Would not recommend paid 160 to stay here mainly for the spa we were not aloud to check in till late and the spa closed at 4.45 they knew we were coming for the spa and did not care to tell us how early it closed we managed to get 35 mins in there was not happy at all. Goes up to our hotel room to find it was still minging so That was very annoying and to top it of we went down for breckfast the next morning to come home with food poisoning by 6pm, I rang to explain the situation to get told there’s nothing they can do he asked if I ate anywhere else the night before witch I explained I didn’t I only had food from there they just didn’t want to take any kind of responsibility not even a sorry was giving no manners what so ever. This was our first time staying there not knowing there was a bar underneath the hotel our room was right on top of the bar left me with no sleep if your looking for somewere relaxing wouldn’t nor recommend at all the spa is manky can tell it does not get looked after no relaxation to it what so ever.

The check in process was quick with friendly staff who asked if I needed help with my luggage. The foyer is beautiful and the bar was comfortable. However, my room on the 4th floor was small and dark and tatty, in need of refurbishment.

Was so disappointed at this hotel booked for pool and sauna but don't expect this to be open as non of the times are correct or closes when you check in complained but there response is not customer friendly … the reception staff were lovely and fully agreed they were in the wrong and even said the Web was out of date offered 20.00 but the managers response was that you book the room not the facility which is the main reason we booked … I would of expected a better response from the manager.

Its absolutely disgusting, dated, dirty and falling apart. Do not waste your money.

Some how this hotel and management seem to think a £25 refund on a £182 pound a night hotel is resonable i. Have no words! the room was filthy had not been cleaned atal from the night before only bed had been changed! I chose not to public post this on here in the respect and hope they would resolve this and issue a refund! But they have not do so.

I would recommend. However I would recommend a good clean too. Place is pretty bad. Great location. Nice staff.

We stayed here for 2 nights the room was huge but still warm & cosy, the beds are so comfy we had a huge bathroom with shower & bath the staff were helpful, polite & cheery. The hotel is spotless added bonus is you just pop out back across a small car park & you are in the train station. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice we also had dinner which again was lovely I would highly recommend this hotel.

Thankyou so much to Tracey and her team for my amazing wedding! Giving everything that’s gone on it still turned out to be a great day/night. Nothing was an issue everything was perfect. All the guests had amazing time and the wedding breakfast meal was amazing and the evening buffet was huge. Thankyou from the new mr & mrs Dack… I’m so chuffed you got to see it Tracey after working with me for so long. 🥂

Nice for the money. No disabled access atall tho. We just had a pushchair and was hardwork. Very noisy on the night but thats expected in the centre. Thought parking should be free but we had to pay £15. Shout out to the new porter Michael, he could have been more helpful. Thanks to him.

Viry nice hotel in the heart of Newcastle. Train station next door so handy if you're travelling. Very professional staff and ultra clean. Rooms are very nice and contain everything you should need and it's really worth paying for the all you can eat breakfast. There are very limited parking spaces and they are given out on a first come, first served basis. Highly recommended.

Discreet traditional hotel with restaurant service and breakfast. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable sofa and equipped with minibar with water, juice and complimentary treat. The bathroom was great although there were some midges both days when we were guests of the property. The location is very central and very well served, being almost attached to the station and a 10-minute walk from the points of interest downtown. In general I would recommend the property if you want a hotel in the centre of Newcastle.

Lovely hotel. Helpful staff. Pool and other facilities. Room we had was for 4 singles and was better than we had expected comprising of 2 single beds in 2 rooms and a lovely large bathroom. Fridge with milk, juice, water and biscuits was a nice touch too. Would definetly recommend.

A lovely hotel with a pretty good gym. As close to the rail station as can be, you are also well located to get into the city centre. Only complaints would be train noise at night, and the heat (we did start during the heat wave though so not really a big fault there! )

Great location and well connected. As such it can be pretty noisy but earplugs are provided. Amazing foyer and nice bar area. Our standard double room was smaller than expected however given the pics on the website, so much so we checked with reception to ensure we hadn't been allocated the 'small double room' instead. Would stay again!

