Came to lunch a couple of years ago, food, service, outlook was outstanding. After covid have now had the opportunity to stay and this place is so beautiful. Guided tours of the property are very knowledgeable about nature. The staff are excellent and very helpful. I can't say enough good things about the place and the staff.

Being picked up and driven through the resort up into the treetops. The restaurant was great, staff excellent and food very good and reasonably priced.

Locals just stayed 2 nights, beautiful quiet resort, Reception staff friendly, awsome buggy driver chauffer Lincoln was amaysing thumbs up to him! unfortunately we had a slow, little bit rude waitress at the restaurant, ordered a $49 eye fillet which was tiny and literally inedible was cooked black like leather so did not eat waste of $50 and didnt return for any other meals so do not recommend you waste youre money at the restaurant! We would pay good money for good food but that did not happen, hate paying for a dinner when I went to bed hungry.

We just had a very relaxing 5 nights at this beautiful resort. The cuisine is superb, staff all friendly and helpful and the ambiance second to none. The pool area is so tropical and you’re surrounded by nature with rainforest and beautiful birds. There are also two private beaches. Convenient for tours from Port Douglas to the reef, the Daintree etc but tucked away in a peaceful setting on the hillside. Definitely recommend!

Amazing place. Lodges were private, well equipped and clean. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was very good. The beaches are incredible and this is a great location to go into the rainforest. Wi-Fi is available but weak so this is a perfect paradise escape.

We stayed for 4 nights last week. Our stay was amazing! The staff are great and helpful the food was great! The location is amazing and I would recommend the daily activities that they have, we did the stargazing and two birdwatching tours. The guides were so knowledgable and we learnt heaps and saw things I never would have, it really made my trip. I will definitely be back!

You absolutely get what you pay for at this resort. We felt far away, tucked in the rainforest. We loved discovering the plentiful wildlife that abounds within a short walk on the grounds, relaxing in the hammocks on the beach, or just having a bottle of wine off the back porch. The staff there are friendly and care a lot about you having a good time. We were totally blown away, and hope to come back again for another special occasion in the future.

Nice and peacefully located… our room allowed us an amazing view of the Coral Sea, which was spectacular with the full moon rising. Going to sleep to the gentle rustle of the trees and the waves lapping at the beach was so pleasant instead of my usually routine of traffic noise. Breakfast every morning with one of the most spectacular views for a restaurant made every morning a great start. The private access beach was incredible and at sunrise it was all ours. Even as the day grew long you'd be forgiven in thinking it was made just for you. The staff were fantastic. Always more than willing to assist. Asking about plans for the day ahead and also asking what we got up to. I could recommend this place highly enough. I will definitely be back.

Excellent rooms and location, service is fantastic and the team at Thala Beach Lodge are very accommodating, friendly. Location is perfect and close to Port Douglas and Cairns, great access to some of the beaches. Rooms are well maintained with great views. Great activities in and around the lodge. Would definetely recommend to others and would stay here again.

Well this play is just outstanding in all respects-nature lovers paradise to superb wine and dining. View from the restaurant North is towards Port Douglas and the Daintree. The resort is really up there on a place to stay that is unique quiet with sandy beach at your doorstep. Hard to say anything other than complimentary. About 45 minutes North of Cairns Airport and about 15 South of Port Douglas-worth a look for a coldie or a wine even if your on the way to Port.

Absolutely loved our time here. Everything me and my wife could want as the last leg in our honey moon. The rooms were perfect, clean, large, and comfortable. You felt like you were in the middle of nowhere and you still had absolutely every adminity. The restaurant was wonderful as well. Best Gnocchi I have ever had hands down. Wish I could go back again… Like Right now.

The service is outstanding. Well trained, local staff with a quick personal connection to the customer. Nothing is too much trouble. The tree houses are well positioned and private. The beach is quiet; definitely request a picnic lunch and a bottle of wine. We booked the Great Barrier Reef trip with the Calypso group — professionals with an eye on safety — despite the cyclone off-shore, we had a memorable time. For visitors with an aversion to mossies — watch out and use the spray on arrival. Be aware that the ocean is closed to swimmers Nov-April due to stinger jellyfish! Classy establishment — totally unspoiled, and well worth the extra money. Highly recommended.

