Hotel is definitely due for an update but it is still quite charming. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Restaurant was nice. Pool area is good. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

I only got to spend a night, but wish I'd had a week. There is a open air car park a very close walk to the entrance. The room was spacious and clean and I never once heard my neighbors. There were many steps to get from the lobby to the restaurant, then more to the pool, then even more to the back lawn. Said lawn went to a secluded beach with an amazing view. The pool was relaxing with a wading area for children (as well as a slide), a whirlpool, plenty of deck seating and a had lorikeets and other birds buzzing about the palm trees (but NOT buzzing your head). I was surprised at the prices for drinks & snacks in the lobby, but as my first visit to a resort hotel I don't know if this is common. The $31 steak was great, the $16 drink not so much. Instead of the $20 just-cereals & breads buffet I sprang for the $25 breakfast buffet (meats & eggs incl. — both came with juices, milk, coffee etc. ). In short — the atmosphere was relaxing — the room price amazingly reasonable, but they get you in the food department. Still, I would stay here again, but for longer.

It’s kinda like the Resort that time forgot… probably was super cool in the 90s, but that’s where it seems to have stayed! Staff are great, but they have this massive resort that hasn’t really been updated to deal with. Curtains don’t quite meet in the middle, gym looks like uncle Frank’s scary backyard gym… if you get it super cheap, well worth it, but if you’re expecting an actual resort, you might be disappointed.

We arrived here today just for 1 night. The staff were lovely, location is spot on. Facilities are fantastic, food was good value and fresh. The rooms are fine, cleanliness is equal to 5 star, I think you get a lot of bang for your buck here. Kids love it and that means happy holidays.

First off, the service from the staff at Opal Cove Resort is fantastic. Friendly, smiling and professional. What brings the resort down are the rooms and amenities. Everything needs a bit of attention, or in some places a serious update. Rooms are musty, lifts are clunky and the decor is seriously outdated. I also do not recommend the restaurant for dinner, as it is incredibly overpriced for what you get. Breakfast buffet is great though.

We stopped there for 1 night, had the full breakfast the next day and just had a look around the place. It was quite nice, staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a good night's sleep. You can hear the waves from the beach nearby which is soothing.

Very nice for booked on line, and when arrived I sadly had a view of the car park. So for $20 I upgraded to an ocean view room it was a very good size I do think the rooms near to be updated there looking a bit tired now especially the bathroom. Can not fault the food it was lovely and so fresh and tasty staff are lovely and friendly and the view is fantastic.

Starting to show it’s age, rooms are large but thin walls. The fountain in the foyer is a dated monstrosity, but this is the flavour of the establishment. The saving grace here are the staff — all smiling and all eager to help and please. We had a late dinner in their restaurant of fish and chips, the barramundi was beautiful and the salad was crisp and fresh. We only stayed one night on our way through so didn’t use any facilities like the pool etc. So we can’t say too much, but it is a good place to stop between Brisbane and Sydney.

Beautiful location, close to the beach and lovely staff/service. Car park is nice and close to the entrance, and luggage trolleys are provided. The room was simple, but clean and spacious and had a small balcony. We had a little trouble accessing our room, but staff at the front desk solved the issue swiftly. The wireless internet was suitable for our needs, although the multiple networks was a little confusing. Overall, a great place to stop for a night or two on a drive to Brisbane, I would stay again, but wouldn’t spend more than a couple nights.

This place has so much potential. Great location, good rates, rooms are at least comparable to other resorts. So how do you position yourself above others? I could state some obvious improvements in developing a Value Proposition, but I would like to suggest the management team send a request to past and current guests on what they would like to see. My wife and I came to Opal Cove in the early years and still think this place could do so much more. You have really good staff and facilities, just leverage off these key attributes and this place could be something extra special.

I feel I'm being generous with this 2. It's unfortunately a little worse for wear, the decor is lost in the 80s, the rooms are dark and lit with ghastly lighting that makes you rather sit in the dark. It needs some paint, the corridors look like a ward and trying to liven it up with a plastic plant is just laughable. The service is trying at best but you can tell they don't want to be there as much as you. The facilities are great but they are trying to do everything and instead of doing one thing well, everything is just a little sad. You know there in trouble when they want to charge you $5 for leaving your room key card in the room.

