Have had no noise from other guests as yet it a old hotel could be having a make over.

Loved this place when we were there years ago Out dated and need of some room Reno’s Tv looks like from the 90, cabinet from 80’s $136 for family to have breakfast is way over priced I had to pay extra for decent coffee at bar I know it’s been a few years since we were there but price is now more than double We expect more from Rydges as we have stayed at others.

Only booked in for one night and the hotel staff failed to tell us at check in that the restaurant and bar would be closed to us due to private function. They refused to refund money for room when we then wanted to move. No customer service, rude and unprofessional. Don’t bother staying here.

Stayed here for a Conference. The staff are extremely efficient, accommodating and friendly. The rooms (and amenities within) are clean and the beds quite comfortable. The in room TVs could do with an upgrade though. The conferencing facilities and the catering was pretty good. Breakfast here was excellent.

Our room was comfortable and clean. Kids loved the pool and spa. Gym was well equipped. Friendly staff. Great location — Coles and Cafes' close by. Will definitely stay again.

I was there when it opened in the late 80’s. It was 4 to 5 stars then. It’s looking a bit tired these days. An ok deal for the price I guess, but nothing to write home about. There was a general air of being a bit over it from some staff. The pool was untidy and lacked towels. The front door didn’t work. The whole thing needs some TLC. And I suspect that needs to come from the top. Wonder if Rydges management reads their reviews? On the upside, if you’re visiting Parliament House, the location is good.

Love the large room and comfy bed. Easy access from the carpark to the room. The room I was in was not very sound proof and could hear the elevator going up and down at night. I would recommend staying here again.

I have stayed at Rydes Canberra on may occasions when competing in events around the area. The staff at reception are always welcoming and friendly. They ensure all your needs are attended to. The rooms are always well maintained and everything is in working order. The bathroom is A1 and all amenities are of high quality. The pricing is reasonable for its size and facilities.

Really enjoyed our stay at Rydges capital Hill, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very filling with a good selection. Will be staying again, in fact have just booked 2 more nights.

Our stay at Rydges hotel was wonderful. In particular, the staff were very accomodating and took the extra step to make our stay as great as possible. Alex and Neil were two staff that went above and beyond in this regard and we thank both of them for their kindness. Will definitely stay at the Rydges if we are ever back in Canberra.

Great location for those working in the parliamentary triangle. But not walking distance to the CBD. Rooms are ok but rudimentary. Showers have great pressure but wets the entire bathroom because the divider is not long enough. Friendly and helpful staff.

Our second time staying at this hotel; reception staff were polite and checked us in without fuss, however it took three hours for dental kits to be delivered to our room. Location wise close to major attractions and city, parking in underground lot is plentiful however spaces are tight. Beds are soft yet supportive, air-conditioning isn't loud, however the thermostat and on/off switch are in different places inside the room. TV is of the circa 2008 variety however this shouldn't be an issue for most travellers. Free Wi-Fi of decent speed. Breakfast buffet is standard hotel fare — eggs, bacon, snags and what have you, but of better quality. Coffee from the machine is atrocious.

Stayed here for 5 nights, it was quite nice experience. The front desk staffs are friendly with patient, housekeeping and room services is fantastic. Our room is big and comfortable, view is wonderful and great location. Love the bathroom with organic toiletries, very considerate. Breakfast was ok but if there’s a chef cooking fresh food that would be better. The only let down is carpet and furniture, way too dark and old which make the whole hotel looks less attractive. They need to be updated to give customers a good impression. Over all, my family and I had a nice pleasant stay here, recommended for family with kids.

Canberra is always interesting to visit, the road patterns seem illogical, so it is great to find somewhere so conveniently located to the major sights and a good food precinct nearby. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean, and the staff always friendly and helpful. A few more power points would be useful.

Good facilities including convenient carpark, pool, and spa. Gym was a bit dated however. Room was nice and bathroom modern. Service quality was great. Good deal for what you get. Pre booked breakfast was a refreshing change from the bad food experiences we otherwise had in Canberra and Thredbo.

A pleasant comfortable place to stay right in the centre of Canberra. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

The location of the Rydges was perfect for us. Close to main roads to get us round Canberra but not busy. Large quiet rooms. Modern bathrooms. Very nice staff. Undercover parking with lifts straight to our floor. Very clean and tidy. Comfy beds. Close to plenty of cafes and restaurants in Manuka. Definitely on our stay list for next trip to Canberra.

We arrived late and were greeted by friendly staff. The room was lovely, clean and we slept really well. Location was great — we walked about in the morning and had a nice breakfast before heading on to Sydney.

