Very high standards, decor, cleanliness & food, excellent value highly recomend.

Was a good hotel but didn’t cater for gluten free good job I took my own cereal and bread with me I was only offered fruit for my breakfast wasn’t happy.

Ill mannered receptionist worst hotel ive ever encountered would not take our scottish money incase of counterfeit notes! theyre chip & pin was broke & they wanted paid up front we couldnt get checked in til we paid after travelling from Glasgow we had to jump a bus into town to catch a bank before closing! no TV signal so sat without TV channels. When we went to pay the receptionist said it will take a while when we asked for a receipt so we said its ok we will have a drink while we wait from the bar to my astonishment he said " well what do you want a receipt or a drink I cant be in two places at once! fawlty towers woulve been better.

Room was okay, bathroom quite nice and comfy beds. However, appalling staff manners. Don't know how they get customers with their attitude. Disgusting behaviour.

Lovely Derek was host. Nice comfortable. Fab breakfast too. Great value x.

Location is ok. The staff is amazing. The rooms are nice but with this old english touch, if you like that it is great.

Clean room but bed sheets were stained and had hairs. Bed was comfy but not steady, it would easily move on wheels. Shower did not have anywhere to put your shampoo/shower gel/conditioner etc. And it was leaking a bit. Staff was friendly. Booked parking as well but we could hardly park as there was never space so most of the time we had to park on the road. Otherwise all ok.

The description was accurate for the hotel. It had a nice large bathroom but per some of the reviews, there was no place to hang your shampoo and body wash in the shower. Even the body wash provided by the hotel was on the sink. Having the rain shower and the handheld made for an enjoyable shower. Breakfast cost £7.00 pp and it was a filling breakfast with many choices. It was well worth the price we paid. As for the service. We found the staff very pleasant particularly the man at the reception. He was friendly and offered suggestions of where to walk to find a nice evening meal.

Clean room, a bit dated hotel but good staff especially the maid service. If only they could give attention to small things, no shelf in the shower or basin area and the shower door broken, hair dryer not working.

BOOK WITH CAUTION! Previous visits here had been fairly positive, despite the cooked breakfast swimming in grease and toast repeatedly arriving at the table cold, plus very limited parking space (which means many guests arrive to find they have to park on the pavement outside and are less than happy about it as the street doesn't feel entirely safe). However on the most recent visit the hotel lift smelt something akin to a sewer, staff were overhead spoking derisively about guests behind their back, and from a personal point of view the reviewer was subjected to a verbal tirade from the hotel manager for having the temerity to make a complaint (namely that when he told the manager the reason why he was slightly late in vacating his room was that he was feeling unwell, the manager's response was to say that he didn't care). Other guests who had reason to complain also sometimes received a less than polite reception. In fairness, it has to be said that the cause of this basic lack of hospitality could well have been the fact that both front of house tasks and administrative duties were assigned to one person when at peak times there was frequently more than enough work to keep two members of staff fully occupied.

Worst ever staff I ever encountered at a hotel. Arrived at 01:30 in the morning after 2 days of travelling and end up being shouted at and pushed put bu the arrogant receptionist. Stay away as I wouldn’t want my worse enemy to meet a person like him. I will continue using all available channels to show how I was treated by this arrogant receptionist. Never ever happened in my life where I jump from one hotel to another in Europe.

A well appointed, little hotel. Located in near Sefton Park, this hotel is elegant and comfortable, though some could say the decor is a little dated. The facilities in the rooms are adequate and functional, the showers are particularly good. The staff are very friendly, helpful and hardworking, doing all they can to make your stay is enjoyable.

Hotel is very well located in Liverpool within a short walk of Lark Lane. Great facilities and the rooms are well equipped with a great up to date bathroom. Very warm in the rooms but they do provide a fan too which is a nice touch. Really liked that late night entry is permitted with your room card when the doors are locked, no calling reception, and breakfasts lovely too the next morning.

