After flying in from Belfast, our first port of call at reception, was the lovely Donna. Very professional and looked after us every day for the 4 night stay. When in the restaurant the lovely Bethany couldn't do enough. Made us feel very welcome even though it was so busy for her. With family from all over coming to visit us there, we used the restaurant as our meeting place. Nothing was too much trouble here. We had a fantastic experience all in.

Nice hotel. Enjoyed the breakfast & the staff were super friendly.

Food was bland & tasteless not worth the money won’t be going there again. 😞

Absolutely appalled by your customer service. Contacted yourselves on Tuesday to change my reservation over the weekend due to testing positive for Covid. I was told I was unable to cancel, change the date or name of booking. I was free to attend my booking as I no longer needed to isolate when having covid. I apparently care more about your staff and guests than you do, I will not be attending.

I couldnt go because of health reasons so they froze my membership, they didnt tell me they reinstated it and im still unable to attend and they could have cancelled my membership because of this. Dont join.

Room to small, supposed to be a family room, no space to get past the sofa bed to actually get to bed! Make up on pillows, food shocking, shambles waited 20 mins in between each meal (3 of us eating) and when complained gave me a £20 voucher that’s was out of date by one year! Never again.

Through hotels. Com I booked the hotel for two nights (8/9th April) for my parents (late 60’s). Spoke with staff to let them know it would be my folks but same surname and they said it was all ok. They said the hotel was nice but both Friday and Saturday music was played really loud until past Midnight. If I’d of been made aware we would of looked to change. Really disappointing when there’s signs saying quiet area 10:30pm to 7am only for music to be played for longer at events. So loud the windows were shaking, especially Saturday night. If there’s events on would be nice to let people know.

The pool has been ruined and turned into a dangerous 18 teen Spanish holiday camp. Dive bombing, pushing people out of sauna, jacquzzi. Fighting in the pool and the staff ignore it all. Time to find a new health club. Things broken and not fixed. Lot more dirty lately and still shutting early, used to be 10:30. The gangs of teens kicking off is a nightmare, going to be a few sparked out soon.

Worst Christmas Day lunch ever had. Poor service, food was inedible (processed turkey, 4 soggy sprouts, 5 slices of carrots, watery gravy). Goats cheese salad was just as bad, soggy mushy salad and toast so hard it was impossible to break. Extremely slow service, no Christmas atmosphere, dreadful. We left before coffee wAs served because we felt we’d already wasted 4 1/2 hours and couldn’t wait to get home. Empty stomach and purse. Charged £300 for 5 rubbish meals.

Poor portioning. Embarrassing wait time. Invisible staff. Ruined our Christmas dinner.

Dreadful experience trying to change a booking due to my daughter having a Covid test. Hotel refused to change my reservation to the following weekend. Supporting each other during this strange time … not the village hotel. Simple ask but they weren’t interested.

Would like to thank the 3 staff who helped us in the pool today with a child who had seizured. They couldn't do enough for us which made everything go as best as it could in that situation. Thanks again!

Had food Monday night me and my partner, not much of a menu little choice, weren't all that busy and had to wait over an hour for food my partner had the peri peri burger chicken was chewy and bit dry and I had the steak was ok but the peppercorn sauce was very bland not how it should be no taste overall won't be rushing back! Had a much better meal last night at the Butcher's Arms no ordering at the bar! Table service and everything with the food was spot on.

Fab food after a lovely swim, staff fab as usual, family loved it, nice to be back, thanks to you all.

Stayed for one night with great friends just because we could. Lovely meal and bed was very comfortable, need to take the bed home with me. Pool, sauna, steam room area was great. You don't even have to worry about towels bulking out your bags as they have them there for you. Breakfast hot what more could you want.

I had a lovely spa day today. Erika was excellent, very friendly and polite. I would definitely recommend.

The spa was amazing. Disappointed not to use the jacuzzi as the same people were occupying for a long time.

We went for the girls At the spa break on the Sunday night. The price is absolutely fantastic for what is included. The range of treatments offers, the food and the food was outstanding. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Will most definitely be returning again.

We had our wedding reception here 2 years ago and like to go back for our anniversary each year. I’ll say the food was fab and the staff were brilliant. However, our room wasn’t the cleanest and I was able to here people talking in the next room until 3am! The room wasn’t dark enough to sleep and the Sky in the room was very temperamental. I just expected better having paid the extra for a Club room. I was also disappointed to find out that the Bclub was not available to use on weekends, you’d think that would be their most popular time!

Had a lovely spa day here on Wednesday, the staff were really polite and welcoming. I had the facial and back massage which were fantastic. The facilities were brill and I loved that the jacuzzi was seperate to the pool unlike most spa resorts. Only downfall was having to pay the extra £5 per person for a robe and towels which really should be included in the price like every other place. Just a suggestion, also may want to look into providing slippers as the pool side is quite slippery and walking bare foot to the relaxation room isnt really great! Overall had a lovely relaxing day and would recommend!

