Sharon is the Hostess with the Mostess! — Feels more like home than a Hotel — Great Value — Ideal Location Over the years I have stayed countless times here. One of the best value in Brighton, I much prefer down to earth than pretentious and overpriced. If you are seeking Five Star everything then this is not the place for you, however the home atmosphere, the lovely delightful Sharon who I regard as a friend is more than I could ask for. I just DON’T get some of the negative reviews here, There is something very special about this place, full of warmth character and colour, well you can hardly miss the bright yellow front, so Jamaica. Breakfast tip: Go for one of Sharon's special omelettes! Ideally situated just minutes from everything perfect location. Well appointed rooms and I always sleep like a log on the comfy beds. Ironically it was thanks to Sharon that a very dear life long friend was able to find a new home in Portslade. Sandy had sold a house in Cambridge, and needed somewhere to stay was considering renting and I suggested Alston House — and stayed SIX months! Booking Tip: to get the best deals contact Sharon direct. Brighton Pride Tip: If you are staying for Pride Sharon can supply a wrist band for the two day street party — DON'T pre book the wristband and save your money!

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The whole place smelt of fish. The pans wasn't washed properly so breakfast was full English and it all tasted of fish. The coffee was disgusting tasted of pure chicory. The owner is so so lovely I wish she would referb the whole place.

Me and my friend stay in june for 6 days in Brighton. The hosts were so nice, friendly, helpful and very lovely. We were quikley in our room and an we were so happy because it was so beautiful to the last detail. We had our on key to the Hotel so we can go and come as we wanted. The breakfast was amazing and awesome. We get coffee, tea, eggs, backed beans, sausages, bacon, croissant, yogurt, fruits and juice. Was something empty we get a new one. The enviroment ist perfect for families or the young, because the beach ist very close and shops or pubs are close too. For the young there are lots of clubs in the near :) Conclusion: *everyone is very yery lovely and helpful in the hotel * close to the beach, pubs, inns, NANDOS ;), clubs and shops * beautiful enviroment greetings from the two girls which ask for the funky budda and get panic through easy jet ;) )

We arrived on a very hot day, after our host explained the usual essentials we climbed to the top floor, we found a large spacious room clean and tidy (no11). The bed was very large and proved very comfortable. The room had all other essentials. Being on the top floor meant that the shower took a few minutes to warm up, once warm it was adequate. Breakfast was a delight, cereals etc plus full English. Overall a very nice stay with very nice people. Good view of the pier, and about 10 minutes walk to the beach.

Hotel is nice and simple so if u just need a place to sleep and u not fussy its for u. Shops and chash point is just 2 min walk. Nice and friendly staff u even can get great Jamaican food, for shore will stay here again very Happy and its not expencive.

First any review must be in the context of the pricing. This hotel offers rooms at a very competitive rate. It does not purport to be a high class hotel. Where the decor is lacking, out of date and carpets worn, the friendliness and genuineness of the hotel manageress makes up for a great deal. The breakfasts are a full english. I have stayed at 5 star hotels through to Crowne Plazas across Europe. This hotel is nowhere near to one of these but the breakfast was a wholesome full english. The front rooms have a great view of Brighton Pier. For £30 per weekday night (specially negotiated long term rate) from Jan to May 2008 this was an acceptable hotel. The sheets were always clean. The room was clean. With tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge and TV. This hotel is best if you are working locally during the week and need a clean bed and full breakfast. If you want a smart, chic hotel then go elsewhere and pay more! As to the manageress she has a heart of gold but treat her with disrespect then expect to get short shrift from her. Treat others with respect, be quiet if you return late at nght.
