OK, however, overpriced & inexpericed staff. Parking, overpriced & really only suitable for small cars. Won't go there again!

We stayed in a fully self contained unit overlooking Hyde Park. Superb bed, clean, had everything you'd need and a very well stocked supermarket just about 8 minutes walk on Oxford Street. Couldn't fault it. And the view from the rooftop pool! Wow.

Good location, great service from everyone. I travel all the time and showers are important. This hotel has seriously bad showers. Really disappointed when everything else is quite good.

Clean and staff are friendly. I'm really disappointed by the shower though, it was a fine mist. Great view from the pool!

Very central hotel that I'd recommend. Rooms are apartment like in that they have a separate lounge/ kitchen, etc. Plenty of food options nearby and it's easy to get around with bus stops and Museum Station just out the front of the hotel.

I was provided with a cute little studio. The corridors look a little worn but room looks nice but simple. The alleged king sized bed is actually two beds pushed together which I detest and is the main reason it's lost a star.

Renovated rooms are nice and comfortable. The sliding door to the patio isn’t double glazed so there is a lot of street noise on the lower levels (I was on 4). Complementary Wi-Fi is for 30 minutes/day, then you are charged crazy rates. I take at least 1 star off for Wi-Fi fees. Apart from that, close to everything in the city and 24 hour reception.

Hotel looks very nice and cozy with concierge but inside the rooms are small, old and not very clean. The staff is very friendly but they don't speak Italian and there is no elasticity to check in. I would not recommend it because although it is located in very central area it is too expensive for what it offers and also we were not warned that the pool included in the price was closed for renovation.

I recommend to try it out if going to Canberra because it is centrally located and very convenient to get to the city.

Really old hotel in good location. The upgraded rooms are really tired. I guess an upgrade compared to sleeping in the street. 2br apartments only have one bathroom and if you're at the back of the hotel your rooms are overlooked.

The worst Oaks we've stayed at. Pool and spa out of order. Air conditioner was shocking would work for about half an hour the just blow air. Had to keep turning on and off. In need of an upgrade through corridoors. Our room however was nice looking good amenties were good.

The location is great. We can walk everywhere. The hotel is a bit tired but the rooms are very large.

Lovely place to stay dead centre to everything staff are very helpful and polite would recommend it' apartments are very spacious and clean. Overall enjoyed my stay here.

I travel a lot for work and I have to say this is one of the poorest standards I have experienced. The room was ok, basic but approximate to the price. On further use of the room, you could see paint was peeling/missing on walls, power points and appliances didn't work. Aircon didn't work or worked overtime. Used the gym while there — basic but functional. I don't think it had been clean down in a while and no spray or paper towel to wipe of machines when finished using them. Small pool/spa covered over with a ripped tarp. The cleanliness is questionable. Saw several cockroaches during my stay and the lovely leather headboard has questionable marks on it. They attended my room each day — note the bed making skills in photo. Reception staff not very helpful… I called down for a taxi to leave for the day and they told me to walk down the road to the taxi rank… it was bucketing down rain and I was in corporate wear for an important meeting. I stay with Oaks regularly across Australia and this one has the be their worst. Overall, I would not recommend this place and not worth the almost $1000 I spent for 4 nights accommodation.

I think the least favourite accommodation I've had in years. It's utterly depressing. Can't open windows or doors (although there is a door to the balcony, it is locked). There are virtually NO power points and certainly none where you might need them. No bedside tables and only one power point in the bedroom, on the opposite wall from the bed. Bedroom is tiny, whilst the 'lounge' is a big wasted space. No minibar of course. No restaurants or anything close by (Sunday evening). The restaurant downstairs was closed when I arrived although only 8pm. Harsh overhead lighting (no lamps). The table, which is the only spot for working, has no reachable powerpoints for computer charging. And the process for buying Wi-Fi access is convoluted and ridiculous. I would rather be almost anywhere else. Don't stay here — it's terrible.

It was decent and clean. But the elevator fob didn't work and the concierge wouldn't replace it, only scan me up each time. The room was also very mousey and the power points were very hot and miss. Had a fairly claustrophobic feel. Would probably not go back unless there was no where else.

Agree with the other negative reviews — great location but the apartment we had looked good at first sight but then … annoying bad smell did not leave with opening the balcony doors, aircondition blew only warm air and was blocked so could not change the controls. Bathroom is clearly still in 1970s with no vent or fan (! ) moisture and mold sitting everywhere. And yes, bad smell in the carpets around the entire building from lobby to room … so avoid visiting until massive refurbishment, but I heard they are all individual investment apartments by different owners … so bad luck the smell is deep in the carpets.

