babushka Grand HOSTEL Hostel

This is a place that you either adore or just don't get. It is advertised as an aristocratic place. Well that may be pushing it a tad. But the place has tall ceilings, chandelier and well that is pretty much it. BUT the epicenter is the living room, where many good times have been had. You will likely feel very welcome and take part in some social life. Or just retreat to your room. The place was clean as very clean and staff was really really great. Laundry service was second to none. Hope to be able to come back again soon.

Luv is the best Babushka ever and she looked after me even after I was attacked by a taxi driver. I would only go to this hostel in Odessa. It will be sorely missed until I return.

We were staying in one of the private rooms that hostel offers over the past weekend. For the price of around $28 you get a huge room with an unforgettable design and atmosphere, incredible Odesa hospitality, location is in a 5-minute walk from Privoz market where for a very spare price you can get pretty much whatever delicacy you want, and around 15-20 minute walk to the heart of Odessa — Deribasivska street.
The staff is very nice and respectful, babushka speaks English and is ready to help at any time, at the same time they also do a really nice job managing their guests to behave respectfully to each other.
Definitely a great choice for staying in Odessa!

Nice and beautiful hostel in an old appartement. Close to the train station and the city center.

The hostel its self is clean, and above average. What make the hostel excellent is how friendly and cheerful the old Ukrainian couple that run it are. You really feel like your staying with relatives, she just made me food a few time. She will just talk Russian at you, and throw in hand motions and the occasional English word and gets her point across whether she is telling you directions, or how to use their very confusing Russian microwave.

It's a very nice, family like hostel that gives you the feeling of real Odessa apartment. The owner — Babushka — is very nice. She speaks Russian to you, so if you'd better understand it even if you don't know it.

Staying at "The Babushka" was undoubtedly one of the most interesting hostel experiences in my life. This hostel is unique thanks to it's lovely owner "Luda". During my short 2 days stay there, I felt like I was living in my relatives house in Odessa, very warm and relaxed atmosphere, Luda does everything to make you to feel like home. The hostel located close to the railway station, building is old, but interior of the hostel is clean and in good condition. Rooms and beds are comfortable, I've stayed in 4 bed dorm, the distance between the beds are good, the room was big. The kitchen doesn't have a door, but facilities are good, also one of the best cafes of Odessa "Kampot" is 2 min far away by walk. I love unique places with sincere and relaxed atmosphere, also I am sensitive in cleaning, at the end of my stay in the Babushka, I was %100 satisfied and enjoyed every moment of my stay.

One of the most beautiful hostels in Odessa.

Amazing hostel, feels like being part of the family, been there 4-5 times already and coming back again.

It's not the first time that I stay in this hostel, I like Odessa and this hostel is a good place to sleep, it have a Good location, Good beds, Cool staff and Good Price, what else? a coffee with G. Clooney? no, not for me thanks.

I came here once, then twice, and unexpectedly—I fell in love with the place.

Two days ago (October 3, 2012) I arrived in Odessa from a long train ride from Crimea. I was very tired and worried about accommodations, but as soon as I entered the Babushka Grand hostel I was greeted by friendly faces and a warm bed. The decor was immaculate and I felt like I was in a castle. I highly recommend this hostel to any travellers coming to Odessa. Service is very good, the rooms very clean, the rates are very reasonable and its location is very close to the central train station.

The awesome place I have ever been in the half of my life) ) ) I felt like home there.
