My friend was treated to a meal here for her big Birthday! She has just told me how awful the food was! How can you ruin Fishhook and chips, no tartar! She is housebound so this was a big trip out for her! She will never go back and didn’t want to upset her friend by complaining! Shame on this so called restaurant 😬

The staff were slow and dismissive, we were constantly chasing our drinks and food orders. The the starters arrived they had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp as the butter had melted and the olives were hot. After waiting and chasing our mains for another 30 minutes we ok but not much of it for the price. The table next to us were told that there were no pizzas and this was one of the reasons they booked, then when they wanted to order something different were told they only had limited numbers of food or the chef wasn't going to cook that even though it was on the menu. All in all it was piss poor and won't be going back.

The worst dining experience of my life. This was supposed to be a celebratory dinner for my daughters birthday and it was absolutely appalling. We booked a table for 17:00 so nice and early and we were the only guests in the restaurant for some time. We tried to order champagne, but fortunately as it turns out, they didn’t have any so ordered a bottle of Prosecco instead. This was then dumped on the table in front of my daughter, unopened, with three glasses. Unbelievable! No one liked to say anything as we didn’t want to spoil my daughters birthday so my son in law had get out of his seat and open the bottle. When the food came again it was dumped on the table and no one asked if we would like mustard, sauces etc. My daughter and I ordered filet steak, it was well cooked but a big chunk of both of our steaks was completely inedible and pure fat and gristle, not proper filet at all. My daughter then went to use the Ladies toilet and it was in such a disgusting state she could not use it at all. If we had seen that before we ordered food we would not have eaten at the Curious Pig. It was ages before the waitress came to clear the table and my daughter asked to speak to the manager. She complained very politely. He said they were short of staff. Surely if this was the case then why did they take our booking and it’s no excuse as to why the bottle of Prosecco was not opened, we were the only patrons in the restaurant at that time.

Food was over priced and not a good quality at all. Service was poor. Manager was rude. Toilets were disgusting and unusable. We went to the Curious Pig for a family birthday meal. To say we left disappointed was an understatement. We ordered champagne, there was none so we had Prosecco instead. The bottle was dumped on the table unopened with the glasses for us to sort ourselves. Food then arrived. The fillet steaks were best part of £30 each but were really fatty so half of which we couldn’t eat. We couldn’t use the ladies toilets because a children’s party had been in earlier in the day and they were disgusting. Clearly not been cleaned and had I seen this before we had eaten I’d have turned around and gone home hungry. This in itself is unexceptional. I very politely explained to the manager that we weren’t happy but he immediately became defensive and his response was extremely rude. He took 10% off the bill, not even the price of one meal and threw it on the table. He couldn’t get us out of the pub quick enough and was by no way apologetic. We won’t be going back and won’t be recommending it to anyone in future.

I highly recommend curious pig. My Dad's 70th celebration was wonderful. The staff were great, it's cosy and warm and the food is absolutely excellent. We'll be coming back soon.

Was really excited to try this place out but was left disappointed by the service, not the food! Waitresses were lovely, however I believe the manager of the pub had a total lack of customer service skills, which really left a negative impression. Example: a member of our table requested for a drink from the manager as he walked past our table to which he said he would get, however before I could even request a drink for myself he turned around and walked off — so I then had to flag down another member of staff to request a drink.
As an experienced waitress myself I only think it’s common courtesy to ask if anyone else would also like a drink if a member of the table has requested one? Especially when they are sitting there with an empty glass. Another example: After we had finished our mains we sat there for 15 minutes with empty plates (obviously showing we were finished) to which we had to request the plates to be taken away — even though the manager was standing at the bar and saw we were waiting for the plates to be taken away so we could order desserts. Overall the food was lovely and the waitresses were great, explained the menu etc however the lack of attention, customer service skills, positive attitude that came from the manager was to put it blankly. Rude! As an experienced waitress I wouldn’t dare have the attitude that this manager provided to our table and has resulted in a poor review of the service.

Always heard great things about this place so finally gave it a go today for a Sunday Roast! The food was really really yummy, however our experience was ruined by the manager. The four of us had ordered the chicken roast which came with chipolatas, the waitress then came out and said they have run out of chipolatas but we can have extra roast potatoes instead? I said roast potatoes don’t equal sausages. As we ordered cheesy cauliflower and maple glazed veg as sides, I asked if we could have those for free to compensate. The waitress said she will ask her manager. The manager comes over to us with the STINKIEST attitude and says “you can’t have the sides for free, we simply ran out of certain things. If you’re not happy you can order something other than a roast dinner”. Wow. I was speechless. The absolute disregard for customer satisfaction and the lack of care to make up for something they ran out of. Its as if the cauliflower cheese comes out of his wages. The food was great and the waitresses were lovely and attentive, but will not be coming back here due to the stuck up manager.