Wow! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this beautiful eco-lodge nestled amongst the tree tops and offering the most spectacular views of the ocean on one side and the lush green rainforest on the other. From the moment I arrived I felt so welcomed by the amazing staff and by the time I left after only a short stay, I felt like I was leaving friends behind. I can’t review this venue without making mention of the staff I encountered by name and their amazing service. Diana, Emily, Claire and Rose at the front desk were always ready to greet me with a smile and so lovely to chat to. Lincoln the porter was just a phone call away to chauffeur me around the resort on the buggy with a smile. Steve in the restaurant was welcoming at mealtimes to seat me at the nicest table with incredible views. Chef Matt creates the most amazing food in Osprey’s Restaurant and you can’t leave without trying the Spanish Mackerel for lunch. Guy the barman, well he’s the cocktail man! All of these wonderful people are led by Johan Klindt the Resort Manager who has a constant presence around the hotel and is happy to get involved with any assistance required to make this boutique resort a place that anyone would want to return to again and again. As a Corporate Event Manager that sources venues all over the world for my clients, I can’t rate this venue highly enough. This is an absolute must stay for anyone visiting Port Douglas!

We chose Thala Nature Reserve to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary as we'd stayed there before and loved it. So we stayed in their Coral Sea Bungalow this time and honestly, it is a beautiful place to stay and celebrate a special occasion. The whole experience was wonderful. We'd recommend this to anyone.

Awesome location, well kept, friendly staff, excellent service, great cocktails. Rooms clean, awesome views, private… walks and private beach second to none. Amazing pool with some wildelife to share it with. Menu a bit $$$$ But very, very worth it. We dined in Port and Cairns and we’re from Sydney and dine out often… not to mention I work in food flavour innovations … but we would put this Chef and his team at the cutting edge of creativity and flavours that work!

My wife and I stayed at Thala Beach Nature Reserve at the recommendation of our travel agent. After checking in, we found ourselves disappointed in many ways and realized Thala was not the kind of experience we were looking. There were many reasons we were not happy with our decision to stay there and we assumed that other guest staying there would share the same misgivings, however after speaking to some of the other guest we found that while some of them were as disappointment as we were, there were others who were completely happy. So, although Thala was not the right experience for us, it may be just fine for others. The reason for my review is not to criticize the resort or the staff (who were very nice) but to provide information I wish I had prior to making our reservation. I'm not sure if Thala claims to be a resort or not but it certainly does not seem like one. It seems more like nice campground. As the website mentions, Thala is located on a private headland between Cairns and Port Douglas. The headland is basically small mountain surrounded by the ocean. At the top of the mountain is the main lodge and scattered down the mountain, until you reach the ocean, are the guest cabins. The location is approximately 50 minutes from Cairns and about 15 minutes to Port Douglas. More than likely you will be either spending your time on the property (and there is not a lot to do on the property) or in Port Douglas.

A privileged location, Thala Beach an example of construction respecting the environment. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The only drawback is that it's difficult to get to places id you don't have a car, since it's pretty much isolated. The food at the restaurant is really nice but be ready to pay 50-60 dollars per person for an entrée and a main course.

Fantastic location and service. Restaurant also delivering really good food for a hotel restaurant and worth a visit just for food and views. Accommodation is in need of refurbishment really and is quite dated, but can be overlooked given the other positives. We had a fantastic stay and would return.

The location is great and the views from the dining room are fab. But the menu is very small. If you dont like fish not much choice. Very disappointed in this lack of choice.

If you're looking for a relaxing stay in Far North Qld, Thala Beach Nature Reserve is it! Located just a short drive from Port Douglas, nestled amongst the forest with an abundance of wildlife & spectular views out to the Coral Sea. Plenty of free activities including star gazing, nature walks & indigenous culture. The food is delicious using locally sourced ingredients. Rooms spacious and private. Highly recommended.

