago and thought it was good value in a good location, hence the return stay. Sadly this time, it was a terrible experience. As the elevator is noisy, they turn it off overnight, so enjoy that late night stumble up the stairs after a few drinks, or that early morning rush down the stairs to get that early morning flight — this is when you will notice the signs about it being unavailable "for operational reasons". The reality is the elevator is noisy, and jerky as a result of poor maintainance, and most likely being in desperate need of a major overhaul / replacement, but instead of doing this, lets inconvience are customers. I asked the staff when the elevator was going to get fixed, and they were unaware of any plans. But it was just not the elevator, leaking taps in the bathroom sink, a toilet that is single flush and runs considerably longer then needed and a broken light shade. Basic maintainance does not happen in the Chifley on South Terrace.

The worst hotel I ever stayed in Australia (I travel a lot). Even outdated hotels in Canberra are way better. Amenities are old, poor soundproofing. Be prepared to be waked up at night by somebody opening/closing doors, or noise from the outside. Free Wi-Fi is very slow to the point you will realise it is unusable. Morning breakfast option is affordable ($11 pp or $5 kids), but you find no egg/meat option. Coming to breakfast late (8AM) and find most plates empty (no food). Amongst other surprises — we checked — dried urine spots on the toilet seats was the biggest one.

Vintage-feel hotel with swimming pool and parking spaces at the back. Helpful staff. Simple breakfast is served.

Not bad, but there's probably better choices. Clean and neat, but showing its age. Beds were comfy. Lift was noisy — request a room away from the lift. Staff friendly and helpful.

Showing signs of aging. No compendium in room and no info given at check in re hotel facilities the lift is not to be used after 11pm or before 5 30am, not sure what that is about… again no info other than not to use it. Graffiti in lift and on the balcony on floor two do not give a four star feel… in fact makes you feel you are in the wrong place completely… on the plus side the shower pressure was fantastic and it is walking distance to some lovely restaurants. Most of the staff we encounted were friendly and the lobby is really lovely, the rooms were a good size and the bed comfortable.

Rooms with high ceiling overlooking the parkland to the south, retro decor, easy location. Room service options pretty crappy, but plenty of takeaway options just around the corner to the east.

Great staff and value! The hotel is situated in a perfect place near a large playground and grass fields. There is a large pool, a restaurant next door, and Fasta Pasta (a favourite of mine) 2 doors down. It's now my preferred stay in Adelaide!

We booked this Hotel as it was advertised as a four star hotel. We were quite disappointed that it didnt match up to other four star hotels we have stayed at. Good points… good location and close to the tram to the city. Breakfast options were good and staff in the dining room were friendly. Bad points… shower was over the bath with a glass sliding screen which was quite old and stained. Bathroom had stained tiles and mould spots, especially along the ceiling trim. The toilet was in front of the vanity and the hairdryer had a short cord so this made it difficult to use with the toilet in the way. Carpet was quite badly stained and lampshades were covered in dust. I moved one of the chest of drawers out from the wall to gain access to a power point and discovered cords from the alarm clock and lamps were twisted around each other and tangled. Also these were covered in dust as was the telephone plug and cord. Elevator was dodgy and we could hear it from our room. Split system heater was dusty and took a long time to heat the room at night. Lights in the main area of the room were from the lampshades only which wasn't quite bright enough. We had booked and paid for three nights accommodation through short breaks sa and had a car breakdown so we missed one night of our stay. I called to let them know we wouldn't be there til the following day and was only offered to check in early which we did since the room was already paid for!

Very poor place rooms dirty. Don't like giving bond money back for rooms very chiffty people deal with.

Location is convenient to my office on the south terrace. Comfortable room.

Overlooking the parklands the Chifley is very convenient to the CBD. Rooms were of good size, neat and tidy. Helpful staff, enjoyed my stay. Will certainly keep in mind for future visits to Adelaide.

Great value for money. Clean rooms and facilities, and the whole hotel was freshly renovated. Friendly staff and a nice look to everything. Our room felt big and clean. My only complaints are the noise. We had a room with a shared door between the rooms which are obviously for families or friends to join two rooms together. The doors were locked, but they are paper thin and we heard every noise next door. The rooms had large windows all across the north wall which is lovely but it also lets in lots of city noise. And the sheets were stiff and very noisy when you have four people (two kids and two adults) sleeping in the same room. Over all I would definitely recommend the place, but just keep in mind the noise issue if it's important that you have an undisturbed sleep.

For NYE was reasonably priced and good location near to tram stop. Looking a bit tired decor wise and rooms weren't overly soundproof so could hear neighbours. Good car parking though. Would stay again.

The room was clean and tidy and the guy at reception was really helpful.

They don't have Wi-Fi… seriously… the front desk tells you to go to their sister hotel up the street that does in the lobby for free. Otherwise, it's a hotel near the CbD of Adelaide. Nothing really stands out, nothing went horribly wrong, it's… a hotel. Rooms are tidy but in need to refurbishment pretty badly (worn out and showing signs of impending failure), bed was comfy, lights and fridge worked when you wanted them too. Again, nothing unique, nothing special, but still no Wi-Fi. Just highly overpriced considering the crappy hotel next door even has Wi-Fi…

I attended a business event. Parking was validated and easily accessible behind the hotel. Facilities used in the hotel were modern and appropriate.

The reception staff whose name was Rodney or Robbie (hopefully I spelled his name right) was unprofessional and impatient. Customer confused by the different phone number of Sage hotel and Chifley on South Terrace which was a normal issue. Impatience would not help at all except your unprofessional.

Currently a guest 26-30 Dec 2015 The only thing good about hotel is the location. Décor is old and run down, curtains falling down… bathrooms are dirty, dirty mirrors with stained toilet bowl, stained tiles etc. Rooms look like something out of the 1980's. Rooms are dirty, need cleaning… lift needs service, nowhere to eat etc Would NEVER stay here again… as recommended by Flight Centre… a bit of a joke… should have asked for refund or cancelled booking once a saw my room.

Tired and very old. Showers have zero water pressure. Good staff though and decent beds.

I found the staff (especially Ben) to be very friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation staying there again. Thank you Chifley staff!

It was a nice older style property and staff were good.

Stayed here for a night and found it quite reasonable. Bed and pillows were very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. Would have prefered the mini-bar to be empty so we could put our own snacks in there. Maybe they need a system where you order the mini-bar when you make your booking if you want access to it. Will return again when next we visit Adelaide.

I find it absolutely amazing at the conceited rudeness of Ben at the front desk. The room was OK, we will never return to this establishment again. If I had the choice of sleeping in a park or staying there i'd take the park bench! Thanks Ben for making our stay an awful experience.

Room was noisy backed onto street dont get any of the rooms ending in 09 as you will hear the elevator all night No Wi-Fi in this day and age youd think every hotel would offer this for free Room was comfortable but the noise took away from that effect Breakfast was nicely laid out and worth the money Centrally located in the city will look elsewhere next time.