Good hotel! Room upgraded for free. Wow! A couple of fittings could do with nipping up perhaps, but the rooms was beautiful. Breakfast just as good! And super friendly staff. Very comfortable here. We'll be back.

Good price, room was comfortable even if it did look out at the car park! Breakfast buffet was very reasonable.

Decent enough hotel a bit pricey but then again everywhere in Liverpool seems to be for some unknown reason? the rooms are large with big bathrooms that have a bath and shower. Didn't try breakfast but at £7 it's cheap enough however I think it should be included in the price. The free bottles of water in the rooms is a nice touch too. I recommend it highly.

Great shower! Room was a little cramped with two beds in, but decent enough. Well adorned. Window opened onto main road, so was a little noisy. But that shower. Go there for the shower!

Just back from an overnight stay at this lovely hotel. Staff are wonderful, very friendly and welcoming with good knowledge of the local area. We had a couple of drinks in the bar before heading to Lark Lane for dinner. Lovely clean rooms, comfortable, couldn't fault anything. Breakfast was lovely, good quality ingredients and again the staff were very attentive, nothing too much trouble. We will definitely returning.

My parents stayed here for a week at the beginning of September they absolutely loved it. I visited for buffet breakfast a couple of mornings it was really good. Hotel is really clean staff are friendly and helpful. Easy and quick to get into city centre as well. The actual room was very spacious with everything you could need. My parents and myself would definitely go back to The Mountford… GREAT HOTEL.

Cracking hotel that's perfect if you're travelling on from Liverpool or stating for a couple of days. Good breakfast too!

About 5 mins south-east of the city centre by car, this is little gem and few people could be disappointed if they chose to stay here. The staff are some of the most welcoming I've encountered and go out of their way to ensure you visit is a pleasant one. Perhaps not surprisingly then, guests seem to enjoy congregating in the small bar and lounge for a few drinks in the evenings, and there's a pool table to keep children entertained. Certainly everyone I encountered was having a very jolly time and quite a number stayed up chatting into the early hours. The decor feels more like that you'd find in an upmarket country hotel and the rooms are well-appointed with extremely comfortable beds. Breakfasts are fairly standard but very reasonable in price. Whilst the relatively narrow stairs (although there is a small lift) and steps up to the front door might be an issue for some people, if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Liverpool on a modest budget you'd be a fool not to give the Mountford serious consideration.

Lovely building and very friendly and proffesional staff. Attractive older building, modern conveniences tied with period detail. Suprisingly spacious rooms. Few minor niggles that visitors should be aware of, but do not detract from high rating: Parking is limited and first come first served. They squeeze quite a few cars in but there is a risk of having to park on street. Because of the age of the rooms if other guests are being noisy you will hear it, not a common occurence however and staff did address this with those guests. Check your room door as you leave. Ours had an apparently known intermittent fault (specific to the room) that meant the lock sometimes didn't engage on leaving. It didn't happen often and was easily resolved by reentering and leaving the room again but had we not spotted it our room would have been left unlocked. Breakfast team are excellent but obviously can be hard to find at busy times. Also I gather you should disregard the 'please wait to be seated' sign at breakfast. It is apparently from the evening and breakfast is a buffet/seat yourself affair. Sadly I believed the sign on my first morning and was waiting a little foolishly for a while. Allowing for that an excellent hotel with parking and bus stop immediately outside.

Stayed her for 1 night on tuesday 21 july absolutley fantastic hotel wish we had been staying longer it should be 5 star as its what you would expect to find in a 5 star hotel in london, even though it only recently opened you woudnt have thought so the staff and owners were real pefesionals at there work nothing too much trouble verry polite and helpfull. Cant wait for thhe restaruant to open in the evening as it should be bril going by breakfast well cooked and presented staff in the morning exellent they go that extra bit to please rooms brill especially for price I would pay more if I had too for standered cant wait to come back and I wish you all the best luck for the future we stayed in room 12 little bit small but they have bigger room great room though with flat screen TV 5 star bed linen and bath towells ect coudnt fault hopefully see you at xmas colin barr.