Room my mother was in, very dated and filthy. Carpet and curtains and basically filthy and really in need of updating a bit. The woman who cleaned had a lot of rooms to do alone. There were dried noodles and stuff, in tea kettle. Which is gross. The towels were not fresh. The building is absolutely gorgeous. The lobby and public area had some amazing, original features.

Perfect for when you arrive late at night from the station. Good breakfast in the morning. Unfortunately the room was very hot, and I was on the side of the Trainline so quite noisy at 5 Inthe morning, trains getting started. The hotel inside is nice thought, quite stylish feel. Room was on the small side but great big bathroom and shower so that was a plus.

A super hotel in an excellent location. Stylish and elegant and right next to central station it's always worth keeping an eye because good room rates are often available — which is always good to save a few quid on : the rooms are large and very nice, massively recommended oh, free Wi-Fi as well — always a strong plus.

We love this hotel… centrally located, free parking, leisure centre. Great breakfasts. Came to see Bryan Ferry at the City Hall, which was about a 15 min walk away. Been coming here for a number of years and wouldnt stay anywhere else. Thanks again.

On arriving as it was during the week parking was easy at the front. The reception was spacious and stylish. The receptionist was very helpful. The room was large 2 x double bed 2x shower one in bath. Very clean and comfy complimentary drinks and chocolate as standard 40" flat screen television. Very little noise from street.

Loved this hotel. The room was great as it was a good size and the bathroom was spotless. This is an historic hotel and is well looked after considering. The architecture is typical of victorian times and in its day this was possibly the grandest hotel in Newcastle. The staff were very friendly and the prices at the bar were reasonable. All our requests were catered for. The fitness suite was fantastic! The pool was warm and a reasonable size and a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are also available for those who wish to use this kind of facility. I would recommend this hotel and will stay again. The only issue was with the noise at night were people returning to their rooms late could be disturbing at times… but otherwise was very satisfied with our stay.

Location is spot on in the middle of Newcastle next to the station. It has around 20 spaces for car parking but is first come first served, if you cannot get a space then you can park in the station but it's around £16 for 24 hours. The hotel has some great character and I must say all the staff we dealt with were top class. They also have a health spa you can use as a guest which has a steam room, sauna, plunge pool, Jacuzzi and swimming pool of good quality. Our room was fine with a large bathroom with shower and bath and twin beds. The only downsides were being woken up at around 5.00 am both days by glasses being collected very noisily outside! The beds were also not the best I have had, and parts of the bathroom were missing e. G. No front on taps in shower, cracking plaster on ceiling. Small things that mean it doesn't get 5 stars from me.

Beautiful, but overpriced and HOT. The room was £123 for a compact double which overlooked the noisy train station and had no air conditioning making it impossible to sleep comfortably. In fact, I got up at around 4am to go and cool down outside. The staff were great and the building itself gorgeous, but wouldn't recommend for a stay. Best go there to use the restaurant; and stay elsewhere.

Stay one night for business, in January single room murky and very small large bathroom very cold (no radiator) Classic Breakfast Only the lobby of the hotel is beautiful.

Great location next to railway station with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The metro arena is only 10minute walk away and city centre shop similar distance. Check in was good, friendly staff and our room was on first floor, this is a traditional old fashioned hotel with modern room. Our room was a double but spacious enough, complimentary drinks and snacks in fridge. Ensuite was a disabled bathroom but modern and very clean. Overall a great hotel in fantastic location, nice room and would definitely stay again, albeit our recent visit was just a short one. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and highly commend the staff for their politeness and helpfulness. I am looking forward to staying again in the future.

Great customer service — we were given a room upgrade at No extra cost. Room was very spacious, clean and modern. No complaints at all. Would return again.

It was fine for a stag do, wouldn't bring my wife. They took a deposit of £60 (which was Both annoying and odd for a Hotel) for our room and wouldn't give us it back until the whole group had checked out. We had to leave for a train therefore we didn't get our deposit back from them. They also wouldn't let me have any breakfast as it was after 10 a. M. Even though the buffet was out full of breakfast and nobody was there to eat it. Literally they let food go to waste rather than let a hungry guest eat it! Room was clean though and good location.