Nice venue for food/drinks/meetings. Good quality spa treatment. Pricey though. Even with the member discount it is upper end of budget for what you get. Decent quality but lacking in soul — very generic Starbucks-style hotel.

Stayed in a club room (upgrade) well the bed was comfy and the room was large with big shower but then you settle in. They played load music downstairs till gone midnight with load bass pumping round the room. The walls are paper thin so we could hear people talking in the the other room and running outside the room. The toilet seat was loose so my wife bless her said it was like a bucking Broncos ride when she tryed to use the loo. This is the upgrade room so who knows what the standard is like. The phone in the room does not have a direct link to reception. It does for spa, bar, food etc but not anyone that can do something with your room.

Went with a friend for a spa day. Excellent choice of treatments and friendly staff. Large pool, sun loungers, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Wanted a meal in restaurant later but it didn't open until 5pm so had bar meal instead. Choice was a bit limited but food tasty and quick service. Plenty of free parking. Would definitely go back.

Expensive for what you get. We were upgraded to the club room yet half the plug sockets didn't work, and the shower floods the bathroom as it doesn't drain efficiently. The dress pillows on the bed are dirty and smell. The coffee in the room is awful really bitter. Even tho we had a baby they did not provide us with a kettle to make up her bottles. Otherwise the room would have been lovely. Club facilities looked nice but we did not get to use them during this stay.

Lovely stay at the village hotel. A bit loud due to a wedding but as we were in on business, they moved us to a different area — super quiet. I also took advantage of the spa (they squeezed me in as a last minute request! ) and got an amazing 25 min massage. Then I headed out and got coffee in the Starbucks. Overall ideal hotel. Would come again for the spa alone!

Really great. We are both disabled and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Special mention about Michael who is behind the desk who wrangled our luggage. He was helpful beyond the call of duty when he had to help lift our mobility scooters back into our car when our electric hoist packed in. Room and bed was very clean and comfy, delicious food and perfect poached eggs for breakfast. For the able bodied lots of good facilities with a gym and pool etc and the added bonus of an on site Starbucks. Well done Urban Village you deserve 10 stars not just 5.

The Village Hotel in Cardiff is perfectly located for motorway travel, and not too far for driving into the city centre. The rooms are very large, clean, modern and comfortable. The provided shower gel and shampoo have the nicest fragrances of any I've ever known at a hotel. The rooms have huge TV's and good tea and coffee provisions. Breakfast is okay, not a huge selection, but quite tasty. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Excellent location. We were there for a birthday and had a table booked in the restaurant. The staff were helpful and friendly, the food was tasty. On the expensive side, but reasonable if you are a member and receive 25% discount.

I have joined the gym. Very good equipment, very nice pool and spa area. Excellent changing facilities. The bar area looks welcoming.

Modern hotel, with nice restaurant and pub and great gym. Colours are modern and may not be for everyone taste. Great to have an Starbucks on site.

Spa day was mediocre at best, a 30 minute treatment only involved 14 minutes of actual massage! For £50 per person — this is a complete rip off. The pool, sauna and steam room areas were so overcrowded and noisy as to totally ruin the ambiance of a relaxation day. Won't go back there in a hurry — even a Bannatyne day is much better value for money and far more relaxing! If you can spring the extra — go to the Vale Resort — it's a world apart.

Great facilities. Pool, gym sauna etc. The room was not as clean as it should have been (carpet was not hoovered properly). Facilities in room were good and menu was excellent. Great variety.

Was here for a work conference was really easy to find. Good amount of parking available which is free. Restaurant looked reasonable we had food provided so didn't eat there. Food was nice at the conference. If go back here again either for worn or pleasure.

I’ve spent here 10 weeks! I must say that this hotel is very good. I have no issues at all. Restaurant — very good! Very friendly staff.

Visited the SPA for the first time today as a way of relaxing after a very hard few days training. The facilities were very good, clean and well maintained. Customer service on the phone was excellent however when I attended the pool/spa reception the two ladies where very busy talking about a training session that they were doing! How many reps… that after they had asked me if they could help, proceeded to forget me and returned to there conversation, in turn the lady had left the counter leaving the other lady confused as to what I was waiting for! Simply entrance to the pool and SPA. The relaxation was not to be as Aqua aerobic class was in full swing followed by water babies, capacity steam room and sauna with lots of people not showering prior to entering a capacity Jacuzzi or the pool. I have been to more relaxing SPAs however this is well run facility but way to busy to have a relaxing few hours.

Had a lovely stay here. And the little option to bid for an upgrade was great. Gym was amazing and the spin class with a telly to work on your own blew us away. Friendly staff also.