Fabulous place and facilities, spacious enough, good bar and restaurant, and great pool and beach. Spent 3 days there last week. People told me that the place was a bit run down, but it really wasn't. It's not brand new but it has a modern feel and great facilities. A really cool feature is the huge grassed play area between the pool and the beach. Perfect for the kids! Football, frisbee, and all kinds of fun :) We will go back.

Nice property in a secluded location just steps from the beach. Though you can't actually see the surf line from your room due to some trees lining the beach, you can hear the surf along with the birds chirping in the trees along the shoreline. The Lobby/reception are spacious and open with a water feature flowing from the drive level entrance to the ground level bar/restaurant area. As others have mentioned the property, including the rooms, is a bit dated and in need of a make-over. The rooms are clean and spacious as are the bathrooms. The beds need updating including switching from Queen to King w/ padded mattress tops. Then there's that peaceful, relaxing feeling you get just relaxing on the veranda listening to the surf slowly washing ashore on the sand.

This resort is very dated and needs a lot of work to bring it up to standard. A bathroom basin plug would be useful when trying to shave. The air con in the room I was given didn't work very well. The balcony had an ant infestation. The hotel restaurant closes to early in my opinion for a resort. There is nothing to do at this resort after about 9.30pm unless you want to prop up the bar of course. The staff seem friendly, they smile but they also seem to merely go through the motions. Personally I would never visit this resort again.

Booked room on line. What was offered on line was polar opposite to what we got. Claimed to be a luxury resort rooms with views etc, we ended up in a basement style room with no view. The room was very run down, in extreme need of a make over. After driving for a week and staying in many basic motels, we were looking forward to a bit of luxury but were very disappointed. It did not compare to basic motels we had stayed in with the facilities supplied. Would not recommend this dump to anyone.

Loved the fact the beach was so private. The house keeping staff were great, always happy to supply more coffee! The hotel was nice and much bigger than I'd imagined it to be. They do two yoga classes as well if Ur keen.

Lovely resort with very nice facilities and extremely helpful staff. We liked it so much we stayed coming back down the coast as well as going north. Very enjoyable restaurant and bar.

Stayed here in the four bedroom apartment over the Christmas/new year holiday. Clean big apartment. Nice pool, walking distance to beach but unfortunately cannot swim as the waves are big and there is a drop. Buffet breakfast was nice, bar had great range of drinks/cocktails. Close to restaurants, supermarkets etc. Overall a pleasant stay in Coffs harbour.

Convenient for one night stop overs while traveling through Coffs Harbour. Hotel and facilities have seen better days. Rooms are always clean and staff are helpful. Restaurant offers factory prepared commercial catering style meals and bar snacks. Cocktail menu is a little lost in the 80’s. Pool is a good size and there is a spa. Beware plastic deck boards around pool get very hot. Whole place needs some TLC.

This is a great resort for family trip. Quiet. God price. Clean. Activities and fun, and I wouldn't call it old. It is pretty ok in my room. The price they charge, it is one of the best value I ever have. It is a great place. Also the food is good and reasonable price. The pub got lot of choice but I didnt see any tap beer. The place is great.

Clean, close to beach, great facilities for kids. This isn't a 5 star resort, and they don't claim to be, so people leaving lower ratings need to realize that before they give 2 or 3 stars.

Nanny and pas 60th anniversary. Venue was lovely and staff friendly. Food was good but a bit limited. They served home style pizza and sandwiches. Pizza was good but not many and the sandwich bread was a bit tough.

This place has it all good food, nice cocktails, plenty of entertainment for kids of all ages and right on the beach. Fantastic location. Room was a good size.

Room was dated but clean and did the job. Resort was fine and offered plenty. Disappointed in customer service and communication between resort staff. My son left his toiletries bag behind. Yes our fault I know. But we were in town for another 7 hrs. When we arrived home and rang at 10.30 pm I was told house keeping do not communicate with resort staff and would have to contact them the next day. How is a multi million dollar business running where staff do not communicate. A walkie talkie call to the front desk when they find something would not be difficult. Why bother taking details if you cannot be bothered using them to contact us and let us know. Nearly two weeks later and have never heard a word. I guess just take it home or throw it out. Bugger the guests who pay up the good cash to stay there.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our Oceanside room was spacious and beautiful (especially for the price). The resort itself was gorgeously aesthetic and had amazing views. Only a minute's walk to the beach too!