It is a station hotel. Steeped in history as close to the station as it could be. It's plush but comfortable. The Empire restaurant is very welcoming with a small but carefully chosen wine list. The Rare Vineyards Malbec being particularly acceptable. The crab fishcakes to start were exquisite.

Full of features, clean, 2 minutes travel on foot to the trainstation. Food top quality very friendly staff. Worthy it! Although bit noisy as near the train station.

This is a superb hotel. The location is very central and right on the train station. The rates are very reasonable and you get more than in a similarly priced 'budget' hotel. We were in a superior double room and it was thoroughly pleasant and very comfortable. I would totally recommend this to anyone visiting or staying in Newcastle.

Absolutely loved this hotel. went here for out 2 year anniversary and the hotel left us a lovely note and treats. The room was immaculate and the staff were all incredibly friendly … especially the housekeeping staff. We will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you for making our night so special.

Very good Hotel. Directly at the train station and the old town. It was a really great stay for the Rugby world Cup 2015.

Nice hotel with good size rooms. We booked a standard one but finally they give us a bigger one with no over cost. Good value for money.

Lovely old oppulent place. Shame not much parking. Room was clean and a good size but just a tiny bit more effort on the soft furnishing would have been great e. G. Only 2 pillows on a huge double bed? Also the bed scatter cushions where a bit flat and tired. I waited in the foyer for 30min and nobody asked me why I was there? Fine by me but perhaps these days could be a security risk? Definitely would go back. Liked it more than Malmaison! Haven't tried the spa or the restaurant yet but would next time.

Tired old hotel, the room cost £125 but was no better than a Premier Inn. Only plus was the excellent restaurant, although the cocktail bar is a let down.

This hotel states "free parking" on the Newcastle Hotels website. When you try and book it the hotels states — public parking there may be a charge….

It's ok it's just bed bugs.

Stayed here between 2nd to the 5th of August. The location is great and is in the centre of the city with great access to shops and the train station. We arrived very early in the morning of our arrival date, our room wasn't ready which was fair enough as it was being used the night before. We came back after a couple of hours to find the room still wasn't ready, but the receptionist upgraded us straight away to what she called "a nicer room". I was happy with outcome and thought it worked out for the best. But when I got to the room I just got a bad feeling about it. First of all the room was like absolute sauna and was extremely stuffy. There was no air con in the room and none in the hotel seemingly had any as it was an old building. There wasn't even a fan in the room and I had to go out of my way to request this. One of the windows wouldn't open and the other main window only opened a small amount. The decor was ok, and was in keeping with the building. The bathroom however was lovely and modern and the shower was great, even though the bath didn't have a hose? The food in the hotel was ok and was fairly priced. The spa area was nice and is a lovely addition to the hotel. But I just can't get passed how uncomfortable the room was between heat and the very uncomfortable mattress and pillows. I had to request towels for my room one day, we went to the pool area and requested these on the way past the reception. On our way back an hour or.

Stayed as a last minute desision with friends who were visiting from sweden. Checked in fine, went out for drinks to return to an obtuse bouncer on the door with clipboard who refused to let me in as my name wasn't down. Tried to explain it had been last minute but full price had been paid but he was totally unsympathetic and turned me away in the small hours of the morning and I had to wait for the next train home. Obviously, as a young woman this was incredibly traumatic and very unexpected. I would advise anyone to think again when considering this discraceful hotel.

I booked into this hotel because we where not left with many other options as it was new years eve, after reading some of the reviews I was not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Staff checked us in quickly without any issues, the lobby was beautiful and couldn't help but be impressed with the chandeliers and considering the age of the hotel it still looks good. The room was classic style but had all the modern touches you required e. G plasma screen, modern bathroom and internet access (although I never used the internet as it was NYE party time) Room was clean and bed was comfy, in our room the old windows where still in place and the new set inside this provided good noise protection and made the room feel warm (not sure what would happen in a fire! Breakfast was pretty standard but worth the money. Down side for me was the parking, we had to park in the train station car park it was £6 Hotel is in a fantastic place and I think the pros outweigh the cons so I don't know why people are twisting about this hotel it's decent for the money and makes a change for the ultra modern boxes people class as hotels now.