Front reception was a luck of the draw on if you got a friendly and helpful person or a rude, blunt person. We stayed with a newborn and the crib looks like it hasn't been changed in 20 years. It wasn't set up in our room even after requested and called to check 2 days prior to arrival. Then upon arrival they pulled out the folded bed and blamed us saying we requested a child. Housekeeping were excellent very experienced and was training at the time and I was impressed by his instruction and safety mind set. Staff at the cafe was excellent couldn't fault them. They went above and beyond. Breakfast was $24 for continental and parking cost $12 a day. Something to be aware about. Overall other than some bumps in the road it was a good stay.

As someone that travels to Canberra on a fortnightly basis, I always choose to stay at Rydges Capital Hill. The staff are friendly and attentive, the buffet breakfast is always consistent and well-prepared — and the fish and chips on the Room Service menu is among the best I've had anywhere (I always make sure to order at least once in every stay). What's more, as a member of the Preferred Guest Reward program, I absolutely enjoy the free room upgrades and late checkout benefits. Conveniently located in the Parliamentary Triangle (and only a short walk to the National Press Club), I heartily recommend Rydges Capital Hill to any traveller coming to Canberra, for business or pleasure.

25 years ago we had our wedding reception there. Had a nice drink and dinner. Staff were fantastic. Memories of a great day.

Clean and with good amenities. Check in team very friendly and professional. Would stay again. Great pool and sauna and there is a florist in the foyer in case you forget. Internet is free but you are charged $12 a day parking.

Very neat and comfortable hotel accommodation. The bar is a great place to catch an evening drink and quick meal at very good prices. Free Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. The staff were very helpful and polite.

10 minutes on foot there are Coles supermarkets, restaurants, also convenient, towels have not been replaced, above and the hair before people.

I went to Rydges Capital Hill restaurant, Figtree which was great. The menu selection although small was varied enough to suit the group I was with. The wine list was also decent. The restaurant felt a little cold, temperature wise but the layout and space was comfortable and welcoming. I'd go back again.

Very disappointed. Room ill equipped for 2 people twin share. No one (staff or manager) could inform me of local TV station selection on remote. Two coarse meal took 3hrs to serve, no BRANDY or DRY GINGER to be found on premises. And only day 1, got 4 more to go, can't get any worse I hope.

This is an old hotel, and does hold some charm. The carpets are hard and must be due to be replaced. The twin room is large and comfortable. Food is very good. Breakfast buffet has some choice.

Well situated and easily accessible. Shopping, bars and restaurants in the vicinity. There is a bar and a restaurant in the hotel as well as a florist. The food is good and well served. The staff is professional and helpful. Room is spacious and both the room and bathroom are well taken care of. Bed is comfortable. Carpet flooring is a bit outdated. The bar is welcoming and has a pool table. There is a gym with and a swimming pool. Different fitness machines and weights available, enough to keep you in shape. I think the accomodation and services provided as well as the location make it a good place to stay a few days in Canberra.

Wonderful clean rooms, renovated bathroom. Friendly staff and Canberra's best breakfast. Always stay here and never had a bad night.

From the time of booking the accommodation thru to check out we utterly enjoyed our experience. The staff were all attentive and helpful. The rooms were exceptionally clean. The food was perfect, fresh and good portion sizes. Buffet breakfast ticks all the box's. Lovely and warm inside. A big thank you to Sonja who took our booking and ensured the entire process was faultless. Sonja showed a high level of customer service and is a asset to the Ridges team. Thanks to all the staff that made our stay so relaxing.

Restaurant — if I could give it zero stars I would. We waited 45mins for a "medium well done" steak and butter chicken. When the food got to us our steak was rare and the butter chicken had plastic in it and the chicken was horrible. The chef was very very rude to the staff and didn't want to talk to us. We didn't eat our meals… the waitress was lovely about it and handled the situation the best she could even when the chef was rude to her.

Great room, very spacious and comfortable. Television and air conditioning is a bit old and unresponsive. Wish there were more variety to the breakfast menu. Overall I enjoyed my stay here.

Really nice hotel. Very fancy feel to it as soon as you walk into the foyer. Ate in the restaurant for dinner as well as breakfast. Food was good but breakfast buffet was smaller than other hotels although pricier. Indoor heated pool was beautiful, gym & spa also nice. Everything was clean. Really stupid shower design but otherwise I would highly recommend.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Rydges Capital Hill as part of a Treasures of Versailles package. We were very pleased with the value of the package and enjoyed our stay. It was a particularly pleasant surprise to see the size of the room provided as part of the package. Usually with these types of packages you get the basic room so we were really happy with the size of the room provided including the raised bed area and spa bathroom which was ideal for a couples getaway. If we had to be picky I really don't know why the special French inspired meal couldn't have included all three courses rather than a selection of two out of three. This seemed to be a petty when you consider the overall experience. The only other point which was a little annoying was the position of the TV in the room. It was neither directly in front of the lounge nor visible from the bed which made it a little bit awkward to view from either area. These two matters are only minor in the context of the overall stay but they did strike us as being a little odd. Staff were friendly and helpful in all areas and our stay was very enjoyable.

