Great food and friendly staff in a very nice setting.

Lovely place to stay, food was amazing, Amy & Sophie are so polite and helpful and made us feel very welcome, thank you xx.

Excellent food, the breakfast was huge with good quality ingredients friendly staff, clean and cosy room. We are unlikely to return as we only went to the area for an event but we highly recommend it based on our experience.

A great place to stay. Beautiful surroundings and delightful staff. We were warmly welcomed by the managers on Reception.
Takis, Kuda, Sophie, Clay and others on the restaurant team were welcoming, polite, friendly and efficient.
The cleaning staff (Susanna, I think) were also excellent and extremely helpful.
The food was exceptional; what a treat to have such an outstanding Chef, Takis, take such interest in explaining and sharing the menu with us.
Definitely will return for another stay!

Went for lunch with friends on Thursday (my first visit). Lovely staff, warm and welcoming atmosphere and imaginative menu. We are returning for our next lunch meeting in December!

Great dog-friendly hotel, room had clean dog bed and bowls and was clean and fresh for us too! Restaurant/bar staff helpful, attentive and friendly. Easy to book table in restaurant. Lots of choice of breakfast options. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely last minute meal here this evening. The food was excellent and the staff where super. There are several new members of the team working hard to learn the ropes and they are doing it with a smile and commitment! Well done guys! Only downside I could mention is the automated phone booking system, feels a little unnerving but all went well so I could probably get used to is.

Disappointed with accomodstion however. Was told upon booking that would be in "a nice room 19" but on arrival got dumped in room 3 which should be avoided. Communal areas in hotel (stairs in particular) need deep refurb.

Been refurbished but didn’t think it was that bad before! Nice food, spacious for internal distancing and friendly staff.

Lorna the waitress was very helpful and kind. Can’t say the same for the rest of the staff. The general manager was rude and no help what so ever. The place itself looked very classy but having sat out side there was sewage pouring out of the drains on the grass, food cold, no cutlery served until after food served and been sat outside for at least 5 minutes. Food was overpriced and mediocre and would advise everyone to steer clear. Not child friendly and we’re asked to pay for our drinks before our food was served although no other diners were asked to do the same. Disgusting to treat paying customers that way. Avoid at all costs!

Comfortable and a laid-back atmosphere. Xxx food is lovely and waitress/waiter service warm and friendly. Accommodating to babies. Toilet facilities excellent.

Ordered 5 meals, 3 came after 40 mins and the other 2 never came. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes. It was too late then as the others had eaten. So we left without eating. Staff were apologetic as it wasn't there fault. Maybe more staff would have been better especially as it was Christmas Eve.

We had a large get together and ordered from the festive menu at £30 a head. The food was absolutely awful, Starters were basically dry stale bread and bits of dry meat, mains… potatoes were inedible and looked like last weeks one reheated in a microwave, Yorkshire’s were stone cold, barely any gravy. One person had fish and chips, the fish stank and the batter was soggy. Puddings were gross, dry brownie that had the texture of dry dirt and crumble with cold custard, no crumble just a biscuit sprinkled on top of stewed apple. A lot of it was inedible. We did have to only pay the £10 per head deposit because of it but it ruined the evening to be honest. This is only the second time I’ve been here, first time food was lovely, it’s like a completely different place.

First time visiting for dinner. Waited an hour and half for food. Food really disappointing and overpriced. Lacked flavour/seasoning and the crispy pork belly had no crackling and was rubbery and chewy. Waitress was rude and unhelpful. Service was so slow. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all and we won’t be going back.

Lovely hotel with nice pub-bar area, lovely food, really helpful friendly staff. Massive improvement, and being refurbished soon apparently! Log fire too.

We went to the worplesdon place, as we Love the children’s play area, it’s perfect and it’s all shaded by trees, however a cheap lunch of two burgers and two portions of chips coated £45, chips were cold, waited ages for our food, the lettuce in the burger that costed £14 was brown and floppy. Clearly the meal was made and left under the heat lamp, there was hardly any potato left inside the chips, a definite double fry to heat chips back up. Price of the food doesn’t match the quality and it’s such a shame. £14 for a burger, when you ask for cheese you get burger cheese (squares) not real cheese… would go again for a drink and so the kids can play, but not for food.

I've popped into Worplesdon Place over 7 years since living in the area, although the owners have changed over that time the staff are always friendly and do a great job looking after clients and customers in such a big venue with high volumes of folk passing through in the bar restaurant and summer garden, plus several loos which are kept clean tidy and aesthetic with nice pictures and flowers, plus of course ample free car park, the food and menu is good but probaly could do with alternative more affordable lighter bar meals, sandwiches and light bites as they did in the past?

