Myself and my Husband got married here on the 19/12/2021. To say it was an amazing occasion is an understatement. Nothing was too much trouble for Tracey, Kieth and the team and right from the planning stages they made us feel completely at ease and made an exciting but often stressful time feel effortless. On the day itself our guests were treat like royalty and were clearly under the impression we had spent tens of thousands on the big day due to the presentation of the venue and the attentive staff when the reality was much less with the reasonable packages they offer. IWe even had a number of guests recommending the venue to their family and friends who were planning on getting married and also had guests who said they want to stay at The Feathers again at the earliest opportunity. As for us as a couple we will always hold the Feathers close to our hearts (as we also did before our wedding) and will never forget the way we were made to feel by the staff on our special day and the attention to detail which made our day unforgettable. There is nothing we could do to repay the hospitality shown to both us and our guests but we will definitely be back to stay at the Feathers on our anniversary each year and also hopefully in the summer months when the area is beautiful 👰🤵‍♂️❤️

Just had the best meal we’ve had for ages. The service and the quality of the food were outstanding! I wish the company would open a place in Cheshire! Nothing in my area to match the quality we’ve had tonight.

Fabulous place always made to feel welcome The extra little treats in the rooms even the doggy packs are very thoughtful. All the staff can’t do enough for you the food and service gets better each time we go Must disagree with comments on Cashless payments this makes the whole stay easier just one transaction when you leave. We came away feeling very relaxed can’t wait to return Thankyou.

Loved our stay at this place. Great hotel/bar, great service, fantastic food and added bonus of cashless payments make a hassle free weekend. Friendly staff who made you feel at home, will come back and recommend friends to visit. Gem of a place.

The food is fantastic, very high quality, the staff are very friendly. In fact we have booked a table for Sunday evening, our 3rd visit in 7 days. If you are visiting Helmsley highly recommend having a meal.

First time today for lunch and boy was it good. The food was so tasty. Had the beef with Yorkies which was perfectly cooked. My first, but certainly not my last time.

Honestly home from home. Every now and again we try to stay somewhere else but The Feathers is unbeatable. So personalised. So thoughtful. Amazing food, drink and service. Incredible rooms with a real attention to detail and personal touches. Yet again we have stayed and were very sad to leave. Thank you once again to Keith and Tracey. We love you xxx.

Had another lovely stay at the Feathers… its been to long! Professional, motivated staff… couldn't do enough for you, and so polite. The room we had was fabulous, over looking the square. The ambuance, lights and the whole Christmas theme was amazing Thank you see you soon.

Fantastic food. Great measures in place for safe eating and drinking. Special deal on the before second lockdown was a nice surprise. Was recommended to go here from National Bird of Prey Centre and very glad we did. We will be back as soon as we are allowed. Take care everyone.

Lovely hotel, fabulous staff, especially Mary, Tracy, Keith, great food, very comfortable rooms, stayed a dozen or more times, Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Helmsley.

Wonderful break. Very Covid safe. All extra precautions put in place. Staff couldn't do enough for us even though they were having to do so much more work with table service etc. Breakfast and evening meal were lovely. Rooms very clean. A little gem. Thanks again.

We had our wedding party at The Feathers yesterday. What a day we had! The staff were amazing, especially Tracey, Keith and Adam, for going out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for us. The staff here couldn't do enough for you, and are so efficient. The rooms are spotlessly clean and so comfy, and the food is exceptional. Can't recommend it highly enough! Thank you all so much for making our day so wonderful.

Very rude abrupt customer service from the barman, after calling in for a coffee after a long dog walk today. Waited nearly half an hour for a coffee and then when I asked for my money back. I was told ‘it wasn’t his problem’ and ‘he didn’t care’ Great to know they have such polite & courteous staff serving the general public! First and last time I’ll be setting foot inside. Appalling.

Stopped off for an early tea tonight and it didn't disappoint. The food was excellent and the staff were very welcoming. Lovely dining area with a nice relaxing atmosphere.

Very good Tetleys cask conditioned beer and a superb dinner menu reasonably priced and full of delicious tasting (well we just tasted one shared platter and two main dishes) dishes. Very attentive and excellent service too. Will definitely be back to drink there and eat again!

