Good experience. We work away a lot and this was a nice change from the normal premier inns that we normally end up in. Good friendly staff. Jon the night porter is a top lad. He gets problems sorted out. Thumbs up.
I’m Gluten free. Shaky start but John the night Porter sorted it all out when I chatted with him at the bar on the first night because our first morning I didn’t receive a full English breakfast. Instead I got a cold plate, cold scrambled eggs which were very dry and smoked salmon. I was told I could only have poached or scrambled eggs but they had gluten free toast. I booked the hotel as they promised me they would cater for me. John said there was different chef on our first morning but he would make sure I would get one from now on. I did received a full English breakfast which was delicious made by the regular chef Stefan. Staff were so accommodating afterwards so much so the whole family about 27 of us booked our Sunday lunch. Chef Stefan cooked us a great meal. Such a shame our first day was tainted. I’ve given 4 stars only because the hotel is a bit scruffy, noisy floorboards and cobwebs on the ceiling of our room and loose tobacco in one of the drawers. As we were packing we noticed a huge black spider on the ceiling. One of the hotel workers managed to get it. I knew there was a spider in the room because of all the cobwebs. Sofa was broken and uncomfortable to sit on so couldn’t understand why it was in our room. We both couldn’t sit on it as we were rolling into each other. We would come back here again as we had a lovely ground floor room with a walk-in wet room and I hope John and Stefan will still be here.

Chef must of been having a bad day. Absolutely the worst macaroni cheese I've ever had in my life! how anyone could get it so wrong is beyond me!? Plain pasta cooked within an inch of its life covered with grated cheese, grilled until the oil in the cheese created a puddle around the pasta, disgusting!
