Lovely home cooked food, hot & tasty. The staff are really friendly, nothing is any trouble for them. As for being covid secure, we couldn't fault the place, we felt very safe in the knowledge that the owners were doing everything in their power to keep patrons safe. We will definitely be back.

We ate here on Saturday, great steak and ale pie, extra gravy was no problem. Lovely cosy atmosphere, a lot of laughs with Jo and Paul. Keep going guys it’s great to have food at our local!

Our second visit for food, can defo recommend steak pie, gammon and, the battered fish last night was so good and crispy no soggy batter. Good service good prices great food and fab atmosphere, thanks Paul Jo & team see you soon.

Had Sunday lunch with Grandson good quality of food and menu.
And good value.
Only criticism service tad slow.

Went here as on the canal, unfortunately their kitchen wasn’t up and running for serving food but the kind owners/staff told us how to get to the chippy nearby and allowed us to eat in their beer garden whilst enjoying a pint or 2. Thank you.

Good value, pleasant staff, plenty of space, good food, just slightly grubby.

Not a very warm welcome as we entered The White Lion around 5.30 on a Wednesday evening. "Do you do food? " I asked, even though the big sign outside said FINE FOOD at the top. "No" was the barked answer from the man behind the bar. After a few seconds of silence passed between us, assessing what we would do next, he added "Not for another hour. " And he continued to frown. We decided to leave and walked a bit further to the White Bear where they had friendly staff and lovely food.

Friendly and hospitable with wholesome food and potable beer. Convenient for nearby Kildwick stop on Leeds/Liverpool canal.

Going back in a few days to sample the lovely looking food. Just went for drink today while barging. Was a great atmosphere.

Very nice pubs with nice lunch selections. They have several beers on tap and also serve wine and mixed drinks. To find the pub from the canal, follow the narrow road from the swing bridge down hill past the school to the church on the right and look left.

Authenticate pub, friendly staff, traditional but fresh and piping hot food. Great place to spend an evening.

It was quiet, but only 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. Nevertheless the food was lovely and well presented and good value.

Very busy, but the staff still had time to be friendly. Good enough to attract the locals as well as the holidaymakers from the nearby canal.

It was lovely I liked the bit with the lion and the white part was just an added extra, give me penny's now please Google.

Good staff, nice atmosphere, quite expensive but a good choice of beers and cocktails.

Great steaks to night really ènjoyed the white lion Kildwick and 2 steakfor under £20 good value will be back for more.

Popped in for lunch. Very disappointed. Husbands sandwich had 2 pieces of string in it and sisters salad was full of grit. Def won't go back there.

Stopped here for a bite to eat, on a Sunday lunchtime. Traditional old pub, across the road from the church. We had a sandwich each, which includes a small salad and some chips. Sandwiches were ~£6 each, I think. Sandwiches were fine, service good. There was also a Sunday roast on, but we weren't so hungry. There were also a couple of cask beers available. Would do the same again, if we were there.

What a fantastic pub! Really good food. They themed food night's. Sunday roast is truly brilliant and very tasty. Sell good local beer. I've never stayed but heard is very nice. The staff are very warm and friendly. Lovely large beer garden. It's in the village of Kildwick on the edge of skipton. Very nice countryside and nice local walks. A nice river or canal walk or for the more energetic a short walk up to the Millenum dome that over looks the Aire Valley. A well worth visit!

Stopped there for lunch with my parents. Food was very tasty. Better than reviews I had seen online. Portions were large. Staff were excellent. I would definitely go back.

Nipped in for a pint after a walk. Beautiful pub and beer garden. Got first two pints of a barrel that were awful. I've not marked them down as we were pushed for time and didn't give them the opportunity to replace them. Seemed the sort of place and people that would. We'll probably go again there is lots of good walks around there.

Friendly staff who are knowledgeable about their beers. Nice beer garden. Quiet and secluded considering proximity to a busy road.

Visited for drinks and a bite of lunch. The cheese pie was really tasty and although it took a while to arrive, you can't rush good food!

Had Mothers Day lunch today. Atmosphere was good. Shame about the food and service.

Went for Sunday lunch, four of us. The roast beef and vegetables were excellent and provided good value. The chips however were poor quality frozen chips which spoiled an otherwise pleasant experience.

Sums up my issues with Camra really. Yes a pub that sells good beers is great but… if the food and service are poor that pub should not be praised based on beer choice alone. It gives the wrong impression of what is commonly a grotty drinking hole. The property is average, trying to look cosy and period but failing. The service is dull or loud and shouty. The food is usual pub favorites but a bit off. Eg the Chicken and Mushroom pie was clearly cooked by frying the chicken till burnt in a pan resulting in dry chicken with a hint of coal. And the lasagna was dry and served with 8 dry mini loaves described as garlic bread. Not terrible but the kind of food a drunk student creates. The beers on offer are great and the beer garden is sunny with views across the valley/car park. If you want cheap slop with a good pint. Head on in. If you are happy paying £15 upwards for local produce, chef prepared cuisine. Maybe just the pint.