We only stayed for one night but we all enjoyed our stay, rooms where fantastic, the breakfast was lovely filled us all up for the day, staff where very friendly, a big thank you to Rachel you made us all feel very welcome, thank you x.

Lovely place amazing gardens, however missing that final touch. Customer service good but needs attention. Can you order your main when you finish your starter if a first for me.
A pink burger that I am not happy with to be told that’s how we cook our steaks. Tried to explain between a burger n steak but wasn’t really listening to me. The burger was under cooked full stop. I did receive another burger and it was delicious.
Yesterday’s food was microwave chicken wings with old celery with compost on … just missing that final touch. …
I think a little front of house training would be beneficial as it’s a beautiful pub In a prime location. Will I return when next in Guildford … No but a shame as lovely surroundings. Thanks and wish you all the best for the future.

Lovely relaxing place, fab garden for children to play in. Food really great and very friendly, helpful staff.

Kids catered for as have set up usual food ordering outside too for there pub menu as well as kids menu, due to no kids burgers unless ordered off kids menu but not much in it in terms of waiting. If you are at a loose end this bank holiday weekend & fancy a burger definitely head here. As don’t forget the outside climbing frame & lake. Love it!

Booked a large party and all booked what we wanted in advance to find that the final bill was higher than what you had worked it out to be.
The menu prices hadn’t changed and no one seemed interested in sorting it out.
All we got is a email address for the manager.

Slightly disappointed for our 30th wedding anniversary the only special request I had was to have a nice table to fit the situation. The disappointment came when we found out we were put in what I felt was more a back room with a table for 13 straight through the middle all mixed up chairs, don't think any two matched, tables all different heights no coaster, place mats felt more like the local cafe. Ordered drinks at the table which I had to remind the staff twice that we didn't have them finally got them when the food was served. The food is what I would class as pub grub nothing special. If your going out just a couple of you for a quick bite to eat then it not to bad any think other than that don't expect any thing specil.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here. The staff were attentive and very pleasant and the food absolutely yummy. Atmosphere was very charming and relaxing.

We had breakfast, the food was great but the service was lacking (slow). The venue is fantastic and in my opinion an improvement in service would go a long way to build further custom.

Had a big party booked. Food was good but service was very poor. After 2 hours we had to as for some of the dirties to be cleared away. But they were really on time at 11 o'clock when they came in on the dot, turned music off and started stacking chairs. Pretty poor show really.

We've been popping to the Worplesdon Place on and off for 10 years. Historically, food has been very variable, but this afternoon we had an excellent meal and attentive service. Food was fresh, very well cooked and presented appetizingly. It felt like a treat (which it was). Would (and have) recommend to others. Will be back again, hopefully it'll go from strength to strength.

Nice place. Well decorated and lovely gardens to grab the sun in. Bar is reasonably priced and food looks good although I did not eat. Room was comfey and well modernised.

In the middle of the English countryside, the hotel has rooms with matrimonial beds, not very comfortable doubles. 1 bar and a restaurant serving English dishes and international cuisine. Benches and chairs. For dinner at the fresco. Good local beers and teas.

We came for lunch and the restaurant was full so we had to sit in the bar, which wasn't too bad. We ordered food and drinks and the drinks came within a few minutes. Unfortunately, it took 50 minutes for our food to be delivered to us. It was very nice.

A real surprise gem! Booked quickly as needed a room for the night, found it lovely, quirky, comfortable and friendly. The room was warm, clean and modern. Food was superb too! Would certainly recommend. Minor criticism was that the walls are quite thin and you can hear into the next rooms, luckily our neighbors were polite and quiet!

Lovely food. Service was slightly slow, but the manager was proactive in dealing with it before we even thought to complain and overall we had a great experience. Would definitely go back.

Confused by some of the reviews? Wasn't expecting such a comfortable welcoming stay. Stayed in rooms up to £500 per night which where on the same par. Food was nice, good selection of drinks at the bar. Room was wonderful! Would highly recommend.

Lovely setting and good restaurant/bar. Plenty of room to sit and walk outside. Also rooms to stay as well. The service was slow and we had to wait some time for our meal. We had pre booked our table.

Tasty food, nicely presented. Small, but then it was a starter. Busy for a midweek lunchtime. That didn't affect the service or the friendliness of staff. Good place for an informal lunch.