My family and I attended the Christmas Pantomime and meal for the second time, and for the second time both failed to disappoint. The food was fantastic, the service was amazing and the pantomime was as entertaining as you could wish for! I never fail to recommend The Village Hotel Cardiff to friends & family when they are looking for a venue for events or events to attend.

Nice hotel in general, good quality facilities and rooms but unfortunately a highly disruptive group of guests were staying next to us and creating a lot of noise and evidently damaging and the room and other guests' sleep. They were not dealt with swiftly by hotel staff despite our calls to reception, taking about 45 minutes before the first unheeded caution. The lack of staff response was very poor and probably down to the largely automated version of a reception desk, with what seems like fewer staff overall. It really spoiled what was otherwise a tremendous night in Cardiff.

Stayed overnight. Good rooms, nice food in restaurant, love the goose IPA in the bar, staff friendly and helpful as always. Gym facility is decent. Not used the pool but also looks decent.

Lovely hotel and great meeting place. Love the idea of the coffee shop in the entrance and the gym. Had great service and happy to go again Mike was very friendly at reception and very helpful and supportive. Ample car park space, the gym seemed very busy, though we did not get a chance to visit this time.

I booked a spa day for four of us to have a hot stone massage, and myself and a friend also added on an extra treatment each. When I booked the extras I was not told that as part of the hot stones treatment, they also do your face. So, imagine how irritating it was to have paid more than £30 for a treatment I was going to receive anyway as part of what I had already booked. In fact, the facial was better in the hot stones massage than the actual facial treatment itself! Anousha (I think that was the therapists name) was outstanding though. I have been to spas all over the world & it was by a million miles the best massage I have ever received. Hence the three stars. The other positive was the food we ordered as it was tasty, hot and served in a relaxed setting. On arrival I was very surprised at the lack of staff on the spa desk. It felt like we waited ages to be seen so no matter how lovely the staff were, the level of service suffered. When we first arrived there was a lady at the desk complaining about how she couldn't relax etc and that she wants a refund. I remember thinking at the time that she was probably exaggerating and complaining for no reason! I am very realistic though, I know they have a business to run and they are all about making money… however, I have to say I was beyond shocked to walk into the pool area on Saturday morning to find a pool full of kids having swimming lessons and their parents all around the pool.

You either love or hate the village style of hotels. Its a bit marmite. Here for a training course so the conference rooms were good and the hospitality with it was mostly what was needed. Some of the team could do with a customer care course. Requests seem to be met with a huff and a puff. Loos were nice and large and clean. However only one hand dryer working out of 6! Plenty of parking but you are asked on the way in if you are legitimately parking there by a very matter of fact attendant. Clearly they have route parkers.

Handily located on the junction of the M4 and A470 this is a great place for a quick meeting. There's a comfortable reception area, a Starbucks and a bar. The free Wi-Fi helps too.

It's an excellent place to meet for those small business meetings. Comfy chairs, free Wi-Fi and best of all a Starbucks on site!

Upon arrival we we're upgraded to 'club' amazing Décor, huge bed, tassimo coffee and sky movies included in the room. Best bed ever, so comfortable, excellent check in service, very modern and fast with fantastic customer service representatives on hand to help with anything you need (I requested a room at the back of the hotel and this was sorted in seconds). We then grabbed a table in the pub within the hotel for £1 burger night, pleasant food but drinks are expensive. Post burger we used the spa facilities, busy due to swimming lessons although quietened down towards 8pm which suited us. Very clean facilities. Lovely quite night, no noise heard. Insomniac husband had the best night sleep in years. Breakfast the next day is a real treat. We rose at 09.00 was greeted and seated instantly by Tristan our server and was offered an array of vegetarian options for my cooked selection. Plenty of lovely choice for all aspects of breakfast, although we did miss hashbrowns and Danish pastries. Check out was super efficient as was our billing (all automatic). Would definitely recommend.

Nice hotel and very conveniently located. The hotel is just off a major junction of the M4 in South Wales and is a popular choice amongst locals, travellers and business people. Very good facilities at the hotel including a coffee shop, bar, restaurant, gymnasium and pool. Decent value for money so well recommended.

I've rated Village Hotel Cardiff 2/5 because the primary function of a hotel is for the night's sleep received. To be fair the room we stayed in (in the 500's) was of the lower price range at £67 but still, a good night sleep is to be expected. The set of rooms and floor immediately surrounding us were/was peaceful however the bed itself was terrible. It was made up of seemingly 2 single beds in a frame and the middle dipped in. This meant with two of us sleeping one person ended up in the middle leaving the other right on the edge with no space. Additionally the floorboards throughout the establishment (that we traversed to get to our room, and those above our immediate room) were awfully creaky. … and there was no handsoap in the w. C. So we used the shower gel.

