Lovely staff, and food for my son and daughter in laws wedding venue thank you so much for a marvellous day.

Fabulous lunch & such friendly service.

Thank to all the staff at the Barnsdale Lodge for a fantastic stay. We booked 1 night with dinner, bed and breakfast for a long awaited family get together. We had 5 bedrooms (9 people), all rooms were exceptionally comfortable and well presented, with great outlooks. For Saturday evening we had the Pheasant room (private dining area), which was a perfect setting and the menu thoroughly enjoyed by all. With the beautiful Rutland water area to explore this was a truly special weekend, and we will be back.

Scenic setting close to Rutland water. Barnsdale is a comfortable, clean hotel with lots of character. The staff were friendly and attentive, and service for meals was prompt. Only niggle was the evening meal. My partner and I eat a mainly plant based diet. There was only one vegetarian choice on the menu which wasnt to our taste. We had cod therefore and whilst the fish was well cooked the accompanying broth was tasteless. The dessert of treacle tart was also very dry and hard. A shame as otherwise a very pleasant stay.

Lovely room for a wedding reception and bar staff were perfect! Lovely grounds and all round great venue.

Our first stay here, and not disappointed, definitely won’t be our last visit. Room is lovely, large and immaculate. In the restaurant the food was superb. All staff are lovely including the receptionist and restaurant and bar staff! Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow and to see what’s about.

My husband and I visited The Lodge for a special birthday celebration. We have stayed previously for various functions/celebrations and have returned having enjoyed our experience. In September we were disappointed and dissatisfied with the service we received. When voicing these concerns to the reception team as we payed our bill, we were offered no apologies. I have since rang and emailed and have been falsely reassured that I will have a response from the general manager. This has not happened. We are utterly appalled that we have received no response. Dreadful customer service.

Lovely farmhouse feel with a beautiful orangery and courtyard. Restaurant food is gorgeous. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff.

I recently stayed a Barnsdale Lodge for a family wedding. The lodge itself is beautiful and tranquil and well worth a visit. I stayed with my immediate family in an adapted Retreat which are situated across the street in a small gated community. The lodge is very spacious with high end decor and very well equipped. The only thing I found slightly difficult is the width of the doorways in the bedroom and ensuite wet room, although there was sliding doors it was difficult to manouvre a shower chair around the corners into each room.
Special thanks go to Emmie, Stephanie and Alison, these three ladies are amazing.

They have hosted hunt meets in the past. To Barnstaple Lodge: The whole world is watching, please stop funding cruel and illegal hunting. Don’t fund blood sports. Evolve! People don't want that when they search for a peaceful break or holidays.

Very nice hotel in a lovely quiet location close to Rutland Water. The food was delicious and the service great too, I stayed in one of the lodge rooms and it was very clean and tidy, would definitely stay there again.

Stayed overnight. Situated very close to Rutland Water and is an ideal base for sight-seeing. Lodge itself is situated round a courtyard — a pleasant place to have a meal and drink. Room was fine. No complaints.

Had a lovely cousins gathering in April. Looking forward to April 2019 to see everyone again. Good food. Bedrooms lovely. Had a lovely boat ride & walks.

Yesterday, we held my mother-in-law's 80th birthday lunch at Barnsdale Lodge. We expected it to be good but from the moment we got there to the time we left, it was terrific. The service was attentive but not overwhelming, the private dining room was simple and elegant and the food was fantastic. The only thing I can say is that the menu doesn't do the food justice as it was simply delicious as everything worked together beautifully. To top it off, the bill was excellent value for the overall experience we had. I would have no hesitation in recommending Barnsdale Lodge to anyone.

Lovely hotel, very helpful staff, breakfast was excellent. Only bad point — our rooms were unbearably warm. A fan was provided but our room was still extremely difficult to sleep in. Not the fault of the hotel though, and they did provide us with as much ice as we asked for.

Beautiful setting near Rutland Water. Smart restaurant with attentive staff and excellent food. Prices start from £6 starters, £18 for a main course and £6 for dessert. Good wine selection. Large car park and beautiful grounds. A visit here is always special, whether for lunch, Afternoon Tea or evening.

Overall this was a disappointing visit when measured against high expectations. There were two main issues. First too many of the staff are offhand or even rude. I’m afraid reception is a great example of this. You seem too often to take customers for granted. My enquiry if I could check in early was quickly dismissed without any interest in why I had made the request.
I must say there were exceptions, the two younger members of staff in the bar and restaurant were polite and attentive Secondly the decor and furnishings in our bedroom were a mishmash which did nothing to convey a quality country hotel. The students ikea wardrobe was the best example. I do love your conservatory and courtyard. Just do some customer service training… please!

We went for lunch not to stay. The food and service are very good. Sat in the pretty courtyard in the sun and watched all the bird life… sparrows and chaffinches in abundance. My only advice would be not to let smokers spoil the main courtyard… they could be sent elsewhere. I am sure the place is large enough to accommodate this. Otherwise it spoils it for others sitting outside eating and drinking or just enjoying the air.

A nice hotel that was very accommodating with being dog friendly. The room was very nice and comfy and the facilities throughout appeared to be of a high standard, comfortable and cosy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only criticism is though the food was tasty and well prepared it was slightly over priced. For meals of that price I wouldn't expect to be upsold extras to make the meal complete and filling, just include everything on the plate that should be there. Saying that, everything was cooked very well and couldn't be faulted on taste or presentation.

