Perfect location, close to CBD, ferries, fish markets & all the other good stuff. Walk around Pyrmont & explore the great food & wine. Love Mr Percy Bar, excellent food & wine in a beautiful cosy setting. 11/10

Magnificent small hotel housed within an old wool store The lobby, reception and bar/restaurant are filled with the atmosphere of the old building We opted for the modern rooftop “stirred” suite, which is a glass box on the roof. The room is stunning, unlike anything we have ever stayed in. (Whilst you do need to go up two flights of stairs to access the room the staff did help with bags) The highlight is the team, from the GM down, everyone was helpful, friendly and professional. It’s great to see the General Manager out at reception, or helping in the bar, getting to know his guests Definitely a must in Sydney, only a couple of minutes walk into Darling Harbour and the light rail.

Just outstanding. Wonderful care and service, beautiful room and facilities and fantastic food from Mr Percy. 10 stars from me.

We’ve stayed with Ovolo Wooloomooloo, Ovolo Nishi and Ovolo 1888.1888 is so far the best! It’s cozy and warm and a great haven in an area of Sydney where bad taste abounds. Love the decor, the ambience and the warmth of the staff was top notch. It’s a home away from home.

Absolutely loved our stay here. It was only for one night but we will be back. It has everything you need right down to a bag for wet clothes which we actually needed as Master 4 went splashing at the water park at Darling Harbour. Staff were extremely helpful, our previous nights stay was at another hotel and we checked out early as the traffic noise was horrible. This hotel was so quiet and we left with smiles on our faces. Our room was fresh and modern with a free mini bar! The added touches of Apple TV and a speaker linked to Spotify was also another added bonus. Location was great, a 5 minute walk to Darling Harbour. Five stars!

Food is Veegan only for room / dining and breakfast. No options so it forces their lifestyle on guests yet fail to readily advise guests. Small rooms but close to all the kitsch tourist traps.

Ovolo hotels have nailed it with this hotel. It is fun and funky, centrally located without being in too busy an area. The breakfast buffet is great, and the mini bar and snack bag in the room is a cool touch. I love the addition of an Amazon Alexa assistant in the room that is connected and can play music or tell me the time on command. The staff are attentive without being pushy and the rooms are neat and comfy. Ovolo hotels really are of the 21st century and I only hope they continue to do what they do and move ahead with the times as technology and innovation moves. Thanks.

Great location with an excellent hotel restaurant attached. The rooms are small but well designed so you don't feel cramped at all. The bathroom is actually quite generous in size. If you love mini bars then Ovolo have you covered. Quite literally as it's all complimentary. Mister Percy is the restaurant downstairs, and the breakfast here is superb although I haven't tried their new breakfast menu as yet. Don't drive as there is very limited street parking and the parking station across the hotel with demand your right arm for payment.

This place rocked. I’d begun making the switch to Airbnb before staying here. But this place is next level. Great food, free minibar, free happy hour, awesome toiletries, fantastic service, happy staff. The rooms are fresh and it’s super convenient to Darling Harbour and the ICC. Will stay again!

Highly recommend! Warm welcoming and stylish. Love the characters of the building and rooms, blending the old with the new. Service is incredible and good value for money with free mini bar and snacks provided for your stay. Its the attention to detail and little surprises that sets Ovolo apart. I’ll be coming back.

Third time here! This was the hotel that converted us to Ovolo lovers! Whenever we travel now we check for an Ovolo! Great staff here, rooms are great (even the tiny ones). We flew in from overseas early in the morning and they helped us into a room ASAP! Thankful for dining choices, snacks, happy hour, and breakfast options! It’s our choice.

Stayed here for my anniversary and I couldn’t find any faults about this place. This refurbished heritage building is absolutely gorgeous! The interior is modern with a hip, urban twist. Kind of bummed I didn’t take photos of the place! 10/10 Would definitely be back here.

Good location! Nice interior design! Lot's of freebies! Stacked mini beer I mean bar :-), free happy hour every night! Staff are super nice and will help you on your needs specially when I arrive here for early check in, they make sure you get a room ready.

Great, accommodating staff! Convenient location and clean rooms. Free minibar with contents restocked daily, which is a nice touch. Good bar and restaurant downstairs with a coffee machine for patrons. The free gym access is a few blocks away, but quite nice. Free Wi-Fi was useful too. I'd be happy to stay here again.