My mum and I had the most amazing holiday and can't wait to come back! Exceptional service, utter relaxation, and fantastic food. The chef went above and beyond for my vegan diet and you could see the love and care given.

Fantastic service! Amazing views and facilities I regret not staying longer, I would have changed my trip to stay one more night instead of staying two nights in Cairns. The staff was very friendly and so calm that place ricks of serenity. The food at the restaurant was Delicious and well served. I will come back.

You get your own nature spot in a very comfortable, silent, relaxing, isolated cabin where the only noise is made by birds. Service is extremely attentive. As soon as you arrive, all for the complementary activities and make due to subscribe to all of them!

Wonderful accomodation. Great, clean modern cabins set in the bush. Perfect for romance and privacy. Staff seemed lovely too. The restaurant and bar has wonderful views — but unfortunately the food isn't as impressive. Stay here but I'd suggest getting breakfast elsewhere.

Would love to rate them a 5 and if it were only Joan and I then without hesitation but with the kids, afraid not. There's plenty to see, lots of exploring and opportunities to learn about the area's flora and fauna, people and culture, wildlife and habitats. Overall a wonderfully secluded, exceptionally beautiful property well on its way to transforming from sugar cane farm and returning to its rain forest roots. Rooms are private, utilitarian bungalows with everything you need and nothing you don't. The buffet breakfast is a must add-on to your room for all Americans, allowing a hearty meal to start the day, enough to see you through until supper. The dinner menu is where they lost a star for those travelling with kids, even teens and tweens, there is very little they will enjoy. The food is far too gourmet for the burgers and pizza crowd and the remote location requires a $70-80 AUS round trip fare to get take away in Port Douglas. That simply isn't practical meaning the kids went hungry between breakfasts. So the lack of dining options for families with kids really takes away from what is otherwise a jewel on the coast of Australia. Perfect couples retreat. If you can live with limited dining options then you will not be disappointed.

Amazing place! As local we usually stop by for drinks on ot way to Port Douglas but I have to say it s worth it to book a night and experience the jungle and the beautiful pool.
Also the restaurant is full of surprises.
The staff was friendly and the food the best we had since years!

Had my wedding here, with 40 guest. Could not have asked for a better place, the stuff was great very polite and easy approach. Angie the wedding coordinate was a great help explaining everything to us. Had to arrange everything from a different country, so could have been hard but wasn't. The view was spactacula, the peacock room was a great location with a beautiful view of the beach and rain forest.

A beautiful, secluded retreat that blends into its natural surroudings and offers privacy and comfort with a rustic touch. A great base for exploring Port Douglas or further north with friendly and accommodating staff.

Treat their customers like dogs, and don’t clean the air con filters, thus causing sickness. I stayed there, they have a carpark and a service where they will go and get your car (car park is a fair hike from reception), and when I asked for my car politely, the person at reception said “they don’t offer that service to dogs” – seriously, word for word. Luxury accom without a spa bath, heated pool, Internet in room (it's dial up only and charged as a phone call), bluray player, any sort of stereo/music player, or decent TV. Food is average and highly overpriced, everything is overpriced for that matter. There's no room service. The only thing this place has going for it is the location and staff/service.

The best place I have ever stayed at by far, service is 2nd to none! they will make you feel like a king, Location is perfect, but would recommend picking up a rental car at Cairns or Port Douglas for extra convenience. The rooms are very spacious and quiet, only disappointment was that we had one bottle of champagne left when we departed after 4days. Pool was awesome and well designed, Beach shack was ok could be better with fresh fruit cocktails, There lodge buggy was always available to shuttle you around the large complex Very Highly recommended place to get away from it all and relax. Meals were pretty expensive but Port Douglas wasn't too far away to eat out. It wasn't very busy when we went which was nice so a great place all round.
