Dined for our 35th Wedding Anniversary, Authentic Italian restaurant, lovely decor, food amazing, complement to chef Pietro, sea bass out of this world.
Staff absolutely fab, polite, welcoming, nothing to much trouble.

Had a very enjoyable experience at Elgano on Sunday for my mum's birthday. The food was superb! Had 3 courses but didn't feel overstuffed, it was just the right amount of food. The pizzas looked amazing so will definitely try one of those next time! Had pasta this visit and it was fresh and rich and full of flavour but not overpowering. The decor in the restaurant is very modern and the garden area looks like it would be beautiful on a summer afternoon. The facilities were clean and easily located. The staff were fabulous, speaking to us in Italian and Welsh! Very polite and attentive. Can't comment on value/price as my dad very kindly paid the bill but the menu appeared well priced and having sampled the food, I'd say you definitely get what you pay for. The only thing that tainted the first hour or so of our visit was the table of rowdy drunk people behind us who were treating the restaurant like more of a pub and swearing and generally being disruptive. But that's no reflection on the food and the service and when they finally naffed off the atmosphere was so much more relaxed and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Will definitely be visiting again!

Took friends there last night, all eight of us loved are food from the pizza, to the fish and pasta. Had a great buzz as very busy and the service was excellent. Thank you once again for a great night.

One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating in. It is rare I use the word exceptional when it comes to eating out, but I will use it here — faultless food, quick service, very reasonable prices, friendly and attentive staff, warm and cosy environment. Flawless!

Even though it was the only Italian we did during our trip in Wales, I have no reason to doubt they earn there price of best Italian in Wales in 2017. Staff was friendly, food was great. Although they were fully booked on a Sunday evening, since we were early, they still offered us a table.

Nice little restaurant! Maybe it was because I was expecting too much but it was good, not amazing though. Cute location and interior and great staff that gave it an authentic Italian feel. I never like TV screens in restaurants unfortunately and the actual food quality seemed average hence the 4 stars. But over all great value and an experience I woold recommend.

Me and my gf went there for the third time on Valentine's day, was a set menu but the food was excellent as always. Staff very friendly and a family run atmosphere. Probably the best Italian food I've eaten.

Fantastic location: With 3 beautiful fields (Llandaff, Pontcana, Blackweir) and Bute park all in minutes walk away, it's got abundant nature in the neighbourhood. It's also very close to the city centre and a fantastic place for visiting cricket, rugby and cricket fans/players considering its location (next to the Swalec stadium and a few minutes walk to the Millennium stadium). They also have an Italian restaurant now which offers lovely food and a bar (and if they don't have what you want, there are loads other great ones on the same street within minutes walk. Oh, and despite the close approximation to the city centre, Cathedral Rd is a quiet fantastic area. Did I mention they've got a secure gated car park at the back.

Triple room a little cramped. Nice and clean and warm. Lovely people. Excellent breakfast. Expected it to be noisy so close to busy road, but it wasn't at all. Good location too.

I stayed at the Elgano Hotel in October 2014. The room itself was modern and clean, with a really smart looking en-suite and I received a friendly welcome. I will however mention a few points which were disappointing. I stayed on a Friday night, and when I went for breakfast at 9 on the Saturday morning, I found that they had stopped serving cooked breakfast at 8:30am. I think this is too early to stop serving, particularly on a weekend. There was also a function going on downstairs, which didn't really bother me, but my room was right above it and it was very noisy. I can imagine it would be frustrating for someone who wanted an early night. On the whole though, the price wasn't bad and the room was comfortable. Just a shame I couldn't get breakfast.

I would not eat there agian if the man himself (elgan davis) payed to! so if you want to spend a nite in a&e? stay well away from the place.