Just back from a Fathers Day celebration at The Curious Pig in the Parlour. The food was excellent, the service outstanding and the desert to die for. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed my sausages, bacon & mash since my children have become vegetarian! Delicious white chocolate pudding too. We were looked after really well by Nathan. Great service & a nice buzzy atmosphere tonight.

As an American I didn’t know what to expect. After 10 days of eating the same stuff in pubs I had one of the best pizzas here! All meat. Mmm.

Ensure that the staff outside, take a customers order and listen to what's being ordered. I got the wrong side order and was left sitting with the main course waiting for the correct one.

Pizza unfortunately isn’t any good. Much better from the Real Pizza Company in Copthorne. They burnt mine tonight. Staff lovely and friendly and make up for the food.

Stopped here for food… Which was very well cooked and of a good quality but a bit on the pricey side. It wants to be a gastro pub but personally I don't think the have the pub / good balance quiet right. A lovely place for a drink and nibbles.

Very nice! Although my friends food was a very small portion… I had plaice goujons and fries, cooked well and the oil was not old which is something I come across lots… therefore everything was golden coloured not dark brown… service was v good … lovely surroundings…

I've Visited this restaurant twice now and on both occasions had a steak. On both occasions, the steak was not good. The meat was tough and overcooked (the rib-eye especially) despite me ordering it rare. Perhaps I am expecting too much from a pub steak, but based on the reviews I gave this places two chances to impress me! That said, my friend had a pizza and that looked quite good. Plus they have a decent selection of wines.

Good food and beer. Excellent garden and a good welcome for dogs. There is even one area in the restaurant screened off from the main bar with a tiled floor where dogs are welcome indoors if the weather is bad. There's a good selection of food which included hake and great pizzas plus the usual burgers, cod and chips and a whole range of steaks. Definitely a good place for a relaxing meal with friends and family.

Stayed the night prior to flying from Gatwick. 15/20 minutes from the airport, £60 room rate for double room including a very nice breakfast. Friendly Bar staff and great selection of real ale. Recommended in my opinion.

Only visited in passing as it was an official stop on the BHF London to Brighton bike ride. Had a lovely gourmet bacon and cheese burger cooked on the barbecue outside. If the food outside is anything to go by I'd definitely come back to try the restaurant food.

Great atmosphere and decor. My food was ok but my triple fried chips weren't crisp, hence the 3 stars. But the desserts were amazing!

Lovely outdoor eating area. Staff are friendly but not as efficient as one would like. It was busy to be fair. Food is good with healthy size portions! Would definitely go back.

This place was great! When our friend asked for gluten free options the manager went above and beyond to make her little mini gluten free pizzas.

Food and staff were excellent. Would have given 5 stars but had to wait for quite a while for drinks and food and they forgot something off our order which we reminded them but it still didn't come. Even so, it was a truly nice way to spend an afternoon in the sun and the puddings were outstanding.

Five of us came in for an early evening meal. The steaks were half price as it was a Tuesday. Everyone went for the steak and they were all cooked to perfection. We had a range of starters, all were excellent. Service was prompt and very helpful. Would thoroughly reccomend.

On a short visit from the USA to a friend's new house. We tried the curious pig at the last minute. Wonderful food & good service. Parking is at a premium and I would advise booking ahead.

Lovely place rooms are immaculate. Food was just lovely and served by their very friendly and helpful staff. If I'm ever down here il definitely be calling again. 5 out 5 for us and very reasonably priced.

Love this place so close to Gatwick perfect if you have to fly out early or in late. Food is excellent. Tuesday was half price steak night. They have a pizza oven lovely out side garden and the rooms are always clean and well presented.

Had a quick pint. Nicely done out pub. Big garden. Heater for cold evenings. I will eat next time. Popped in on Saturday for a pizza & a pint. Very good again. The bird and mother in law enjoyed themselves.

Had a wonderful meal here with friends. Service is prompt and friendly and we all enjoyed our meals. They have options for vegans/vegetarians but my friend that had one of these was the least pleased as the food wasn't well seasoned.

Had the worst roast I have had since school dinners. Utterly tasteless, cheap meat, Bisto gravy and floppy soggy ‘roast’ parsnips and carrots. All for the princely sum of £16.50. If you like and appreciate good food go somewhere else. If you are not bothered about how food tastes go to Harvester it’s cheaper.

I stayed here and ate here with a great friend of mine and would highly recommend others do the same. The bedroom was tastefully decorated with a comfy bed and big bathroom with a bath. The food in the evening was great value and delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant matched this too.

