We have been owners here for more than 10yrs, still a good resort however the quality of service has declined in recent years. If you contact the management they will work to make it right, however the cleanliness of the rooms and linens should be better. The sheets/towels smelled as though they had been left wet when folded, very musty… this happened 3 times on our recent trip. We stayed for 12 days, leaving on Aug 3, 2018. Still can’t beat the views of the bay though.

Exceptional service. Friendly staff. Clean amenities. Great gym. And decent food. Overpriced but it's an island with minimal resources so it makes sense.

Wonderful place with a great staff. We came after the hurricane and currently are still here. My family, including 2 kids (6&3), are having a great time. Villas are spacious, well decorated, and have marvelous views.

Spent our 10th Anniversary at French and Reef. Beautiful place. Wonderful week there. Sorry to hear of the damages. Sure you will come back as beautiful as ever. Was on a cruise ship to St Thomas in Feb 2017. Loved cruising by and remembering fun times.

Post irma and maria closed. The Reef and Morningstar are CLOSED. There is no real plan for a reopening. No work has been done to refurbish either as of 1 May 2018. Closed. Only Marriott open on St. Thomas is the Marriott Vacation Club Frenchmans Cove.

It is actually 4 1/2 stars. This is a really nice hotel. It is fairly expensive, but come on it is St. Thomas. Something happened with my room and I was upgraded to a beachfront room on the spot, no negotiating, no complaints or excuses from the staff. Very clean comfortable rooms. I almost never eat at resort restaurants, because they are generally just price gouging tourist traps. I actually found a resort restaurant not too far from my hotel room (we are talking maybe a hundred feet) right on the beach that was not only reasonably priced but was very good.

Very nice and effective and professional staff the uesped can see that a Marriott employee is like a member of Suss families take care of them help put everything on their side to make it feel like at home Marriott employees are a single family so thank you and Congratulations.

Wedding destination my daughter got married here, we had a great time love the place, don't go into town at night and keep all your valuables close to you nothing to do with the hotel but when we left they steal stuff out of your luggage at the airport.

Worst Marriott I have ever stayed at. Had to leave after one night in a moldy room with peeling paint and the worst service I have ever experienced.

I stayed here and the room was nice and clean, with a beautiful ocean view, and nice little porch. The property was very nice. You do have to walk down quite a few stairs to go down to the beach, but it's a nice beach. I preferred eating at The Sandbar at Havana Blue. There are some watersports you can rent equipment for, too. After moving to the island, I returned to this beach and I rented a paddleboard here, which was nice. Overall, the stay here was great. The only slight issue I had was trying to check-in when I arrived, but everything was smooth after that was taken care of.

We spent a week there, and whole staff was so friendly! Rooms were beautiful and food was excellent!

The resort and the employees were very attentive! It was a great stay. Prices. Well it's a resort. But the food was good! And btw thanks to Sedone and Antoinette at Front Desk! Very friendly and helpful with us! We are Marriott! Haha.

My family has their wedding here and it's a beautiful resort but far from my expectations. First we get there and can't check in until 4. Okay that's fine but I get to the room and it's dirty. Like a guest had just checked out. Also it was a single bed when I booked double beds. They then apologized and have me another room but was unable to honor the double bed until the next day. I was okay with that until I get to the room and it smells like sewage. The hotel still couldn't change my room until the next day. So I had no choice but to stay in the smelly single bed room. They did change the room as promised however I didn't get the right room until after 4 the next day. I chose to make the best of the trip. We were out and came back hungry. There was no way to get anything to eat. Now I have been to all inclusive resorts and there was always some way to eat. No we had to wait until morning because we was told that the restaurant closed at 11. This was not an pleasant experience for my first time in St. Thomas. Signed Super Disappointed.

Love this place. Beautiful views. Great service and friendly, helpful staff. Many places to relax. Breakfast buffet had a great variety of food choices. Spacious, comfortable rooms. Can't wait to return.

It's been 4 years since we've visited this beautiful place. I can remember it like it was yesterday. The view overlooking the cliffs were gorgeous, drinks were great and the service was wonderful. The resort was very beautiful and you can frequently see people getting married there. While some of the best beaches are further away, there are plenty of great restaurants near by.

Best vacation getaway ever! My husband and I was there for 5 days in July. All of the wait staff were phenomenal. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. No complaints on my end. The food wasn't bad either! Would definitely visit again.

Very nice beach but lots of seaweed. Property was well maintained and clean but is in serious need of an update/remodel. Pools were full of little kids so if you are looking for a quiet adult vacation this is not the place. There is a small adult only pool. The main 2 pools were closed for a private function where we were kicked out mid afternoon one day… not very good hospitality and a disappointing experience. We sure weren't going to let that ruin our beautiful vacation. The staff is very friendly and warm, especially Yolanda in the Rum Bar!

I stayed at Frenchman's Reef for five days and was pleased with everything from my arrival to my departure. Complementary rum punch was provided in n the lobby during check in. My room was clean and comfortable. The a. C. Was out when I arrived however, a message was waiting on the phone with that information and another message was left as soon as the repair was made. I received customer service with a smile but I believe you get what you give. The night kayak was fun right from the hotel and a private island tour with a taxi driver was only $50. I can't think if one negative experience during my stay and I would definitely return in the future.