Excellent hotel where I've stayed at twice now. Rooms have excellent decor, though may be a bit small. The included everything is the best part. Wi-Fi, drinks, minibar, laundry, etc. Staff is helpful and everything is new and clean. Highly recommend.

Currently staying at Ovolo… best hotel experience I have had in Australia. Such a fresh, funky vibe with very attentive and friendly staff. We booked direct with them and received many perks. Never been given so many free drinks! Very convenient location. I wouldn't' stay anywhere else in Sydney if I can help it.

Staff and amenities were excellent. Comfortable environment close to the city centre. However, the location makes large bus access difficult for drop off and pick up.

Great location, nice toiletries and super friendly staff, very tastefully furnished. Downside: my room was outside the laundry room and soundproofing is poor which really really made for a poor experience. Plus it's a bit musty. Decides to check out early as a result. Four stars rather than two because I'm sure the rest of the rooms are better. Just ask for a high floor.

Quirky and cool hotel. The goodie bag on arrival was a nice touch. The free, restocked daily, mini-fridge was fantastic and the room was clean and tidy. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only downside was that the bed, and pillow, were a tad soft for me, but that is a personal preference. Great stay and the breakfast in bed was delicious.

Quirky boutique hotel a bit like QT and others but different at the same time. Lots of inclusions for the price including: (1) free small mini bar in the room (2 beers and 2 half bottles of wine), not enough to get drunk on but nice all the same. (2) free continental breakfast (again only limited but a enough to fill you up) (3) free happy hour drinks and canapes for one hour in the evening. (4) Free coffee & tea (5) free lollies to keep your energy level going through the day. Decor is clever and quirky with some interesting artworks and the fitout celebrates the buildings history in a modern funky way. Staff we super friendly and tried hard to make sure you had everything you needed and room etc was super clean fresh and new. Only down side from the stay was that we had a ground floor room, so it offered no views and limited natural light as the window was frosted for privacy. I would definitely stay again but would request a room on the upper floors.

My experience at the Ovolo has been fantastic. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are nice and have everything that one needs for a stay in the Darling Harbor area. Plus, this hotel really takes the mantra "free" to heart. I was treated to a free coffee, shower, and bag holding when I arrived far before checking time. The fridge in each room is stocked daily with free drinks. Onsite self service laundry is available (and yes, free). Breakfast in the morning is free too, for continental fare. Of the three hotels I have been a guest with in the area over the last year, this hotel has been the best, hands down.

The room was a junior suite with two single beds. The room was spacious, nice and greatly comfortable and being near the Harbour and casino it made one hell of an 18th birthday. Pricing was good and in our package included all free things from our mini bar. The free breakfast buffet and free drinks at specific times was very fun and they even include a bday cocktail for whose ever it is. Definitely would stay there again.

Simply put this hotel is a hidden jewel in the jungle of the Sydney CBD. If you want enormous rooms you get lost in this may not be for you but if you want a beautifully decorated, clean, intimate get away this is for you and don't get me wrong, the rooms are more then ample with all the best fittings. The hotel is an easy walk to Darling Harbour, The Star, The Lyric Theatre and even the CBD. Book through their web site and you get 'free' drinks 5.30 to 6.30 every day and free snacks, you get goodies bags in your room AND a free mini bar (limited but sufficient). On top of this and definitely the cherry on the cake are the staff. Without a doubt the friendliest group we have ever encountered and I have spent a night or two in hotels over the years.

Fantastic boutique hotel with amazing service. Great inclusions like free mini bar, breakfast and happy hour when you book directly. No on site gym but you get access to the nearby snap fitness. Can't recommend this place highly enough if you need to be near Darling Harbour.

Room was small but comfortable. Nice vibe and decor. Great service. The only thing that bugged me was something clicking on the room throughout the night that kept us awake. Sounded like the air con panel. Would visit again.

