Review of Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens 4*

I stayed here as it was close to the venue I always attending for a wedding as all wedding guests were staying here also, I thought ide treat myself to the king superior room. Leading up to the wedding (a month and half before) I tried calling the hotel for 3 days straight to as for a early check in as the wedding was at 2:30pm and check in was 2:00pm unfortunately I couldn’t get through to the reception or the hotel at all, I decided to email about a early check in as all wedding guests were checking in early to get ready at the hotel, unfortunately they “couldn’t guarantee a early check in what so ever” I was happy to pay a extra fee but unfortunately still couldn’t get a early check in. I arrived at the reception to check in and the lady at the desk (rudely) told myself and another couple staying out rooms weren’t ready at all and not sure when they will be ready? Luckily we were already half ready for the wedding we just needed to change our clothes. We raced into the bathrooms to change. As we walked out we were told we can finally check in to one room so we did, as we arrived into the room it was very dated (that’s not a problem) but unfortunately it smelt musky, the lighting was very dull, Cockroaches in the bathroom, mirrors were dirty as well as shower there was abit of mould in the shower, toilet was dirty, towels were all stained the floors didn’t seem to be vacuumed at all, the curtains and wall had mould, the glasses and cups in cupboards were dirty, the linen on the bed was abit questionable since there was no fitted sheet nor doona cover. As a hotel/ air bnb cleaner myself I was abit disappointed specially since I paid 500$ for one night for this in the hunter valley, I did have to clean the shower ect myself before using. As we checked out we mentioned to the lady at the desk and all she could say was you’ll have to leave a review? Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our stay here, I do understand that it’s a hard job trying to keep up with the cleanliness of that amount of rooms but it really isn’t hard to keep up with reviews and feed back about these issues and solving the problems. I’m sorry to have leave a review about this but after we mentioned this all we received was leave a review so here it is. Unfortunately I can’t say I enjoyed my stay here.