I went to a wedding reception in the barn. I was happy with the parts of the hotel that I did see but I can't comment any further as I did not stay overnight or have any food. Drinks are pricey.

A lovely hotel. We had a superior room with extra bed for our daughter. Nice spacious room with a beautiful view across the fields and cows. Food in restaurant was delicious. Staff very helpful. Breakfast busy but staff coped well (we were in a large group). We were only there for 2 nights but felt like a mini holiday.

Lovely place, just stopped for drinks and snacks this time as quick visit to area. Have stayed in hotel on quite a few occasions and always enjoyed the experience. Look forward to my next stay here.

We stayed overnight and attended a wedding reception in the function room. Both were wonderful. The food was brilliant and the staff were all helpful and friendly. My daughter left a cuddly toy behind and the staff were brilliant funding it and posting it back to us, charging no more than the postage cost unlike some places. We would definitely stay there again.

Described as dog friendly but way better than we expected. First time in a hotel with our dog Eddie and couldn’t have asked for more. Everyone was very friendly and not only accommodated us but also cared for our dog which we could take into the bar area and for breakfast where a table was laid especially for us. Eddie was given treats and water and loved the walks just behind the hotel through the meadow and along the field with cows. Dog waste bins and even poo bags are provided. We stayed in a superior room which was spacious, cosy and comfortable. Minor improvement would be a better hair dryer. Staff very friendly. Will definitely return. Five woofs from Eddie and five stars from us.

Food is Lovely, the rooms are basic but comfortable, no black out curtains so very light in room if you over face the court yard. The rooms are hot and unfortunately you can't adjust the heater as it's locked, so it's either on or off. Staff are wonderful.

Lovely food. Poor service no interest… No cutlery offered with side dishes. Disinterested rushy front of house. An expensive meal with a relatively second rate service. Food absolutely lovely and could not fault… except coffee cafetiere was abysmal. Old coffee without a doubt. Please please get some good quality fresh beans to complete a lovely meal.!

Moderately sized rooms, excellent meal selections. Free parking. Lovely landscape all around. Friendly staff with a great selection of amenities. Highly recommend.

Rather dated decor. New bathroom excellent. Flex of hair dryer built into ancient desk could not be plugged in. Food good. Service at front desk was good but in dining room was erratic. Would go back.

Nice place. It has a warm and friendly feel. Great parking. The rooms are spacious and well presented. The carpet was however stained in quite a few places and there was a cobweb and spider lurking in a corner behind the kettle stand. The bathroom was also showing signs of wear and tear, which was a tad dissapponting. However, the shower was lovely, the room temperature was good, the bedding and towels were clean and the food was lovely and very well cooked. Great choice of wines. Room service available and the staff were friendly. Overall this place is a good place to stay in a brilliant area with good views.

Stayed in one of their superior rooms and it was lovely. The food in the restaurant was cooked brilliantly and the breakfast was brilliant also. I would definitely go back.

I attended Barnsdale for an event and the facilities were of a very good standard. Staff were very helpful and washroom facilities very clean. Parking was also good and the hotel was easy to find from Oakham I would recommend Barnsdale lodge as a corporate or wedding venue.

Went for a relaxing lunch with family. Food was out of this world. Very yummy and highly recommended. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I was at the Barnsdale Lodge for a family wedding reception. The atmosphere is excellent with the open air quad providing a fresh and vibrant location for the initial arrival of guests to be greeted with buck's fizz and some very tasty oriental cooked snacks. The barn reception hall is spacious and bright with plenty of room for dining tables and dancing. The food served was passable. All in all, a great venue.

Popped in for a late lunch yesterday. Two menus were available; a general lunch menu and a March Luncheon menu which offered a 2 or 3 course meal at a set price. The friend I was with is a vegetarian and there was not one dish on the 2 course menu that she was able to order. This was brought to the attention of the head waitress who apologised but said it was out of her hands. My friend ordered from the main menu which only had 4 dishes available — standard vegetarian options in run of the mill restaurants i. E. Soup, omelet, risotto and bean burger.
An omelet was ordered which my friend said was very tasty.
In this day and age, where being a vegetarian is not unusual, we both thought that the choices were extremely limited and I felt embarrassed, as it was her birthday treat from me and my suggestion that we go there.

Always a lovely stay, but the croquet equipment is a bit broken!

Lovely little venue set in the countryside with nice surroundings and lots of activities and places to explore near by. There is even a small helipad should you wish to arrive in style.

Staff were amazing, food was better. The place was excellent as a venue and all their little touches added to the occasion.

I was just delivering to the housekeeping and restaurant but what I see off the hotel it is very professionaly run and somewhere I would love to stay at.

We had a very pleasant stay at the lodge, facilities were excellent and the customer service was just as good if not better. We will definitely be staying again.

Great service, very friendly and accommodating. Lovely, spacious well equipped room and comfy bed. Good breakfast, though full English a little small portion wise.

Dated and overpriced rooms and slow service in the restaurant, with mistakes made. I stay in a lot of hotels, but this is one of the worst.

Popped in for a coffee and cake after looking at the place over the road. Had to order twice for the coffee to arrive. No cakes available until after 3pm. Coffee arrived without any sugar or spoons. Loads of staff as well. Should have gone down the road to a village cafe.

Well worth a visit in a quiet location.