I have eaten and drank at The Curious Pig in the Parlour numerous times recently and have never had a bad experience. The staff are polite and efficient. Always seated quickly and orders for drinks and food are also taken and served without issue even in busy periods. The food is amazing to say the least. Sunday roasts are among the best ever sampled. I thought it better to review after a couple of visits to ensure consistency.

Went for dinner with the family. Very nicely done English country pub décor. Real wood fire with the great smell that comes with it. Food was excellent. Pizzas made in wood fired oven. Toppings were top quality. The steaks were very good quality meat and cooked perfectly in a nice unique style. It's move expensive, but worth it.

Had a very nice meal there on boxing day, the service was very good also. Only downfall was the coffee. They we good about it and made a second one but unfortunately still no good. Maybe that's just because I'm a kiwi and I know a good coffee, ha! Still deserves a 4 star rating.

Nice place for overnight stay, great service. A little pricey for what you get. Great location for Gatwick.

We had Christmas lunch here. They brought bread which was really hard, the starters were poor, I got one piece, of very small smoked salmon, one prawn & one scallop, the presentation was really poor, my husband had a small onion tart which looked really over cooked. The main course Turkey with all the trimmings was good. The pudding of fruit was ok. It was busy & although the staff were very friendly, helpful & courteous the service was pretty slow. At £75 each It was expensive for the overall experience. The pub itself is nice with a open fire. I would go back again as all the staff were so friendly.

We were staying down the road and were looking for somewhere to go and get some food in the evening and came across the curious pig. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, we had our dog with us and being Christmas eve we didn't expect to find a seat so we sat at the bar for a bit by the log fire and had a drink. Good selection of ales & lagers to be enjoyed. We ordered a pizza which you can watch being made as the pizza oven is at the rear by the big beer garden. Really enjoyed it here. Thanks guys.

Found ourselves here by fortune after the first place we were going to visit (The Farmhouse in Horley) was inaccessible due to a delivery. Most fortunate for us. The food here is delicious & we enjoyed the most wonderful sticky toffee pudding we have ever eaten. Will definitely return!

Nice well mannered attentive staff let down by a new chief who burnt the Duck starter and made a cheese cake with the atomic weight of plutonium. Nice clean premises. Good value for money.

Burgers were a little dry and lacking in taste, the cheese and bacon compensated a little but the absence of a decent relish left it short on its £12.95 price tag. Ambiance was good, service was good although kitchen was a little slow. Not the best lunch venue for the money.

We love it here! The staff are happy, friendly and so helpful. We often go here for dinner the food is great. The gardens in the summer are lovely, even in the evenings with patio heaters. Would highly recommend it!

Went for Sunday roast. Delicious, the chicken was juicy and tender, all other roasted vegetables were perfect. Recommend for a great Sunday roast. They have vegetarian option as well.

Came for a company lunch. The service was friendly and quick and the food was very well cooked. I'd suggest the steak over the pea risotto though!

Spent 1night here loved it. Foid wonderful the pizza's a necessary! Delicious-breakfast no fat whatever a slimmers world delight! — room/bed comfy staff all polite and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Came here for a romantic weekend and racing at Lingfield. So far this place has every last detail nailed. The garlic king prawn pizza is to die for (cooked in the open brick kiln that you can stand and watch) and the breakfasts are first class. The room may be a little compact but has everything you need, the attention to detail of little things like tea and coffee presentation and the slightly unusual furnishings around the place, show just how much thought has been put in getting this right. The gardens are lovely, plenty of space to make your own. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Staff very pleasant, service very prompt. We have have benefited by have a room that overlooked the garden at the rear as I imagine the front rooms may have had the noisy road, but for me it was very quiet indeed. We WILL be back!

The service from the staff is always excellent and the pub has a great relaxing feel about it whether it be for a meal out with the family or a girls night for drinks and cocktails, had fish and chips the other night which is a first for me in any restaurant and it was delicious, understandably the service can be a little slow at times but this you sometimes have to accept with a popular restaurant/meeting place for all, where the food I find is of high standard.

Booked a table for a sunday afternoon with my parents and gran expected to have good time, Arrived early to a bar uncleared and messy had a drink to await the table. Was sat down at the right time to wait for 20 minutes to place a order for a starter which took forever but admittadly tasted good and perfect then waited best part of a hour for our mains as they had clearly cooked the fish and chips and steak waiting for the pizza to be ready as it was the only good meal that arrived and when they arrived it was a let down the fish and chips where over cooked and over battered for the size/cut of fish just made to look large. The pizza's are bloody good cooked perfect and taste amazing the chips that are sold as triple cooked are under cooked and nearly raw not worth ordering in honesty not worth visiting a complete let down staff are over stretched and like lost dogs save your money and go to another pub/restaurant near by!