Quite easily the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Compared to the Hilton, Four Seasons, Langham the service and feel of Ovolo is really a step up. I would also like to shout out to the lovely lady who saw I was in a rush on my way out and went to the effort of grabbing me a takeaway breakfast with an apple to boot. Really stellar service Ovolo, keep it up! (I haven't even ranted about happy hour or the free minibar or the Loot Bags. This place has all bases covered)

Overall experience was one of the best stays I've had in Sydney. The whole time was a fluid transition from check-in to bar, to room to breakfast and the value for the experience was exceptional. Staff made it inviting and the atmosphere is something to beat. The room, while a bit small was neat and unique, equipped with smart accessories and complimentary mini bar. The following mornings breakfast buffet was basic but food was quality. The kitchen is available for more substantial meals as well. In sum, an amazing stay and will be staying Ovolo again!

This hotel is hip and fresh. Plenty of quirky little cultural and linguistic nuisances. (the "please make up room" sign for the door says "Go ahead. Make my bed. ") Room decor is original, bathrooms have space and are modern. Mini bar drinks are complimentary. Staff at the front desk and restaurant-bar are friendly and helpful. Check out the floor under the elevators. *There was a booking error from the company and on Ovolo's end this was handled very professionally and I appreciated it very much. I'll definitely be looking for Ovolo when traveling in the future.

Beautiful boutique hotel, a street back from Darling Harbour. The fit-out is phenomenal with service to match. Complimentary Wi-Fi, mini-bar & an evening happy hour all enhace the experience. Allowing me 'log in' to my existing Apple account via the in-room AppleTV was a nice touch.

What's not to like about the Ovolo? Yes — some of the self-knowingly labelled "Shoebox" rooms are smaller than their counterparts at the larger chains, but the personality and perks of this boutique hotel help to distinguish it from the crowd. From the striking artwork on the walls to the complementary drinks at happy hour, there's much to love here (free minibar anyone? ). I am somewhat loathe to recommend the place since I want it to remain my little secret, but the staff are unremittingly nice and I feel it's my duty to get the word out there. If you like a bit of personality to your stay, then you could do much worse than a night or two at Ovolo 1888.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Ovolo 1888! Location — conveniently situated in Darling Harbour, a block a way from the water so no Harbour views but only a 15 walk to downtown and a 5 min walk to the ferry or light rail. It is also a 5 min walk to the Fish Market (which we loved) and the Star Casino (if that's your thing) Rooms — the rooms were well appointed with nice touches you don't get in many luxury 5-star hotels. Multiple sockets and adapters, toothbrushes in the bathroom, and of course the free mini bar. While on the small side, which didn't bother us at all, the bed was extremely comfortable. Amenities/Service — this is what really sets the hotel apart! The service was simply outstanding with everyone we met happy to go out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. In addition to the more than ample continental breakfast (includes meat/cheese as well as yogurt and granola) and happy hour, we made use of the 24/7 snack bar to make sure we had drinks on our way out for the day We'd definitely stay at the Ovolo 1888 again!

A great place to stay for Darling harbour and city centre. Hotel 1881 is a short stay hotel and staff there are very welcoming and any information or request you make is delt with professionaly I would recommend it for anyone wishing to stay in Sydney.

An excellent hotel with its own character — so not generic and not a chain. We had a loft room which was excellent. The hotel is located close to Darling Harbor, which is great as well. The staff there was always helpful and super-enthusiastic. All in all, a great place to stay in Sydney.

We had a great weekend stay at 1888 in Pyrmont. The rooms are smallish but very efficient and have absolutely everything you need. The service was excellent, we really enjoyed ourselves here — and great location too.

This was simply a lovely hotel. The most chic hotel I have come across in Sydney, for a fraction of the cost. Rooms are well designed, immaculate, and the lobby is a fun environment. I have already booked subsequent reservations for the future. Recommend for everyone.

Really nice hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, the staff is very friendly, the Wi-Fi is strong. Clean rooms and bathrooms. The restaurant in the hotel is pricey — there's plenty of food in the mall next door. Getting to public transit from the hotel is also pretty easy, but hidden — you have to cut through the parking garage next door to get to the light rail, and light rail can get you to the Central train station.

Fantastic boutique hotel in a ripping location. Sitting down near the water (no views) of Darling Harbour with quick access to restaurants and other goodies the area has to offer. Modern rooms in a tastefully converted wool shed. Mid range prices (actually pretty cheap by Sydney standards) but the best value for money in the region. Excellent staff. Great bar. Awesome breakfasts. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.