Highly recommend this beautiful, quaint hotel in the heart of Yorkshire. The most friendly, polite and accommodating staff, who went our their way to help our friend who was struggling for a room and let her stay in ours, putting a sofa bed in there. The food was so delicious, a vast menu with good choice and all fresh home cooked meals with good portion sizes. Bedrooms very clean and spacious, comfy beds, providing plenty of shampoo, shower gel, soaps, tea coffee and biscuits etc.
They even arranged a taxi for us very promptly when the other firms we rang told us an hour wait. Would definitely recommend to stay here we had a wonderful time.

Thank you to the lovely lady today that helped me get my spooked pooch to a quiet spot, very much appreciated. Absolutely lovely pub and staff, now home but looking at coming and staying with you.

Stopped off to have a bite to eat in Helmsley, after being sent away from the Royal Oak by the rudest barmaid ever, We found the lovely feathers. Staff were lovely and polite and couldn't do enough for us. Food was just lovely feel full and ready to continue our journey. Place was clean and loved the decor.

Decided to have lunch here after loving our experience at their sister hotel/restaurant in Thirsk. Definitely disappointed with the service, told the afternoon teas were not available to order even though the menus are on every table, length of to to receive our order was very lengthy! Voiced our views to the waitress who apologised but seem to do nothing to pass this on. Disappointing!

Came for a meal during a family reunion: one member has quite numerous and strict food allergies, and was fully anticipating not being able to have dinner. Judging by her reaction, the chef was happy to make far more accommodations than she was expecting — and that made the occasion even better. Many thanks indeed to him and to Jim!

We were certainly a bit 'hangry' when we walked through the door and the staff took it in their stride. After a walk around Helmsley and it's natty little boutiques it was high time we had a delicious sandwich in a relaxing courtyard — The Feathers delivered! The staff were lovely and professional and were dressed so smart that my Aunt even made a comment on it. The food is priced on the higher side, though deservedly so given the variety of fresh ingredients and the quality environment. Would recommend!

The staff are this hotels greatest asset. So friendly and helpful, they make you believe they will do anything for you! Tracy and Jim on reception started our break perfectly, thank you. The beds are divinely comfortable, the rooms clean and quirky. We stayed in room 30 which is in an external annexe which we liked, was very quiet.

I always have lunch at The Feathers when I visit Helmsley. Great choice of dishes, beautifully presented and cooked. The Steak & Ale pie was delicious and I recommend the Grazing and Sharing the honey and mustard sausages fabulous. Great selection of beers and wines and the service Exceptional cannot fault this place. Always recommend it to family and friends⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Attended my friends wedding on the 2nd June 2018.
From the moment we walked in the staff couldn’t help anymore than they did.
5 star service from the bar, kitchen and housekeeping.
Rooms were stunning we stopped in two different ones for the wedding weekend, and both were clean and crisp. Food was delish and got plenty on the plates. As a big gin fan they had a great collection of different ones and presented them lovely.
I will be 100% becoming a regular over the weekends for few drinks and food from now on. As I own a caravan 10 minutes away. Thank u so much to everyone involved in the feathers x.

Thank you for an amazing meal tonight to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We was given a lovely table with celebration balloons on and it was near the window with lovely views of the village. The staff was amazing they were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The service infact was 100%. The meal was cooked to perfection and on our way out the church bells were ringing it was all perfect thank you so much.

Fabulous hotel, room was modern and comfortable.
The staff were probably the best feature, nothing was too much trouble all were lovely, but followed very closely by the food.

We spent 4 days here with a group. I cannot fault the service, staff or hospitality. We were made exceedingly welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Meals were also excellent and plentiful.

What can I say about The Feathers except that is a cracking place to eat. Food is excellent, bar is well stocked and the staff do you proud, very helpful and nothing too much trouble.

Went here for afternoon tea with my family and it was wonderful! The service is great'; they are so very customer orientated, and the food was 'to die for'. Heartily recommend (I will be going back again once the weather turns warmer).

A warm and friendly atmosphere in a beautiful setting, the decor is neutral with a modern take on a traditional pub, filled with checks and tartan furnishings. The seasonal menu of home cooked hearty meals is just perfect for the environment and the food is amazing value for money, with dishes to suit all palate’s. The Feathers Hotel is well worth a visit.