I gave 1 star for one reason and one reason only. I arrived with a trailer and left without one. It was padlocked to the back of my car and I am told that according to the security footage it happened not long after I checked in which I thought was a little odd considering nothing else was broken into so it was like they knew it was there and went straight for it. The lights in the car park do not work and neither do the security cameras. The only camera that works is the one sitting on top of the building. So the only footage available was too dark to make out who was there. If you are coming with a trailer make sure you have wheel locks and remember THE CAR PARK IS NOT SAFE! I actually chose this resort over other places because I thought it would be more secure and I had some really expensive stuff stored in my car. This matter has been reported to the police so if anyone sees a similar trailer in the pic please contact the police. In saying this, the food, customer service and my room was fantastic and I would actually recommend this place in future despite the theft but certainly not if I'm towing something or check and ask if the car park lights and cameras work first!

A gorgeous resort that has stunning decor, helpful staff and tasty food. I stayed for a night after attending a beautiful wedding that was held there. The rooms are affordable, manicured and spacious. Every interaction I had with staff was an absolute delight.

Good escape from the hustle and bustle. Dine by the pool. Relaxing atmosphere. Bit outdated but still nice.

Check around before booking. Rooms really need updating. Looks impressive on the wed, not in person. Assist manager was quick to rectify issues, and was friendly!

Good option for an overnight stay. The rooms were nice (though the bath tub was a bit old and run down) and the location is great. Very good option if traveling with kids.

What I hate about Trivago and other booking sites is they allow so called resorts like this to post pics that are a blatant lie. When I booked this hotel 3 months back, the pics showed a modern a neat hotel room. What I got was a neat room from the early 80's. Why oh why do hotels like this don't step up? They think people don't read these reviews and I am over being nice, post realistic pics so I know that the $150 isn't going to get me the room I thought. I would have been better of at the Ibis in the city as it close to everything and half the price. So it's not flash but the pics are honest.

Booked in on Tuesday 14th June and was quoted $170 for an Ocean view room. Upon entering the room (218) we found that the carpet was thread bare near the balcony doors. We also saw stains on the carpet, mould on the shower screen door, lounge was very old and had no support when we sat on it. The Queen size bed was as hard as a rock when we sat on it. Just about every thing was out of the 70's. We were that disgusted that we left and went and stayed at the Novotel. When we informed the front desk that we were leaving there was no attempt to find out what was wrong at the girl just said OK no problems. Poor attitude! Please take note that your money can be better spent else where.

A Great hotel to go to in if your staying at Coffs Harbour for a holiday. The kids will play in the pool and go down the slide for hours and the Adults can relax by the pool chairs. Good Service.

The four bedroom villa was perfect for our group of 8, we checked in just after midnight and it was quick and easy so we could get straight to our room. The villa was clean and tidy with plenty of space for us all. Thank you!

Nice and relaxing place to be which is right next to the beach. Room was ok although a little stuffy smelling. Main reason to stay was the pool as it looked amazing however it definitely needs some maintainance done to it with plenty of loose pavers and paint missing but was still great to use. Would have liked to have dined in the restaurant but the absence of a child's menu (old pdf online shows they used to have one) sent us looking elswhere for dinner. Overall it was a pleasant stay with friendly and helpful staff.

Very disappointed. Dirty room, poor lighting, starting to look run down, defiantly not as nice and new as it looks in the photos on the website. Room was supposed to have a spa but instead only had a tiny bath, tiles all cracked in bathroom, paint peeling off ceiling, over priced food and not great. Couldn't say many nice things about this place.

Such friendly staff! We we're staying at a more popular resort up the road a bit and left completely disappointed, with the lack of care and service. The property may need an upgrade but it doesn't even pose a problem when you receive such amazing service. They definitely made up for our negative experience at a much higher rated resort. I'd rather stay somewhere where I feel looked after rather than worry about how terrible we were made to feel at the other location. Well done guys you should feel proud! Will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed my stay! The location was right in between all the attractions. The rooms were well sized and had a fantastic view of the beach! The service and staff was very good.

Excellent customer service. Had a technical problem with our room (bathroom and hallway flooded due to broken pipe). Staff organised technician early in the morning and brought keys for a new room directly to us (so we could move room to room rather than going to reception). Unfortunately accidents happen, but they fixed us up quickly and with a smile. We're considering coming back to coffs harbour for an extended stay next time and we'll certainly be staying here again.