It was a really nice place. Lots of gluten free options but you need to ask for the GF menu. We stayed the night and it was nice. Actual cubicle shower which is rare. Bed was comfortable and staff were nice and accommodating. It seems to he a popular location for functions like weddings so find out what's happening before you stay.

I've stayed here a few times, the rooms are clean comfortable and spacious and very good value for the area. The bar is well stocked although slightly pricy! Would recommend staying here.

Very nice atmosphere. Came in with a small pupper and she was made very welcome. Food was great and bar was clean and tidy. Light bites are very small but the sandwiches are massive.

Decent range of drinks — however the real ale selection tends to include at least 1-2 which are off at any point in time. Otherwise spirits and wines are well catered for. Food is pretty well rounded English pub cuisine with lots of farm fresh ingredients elevating steaks, salads, lamb shank and similar to set against a decent pie, fish & chips, burger etc. All in all a very nice place for an evening, with accomodation on site, decent decor, and a log stove (when it's on).

We were here for lunch in the bar. Service chaotic… There appeared to be only one person handling drinks orders and serving, and food ordering. When food came out, the person wandered from table to table offering it! Surely giving each order or table a number would solve this? Having said that, the food was good and hot. Even small lunches were huge! The tea and coffee were hot. The staff were very friendly. Hence nearly 5 stars.

Good food and gluten free choices. Also our daughter is allergic to nuts and the chef spoke to us and offered us choices. Very happy customer.

We've been there lots of times over several years, but have really got to say this is the best time to visit it. Each and every member of staff are great, the food is fabulous and the atmosphere is great too. We've just had our daughters 21st birthday family lunch there and everybody made it special for her. All there is to say is THANK YOU Worplesdon place for coming back.

We have had an amazing wonderful experience while staying at the Worplesdon. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food was fantastic! The bed in our room was incredibly comfortable and I slept like a rock! Definitely recommend staying here.

Had a most lovely wedding. Staff were friendly and attentive. Nice grounds if the weather is good. Good quality meal both as wedding breakfast and the next day as well.

Stayed overnight as my normal place, Holiday Inn, was fully booked. Food was good, room and bed were good, decent breakfast. All you can ask for for the price.

Fantastic afternoon tea. Staff very helpful. Was given more tea when we asked. Nothing was too much of a problem.

Brilliant pub with lovely gardens, view of lake and play areas for kids. Comfy elevated balcony if you don't want to be eating in the garden. Indoor tables as well. Food was excellent end good value (for a top quality pub lunch).

A thoroughly mediocre hotel. Prices higher than justified — £3 for a double espresso — and patchy service. Rooms were smaller than advertised, and a so-called superior room featured no air con, mini bar, or even a decent hair dryer. No room service, even during bar opening hours, and inconsistent staffing. Breakfast finished ludicrously early on a weekend and was overpriced. A lovely setting, but a disappointing hotel that claims to be far more than it is. Hardly better than a generic chain pub with rooms.

Food was good, although it took a long time to arrive seeing as we had pre-ordered it! Staff were friendly and helpful, and they had a reasonable selection of beers, although a few weren't available. I had the chicken club sandwich which was perfectly fine, although nothing spectacular. Good experience.

My brother and his new wife had the wedding reception at Worplesdon place. Everything was amazing and they had a perfect day. Food was the best I've had at a wedding in a really long time! Was a magical evening and the staff were very attentive to our needs! Definitely recommended by us!

The venue is set in beautiful grounds. The staff were excellent, very friendly and courteous. We were staying over for a wedding. The reception was very nice. Excellent BBQ and the room was very clean and well decorated. Breakfast in the am was good too. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the room we stayed in was a little dirty there were spilt drinks on the walls and were next to the extractor funnel for the kitchen so it was a little noisy but not enough to put us off. On the whole I would recommend but avoid room 11 unless you want to hear every person coming up the stairs and smell all the food being cooked.

The hotel is set in lovely grounds with a lake and wooden play area for children. Lots of outside tables to make the most of the space. Hotel room was very nice and had catered for our needs by putting an extra bed into the room. A few slight issues such as shower couldn't drain fast enough so was a bit of an overflow issue but nothing major. Breakfast was very good and reasonably priced.

Aesthetic garden with beautiful pond with a bench. The pub itself makes a good range of drinks and is great for you an a couple of mates to enjoy. There's a social room which is good for fairly small social events and a very large outdoor area with lots of parking as well. Overall good experience.

