Sycamore b/b york. My wife and I had 2 nights at this b/b15/16 sept 2017 we had the small room top of the house, it was a bit creaky but who cares we had two nights excellent sleep. Then up in the morning for a fantastic breakfast, and the loverly couple you were so cheerfull all the time, and that makes the stay even better. We will be back linda/graham messam south wales.

Family run guest house, very nice owners, nice breakfast, clean, need some maintenance however nothing serious, smaller rooms, electric showers, parking £2 per day in front of the house. Very close to city centre — 5 mins walk. We were very happy.

Located 5 m from the Museum gardens.

The rooms are clean and comfortable but not at all soundproof. We had a small room with an outdoor (but private) bathroom, which was very small. My companion and I are quite small stencils but a person of large size or strong stature will have difficulty in sticking to it.
The breakfast is excellent and hearty.

We liked the location (10 min walk from the city center), the welcome of the guests, the comfort of the bed, the cleanliness of the places and the very good breakfast. We did not like the noise of the adjoining rooms and the cramped bathroom. This hotel is still a good value for money.

A small cozy guesthouse. The family running the guesthouse is nice and friendly. The place is located a few minutes walk from the station and city centre, but at a corner which is quite for a nice rest.

Hot headed old man who thrives of upsetting his customers by insulting there intelligence and has a cockroach infestation ding ding ding ding ding ding " WHO YOU GONNA CALL COCKROACHERS"

The service provided was very good, the owners are very friendly, the breakfast (included in cost) was loverly. We were on the top floor in the only room that had no on suite bathroom so the price was reduced for this reason, the rooms are addiquite for sleeping in but you've not got room to relax in them as no chairs to sit and relax. The radiators kept vibrating at night which kept you up at night and due to being on the top floor it was very warm so it meant that had to have the window wide open but due to sleeping directly underneath the velux window if it rained at night you would get wet. But other than that the stay was very good.

My husband took ill as we were taking our leave and our hosts at the Sycamore could not have been more kind or helpful. The house itself is very charming, clean, and convenient, but what really stuck out where the lengths these people went to to make our emergency less of an emergency. While I was at the hospital seeing to my husband, they provided our 21 and 18 year old with help packing, gave them money and sightseeing advice (since they were having to wait), called around to the train station to see if we could change our tickets, called around to see who might board us if we needed to stay in town for additional time (the Sycamore was booked) ; in short, I could not have asked more from friends. I would strongly recommend this B and B for the kindness of its hosts. And the house itself is a cut above most B and B establishments; we stayed in 10 other recommended houses this trip alone.

The Sycamore is a charming, homely guest house with very friendly hosts and above all a fantastic location. Its located on a quiet cul-de-sac and our room overlooked a bowling green — a nice peaceful setting after a long day of tourist attractions. We found the short distance from the city centre (about 10mins scenic walk) ideal. On arrival we instantly felt relaxed thanks to the warm welcome from our host Elizabeth who was very helpful and gave us plenty of useful information — from worthwhile city attractions and walking tours to directions to Castle Howard for our excursion out of York. Our room was comfortable, very clean and well kept with beautiful bed linen. Most importantly for us, it offered an undisturbed, quiet night's sleep. The breakfast was delicious, fresh and thankfully not greasy like other fry-ups we've had in B&B's previously. They also provide a cold breakfast of fruit, yoghurt, cereal and the like. We'd love to return to York and when we do this will be the guest house of choice once again! Emma Robson, Norwich.