My first experience with this resort was a pushy salesman trying to get me to buy one of their Marriot Condos. Things didn't really improve from there. — The rooms at the Morning Star don't block sound at all — several of us had noisy neighbors we had to deal with the entire time. — Some of the waitresses at Coco Joes were rude and impatient when my family was trying to order breakfast. — The "adventures" are extremely overpriced for what you get — we did the Night Kayaking, at almost $50 a person, we were expecting a small-ish group; instead what we got was a uncoordinated mass of kayaks all trying to look at one turtle. — There was a lack of parking, and the above ground lots required you to walk in the traffic in order to get back and forth. — Lots of exposed electrical wiring throughout premises. — Our keycards frequently didn't work, and the front desk staff kept blaming us for the problems and giving us a hard time about it. — A falling palm tree fell and slammed down literally two feet from my brother's fiance's grandmother. — My brother cut his foot on the walkway and the hotel staff didn't seem to think it was a problem. Most of them didn't even know where the first aid kits were. I recommend finding a VRBO or similar instead of staying at this overpriced "resort".

The resort is big. Maybe too big. I'm not a big fan of resorts that need a shuttle to get from one end to the other. It's also has very expensive drinks. 12 dollar mojitos and 5 to 8 dollar beers. Our room also had a musty smell. The best part about the resort was the awesome views. If you stay here, I recommend going into town and buying a bottle of liquor. We got a liter of rum for 13 bucks.

My girlfriend and I booked a one week getaway here at the Frenchman's Reef for our anniversary and had a wonderful week! My experience trying to contact the staff to set up our anniversary activities was sort of a pain. I live on the west coast and it seemed that by noon EST the guest services desk was unreachable. That being said our experience once arriving was very nice. As far as the tours that are offered, I would recommend booking through the resort, but for an outside charter. We went on an all day sailing tour that left from sapphire beach and it was the highlight of our trip. The tours that leave from the hotel dock are full of risk averse older people and children. If you are a seasoned traveler I recommend indicating that to the desk. As far as the food options my recommendations are the same. Getting just off the property, even to the morning star resort will deliver a much better quality of food, but for extra credit leave the area entirely and see some of the local restaurants. My favorite on the island is the Old Stone Farmhouse on the north side of the island, where I had the best scallops that have ever come across my plate. All in all a nice hotel on an absolutely amazing island. I would recommend a stay at the frenchmans reef, but more forcefully implore that you visit the islands! Enjoy!

Hotel was nice and clean. Restaurant workers seemed like they don't like to work but manager and cook we're very polite. Food was great but I would consider eating outside the hotel. Overall great hotel would definitely come back.

Stayed here 5/21/16 and can't say enough about the customer service that we found here. Edward who must be an front end manager was so incredibly nice and kind to us as was the rest of the staff. Hard to find places such as this that customer service is still put first. Would suggest this to anyone that is considering St Johns. Had a great time snorkeling for free and a few beers after a long week in St Johns. Thanks Edward for showing us how there is still customer service around still.

If your looking for a clean safe place to stay… do NOT stay here. Luckily I was only there for one night before heading back home. — Hairs all over the bed, bathroom and pillows — stale smells that filled the room — dead bugs and hairs (like they do not vacuum) all around the bed — went to grab a quick bite to eat at the Marriott Restaurant option — literally a spider slid into my drinking glass from the pitcher — the staff was dismissive and slow — food was pretty terrible and overpriced. I travel for my job almost 100% so I have endured some interesting lodging situations. By far this was the worst I have ever experienced!

We loved our vacation at Frenchman's reef. We cannot wait to go back. I would advise to make sure you ask for a balcony when you make your reservation. Our first room didn't have one, luckily we were able to move on our 2nd day. I would have taken another boat trip to Island, we went to St. John's one day. I would recommend the sunset cruise, with dinner included it's a bargain. Next time we go I want to go for an entire week.

Horrible! I would give it 0 stars but thats not an option. Unfortunately I still have to stay here for the next 4 nights. We booked through expedia and were expecting all inclusive as was stated on every page of booking but when we finally get here nobody can help and nobody seems to care. We paid more than the going rate and thought we were going to have drinks and food included and we ended up spending the first 3 hours of our vacation trying to get help in the lobby. Hate it and Expedia is a scam!

This was such a fabulous beautiful resort. Our room was super modern and luxurious feeling. The staff are friendly and keep everything perfectly clean. The reviews making the rooms sound old and crappy, I don't understand where these people went. Some other hotel I guess. I take one star away bc our room was in the first floor which possibly accounted for the damp condition in the room. Our bathing suits and towels did not dry no matter how long they were left hanging. Food is expensive all over the resort of course, but totally delicious. Blue Havana very pricy but some of the best food of my life. The filet tacos were incredible. Also one activity I highly recommend is The Cat. You sail out to buck island and snorkel amongst seat turtles and other exotic tropical fish/ reef animals. By far the best vacation I've ever had!