We went to the Curious Pig for a family birthday lunch. We had a one year old with us. The staff were very accommodating. There was more space between the tables than a lot of restaurants have. The food was good. The service is friendly. The building and interior are very attractive. Would recommend to friends and family.

Stopped off for a quick lunch on a Friday. Both my wife and I decided to have a pizza. They have a wood fired pizza oven and I have to say, the pizza was fantastic. They also have a lovely outside space with plenty of seats. Would recommend.

Went there for lunch and was lucky enough to sit in the large garden. A good surprise is that the garden has service — order food and drinks at your garden table! Excellent idea! The menu is extensive and the food well-priced and tasty. Will definitely return.

We are here last night (Valentines) and can highly recommend the Curious Pig. When I booked our table I was told that the restaurant was full so we would be seated in the bar but when we arrived we were given one of the booths which was lovely. I chose the Pig as they weren't offering a bumped up set menu — in fact they were still doing 1/2 price steak night. All I can say is wow! We shared baked Camembert and then bull head steak. The steak was beautifully cooked and so tasty. Unfortunately there wasn't room for dessert but was very tempted by the sticky toffee! Can't recommend this place enough.

My husband Gary and I went to the curious pig last night Tues to be greeted by Ed the manager he's was very welcoming and friendly and a warm genuine smile his attention to detail is second to none. The food was to die for best steak we've eaten in a long time and cooked to exactly how we wanted it. Waiting staff were very attentive but not in your face kind of way. I spoke to Ed to pass on my compliments to the chef and to say what excellent customer service we received. Told him we will definitely be back with family and friends. A great job well done Ed.

Awful service from staff who were either disinterested or distracted, and unable to competently serve customers. Food was decent, but experience ruined by bad service. From a 17:15 reservation, being maybe 3rd table seated, we did not get away until 20:00. After getting our drinks, there was a long wait before waitress came to order food. There was then an even longer wait for our starters, another long wait for mains, and yep a long wait for dessert — though didn't get offered coffees. To cap it all, having received bill then had to wait some more to flag another employee that we had card on table ready to pay. Our main waitress preferred to clear tables, put away cutlery, set tables of disappear all instead of providing service to customers already there. Gaps between courses must have been at least 30mins. Table next to us somehow received (having ordered just before us) three courses before we'd received our mains. Roast beef was good, though vegetables and cauliflower cheese were barely warm — probably waitress had left them cooling for 10mins or more once ready whilst she did everything except her job. Sirloin steak requested medium, came med-well or well even. For the prices really expect better food and service. Would not go back or recommend.

More restaurant than pub and when you can't use the garden you're limited to bar stools and a small eating area. However, good selection of beers, ciders, lagers, bitters, real ale. Will come back in the spring and for a meal.

From the moment we arrived, the staff could not have been friendlier or more efficient. My partner and I are foodies and interior design fans, and so we're particular on both fronts. This place delights in both areas with a contemporary, witty twist on a rustic tradition, making it as cosy as it is elegant. On the first night, I had the pork belly, which was served with crispy kale and veg. It was succulent, crispy skinned and cooked to perfection. Accompanied with a glass of quality malbec, it was a heavenly end to a long day and knocked the socks off Gordon Ramseys Heddon St, which we'd been disappointed with the night before and thought perhaps we're just too fussy. The Curious Pig reminded us of how a relaxing dining experience should be, and at nowhere near the cost. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Very Poor quality food, I stupidly assumed £12 for a burger and chips would be something really tasty … I was very wrong, save your cash and and buy cold pasty from the petrol garage up the road.

Good food, it arrived quickly and the venue is beautiful. Will be back on a sunny day as the garden looked great.

Long wait for food when the Pub was not busy. The food was over rated and expensive for the quality. I would maybe have a drink there but certainly not eat there again.

Been there 4 times and EVERY time the service is AWFUL! Food arrived at different times, wrong dishes served. Another time no food except pizza and on the other occasion it took 1h30 for dinner! We will not be going back, we've given it 4 attempts and they can't get it right.

I've been here a few times for a drink nice surroundings, so thought I would try the Sunday lunch, roast beef, sadly 2 small pieces of meat a small sprigg of brocoli 2 potatoes a yorkshire pud 4 strips of carrott. The menu says try our delicious gravy well bisto has more flavour! hardly worth £15 a time. The service the was the level of Mac Donalds with a drink taken before it was finished closely followed by a desert that was still being eaten. An Irish coffee that looked and tasted like a latte, we queried this and were greeted by the manageress with utter contempt. A real shame a place with such potential.

Very nice venue and good service but food is nothing to write home about.