Look — So I travelled around a fair bit in the last 12 years professionally and personally and almost never write reviews. But I will today as I want to say that (while this place amuses me as I came alone and enjoy a joke) the room (room 805) smells of stale bodily odours, reminds me of a 1970’s house, and the bath looks like giant scales were removed from it or it suffered severe sunburn. The bedroom sports a painting instead of a TV that sums up the place and there’s another locked door inches from the bed — horrid but ‘that’s the humour of it! ’ — pics to come if they let me upload but sadly I can’t share the smell. 180 dollars a night.

Very comfortable accommodation with very good facilities. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is very central. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return.

The lobby constantly smelled of urine and there were no works going on that could explain why, and the staff didn't offer any explanation either — it seemed like this was normal, unbelievably! The hallways were dark and dank, and the lift had no ventilation and was incredibly slow. The rooms were gloomy and had tiny bathrooms, with a view into a carpark and adjoining apartments. The only high point was the location which, admittedly, was excellent. That being said, I'm sure there are other more well maintained hotels in the area that even if more expensive, would be worth the additional cost to avoid staying here.

Nice apartment, great location close to everything like gay bars and restaurants. 2 minutes walk to museum station, 5 minutes walk to town hall station and Westfield shopping center CBD.

Not a bad hotel, Its older. Rooms are spacious. I was disappointed with the laundry service, they sting you $10 per load. $4 washing, $2 powder and $4 dryer. Wifi aint free also. Great location, close to all the attractions. Hyde park is across the road. Woolworths and Coles 600m away. In addition, having a full kitchen is a huge benefit.

Good location, shops including an IGA nearby for groceries, close to museum station, easy train to airport, room good, air conditioning did try to slow roast me overnight, had to turn it off. Lots of power points in room.

Location is great. Beds are average. Shower won't maintain temperature and no water pressure. No hot water in the kitchen. Bathroom is in poor condition. Paid parking is an ordeal every time just to get in then almost impossible to get out. Probably try somewhere else next time.

The location is very good, the GT building and the elevator look good, but the equipment is old, the toilet. The faucet is leaking, the TV doesn't know why it's on the dresser.

Shabby room. I was on the second floor and the traffic noise was terrible. Could hear the usual trucks of course, but also sirens, cars, motorbikes, the pedestrian crossing beep noise and actual pedestrians. That's while wearing ear plugs.

Good location and room had been modernised, however there was other people's rubbish left in the room. Also the upgrade to the room had not included the curtains which were very thin and with the room facing east there was not chance of a sleep in!

The hotel was in a great location. Rooms were quite nice and service was good. The rooftop pool is beautiful and would be great in the summer. However, the pool is not really heated or it doesn't work well, the jacuzzi broken and the sauna didn't work very well. Still recommend the place to stay.

Clean Spacious rooms with king size bed and a large kitchen with all modern conveniences. Dish Washer, Oven, Hot Plate, Microwave, 2 door Fridge/Freezer. Kettle and Toaster. Bathroom was clean. Pool, Spa, Gym facilities available on the roof via 15th floor On site secured parking available for $40/Day though you need to call the hotel and book a parking space.

It was fine. Room was lovely. Kind of frustrating to not receive any direction how to use the elevator and the card didnt work in my door.

Honestly, disgusting. I was booked here for an extended work trip and had to be moved after my first night. The rooms are dark, damaged, smelly and so noisy I challenge anyone to fall asleep. So loud that I couldn't talk on the phone if a bus was driving past. The staff didn't care. They couldn't accommodate me anywhere else they said as there was works on the upper floors. The pool area is feral and you have to walk up a old rickety and frankly unsafe stairwell to get there. There was suspicious stains all over the bench, cockroaches running around the room. Loud neighbours and dated decor, dark hallways, staying there by myself as a female I felt unsafe. The door lock didnt seem to work properly and I kept expecting someone to walk in the room Outside my bedroom the carpet was stained all the way to the garbage chute, a trail of bin juice. I would never, ever recommend this, stay here again or stay at any other 'Oaks' accommodation. Neither will anyone from my 10, 000 strong company. Can I leave a zero star instead?

Check in was nice, and that was about it. The bathroom had cockroaches and I got RINGWORM! from the sheets, disgusting. I couldnt believe it. There was a man walking up and down the corrodore at 2:30am talking loudly on his phone, I called reception and they sent someone up. Which I was stoked about. But thats it. Big let down. Plus the reception stank like sewerage. So gross. Staying next door at the pullman next time. Much better facilities and nice and modern.

I booked online for 2 nights $1000. The photos on the website are NOT the rooms you get! Very run down, broken areas surrounding pool and spa, mouldy areas in bathroom, air con didnt work, dated furniture, broken kitchen cupboards. NOT anything like advertising! Ive emailed hotel with photos I took with dissapointment. I have had NO reply. Embarrised I took my visitors from England to stay there. Would not recommend staying there.

Very run down. The pool was green and murky and unusable during my stay. The staff are professional but the facilities and condition let this place down. I wouldn't go back.

