My boyfriend just stopped in to pick up a flat white for me and a double espresso for himself. He said the ordering was a little awkward and not very welcoming, though the place is very cute and pretty busy. My flat white is one of the worst I’ve ever had. It’s got a terrible burnt flavor with no creaminess, just bitterness. His espresso has the same bad taste. Considering the good reviews for this place, I’m sure this was a fluke. Still, we will be returning to The Bear to get our coffee for the rest of our holiday.

Stopped here on the way to Solva and had Tea and Bara Brith but was impressed so decided to stop on the way home. We had Southern Fried Chicken, chips cooked 3 times (delicious) and a lovely fresh salad dressed with balsamic. The food is simple but first class and the staff are efficient and lovely. Thoroughly recommended.

Nice coffe shop in the area! Good coffee and menu choice. However, the place is very close to the street and when there's traffic, it's basically impossible to hear other people talking. But if you are in the area, this place is perfect for your coffee break.

Stayed only one night on the way to Tenby but we were made very welcome by hosts lynne and Alan. The room was a great size with an assortment of water and biscuits. The bath was a great size and deep, just what you want after a long drive. Breakfast was beautifully cooked as well. Will definitely stay again if passing through llandovery.

Literally the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. Spotless! The shower was also very nice. The owners (Allan and Lynne) were super friendly and very helpful. The breakfast as well was so nice, we could order anything we wanted and the coffee was perfect! Definitely would recommend staying here!

Food is fantastic and the coffee is to die for, seriously it's coffee is probably the best I've had in this country and if your a B&B guest it's free and unlimited. Very friendly and helpful staff and cycling friendly, definitely will be our b&b of choice for our yearly Llandovery racing weekend.

Allan and Lynne are wonderful hosts, and Allan makes the best cappuccinos on the planet, even the Independent agrees! Excellent locally sourced food and right in the centre of Llandovery, our fave place to stay in this part of Wales.

Excellent service, lovely staff and the most delicious Painted Salad, a bed of mixed leaves, peppers, onions, cucumber, topped with creamy coleslaw, chicken breast, slice of bacon and a beautifully poached egg. All drizzled with a balsamic dressing, garlic flavoured in my case. Gorgeous! And what I especially liked was I could have a smaller 'light' version, which was more than enough for my appetite. All for £5.95. Superb value and quality eating. Thank you.

Just returned from a lovely weekend spent at penygawse. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Lynne one of the owners was so very friendly giving us a lovely warm welcome and lots of information about the events going on in the town. Our room was lovely and cosy and the bed was oh so comfortable ensuring a perfect nights sleep. Breakfast was stunning so tasty made with excellent quality ingredients and the choice was immense. Amother bonus was as much complimentary beverages that you wanted during your stay. Will definitely return.

One of the best coffees you'll find anywhere, though not surprising as the owner is a barista trainer.
