Terrible. A guy on a power trip at the bar door, vilified me as a woman… I cannot believe I have been treated like this on my holiday! Stay away… hotel is nice but keep away from the fat aussie pig heads at the bar.

Walked in completely soba, the place was dead when I walked in. Had 3 drinks there, by the time I finished my third drink they kicked me out out because of my tattoos. They were happy to let me in when it was dead, as soon as it picked up I was kicked out for no reason (other than my non offensive tattoos). I will never be returning and I will make sure everyone I know knows about the discrimination I had to deal with.

We had an excellent time there. The staff is very friendly and the location is central in the main street of Airlie beach. The rooms are in nice cottages which are build in a rain forest like environment — awesome.

If I could give no stars I would. I drove all day to get here so I was excited for a good sleep in what seemed to be a nice hostel. The scenery is nice and that's about it. The staff is rude and the hostel is pretty dirty. I felt extremely unsafe staying here and I will never come back. There are signs posted all over the resort saying that there is absolutely no alcohol permitted anywhere on the resort — which was proven to be false when I went to the front desk to ask about this policy because there had been grown men belting and screaming at the top of their lunges from 7:30pm until 6:30am. 6:30AM! On a Sunday. Literally screaming so loud I have never witnessed anything like it. I understand having a good time but it would have been nice to have gotten some sleep since I paid for it anyways. The staff was unbothered by my concern and offered nothing. There are signs that say partying is for the bar and sleeping is for the hostel. If the staff themselves don't follow the rules then why would the guests. The staff says that comfort and safety is their main priority for guests but I did not receive either of those things staying here.

Awesome laid back hostel! The room is spacious with a private bathroom. The kitchen is clean with great amenities but is a little small. The staff is super helpful and sweet! No Wi-Fi in the room, and no lockers in the room. I was in room 24, and was close to the bar. There were world cup games going on, and people screaming until 3am, we could hear everything in the room.

Great hostel. Good for meeting people. BBQ facilities and outdoor areas are great. Pub at the front is convenient. Free carpark and entry from back is a big plus. Dorm rooms are spacious but get dirty pretty quickly if you have filled 8 beds. Would be good if the bathroom was sealed from the bedroom so you don't hear eople in the shower/toilet. Staff are extremely helpful, kind and genuine.

Good buzz in this place all week long. Drinks are very reasonably priced. It's very much a backpacker place, so it's full of weird and wonderful characters, but isn't exactly up market. Most staff were really good, but some could have been a little friendlier. That said it wasn't enough to put us off, we still drank there most nights.

What a disgusting place. Smells of vomit. Over priced and warm beer. Poor service with aggressive security. So sad to see the way patrons are treated. After going there for 13 years I have never seen the place so neglected or mis managed. Not a happy place to relax or enjoy a night out. So many better places to enjoy in this wonderful town.

We book a sailing tour and had such a wonderful time! Our 3 day adventure was filled with laughter and beautiful sights. The staff at magnums were so helpful and very friendly! They gave us wonderful tips and assisted us with all our needs.

Such an awesome Hostel! Definitely stay here if you're coming to airlie beach. Grocery store and liquor store steps from the Hostel. The beach and lagoon are both 2-4 minutes walk away. Restaurant on site is amazing! Mama's Boys has the best breakfast. Little piece of nature and quiet in the middle of the city.

This place is go to for a drink! Great atmosphere. People watching out front. Live music. Did I mention great priced special drinks?

I think this is one of the best options for backpackers. In the center with all the amenities you can need (and in very good conditions). The best here is the staff!

On Airlie Beach City Street, McDonald's fast food restaurant, supermarket Woolworths Airlie Beach Central is conveniently located next to it, a 1 minute walk, and a 3-5 minute walk to the beach or Lagoon pool. I live in the double room 103 room 5 days 4 nights, before the brook Airlie Creek, the park has the size of trees, different birds, double room has a refrigerator, cutlery cabinets, air-conditioning normal, adjacent to cooking and excitatory kitchen, as well as internet computer co-constructed cabins, very convenient, but also to many countries young guests to show up the cooking skills. And Wi-Fi network outdoor gazebo, like Marina Park, there are barbecue platforms and equipment, as well as the park's outdoor rooftop bar, there are singers and sports channels television broadcast, are a good place to meet. But it may be the sake of the wooden house and the aforementioned stream plants, the room although there is air-conditioning still feel moisture, there is a tall ceiling hanging fan on the fan leaves and cabinets on the thick dust accumulation.