Delightful premise though very dark therein…not conducive to reading the blood thirsty menu in any event. A regular, carnivores banquet. Hence not much help to vegetarians, far less so vegans. In any event ponder this… The British Medical Association. (BMA) citing a Meat Trades Journal article entitled 'Money down the drain' “Vegetarians have lower rates of obesity, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, bowel disorders, cancers, and gallstones. ” 22 07 94 Eat food that doesn’t have a label. Prof / Dr Robert LUDWIG, author of Fat Chance. C4 News, 08 07 14 Somewhat hardly surprising, given the cowardly, rural in-bred, hunting & shooting fraternity that frequents therein. Such cowards should join the military & shoot that which can & does shoot back. Better still, they should all stand in a circle whilst simultaneously pulling the trigger, thereby eradicating VERMIN. Despite that, I do concede I miss the place.

Great 2 night stay over the Christmas period. Lovely rooms, great staff & fantastic food.

Came in for lunch on 29th December and truly wasn’t disappointed by the food, the service or the atmosphere in pub. They had a wedding on but that didn’t affect the standard of service or the quality of the food. It’s the best place to eat in Helmsley, better than the black swan! If you get the chance book a table in the feathers and start working your way through the menu, every dish is a treat to savour.

Had fish and chips over lunch. The food was incredible — a really delicious meal and the presentation was lovely. It also came very quickly which we were very impressed by.

Good food if a bit pricey. Very friendly and efficient staff. Gave us a table when we had no booking on a Saturday night even though they were busy.

We called In for an early dinner after having great sandwiches here a few years ago. Two of us had chicken, bacon and tomato ciabatta's and one had a bacon, Brie and cramberry. All of the sandwiches had minimal filling and didn't taste great, not worth £9 each. We were asked how the meal was when paying and I told the waitress that it was rubbish, she said she would pass the message on which didn't help us as we still had to pay full price. Safe to say we will not be returning.

Had a lovely stay staff very friendly and helpful. Food was great would definitely stay again.

The bed was lovely and comfortable, although the room itself was quite cold. There was a rather large cobweb above the window, otherwise everything was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was served quickly and was very tasty. The night porter could not have been more helpful for us when we arrived back.

Had a good stay our room was very small and dark but has good food.

Walked in and walked back out again… Christmas tree up already! In September! Not on! Went into their other bar (pickwick bar) and we were served with a glass covered in somebody else's lipstick. Young man behind bar replaced Straight away and was very nice.

Staff were friendly, but the food was average at best. They advertised themselves as 'vegetarian friendly' but are far from that. My other half had two options, and the one she went for was poor. The tofu and roast vegetable sandwich was dry and bland, no flavour, no seasoning or anything. The gammon was ok but nothing special, and a bit overpriced. Wouldn't visit again.

Good staff and a very good location. This is a quaint market town, lots of tea houses and a few good shops. The old castle and Rievaulx abbey nearby. Worth a visit.

Our stay has been back for some time, but it is worth noting that the hotel staff has taken great care of us. Even the laundry was washed us, because our stay was "operational" longer than planned. The extension of the stay on site for the staff was absolutely flawless and ended with a common drink in the connected pub — Chears! :)

Services was excellent from the moment we arrived. Food in the bar was excellent however the portions where huge! Room was comfortable as well.

Food was great, lovely decor. Only problem was when the kitchen ran out of steak pies, so changed our order to turkey pies but neglected to tell us. To be fair the landlord gave us 10% off, but I felt like I had to fight for it. Not a good way to treat your customers.

Nice place in good central location in Helmsley. Food was expensive for what it was. We stayed in room 4 which is at the front of the hotel so was quite noisy until late. Also there was only lukewarm water from the hot tap so a shower wasn't great. We paid for an upgrade to a superior room with king size bed and this room certainly wasn't what we had paid for. We only realised this after we checked out. Nice bars with a good selection of beers and nice staff.

The odd draught from the ever open door bringing in plumes of smoke spoils what is otherwise a nice bar with nice beer and pleasant staff, might try again later this week when it's not so busy, if I get the option.

We loved our experience. Clean, comfortable and a wonderful pub and restaurant. What more could three guys on a motorcycle tour ask for! :-)

Only had dinner there but the food was excellent, the service good and the price very reasonable. We will definitely be eating there again.

Very pleasant hotel/staff/breakfast! Would definitely consider staying there again if I was back in Helmsley. Only possible criticisms would be the kettle in the (mid-priced) room we stayed in could have a longer cord (or a table-height power socket could be provided) and an in-room iron could be provided (although the staff member I asked about this kindly allowed me to do my ironing in the hotel laundry room). As for the possible noise from the square outside that the website warns of, I can't say I really noticed it. Then again I'm relatively young and live in a city so perhaps I have a greater tolerance for that.