If you're working in the new Dept Finance building, 1 Canberra Avenue, directly across National Cct you will find the old Rydges hotel. You won't find accommodation any closer than this. The hotel has a 1980's feel. The room didn't appear to have been renovated during its longish existence.

As this was out first trip away in 18 years without our children we had a really enjoyable experience. The room (338) was nice and spacious for two people. My suggestion would be with the milks for tea and coffee is that the long life milk not be the little tubs. The reason I suggest this is that the number of milks (4) would be suitable for those tiny cups but as Rydges supply decent size coffee mugs than the milk ratio may need to be looked at. The ability to check in online was fantastic and check out was fantastic. We did have breakfast the Sunday morning and found that it was value for money however the pancakes were cold. The staff were fantastic from Checkin, breakfast and check out. This was our second stay here and is our preferred hotel when we come to Canberra.

The first time I stayed here I loved it. So I booked again for my uncles wedding. Started off with being told they moved our room from exec to embassy. I didn't mind that, but we booked a room with a balcony for a reason. We have 2 little kids and the fresh air is great with them and to air out the hotel room (as you can imagine 2 little kids for 2 nights. You need to air the room out) the room we got sent to had no balcony, it didn't even have a window you could open. Literally NO fresh air. We booked this room back in March, so 2 months prior to make sure we could book the room we wanted. The room service breakfast was really below average. Eggs were cold. Bacon was cold. Toast was burnt. It just wasn't a very great stay, and we won't be going back again. Which sucks as my first time there was great.

Large room and comfortable bed, good Wi-Fi, good environment, average food.

Since I was visiting family I only slept at the hotel therefore I did not use any of the hotel facilities other than to sleep and shower. The room was very nice, clean and well maintained. The reception staff were pleasant and efficient. My only complaint was that when I checked out I was charged a fee for using my credit card. I find this practice by any business in todays cashless environment quite offensive. I believe businesses should build all costs associated with running a business into their charges. Imagine being told a price for your accommodation then told there is a surcharge for cleaning, an additional charge to cover power, extra fee to cover staff wages and so on. All these charges are included why not card fees. It is always perceived by guests to be a method of boosting revenue. All the goodwill built up by establishment during my stay was destroyed by this one action. You ask the question below "Would I recommend this hotel" and because of the credit card fee I would not I am sorry to say.

Rooms, especially bathrooms, we're not clean. Dirt and mould around the base of all taps. Taps leaked. Minibars were not restocked every day. Carpets stained. Chipped tiles. Obvious and poor quality repairs. Grubby in-room appliances. Poor temperature control within the rooms. Good points: linen was clean, food was good and staff friendly. If we had not prepaid for the accommodation through a third party, we would have moved elsewhere.

It was a good location for what we wanted to do, not far to the NGA and Library, as well as close to Kingston and Manuka restaurants. The staff were fine. The bathroom, however, was a shocker. I've travelled a lot in Asia and India, so I know third world standards, and believe me you are struggling to meet them. The $10 shower head dripped continually, and when the water was turned on there was an extraordinary banging noise in the wall. Tiles were chipped and cracked and the grouting discoloured. The toilet bowl was stained. The beds were fine and everything worked OK.

Overall our stay at Rydges was comfortable and pleasant. The staff were willing to be helpfull and efficient. Our king/spa room, although looking a little tired and the spa not working, was adequate and pleasing. The air conditioning was appreciated as it was a very hot few days. The balcony was lovely, it would've been nice to have a couple of fold-up chairs accessible, maybe stored in the wardrobe? Our room was moderately priced and with only a little improvement could be worth its levy. However I do have one huge complaint; the expensive food in the restaurant was terrible. Both our meals were tiny and not what the menu stated. My rib eye steak for $41, was a scotch fillet, tough, thin and overcooked, upsetting when I could do so much better myself. I used a "Good Food" gift card for a portion of our meal cost and am planning on contacting them with my complaint. This experience meant we did not consider breakfast or room service; usually a lovely treat when away from home. I must say the proximity to Manuka Oval was great as our visit was mostly for Aust/India ODI.

After being stuffed around by the staff after our airconditioner in the room wasn't working, the staff were rude and not very helpful when asking for a different room. They could down grade us but not give us a refund of the difference or anything. I've been a rydges member and always stay at the rydges hotels and have previously stayed at Capitol hill before but this was the worst experience I've had so far.