Love this hostel! The location is great and the staff are lovely, especially Cat. The cabins are nice and clean and there’s a fridge in the room which is an added bonus. Woolies is at the back which is beyond helpful and the bar is pretty cheap!

A good location, the setting is nice in a small jungle.
We slept in 8 dorms, the beds are OK, no lockers closed to tidy up his stuff. A shower and WC per room, not very convenient when everyone wants to go there at the same time. There are only two small kitchens for all, and not very well equipped with the coup it is the war to catch utensils. It's not very clean.
The bar next door is nice, with the billiard tables.

Always a must visit when here. Was here 8 years ago and still the same great place. Central, good beer and always live music during the week.

Loved this place! Beautiful setting and lots of wildlife to see. Kitchen seemed clean although we didn't use it. Very reasonably priced for private room which had it's own fridge, kettle, crockery, dish towel and air con. Only fault I could mention was the toilets always seemed to have a puddle on the floor and our toilet when flushed, would splash water out of the bowl onto the seat… not very hygienic.

Paid last minute for a cheap private room. Service was great. Shower was clean. Although close to the pub noise wasn't an issue in my room. Good value.

The one who stands on the ball, he belongs here. But is not as crass as in Mallorca.

Nice place. Lots of entertainment at the front and surprisingly quiet and peaceful back where the rooms are. Downside was the 'cabin' shared rooms. The ensuite is in the cabin with just half a door separating it from the bunk beds so everyone in the room gets to hear and smell any toilet use.

Very well located hotel. For dormitories of 8, bathroom WC in the room, + fridge. Respectful backpackers. A BBQ area is available and well laid out (area Wi-Fi at the same time).

The BEST Backpacker I stayed ever. I have been Traveling all around the world and stayed seceral months in Australia. Specially Traveling through the East Coast I have been meeting people and visiting new places all days. If you ask my definitely I would say that this is my favourite. Magnums Backpacker in Arlie Beach Clean, secure, AC, cheap, pretty good atmosphere, good people. In a perfect location if you want to enjoy witsundays, the lagoon, relax there or going walking to party. I enjoyed the good room views with huge windows, you feel you are in nature, the kitchen was allways clean with all you need. I had an issue and in reception they treat me really well, they listened to me and tried to fix it. They are really good, comprehensive and human staff (its hard to find someone like them). One of my favourite Hostels, seems more like an Resort! Cheap prices for nice and tidy rooms. Big area with many rooms, 2 kitchen, one laundry and one luggage storage. Good to stay if you travel with another person or in a group. Even camping places with hot showers available Wi-Fi is maybe not the best, but that is my only bad point about this accomodation.

Well located, large, standard cleaning. Small double room but with TV, air, refrigerator, pretty good.

Everything was great, twin room good value, mostly clean, lovely staff. Only downside was paying for luggage storage and if you did want a shower after checking out. Fair enough if you weren't staying there originally but they don't provide you with much when you are a guest i. E free breakfast or dinner, even at a really cheap rate, like a lot of hostels we have stayed in recently.

The room was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The bathrooms were correct, kitchen without oven but quite complete and large.
Also, from the reception you get the excursions you want.

One of the best hostels I've been to in Arlie Beach. Very helpful and lovely staff! No surprises or other nonsense. Close to everything and a great vibe. Can recommend magnums Backpackers to everyone!

Very good place, close to everything, simple and clean rooms. The best the good vibe of the people at all times.

The rooms in the bungalows are well equipped, there is a WLAN area with free internet for all hostel guests receive. The Woolworth is right next to the hostel, you don't even run 2 minutes from the kitchen SUS there. The kitchen is okay, but could be a bit better equipped (eg More pots, bowls, etc. ) and TW to be more tidy (which, however, is attributable to the back Packers who do not clean up their things).

Magnums is a nice hostel. The rooms and also the kitchen are really clean. The dorm rooms are big with a nice bathroom. The staff was friendly and it was fun being there. The hostel has a great atmosphere with a pub and when I was there they had some live music, it was really good.

The rooms are cleaned, but if you want a quiet hotel, choose another one. A lot of parties.

Stayed here one night, was one of the nicer hostels that I've stayed at. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. Airlie is a small town so everything is within walking distance. The grocery store and liquor store along with many restaurants are right beside the hostel. My only suggestion would be if you're coming to Airlie for a sailing trip or other excursion, consider booking through Magnums as you will get 1 or 2 nights of free accommodation at the hostel! Also they have cheap and secure luggage storage when you are away for an adventure! $5 per person for a whole weekend!

