Fantastic Pub and a Proper bar, Great Homebrews and great food. I would Recomend the Chicken Burger its Delicious. A well priced pub and fantastic Location. This place also has a pool table and dart board which is hard to come by these days in the heart of sydney. The standout feature to this place is without a doubt their fantastic staff a special shout out to Jake behind the bar.

The very best pub in Sydney. There is everything you need for a good night here. Pool and darts in the back and a beautiful traditional pub setting facing the street with gorgeous decor inside.

We had such a lovely time at this hotel last night for my husband's birthday dinner. The food we ordered was delicious, affordable and came out really quickly. The staff went above and beyond to serve us, even specially buying ice-cream to have with the cake we brought and refusing payment! We were all so impressed with the service and will be back again soon.

The website paints a very different picture of the bar than the reality. Very cramped, and reminds me of the worst aspects of ocker Australian pubs.

Remarkably unfriendly old corner pub in the back streets of Woolloomooloo with a very prominent "Locals Only" vibe. Regular customers are very suspicious of newcomers. New faces are suspected to be undercover police due to a propensity for regulars to be up to no good. Service very slow for anyone the staff aren't familiar with. No air-conditioning, cramped interior, heritage toilets. Extremely dark and dodgy neighbourhood. Friendly vibe if you are a local.

Nice location! Would give them a 3.8 out of 5 The staff are really friendly and provide nearly 5 star. The location is central to the city. The hotel rooms and are basic and I had air-conditioning room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom was clean and hygienic, could use a few more hooks to hang your clothing on. The bed was comfortable enough. There was a little bit of street noise but pretty good. There was a fair bit of noise coming from music in the bar downstairs made it difficult to sleep (Wednesday night). I would consider staying here again but would definitely bring earplugs.

Great friendly staff, I booked a work Xmas lunch here without much notice in December and they were very accommodating. Table was set beautifully and the back rooms were light and airy. Solid pub food options and beer on tap. Best of all, no pokies to be seen. Joy. Thanks guys!

Best pub in the city. Great beers and great vibe. Can spend hours here chatting to mates. They have a new vegan menu (in addition to the regular pub menu) for those who are so inclined.

Great character filled hotel. Small and personal. A small number of rooms above a pub. No a/c, but a fan and a heater. Rooms are small and most have shared bathroom. Friendly staff.

Room was great. Location was great. Running out of toilet paper for 2 days in the shared bathrooms not good.

Easily walkable to many locations (twenty minutes to the Opera House if you don't go around the park like I did) and with friendly staff, an excellent dinner, and clean and comfortable accommodations.

Excellent vegan menu. Onion rings and burger were fantastic. Staff was incredibly thoughtful and helpful with my food allergies. Really enjoyed the place. The only thing that would make the place better would be if the whole menu was vegan!

Great little pub, menu is almost entirely vegan, Ali though there is a decent list of option for those of us who prefer meat, back courtyard is a little soulless but the front is awesome.

I recommend that you definitely try out this pub the food in the restaurant is just fantastic. I reckon it would be one of the top options in Sydney for vegan dining the chef and all the staff were just lovely to us.

Food was really nice and the restaurant was nice and cosy. Service was also good.

Went on Thursday night which is trivia night. Hate trivia night but this was okay. Nice vegan meal but not so great vegan dessert. Vegan mudcake = blandness.

We had a fantastic vegan meal at the East Sydney Hotel last night — the pulled jackfruit burger was especially delicious. And they had my favorite beer to top it all off — Blue Moon — which is a rare find! The only downside was that the kitchen was quite backed up — we waited ~45 mins for two burgers to arrive and they ran out of two of the items we wanted to try. In all fairness, our server did acknowledge that they've only had the vegan menu for two days so they are still working out some of the kinks.

Excellent local pub with good beer, friendly staff, and most importantly amazing vegan food selection, with GF options. This is where you want to stay if in Sydney for a few days and want a somewhere comfortable. Jazz band on sunday afternoon! will return!

Great traditional Pub no screens or pokies and Jazz on Sundays. You can even sit outside! A rare treat in Sydney.

No very nice my first dining in this place. Burger was under cooked. Hopefully that wont be an issue again. I will definitely post a update after my second order.

I'd been looking at the new crowd that gave this old place a pumping buzz, I was curious, but I should of known better when I saw that the pump had moved on… Sadly for us we decided to overlook the emptiness and thought we'd give the food a go. OMG, one word — HORRIBLE! The burger looked ok at first, but after the first bite it literally deflated in front of our eyes. All that could be tasted was a sauce that was unidentifiable and it left a very unpleasant salty aftertaste that is still lingering on 2 hours later… : (

New management (July 2016) have done this place up very nicely, bring in a new chief and giving this place a much needed revamp.

Great live music scene and atmosphere. Only downfall was the small choice of beer and lack of pitchers.