We had a lovely stay at Rydges while we were visiting Canberra over the New Year. Well presented, comfy beds, friendly staff and at a reasonable cost. The pool, spa and sauna was excellent as well. The only disappointment we had is that the bar was not open for 2 of the 3 nights we were there. We would definitely stay here again.

I did an overnight stay on consecutive weekends and found different experiences each time. I have to wonder why at this Rydges the Wi-Fi password is not automatically given, when others I have been to offer is asap. (I'm a PriorityGuest member and choose Rydges first unless unavailable)

The hotel is nice and good space. It does have a little bit of an old feel. Dinner was sensational and the staff are very friendly.

Great place to stay Just a quick stroll to the cafes of Manuka. Book an inward facing room and watch the inner ceiling change colour at night. Only down side is the buffet breakfast is a bit limited sometimes.

Went there for a conference. Staff are friendly, plenty of parking available, facilities are nice enough. Bar and hot snacks are expensive but are still at about the expected hotel price.

We stayed in a king spa suite. The room was lovely and good sized. There was mildew on the bathroom ceiling though and the shower wasn't great. Lovely staff though and the food was good.

This was our 2nd stay at Capital Hill booked Embassy suite as it was our Daughters B'day. Very disappointed in room an extreme waste of space poorly laid out and could use a revamp looking worn. It would have been nice to have a small dining table & chairs it certainly had space for one however we crowed around the coffee table for out room sevice meal (great pizzas & fish n chips). Breakfast 1st morning was terrific home made hash browns delicious. 2ND night we had dinner in Figtree Restaurant Baby Squid entrée highly recommend scotch fillet from main was cooked well however, meat quality let it down. Dessert menu was extremely ordinary with only 3 choices one being cheese. Chose to go back to room & order the awesome Walnut & Maple ice cream we had the previous night only to be phoned 10mins after placing order to be told there was none only chocolate not even vanilla : — (. 2nd morning breakfast definitely a chef change what a let down from the previous day. Scrambled eggs 1/2 cooked floating in raw uncooked liquid "ineatable" happy to make an omelette way too heavy handed with ham and cheese the bacon was fried then appeared to have been steamed /stewed it was falling apart trying to get it out of the serving dish &it was so salty was uneatable. We would stay again as love their dream beds, staff are very helpful and pleasant but would not waste extra money on Embassy Suite & think twice about Sunday morning breakfast.

It was no where near as nice as the pictures or what was promised in the description. We were offered a free upgrade and then refused when we accepted the offer, the room had dirty sink, mould in shower, broken cabinet door, cracked grouting, faulty hair dryer, poo in the toilet and dirty mugs. I believe I was overcharged as I read the terms and conditions and was given a different explanation as to why my children were charged for even though I did not ask for extra beds, as they were in the room already and extra bedding was provided as standard for free in every room.

This is our second stay and we had another wonderful stay, everything from the greeting housekeeping standards, bar service especially the lovely and friendly Hannah who makes you feel right at home and welcomed. We spoilt ourselves again and stayed in one of the larger rooms well worth it if the budget can be stretched a little, you'll love it too. Breakfast service is very good with a variety of options for all tastes as is the evening menu, once again friendly and efficient staff. Lots to see in and around Canberra to keep you busy Do all the tourist things enjoy many large shopping centers or just relax at Rydges, we will be back again later in this year, already looking forward to it.

The staff and facilities were great. Only problem I had was after driving 5 hours my kids were tired and wanted to rest but had to wait over an hour for our room to be ready. And seems it wasn't just us most people were being told the same thing despite it being past 2pm.

We really enjoyed our stay in Canberra Rydges Capital hill. The staff were attentive however very busy. Our room was well presented and serviced each day, however we had an adjoining room door which was locked but meant that we could here the gentleman next door quite clearly coughing a lot during the night. That being said the rest of the experience was great.

Breakfast is excellent. Location is good as you can walk to manuka shops. Free Wi-Fi. Embassy suite decor is a bit old but clean and comfortable.

Staff were attentive and couldn't do more to make our anniversary night extra special. Dinner in the restaurant was incredible and Breakfast next morning had a heap of variety and food was cooked amazingly. Thanks to all involved.

Everything great, not a big fan of showers over baths.

We only had a single night there however would have loved to stay longer. Everything was in top order, very clean and tidy.

Rooms big, service good. Bathrooms are straight out of 1974.

Room is getting tired and needs a reno. Bed was a little soft for me but comfortable otherwise. Bathroom is very dated and had mold. Very poor for this style of hotel. Breakfast was good. Garden trees in the middle are nice to sit in etc.