I stayed at both magnums and nomads while in Airlie and can say without hesitation that magnums is the superior hostel. The location, the staff and the rooms were all great. The rooms are set back away from the bar surrounded by trees which was super relaxing — this differed from nomads where our room wasn't pretty much next to the bar and we could barely sleep. The facilities at magnums were great and the staff were really helpful. As a solo female traveller I would highly recommend magnums.

Nicely built hostel. Right in the centre.

The staff are not welcoming nor the girls at the welcome and in the morning or I had to leave before 10am I stayed until 12h and I made me pay 5 dollars more and there is no hot water
PS: listen to the aother opinions they are happy for nothing it's Australian.

Stayed in a private room and there was a strange smell. The dorm rooms look really good though and one of the better backpackers in town.

It's in a fantastic location, set amongst the trees and wildlife but right on the doorstep to the town and beach. Staff are super friendly and helpful Kitchen facilities are a little worn down like most hostels but usable Free Wi-Fi but only in the HotSpot outdoor seating location in the middle of the complex.

Very disappointing venue. My wife and I stopped in for a drink, unfortunately our drink prices kept going up. We had 3 drinks each one more expensive. When IQuestioned the manager I was told to leave. Be Careful.

Good hostel, really good location in Airlie beach. I especially liked the houses in which the rooms where, really cool idea. The room itself was a bit small (twin room) and the bathroom was not the cleanest, but overall it's a good place to stay a night or two.

Didn't stay here but had the food. It was fairly good for the price paid and there was live music Hong on as well. I'm sure every bar in Airlie Beach is great as most of the seating is outside so you can enjoy the sun and beer.

I came that Van so I can't really judge the rooms but for me the reception was at the top. Little location for the van but very well placed near the bar and field component. We have our own showers for vans. There is always the same quiet music and a good atmosphere. The backpack is a small village in the forest, it's very pretty. There is even the Woolworth building next door.

Poor organization, it really feels like they want to export you from every single dollar. Once on the boat it was great though.

I've been coming to Airlie beach for years and magnums had always had a great atmosphere and staff. Last night I had been drinking the same drink all night and as I was ordering they had increased the price drastically within an hour of my last drink and when I said I refused to pay the extra fee kindly saying they weren't that much before, the staff rudely told me to leave with out explanation and was escorted out. I'll never be back there again and neither will my friends very disappointing considering it was one of our favourite places.

My partner and I planned to stay here for a month because of the cheap price of the double room and their '' no drinking policy''. Well for the price, the room is quite nice but at night it's impossible to sleep. They say that if you have any problems you can just communicate with the security guard 24/7. The problem is that the security guard is not even at the hostel, he's patrolling in the neigbouring city. Well between 3-5 am in the morning when teenagers are parting at the hostel of 'no drinking policy', you get pretty annoyed by waiting 30 minutes for the security guard to show up. In the morning, you can also enjoy their beautiful rainforest garden with alcohol bottles and beer cans spread all over the place. I do not recommend this place if you are over 18 years old.

The hostel just very good it is in the center of the mall and drinks shopp consumption is only 1 minute man even has a self — club in the hostel but you can no trouble sleeping during the day you have a live tied. the boss is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and large i come from Switzerland.

Worn but tidy, could be a little loud at night, if your a light sleeper get a cabin in the back. The ones around the kitchen are much bigger. Beds didnt creak. Staff are helpful. Each dorm has bathroom, these are a little grubby, and very thin walls. There are 24hr public ones down by the cafe. Very cheap 19bucks if u book multiple nights. I recomend highly. Oh and free unlimited Wi-Fi. No lockers in room, valuables can be stored at front desk.

The Backpakers Hostel is really cool, stayed there 3 nights. Good facilities, clean, great Wi-Fi area, that lets you meet with fellow travellers, BUT beware of the bar! We saw one of the security guards (bald headed guy with dark beard) slip something in some girls drink! Seriously, would not drink anything at that bar anymore.

I got bed bugs a lot in 24 dorm room. They are everywhere! It's been almost a week. Scratch marks haven't gone away yet. The thing is I think they moved to my luggage,, I am having a hard time to get rid of them.

Magnums is a very nice and beautiful hostel. The kitchen area is nice and clean, the atmosphere is quiete and relaxed. There are a lot of palmtrees all around the rooms and you feel like in the jungle. The toilets and showers are clean and the staff is friendly.

Large hostel. Difficult to get to know the staff or anyone else if you're not lucky enough to have cool people in the dorm. The hostel was very clean and the bar was good though. The bathrooms in the dorms were great. Good hostel. (I met my girlfriend there two years ago, sitting drunk outside a dorm at 5am :D).