Reasonably priced rooms that offer a good night's rest. Only stayed here for a single night at a time but always had a clean room, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Walking distance to the city shops and the university.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel on the 15th July, the rooms were clean and comfortable however it doesn't matter how comfortable your room is when it is located directly above a function room and the music is played until 1:10am! At 11pm I asked the night manager what time the music would end and he told me it would end at 1am but he could not move us as the hotel was full. The next morning the manager told me that only guests attending the party should have been placed in these rooms and that I should complain using an email address he gave to me. It's been 5 days since I sent the email and have heard nothing, it was obviously a plot to get us out of the hotel as quick as possible. My advice to anyone wanting to sleep before 1am at the weekend, don't stay here!

I like this place very much. We are here every other month for comity meetings. Pleased to get good company and coffee and I enjoy the free Wi-Fi. Very popular place and permanent crowded. Used especially for spa and business meetings. Recommended for groups and events at any kind.

Leisure facilities at the venue were excellent. Staff were very accommodating when we turned up and our room was not yet ready. Lovely staff in the Verve restaurant and rooms were modern and very well looked after.

Very friendly staff with a nice layout. Soundproofing is appalling as can hear a lot of what goes on in neighbouring rooms and the music from bar downstairs. Also the room doors slam shut so the whole corridor can hear. And why no plugs next to the bed in this day and age?

I use the leisure facilities at the club, they are fantastic facilities and offer something for everyone. There is also a great family feel and the staff are always welcoming. Members get discounts in the restaurants and bar too which comes in very handy.

Location — Ok (although far from central Cardiff) Room — Poor. Old, dated (although currently under renovation). Housekeeping was poor. Mattress topper was stained with pool of blood. Bath ceiling was mouldy. When moved to a different room (which to the hotel's credit was done promptly), the room was cold and reliant on small connector heater. Food — Breakfast buffet was excellent but more expensive than advertised. Leisure Facilities — Pool seemed good, however my 2yr old quickly developed bacterial eye conjunctivitis after swim.

Located on a quiet area neighbouring an Asda & McDonald's. The hotel is very clean & the staff are very friendly. The restaurant & bar has a good atmosphere with reasonable prices. 3 things I was not happy with & could be isolated incidents. 1. My partner's bathrobe went missing (could not be found by the hotel staff) 3. No hot water on checkout day leading to a cold wash before leaving. 2. Whilst loading the car my room card lost its programing and locked us out of the room. After the 3rd attempt of the staff reprogramming the card I insisted that the staff accompanied me to let me into my room. On return to the cleaner let my partner into the room. (I understand she was trying to be helpful but my partner could have been anyone which leads me back to my 1st point) I must say that I normally have a good experience at De Veres Village Hotels but on this occasion I was not happy)

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel almost annually for a long weekend break over the last 6 or 7 years. Great service in the Victory pub, fantastic breakfast. Great pool, sauna and massage facility. The Standard rooms are a little small, but are comfortable and they have free Wi-Fi access. Generally the staff are always helpful. The one downside as far as I am concerned is that the man restaurants menu is limited, whilst they do great food in the pub, if you want a more relaxed meal there is not a huge choice especially for me being a Veggi. Otherwise an excellent hotel.

The gym is amongst the most expensive in Cardiff and yet is a complete joke. The most annoying are the cleaners who start working before it closes making the remaining people feel like animals in a zoo, yet it's still as dirty. Sometimes they close the swimming pool earlier, if you are the late-comer there's a good chance you'll miss on that. The refurbishment of changing rooms in 2013 took almost 4 months during which time a tiny crappy room was provided as a replacement – it takes less time to build a new hotel with a gym. I changed a fair number of gyms in the past 10 years, it feels the management team is the dumbest and the most inconsiderable of all here. Can't wait to move to a different place….

We stay here quite often due to its large pool, decent sized family rooms, proximity to relatives and efficient staff. I like a relaxed hotel with helpful, non-intrusive staff, tolerance towards children and a decent breakfast — this hotel does all that and is close enough to the relatives to visit and the m4 to get back home again. It does seem to have become a little shabbier over the years (been going for many yrs) but still a nice chain, clean, comfy and kids love the pool. My one whinge is that they have too many lessons in the pool which takes away some swimming area and the swimming teachers are a bit 'soviet' and rude.

Not the best hotel, bit of a shambles for a big chain but that's probably a good thing. They aren't pretentious and are very relaxed about people coming in and using the facilities. The pub is great, not like the usual dross in a hotel and recently a lick of paint and a Starbucks in the main foyer has made it all look a bit cheap. The place is really busy and awash with business people meeting up and yummy mummy's using the gym, so the atmosphere is lively rather than relaxed. It's right on junction 32 of the M4 so really convenient.

Noisy and poor inconsistent food. Staff were pleasant enough but ineffective at controlling the environment or noise rather. Make sure you stay on the second floor because its basically a gym and disco with rooms to stay above.