I do not recommend having the Afternoon Tea. At The Worplesdon Place. Yesterday a group of 6 mums arrived having had afternoon tea booked for several weeks only to be told they didn't have our booking as we'd booked through groupon & they don't seem to link the bookings together. Their problem not ours & one that needs to be rectified asap. After checking with the chef we were informed that we could stay for our afternoon tea, great, we were shown to a table & soon after we were bought a glass of Prosecco each & pots of tea. Would have preferred tea in cups & saucers rather than the chunky mugs we were given, but never mind! When the food arrived on 3 slate looking tiles there was 16 finger sandwiches, so only enough for 2 each & when we asked for more we were told no! There was 1 scone each with plenty of jam & cream which was nice but the cakes after were very disappointing as they were more like dessert, chocolate torte, lemon tart & apple pie, again there was not enough of these for everyone & they were very small portions. Staff were not very attentive, we had to keep asking for more tea. An older couple came in for afternoon tea later on & they were given 8 finger sandwiches between them which I think is much more acceptable that just 2. Anyway after having my afternoon tea, I then went home & had dinner as normal, which I shouldn't have needed!

I took my 85 yr old dad for a birthday afternoon high tea… seeing as he was also in a wheelchair, they set up an accessible table for us and were so helpful… he had a great time and although the tea wasn't "posh" there was plenty of it and delicious… the salmon sandwichs were amazing, and there were so many little cakes to choose from, plus two large scones each with delicious jam and masses of fresh cream — we could of had as many pots of coffee as we wanted too… without asking they bought out two boxes for us to take the cakes we'd left home… fantastic decor staff were very attentive — we will definitely be back…

Lovely setting and decor. This is the second time here meeting friends for breakfast Unfortunately, again the service was very slow and the breakfast was awful. We had to wait as there were no eggs left so had to go and buy some more, fair enough I suppose that can happen if very busy! We asked for a pot of tea, it didn't come so had to remind the waiting staff. There was a dribble of juice left and no bread for toasting. When we eventually got our breakfast, we had one egg rather than two, stated on menu, streaky bacon not back bacon, half a sausage, quarter tomato and about a desert spoon of backed beans. It was tiny, not worth the £8.99 price. We will be choosing a different venue for our meet up next time which is a shame as it is a lovely place and convenient for all of us who come from different areas.

Booked this for my birthday, the new refurbished bar looks brilliant and the restaurant is definitely more of higher standard than it used to be. Staff were generally very friendly some being great but some also not cutting it in the customer service debt which was a little disappointing but the good did out way the bad. Food was gorgeous! Prices fair and everything clean.

Stayed for 1 night as had a graduation in Guildford, the staff were vey friendly, informative and helpful. The bar was friendly and relaxing. The room was clean, well stocked and very comfortable, with lovely views over the garden The breakfast was cooked to order which meant fresh and hot.

Went for a meal a couple of weeks after the refurbishment, place didn't look any different apart from a few more tables in the main bar and my meal was dreadful couldn't eat it. Seemed as if every thing was old and been reheated, certainly won't be going back even though it's my local.

Just passed by and stop for a drink one Sunday afternoon. The place seemed a bit empty but staff were great and friendly, we had some comfy chairs and just enjoyed a nice relaxing time. Will be back in summer to enjoy the nice garden with a drink next to the lake.

The food was fantastic and are server jen was quick polite and friendly. Has got a lot better than it has been before.

I had not been to the restaurant here for some time as I'd heard poor reviews of it, but we went for lunch there last week and it was excellent. The service was cheerful, willing and informative — we had 2 charming young waiters who could not do enough for us (two elderly ladies). The starter, attractively presented on a slate, was delicious and well up to London standards. I had Beef Wellington, and the pastry was crisp and the. Beef inside tender and tasty. I do hope they keep this chef as we want to come back in the summer and enjoy the beautiful grounds and try out other items on the menu.

My partner and I took our respective mothers for lunch. Booked on line with no problems. Welcome was warm, food was fantastic, service was fine. Place could do with some love though. All in all in a very pleasant 4 hours.

The hotel has recently come under new management and the place has yet to find its purpose and feet. The service is slow and bar staff inefficient and looking as if they would prefer to be elsewhere. However I like the quietness and coffees and chilling out watching the rare breed birds. I am a regular customer and would not be so if it was awful.

Staff were all friendly and helpful. Excellent food and breakfast. Room was just perfect with views over to the lake.

Naff. And Lawn covered in goose droppings.