Reception service was excellent and very approachable and helpful.

There were the basics. A kitchen, bathroom and a bed. But the Wi-Fi regularly dropped out, and the bathroom design was only sensible from a perspective of fitting in all the required amenities. However, the staff were friendly, location is good and the place was clean. I've stayed at worse, but I'd hoped for better.

Stayed at room 704 (an apartment), booked a room for 6 and the apartment only had one room and one bathroom. Very run down and fairy dirty matresses.

A little bit run down, but great location.

Beautiful! We were in an apartment for a week while visiting and this was the perfect location! The rooms were a little bland on the inside, but I guess that's determined by individual owners. We ended up buying dish soap, detergent and sponges to leave there for the next renters.

Stayed here for a week during a trip. Very affordable for the location, nice place, clean rooms, rooftop pool an incredible view, and great service overall. The lobby smells very strange though.

I booked for 3 days and 2nights. Received a confirmation of my booking at booking. Com and in seperate email, a welcome greeting from the hotel. As soon as I arrived unfortunately, she do not accept my booking and ask to call booking. Com to cancel my booking. I ask the concierge if I can use one of PowerPoint to charge my phone and show to her my phone is low battery. She can’t even assist and said no PowerPoint at all. I beg if I can even use other powerful but she doesn’t even care. How I’m I going to contact the booking. Com, when my phone is low battery. She refused to let me use anything to this hotel. I actually feel discriminate because I am Asian. I didn’t feel welcome or anything. They just cancelled my booking as soon they see me. I do not recommend this hotel at all. If you want to book at this hotel specially if you are Asian think before you book. If might happen the same thing to you as what happen to me. I thought I didn’t experience this discrimination specially here in Australia. I been Australian citizen for decade now and never ever experience this. Luckily, next door Hotel make me feel better when they accomodate me in very pleasant and very professional.

I stayed with Oaks Hyde for a business event with my partner. The outlook of the reception was of a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Overall stay was okay. The front desk weren't to keen on providing assistance and the Apartment Room we stayed in had a strong cigarette smell that made our 2 nights impossible to have a good nights rest.

Stay well, great room and a balcony, kitchen, is the room too old, bed sheet quilt some tide.

Only one lift working. Hallways smelt musty. Great location but hotel is very very tired.

My husband and I stayed here for a week while on holiday in Sydney. We were extremely disappointed in the room we were given as it was very small and looked like it was half renovated. I couldn't have possibly stayed there for a week. It had a cold floor (floating floorboard) and no carpet at all. The room was on the dark (no sun) side of the hotel. The bathroom's ceiling and shower were mouldy and we both kept stubbing our toes on the step into the bathroom. There was no plug in the sink and just a big open, dirty drain that made me feel sick using it. The kitchen also had a step that was dangerous. The kitchenette was tiny with no space to even make a cup of tea. We paid over $200 a night for our room. I told the reception staff how unhappy we were and they were onto it straight away :) We found the staff to be VERY friendly and helpful. I really expected to be told there was nothing they could do about it and my review would have been Poor for everything as I just wouldn't have recommended it at all. We dealt with 4 different staff trying to upgrade us and we couldn't fault how professional and terrific they were. After our 2nd night we were moved to the sunny side of the building overlooking the beautiful Hyde Park. It was very roomy and comfortable. A coulple of lights were blown but after letting staff know, they were replaced promptly.

We normally go to great lengths to check out accomodation prior to booking and unfortunately this time we really regretted not doing so. The staff were pleasant enough and the location is good but we were extremely disapointed in the condition of the room. The furniture and the carpet was badly stained, the arm rests on the lounge chairs were sticky and overall, maintenance was well below expectations. We have been visiting Sydney for more than 30 years and this hotel is on the never again list. Overall a huge disappointment. Definitely not recommended.

It was not a very pleasant stay my bed linen was not tucked in only half made. Bathroom door on both sides were kicked in and a poor attempet to patch the inside one. Carpet was as if it was urined on walls marked empty jd can and ciggerate buts on my balcony the other room I booked for my daughter wasnt much better and to take a 7wk old baby in there was fairly bad. All I could hear through the night was the tap in the bathroom running. For $240 a night it def was not worth it good job we took photos of both rooms when we checked in just incase these jokers try and keep my $300 wont be back and have told friends a family as well.

The worst place I have ever stayed, the room was dirty, tap in the bathroom wouldnt turn off, the bathroom door had been kicked in the furniture old fashioned, even although the pool area was being renovated they still expected us to pay $ 240 per room and we booked two for us and our family. The aircon in the other room was falling off the ceiling. Empty can of JD on the balcony full of cigarette butts no light shade in the bathroom. Looks like a dump old and smelly. NEVER STAY HERE Pay the extra and go somewhere clean, modern and comfortable.