This was the best vacation i've ever had. It is so beautiful it is unreal. It was the most fun ive had in years. So worth it!

Morning star is very good vacation place during winter. I have been there 3 times for Christmas holiday. The room faces to beach. When you are sitting the balcony, you could enjoy sunset and sunrise. They could provide good and fast room service if you need them any time. CoCo Joes restaurant is my favorite. But the hotel customer service is not nice and does not have a patient. They could not answer some questions.

Very nice accommodations. Comfy bed, clean room. About 10 minute drive to downtown (if there's not bad traffic). Very helpful and friendly staff. Had to go to the front desk 2 days in a row because of unauthorized $117 charges (both days) on my card. But staff was awesome. They addressed the issue and the money was returned to my account the next day.

If you enjoy awful service and disgusting expensive food, you will love this place! They also offer $45 a day "resort fees" for giving you water bottles and internet (which they do not tell you about until checkout). By far the worst customer experience I have ever encountered. We stayed here for 1 week and everyday was an embarrassment to the hospitality industry. We will not be returning to the Marriott ever again.

The resort was awesome and exactly what I have come to expect from Marriott. The staff was very friendly and helpful all week. I was part of a big wedding party, so we were always asking for help and information on things around the island to do. The pools were great and they have happy hour at one of their multiple bars throughout the day. I would recommend staying here if you go to St Thomas.

As self-described a "hotel snob, " I was hoping to make Dad's bucket list trip of the 5 of us to enter and depart the virgin islands via the Ritz Carlton. I'm so glad we chose the Marriott instead for our 10 day adventure. We arrived with tons of bags, special requests, and we were all seeking to escape our long work days. The team, including a few rock stars I can remember, Margaret, Leah, Tony, (forgetting the chef's name we met) and a number of the wait staff proved that this resort is helpful and friendly. We stayed two days on the front end of our trip, went sailing for 7 days, then returned for a night before our flight. Many of the staff recognized us and truly welcomed us back. High points include the beach and the breakfast buffet (Antoinette was sweet and funny), and the rooms were well remodeled. I highly recommend this Marriott (because I don't recommend many) and look forward to coming back. Big thanks to the whole team! Landon San Diego, CA.

Made the reservation thinking we would be staying at the Frenchman's Reef. To my surprise, we were put at the Morning Star. These buildings are down the road. They did not tell us there were only stairs in these buildings. We were on the third floor so this was a problem. They are outdated motels! Would not stay here again.

The room was OK except the shower floor was built in a manner that allowed water to flow freely onto the bathroom floor making it a hazard to walk on. Poor service after the fact in their billing department. I was told my credit card was only for incidentals but my card got charged the full amount.

Great hotel enjoyed the views and amenities. Although I was billed incorrectly, Vonnie was very patient and kind while the errors were corrected for me.

Came to St Thomas USVI for a wedding event. Our hotel has an Amazing View our balcony faces the main port of the Island however the Hotel is twenty minutes away from downtown if you planning to go out of the Hotel and eat you have get a taxi is twenty five dollars for a taxi ride to downtown! Ouch that's kind price if you planning to at the Hotel make sure to save up. Dinining in the hotel the dishes are over prize $$$. Overall St Thomas is an Amazing Island.

We stayed at this hotel from 6/19 — 6/22. The second night we were there we got a call on our hotel room phone from a woman who stayed in our room and checked out on Sunday 6/15. She said she was bitten by bed bugs while staying in our room. We had already been there for one night and had no problem. She told us she told management and we figured they took care of it. Well they didn't. The CDC website said bed bug bites could take up to two weeks to show up and on Tuesday when we got back I was covered in them. The hospital bills were minimal and I missed two days of work. Here is the problem. Marriott knew about this and let us stay in the room. Then when we filed complaints they asked us what we thought they should do to make it right. We said we want our money back and credit for a new vacation. We get one vacation a year and they ruined it with something so simple. They knew there was a problem. Put us in a different room. They decided the best way to handle this was to ignore us from this point on. Reginald Weeks is the man who was handling our situation from Marriott Corporate. What a joke this guy is. There are way better options in St. Thomas. Don't stay at this filthy dump.

Um. There really isn't any words to describe the service here at the Marriott Reef. There's bad, then there is this. We are literally still here at the hotel considering whether to change hotels or just rough it here with the totally incompetent staff. Everyone is nice, but its so bad that even the local taxi drivers tell you to eat offsite because its take 1 hour for a set of chicken fingers for the kids, don't even worry about the adults, we'll just starve. Ultimately is pretty sad to pay all this money to get down to this beautiful island with all this amazing potential to be a great trip and just get disappointed at every meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The tension is so thick with the other guests that you can literally cut it with a knife. Hopefully it will be clean knife because they only give you 1 napkin for the whole table. No joke, but I know it sounds funny. So so sad, really no words. This place is doomed to fail, mark my words. I don't know if its fixable because I feel like its so obvious that better management is needed that how has anyone not sent someone down here yet to fix this mess. If anyone is listening from corporate. Please help.
